The best thing about this hotel was its location, right on a beautiful beach, with beautifully landscaped grounds, and two restaurants with great ocean views. Staff didn't give us a king bed as requested, but offered to change our room for the remaining 3 nights. First room was showing age and the tub drain didn't work, but the room move went off without […] a hitch and the second room had the king bed and a working tub. We really enjoyed our stay and had expected to pay more for the location, but didn't expect a "resort charge" to be tacked onto the bill when we got there. I suppose I should have read the hotels.com fine print more carefully, but it started us off with a feeling of hidden charges for "services" that are usually included in the price (like Wi-Fi). After a near distaster at check in, where I was told that my 2 daughters and I (ages 12 and 10) would all have to share a king bed (I booked a double oceanfront room), another couple checking in at the same time traded rooms with us so we did end up with the 2 doubles originally reserved. But the front desk was unable to help with that and only could […] offer a rollaway. This is a nice, basic hotel on a pretty beach. Very limited room service menu of just ok food. Both the concierge and the travel coordinators in the lobby were very helpful and professional planning excursions and making reservations. It was spring break and the ocean front pool was mobbed with kids, no chairs available, so we crossed the street and used the Garden Pool -- on some days we were the only ones there and had the entire pool (a very nice pool too) to ourselves. Valet parking is a steal at $10 per day and they get your car within 1-2 mins of requesting it. The rooms were big and clean. Lesa meira

We enjoyed our stay at Sheraton Kauai very much. Our room was great, nice view, very comfortable bed. Had a stopped up sink that was promptly fixed. All staff we encountered throughout were very kind, courteous & helpful-front desk, valet, maids, waitstaff, or cafe. (Not so at off resort restaurants-pretty grumpy people overall!) Expect to pay more for a room in Poipu. The Kapaa area is much cheaper and the rooms are great in Kapaaa.

The Sheraton Kauai Resort was far superior than what I was expecting. The accommodation was sheer luxury and the discount on my suite was enormous. I couldn't have asked for better accommodations, as an introduction to the island of Kauai. I will say, however, that as a young, single, professional this resort is pretty low key. We were truly impressed with how much the Sheraton Kauai has been up graded! It is now a resort hotel of very high quality, excellent staff, a fine restaurant in Rom Fire! Would recommend this place to anyone even those who stay at the Hyatt in Poipu!

We stayed for a week with two other couples, each in different parts of the resort. All rooms were clean and fit our needs, although the oceanfront room in the Ocean Wing had AMAZING ocean views (another couple did upgrade, and we wish we would have!!!). There are shopping villages and restaurants nearby, including two restaurants and a cafe onsite. […] There were children there, but not enough to be a "problem" at the pool or anywhere. Overall, really enjoyed our stay, and a great resort if you plan to be centered on south Kauai. Only downside if you are looking for a spa retreat: couldn't find a "spa", but did find two treatment/massage rooms, which were converted hotel rooms... We felt that the staff were very warm, welcoming, and helpful. The room was exactly what we expected. A few minor room issues were attended to by very competent staff. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel-and Kauai!

Good location, Poipu Beach. Typical Sheraton - I guess more rooms than the average Sheraton. I think this is the point. You have 200+ rooms and ONE jacuzzi, that can barelly fit 15 people? If you are a couple and on your honeymoon, this may not be the hotel for you. While it is a beautiful and well-maintained hotel, the pool area is full of young children and families. Forget about going in the hot tub. Stay on the garden side instead of the ocean side for a more relaxing experience and cheaper rates. Since the main restaurant at the […] hotel allows children to eat for free, it is not exactly a quiet and relaxing experience. We at at the buffet on Christmas and had children running around screaming and yelling while the parents did nothing. The hotel did comp us another meal, but it did not help to change that experience. If they want children to eat for free, they should be well-behaved or have a separate restaurant for families only. If you are looking for a resort that is great for couples or families in Poipu, but do not want to spend Grand Hyatt prices, this is the place for you! The rooms are very nice. The beach in front of the hotel is one of the best, great white sand, boogie boarding and surfing, easy walk to some of the best snorkeling. The restaurant is extremely overpriced, and I was disappointed to not find a breakfast buffet offered. We had a pleasant stay at Sheraton. The valet parking on the day of arrival was really helpful to getting acclimated to the new environment. The fireplace area offered a great way to relax in the evening. The resort is near Poipu beach, which is one of the best beaches in the world.

