Fínasta hótel á góðu verði og vel staðsett. Stutt að Times Square. Góður og vel útilátinn morgun matur og hreinlæti á herbergjunum mjög gott. Mæli með Best Western ef fólk vill hagstætt en gott hótel. Við vorum með tvö börn með okkur, 9 og 12 ára sem líkaði einnig vel :)

Hótelið er nálægt flugvellinum og er fínnt til að skella sér á yfir nótt, skoðaði ekkert hversu nálægt það var annari þjónustu.

"Very disappointed..."
For over a rate of several hundred of dollars a night I expect excellent quality. I did not find that. The room was really small, the bathroom smelly, the service unimpressive, their responsiveness to needs was dismal (almost 30 minutes wait to have a technician fix the drapes which would not close!!!). To top it all off, my bill was wrong and included […] a $75 charge for breakfast on the day of my check in (which was at 3 pm!!!). I will not stay again at this hotel...and recommend you don't either. Lesa meira
"Jumeriah Essex House - almost perfect"
We enjoyed our stay there over the busy Thanksgiving weekend. The excellent staff handled the full house and the nearby parade with aplomb. The South Gate Restaurant was first rate, although we got placed in a room in the rear for breakfast one morning and the room has the distinct feel of an afterthought. "A perfect stay"
We stayed 7 days and our freinds also for 3 days and everything was okay. Good service with the Concierge, good service. Really no problems...

Beautiful hotel in a great location on Central Park South. Wi-fi was free and there was a coffee cart in the lobby each morning - only $2 a cup which is far cheaper than room service. First got a pretty lousy room, probably because they saw the excellent rate I had gotten. Was rapidly changed to a pretty nice room, not quite as nice as when I stayed there a year ago (that's why I went back there. But overall everything ok and beautiful. "Not the best stay"
I recently stayed at the Essex House when I was traveling on business. I have stayed here on numerous occasions, but on this stay it seemed as though housekeeping forgot to clean my room before I checked in. The shower was not very clean, and seemed as though there was dirt in the shower. Also, all night i could hear people slamming doors and speaking […] loudly in the hallway. "Essex House"
Great location. Comfortable. Good facilities. Stayed there many times on business and will continue to do so. Slip up on detail sometime. This visit no paper two days running despite complaint. Aircon on constant cold first day (room 60 degrees, setting 68), supposed to be mended but ineffective second day (room 69 even when set on 60).

"Disappointing"
I was expecting so much more from a jumeirah hotel. This is nowhere close to being 5 star. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable and the linens fresh looking, the bathroom was fine, the location is great but it is all very basic, nothing luxurious about it at all and doesn't even come close to some of the genuinely lovely 5 star properties in the […] area. I would recommend this to a business traveller looking for a reasonable place to crash for the night in a convenient location but if you are thinking of booking for a special occasion I would urge you to treat this hotel with caution. My wife and I spent five nights here during which Hurricane Irene hit NYC- or rather, didn't hit Midtown except for some breeze and rain. However, the cancellation of mass transit over that weekend greatly inconvenienced hotel staff and their domestic arrangements, and despite that we guests were looked after wonderfully well. Throughout our stay we […] were really impressed by the friendliness and efficiency of all the staff we encountered, from check-in agents to bar and restaurant staff, and not forgetting the cleaners and other folk whose roles are also essential to a well-run establishment. We can't recommend the hotel strongly enough.(And I have stayed dozens and dozens of hotels). In addition to exceptional staff, the rooms are well equipped and designed, and the location on South Central Park is hard to beat whether you're a tourist or visiting on business. Enjoy! "Jumeirah Essex House - Fabulous"
I stayed here for a week in August with my husband and loved this hotel. The location is great if you like to go for a run in Central Park as it's just across the street. There is a huge choice of deli's, diners, restaurants and bars in the area. We also visited great restaurants and bars in other neighbourhoods but this is my favourite area in NY to […] be based. The hotel is spotless and service was faultless during our stay. The lobby is gleaming and we could see why when we would come in late at night and see the floors, furniture and brass fittings being cleaned and polished. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was an Essex room with interior view. This meant that there were windows to the outside world, but they looked out on 3 other walls, 2 being other parts of the hotel. So, there was no view (you can get rooms with views for a higher rate), not even of the sky, but this didn't bother us at all. The room was large, well lit and the bed a King (more like a Superking at home). The ensuite was also plenty spacious and well serviced. We took some precautions for bed bugs by checking the bed/matress/curtains on arrival and using luggage racks. Everything was spotless and there were none to be found. So, we thankfully had no bug encounters during our stay in NY, though we did see two bed bug exterminator company vans parked up a few blocks away! There is a bar/restaurant in the hotel which we visited just once for a late drink. We chilled out in big leather chairs by the window. The day we checked out we could use the washrooms in the Hotel Spa to freshen up before our evening flight, which was a nice facility. I've always chosen different hotels in NY each visit, but this is my new favourite for its combination of hotel features and location, and I will stay here again. Lesa meira

Pure luxury and so close to all attractions. Rent a canoe at Central Park for one hour and then have lunch at Boat House. Great experience. Travel to Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty. Hotel makes it easy for getting tickets in advance. Hotel so helpful, Columbus Ohio believers

Everything was great, except for the bath/shower plumbing. This area needs upgrading and or repair. The staff were great!!!!! Definitely, a top notch place to stay! Thanks.

