Holiday Inn Calais – Calais

Stayed overnight on way home from holiday in Normandy. Wanted to see the Burghers of Calais Rodin statutes and were not disappointed. Hotel located well for lighthouse and lots of restaurants.

Great Staff who were very kind to the children. Room spotlessly clean but bathrooms getting dated. Ceiling must be very thin because we could clearly hear people using the toilet! It is good location for a break after traveled from England. A lot of variety restaurants and bars in the surrounding hotel, but it do not have a lot of location for sightseeing.

We first drove up and from the exterior of the hotel, we thought " oh no!". But on entering the hotel we were greated wonderfully in lovely surroundings. Great for a small family especially with childrens meal deal

A good hotel - surroundings scored low as the streets and pavements are being dug up presently - whats finished looks great. Good hotel for the port and railway station - on foot. It is a great hotel in the center of Calais within a ten minute drive from the Euro tunnel. Also for looking around Calais and there are lots of amazing resturaunts close buy. The staff are very friendly and most helpful.

We arrived tired after a long journey and found the hotel to be warm and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and lovely and the bed and pillows extremely comfortable. We decided to eat in with room service. This too was all very satisfactory and enjoyable. We enjoyed our overnight stay and would have no hesitation in staying there again.

Great hotel right next to the ferry port. The rooms are comfy and the staff are very helpful. The old town around the back of the hotel is also worth a visit with lots of places to eat and drink

Whilst the rooms/bathrooms are in need of refurbishment, the hotel is well located, and it was generally quite clean.

The hotel was easy to find lovely room bed was so comfortable we could have spent the whole trip in the bed my little brother slept like a baby. The breakfast was very nice good value for money.

I loved the location of the hotel. The restaurants around it were very nice, but pricey. So, for those requiring food when you get there keep in mind. The port is 10 minutes away, and the personnel was very helpful. Even though i only had to spend only one night i was very pleased!

Hotel is okay for the price. It has a good location for the Channel Tunnel.Bar prices are extortinate @ 8Euro's for a beer.

Hotel is in a good location but is generally a very average hotel. Rooms are okay but bathrooms need attention. Bar price in hotel are extortionate with a large beer costing €8.10.

Very helpful staff from the first moment ... room had a view of the water, which was a plus. We decided not to eat at the hotel and the staff suggested a great brasserie in the area .. kids enjoyed their stay, which made ours enjoyable too!! We will stay there again!

OK, here's the thing: Calais is a bit of a dump and most people are only there for ongoing sea or Eurotunnel connections. And this hotel is a 3 star so it's definitely not the Four Seasons. That being said though, the rooms are comfortable if a bit small, the staff exceedingly pleasant and helpful and the food at the restaurant really not bad. We stayed overnight have stayed in Holiday Inns before and this was on the basic end of the scale Dont get me wrong there was nothing wrong with it but it was just a bit tired looking However it did have a happy hour 2 4 1 drinks between 5 and 7 and there where some very nice and inexpensive restaurants within walking distance so all in all a nice time […] was had Thanks Lesa meira

A very warm welcome when we arrived. We were over 3 hours early but they allowed us to check in and they had a room for us ready and waiting. We were able to join their holiday Inn club and were given a complimentary bottle of wine whcih was greatly received! The rooms were basic but clean and well thought out. Linen was crisp and clean and the bed […] was very comfy. Lots of hanging space for clothes for those staying a while but not many toiletries available ( just a bar of soap if i remember right). They also could have done with a few more towels in the bathroom, the ones they had were quite small and we only had 2 between us and a couple of hand towels. The staff were very friendly and helpful and as between myself and my husband we could not speak a word of french, they were all very fluent in English ( shame on us). They told us where all the local shops and amenities were and all the information that we needed to know about the hotel and the sourrounding area. Only negative was that the walls were a little thin and you could hear people coming in and out of rooms but luckily for us the hotel was not very busy when we stayed. Location is right next to the port -- just where we needed to be. Enjoyed strolling the area, checking out the local attractions, and grabbing a quick bite before leaving France.