On vacation with my two teenagers. We found the Sheraton on Kauai to be very relaxing and beautiful. The location of the resort was great, convenient to restaurants, shops and other beaches. Most the building seems to be old construction. While rooms have been kept mostly in good shape you will get a feeling of old build. My room's archaic AC first did not cool. Had to call service to fix it. The two days down the line the AC started leaking water to the floor. Staff in the hotel however is friendly and tried to service our requests really […] quick. They even gave us a room upgrade from garden view to ocean view. It was a welcome change. As for food there is decent choices within the hotel with two restaurants and one cafe. Our stay at the Sheraton Kauai was a very pleasant relaxing experience. We enjoyed the convenience of handy parking (Starwood Preferred) to our room location and the handiness of all the shopping facilities so close to the hotel. This is not a big deal but it would have been nice to have more than one choice for evening dining on the premises - only […] the Rum fire was open for dinner dining. However that was not a big problem. Overall rating we found it to be very comfortable. The Sheraton has a really nice relaxing vibe. The beds are super comfortable and the grounds were rooster free! The beach is a nice swimming beach. Great location, Good views, Beach just feet away from Hotel. We arrived after dark and found the hotel could use better signage, as we had a hard time to know where to turn in from the pool to find the elevator to rooms. Overall the hotel met all our expectations and found it to be in better shape than the last time we were there.

My friends and I stayed at this hotel over the Thankgiving holiday. We got adjoining garden view rooms. They were roomy and nice with a serene view of the gardens. Front desk and housekeeping staff did a superb job catering to our needs and keeping our rooms clean. Location by the beach was great. Pools are small with no 'swim-up' bar. It is an older hotel, external structures are not too pretty, but the rooms inside are really beautiful. We had a room with a view of the pool and the ocean. Great to sit on the balcony. The new restaurant is great - I usually hate hotel restaurants - and the beach is perfect.

We had room 8402 and found it clean and in good condition. It would be similar to a comfort Inn room. It had a balcony overlooking the garden pool. The building is older but has been remodled. The newer rooms are accross the street near the beach. Over all the resort is beautiful, low key, and traditional hawaiian. I read other reviews and do not see […] how other people do not like it. Great location to watch sunsets. Very close to some great places to eat - beach house, keokis paradise, Tom cats (locals, great little place). Beautiful gardens and pool area on beach. The new bar is a typical hotel bar, not in keeping with Hawaiian heritage or style, big, shiny etc. rooms are spacious.

I was very impressed with this resort. Everyone that helped us was very nice. The only con I would say is that they did not tell us initially that there was going to be a resort fee of any type. Turned out to be $160 when it came to check out, $25 a day plus tax. Otherwise it was a beautiful place and I would highly recommend this resort. Initially when we arrived the room smelt damp and overall cleanliness wasn't great. I complained to the front desk and went down and was given a key to another room to inspect. I went to the room and found other people's luggage already in the room. I went back down to notify the same front desk person of the security breach! I would be definitely concerned […] about security there after that experience. The car hire was overpriced ad it was difficult to get a car anywhere else. The food was average for the price. There seemed to be a lack of communication between restaurant staff and front desk staff when charging food to our room. However I must commend some of the staff when we were evacuated to a near by baseball field when there was a tsunami warning. Hotel staff at the field that night were very nice and provided food, water, blankets and pillows and were driven back to the resort after the crisis was over. Lesa meira

Loved the hotel, great snorkeling at the beach on the property. Rooms were beautiful. Lei making activity was fun. Bartenders at the lava restaurant were friendly and nice.