We had a great stay and it all started with a great hotels.com rate for a suite. And what a suite it was. The hotel was a bit tired, but made up for that with great location, perfect service and staff. On my daughters 10th birthday, they delivered a cake, a shake for her and champagne for my wife and I. We had a perfect birthday party in the suite. They […] also made available the hotel car for runs to restaurants and Broadway shows. So great and even better when it's pouring rain. Service was awful during our stay. Guest service would state they would take care of the services they did not provide and would not hear from them. I positively left a white blouse in the room and described it well to the manager and have yet to get a response to them finding it. Most unhappy with the service. What happened to my "Chico" white blouse??????? […] If I had gotten the room through the hotel itself.....would I have had better service???? Please let me hear from you ..you know my email address. Our junior suite was spacious. King double room for our sons was adequate. "Interior" room (which we had booked because it was supposed to be quieter) meant still having an outside window facing the block behind, not an airshaft. Service was prompt and courteous. We had some issues with the electronic lock, which were remedied quickly. Certain lights […] were not functioning when we arrived; they sent electrician within minutes. Great location on the Park. Hotel is luxurious. No Privacy signs for doors and turn down service was not mentioned, so we had no idea they would come back in the evening. Everything else was exceptional. Location was perfect. Close to Central Park and Subway lines. We would stay here again for the right price.

"LOVED IT!"
This is a very nice hotel. I love their attention to detail on service. I would love to stay there again. I did have a problem. I left the "do not disturb" light on. Consequently, the room wasn't cleaned. I called at 3:00 PM and again at 6:00 PM. At 9:30 PM, the room wasn't cleaned. I spoke with Christine at the front desk. We got free drinks at the […] bar and she handled everything. The staff were friendly and accommodating. I've stayed at a lot of hotels in NYC and I like this one the best. Lesa meira

"Old World Style with Flair"
This is a well-known luxury hotel that continues to live up to its reputation. Staff is friendly, professional and helpful. Guest rooms clean and well equipped. Location is superb. Nice bar bites menu in the hotel restaurant. If you want to splurge for a special occasion, you can't do better than the Essex House.
"Essex - Elegance at a decent price"
Great location, easy walk to time square and South side of Central Park. Three blocks from major Subway stop. Surprisingly affordable give elegance and location. Our room did not have a view, but we didn't miss it at all - we only spent the evenings in the room. It was small, but definitely large enough for our needs.

This hotel is at the very heart of Manhattan, on the park and close to the theater district and Columbus Circle. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the rooms and facilities are wonderful. I'm VERY particular when it comes to hotels, and only two small issues prevented this from a perfect score: 1) my room was near the elevator 2) I asked for ice twice and it came about 2 hours later. Loved this hotel.

"An Art Deco Landmark on Central Park South"
The Essex House was every thing it claims to be; an elegant hotel with excellent services and amenities designed in the hallmark, mid-20th century Art Deco style. The location is perfect for those visiting New York City for the first time or seasoned travelers who want to stay in a more quiet, refined, personalized environment.

The classic Essex House was everything to be expected on Central Park South. I can't give the management credit but the weather was perfect for enjoying Central Park and the wide range of Museums along Park Avenue and convenient to the front door of the Essex whose landmark sign can be seen from anywhere in the park. The Junior Suite was spacious, the […] bed comfortable and luxurious and the bath was both elegant, spacious and nicely appointed. We did not spring for a park view room as we spent most of the day in it. Unfortunately, there was active construction going on on the 58th St. side of the hotel until late Saturday night. The lighting controls in the room were very cool but entirely too high tech and not clearly marked. There are many good restaurants within short walking distance of the hotel. I highly recommend Quality Meats for a good steak or chop. Overall our stay was a delight and i highly recommend it for a romantic getaway. Lesa meira
"A disappointing stay for a Jumeirah 5 star hotel"
I stayed here last week and found it to be disappointing for a hotel with the Jumeirah name. The service of a five star hotel should be impeccable from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave - and the condition of the room should be 100% perfect. We got out of the taxi to find no help with cases anywhere near the door, we weren't offered assistance […] as we walked through the reception area either (struggling). The room itself was nice but small, as you'd expect for a NYC hotel. However, some basic maintenance issues made it disappointing again. The toilet flush mechanism was loose so it flushed forever unless you physically returned it to it's proper position. The tap was not fixed to the wall in the bath, meaning a huge gap where the wall was. The water pressure was also poor and not helped by the fact the shower head was broken and could not be fixed to point further into the bath, instead it hung loosely straight down. A smaller thing was the internet. $14 for 24 hours - most hotels in NYC and the rest of the USA offer complimentary wireless access. A disappointing stay for Jumeirah hotel. I was expecting so much more, instead it was on the same par as a large chain like Hilton and Radisson - but even they do better. Lesa meira

What a wonderful walk/run in the park....then, to come back to the incredible breakfast at the Hotel! And, the convenience of having a driver take you to the show...all compliments of the hotel! A definite plus!
"Excellent, but ..."
We booked the Central Park Suite, and were a little bit disappointed, although it was still very nice. The north facing Central Park view was not full-on as expected, one corner window in bedroom faced the park, but a wall jutting forward on the right side blocked part of the view. All other windows (bedroom and in the den in the suite) faced west instead. […] And no telescope, as had been promised in the description. We had recently stayed at a Statue of Liberty view with telescope room at a hotel downtown, for much lower price, and my wife's comment upon surveying this room was, "I hope this didn't cost as much as that last suite we were in." The other had two full bathrooms, too, which was great for convenience and with our daughter staying with us and sleeping in the fold out sofa bed in the den. I told her yes, more expensive, but better location. Great area, walk to Park, plays, Times Square, Madison Ave. shops, and museums. And all staff very nice and helpful, I would definitiely stay there again, but might want to check with the hotel directly re which room location to ensure full north (Park) facing room if paying te premium price for this suite.