The hotel appeared a little outdated. The staff were helpful and appeared to be fluent English speakers. The car parking arrangements were quite complex as the hotel had several small car parks scattered around the neighbouring street. The front door step was difficult to access with luggage. This was just an overnight stop before travelling home but Calais is a real jewel that many people probably don't see, as they travel through. A good quality hotel that did the job we wanted.

Handy hotel over looking the sea, right next to the port. about 15 minutes drive from the Channel Tunnel & hypermarket. Free on street parking at the front. Safe for car with roof box. Breakfast nice.

Our only disappointment was that having stayed on the wrong side of Calais previously, we had no idea how lovely this part of Calais is, an we should have stayed 2 nights! The hotel is located a short walk from the beach, there was a fun fair near the hotel too much to the delight of my 3 year old. The meals were good, although breakfast is typically […] French with lots of packet foods and not so much fresh prepared and a little pricey at 15 euros per person although kids eat free. I would completely recommend this hotel, especially for families needing somewhere before getting the ferry, but make sure you leave some time to take in the sights! Lesa meira

Very clean hotel with an excellent room for our family. Family room in our case comprised 2 interconnecting rooms / 2 bathrooms with which we were very pleased. Free internet and hot drinks making facilities Free street parking close to hotel was busy but we had arrived late. Very good value for money.

It was not clear that the breakfast was not included in the room rate and that we would be charged. In the US breakfast is provided by the hotel as part of the room. We were surprised at check out to have an additional 15 Euro per person charge. This adds up with a family of 4.

They tried to put us in a really run down room until I refused to stay in that room then they did upgrade us to a very nice room, but I would say that was still not worth the money we were charged for the night.The area is very run down and very dirty, everywhere you walk is covered in dog poo and dog ends and down and out homeless people. The hotel was very pleasant and right on the beach. When the beach is busy, it is a cheery and active area. It gets very quiet in the mornings. The city sights, such as the Hotel de Ville and the WWII museum were a manageable walk. If you like seafood or beach snacks, there are several options in the area, but otherwise the food is limited. The hotel is clean and has a modern feel on the inside. The staff were helpful. I did feel it was quite expensive for a fairly basic hotel, albeit a well presented one.

The room was very comfortable and the reception staff were very efficient and helpful and spoke excellent English, which was a help as we aren't fluent in French. The meal in the restaurant was overpriced and we had to wait 3/4 of an hour for it. A volleyball? team were staying at the hotel and they came into the restaurant just as we had ordered. […] Their buffet was laid out and they had practically eaten it before our meal arrived. The portions we were given were not in line with the price we paid for the meal. I would recommend the Holiday Inn, Calais but I think the restaurant staff could improve their service. Lesa meira

A really good hotel. Modern and very clean. Staff were very attentive and helpful. Bike friendly and secure parking was only €12. Twin rooms with double beds was a bonus. Ideally located as within close proximity of the ferry terminal, although it's a bit deceptive when you see it on a map. Extra bonus points for an excellent breakfast choice!

Good friendly stop on way to holiday if you want to go through the tunnel than rest. My car broke down on route. Arrived a day late and the hotel moved my booking to the next day Free of charge when they were perfectly entitled to say no. How nice is that.

The Holiday Inn Calais is everything you would expect from a hotel that is part of an American chain. The room was pleasant and clean and with friendly English speaking staff. We parked (for free) on the road outside but it might be worth asking on booking for one of the secured parking spaces.

Perfect stop=over Hotel. Located close to m/ways and Tunnel. Despite delay and late arrival (0230 hrs) staff received us well. Family room with 2 beds was ideal. Didn't stay for b/fast. Parking on road outside seemed okay and was used by lots of other travellers.

The hotel didnt look like an ordinary Holiday Inn, it was quite an old building. However inside it was fine and the reception staff were very helpful. The room was ok, the bed warm and comfortable and the bathroom a bit tired looking but functional, no complaints. The hotel was within easy walking distance of shops restaurants and bars.
