My husband and I stayed there one night after 14 hours on a plane. It was great! Very clean and beds were very comfy.

We really enjoyed our stay. The only thing that was of concern was that the breakfast buffet choices should have given guest a little more options.

The only problem is the hotel has a very slow wireless internet service. They are still running on old 802.11b service.

The hotel met all of our expectations and we would not hesitate to return. However, if your business is in Portland it is a bit out of the way. Also, there is nothing aesthetic about the area, which is strip mall and commercially oriented

Bed was comfortable but overall condition of hotel was old. If you are looking for a nice place to stay this is not it. Stay here only if you do not care for appearance.

The hotel was older but well kept and clean. Rooms were very satisfactory. Staff was exceptional and very helpful. Location is great if you are there to shop which we were. Overall worth the price of a night's stay!

This was a Gem on our trip to Maine. Lovely ,comfortable spotless room and great breakfast! A wonderful way to start our 12 day tour of Maine. Skip was very helpful with restaurant suggestions and other things to see and do.

Hotel is ideally situated right off I-95. Staff is friendly, room is clean, price was okay. But the hotel definitely needs some updating.

We were very pleased with our hotel stay at this hotel. It was very clean and well kept. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was adequate. We didn't use the pool so we can't say anything about that other than it seemed well kept also. The location was very good for what we came for, which was sightseeing.

The accomodation was fine, but a little basic and - I guess - old. It could do with something to freshen things up. Too many hotels look like they were designed and decorated by my grandmother, and in this case she was held to a tight budget. This motel had a nice breakfast and clean comfortable rooms. The two pools indoor and outdoor were great. My kids talked about how much fun they had at the two pools our whole vacation.

The staff were extremely nice and helpful when we were looking for restaurants to go to. However, our room had this terrible smell. Thankfully we did not spend much time in the room. Really only to sleep and shower..and THANKFULLY we brought candles with us, which we had lit the entire time we were in the room. The maids came daily to clean but that […] smell would not go away. Overall a pretty good place- good access to downtown Portland- 10-15 minute drive- free breakfast was fine- nice to have free internet access; nice outdoor pool; good (small) jacuzzi; good cable TV selection; and helpful / competent front desk staff for the most part. This is a nice older hotel. It looked like they were in the process of some woodwork remodeling while we were there. Very nice courtyard and outdoor pool. Unlike some of the reviews I read for the breakfast, we considered it very nice, no hot food, though. We ate breakfast at Zachary's restaurant one morning and it was very good and reasonable. Front […] desk service was excellent. We road the metro into Portland from the bus stop at Shaw's, easy enough to do if you are a visitor. #4 goes in, transfer to #8 to go to the wharf. Get a transfer ticket when you get on at Shaw's. Allow time to ride on the bus into town if you are scheduled to do something, at least 20 minutes I would say. It's cheap, just $1.50 or 75 cents if you are a senior. Taxi costs around $15 one way. Use the hotel taxi and ask for their $2 coupon. Quick, courteous service. Lesa meira

I was nervous about this hotel because some of the reviews were not very good. We thought the hotel was fine...clean, and the staff was friendly. It Isn't fancy but it was clean and the price was great.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Hotel employees were very helpful and courteous. The Continental breakfast was very good. We found our way to downtown very easy to drive. We would stay at the Fireside again.

The hotel is family friendly. We just had one issue with our card keys not working and continental breakfast is at bear minimum but otherwise OK.

The staff was very efficient in registering me, and also in helping with directions to an event I wished to attend in the city.

Got to room late had to wait several minutes to get service tub and sink drains were too slow to use and was unable to shower because tub water was over my ankles before water temp was reached due to slow drain

I unfortunately got a room on the first floor of the section that has yet to be remodeled. For the shabbiness of the room, it was extremely overpriced. When booking here, make sure you get in the remodeled section, which is very nice.

The hotel i a bit of a mess....smelly, stagnant air, bathroom doors that don't close properly. Frankly, I couldn't wait to leave.

This hotel should never have been rated 3 Stars. The room had a huge cobweb in the corner of the drapes that was obviously there more than one day. I had to ask the front desk to have it removed otherwise it would have still been there. The continental breakfast was so so and the overall cleanliness of the hotel was sketchy. They spent more energy cleaning […] the parking lot then the interior of the hotel. I was also disappointed that by selecting your up to 40% discount that I ending saving only 9 dollars. We stayed overnight because we were "passing through." Excellent value for the price, especially compared to other hotels in the area. The grounds are well-kept, the staff are personable and friendly. Bed very comfortable; bathroom quite small. Overall, we were pleased and we'd come back. Thank you!

Check in was a little confusing- they had to "unblock" rooms so they could give us one- and we had reservations. The girl at the desk told us to look for doors 6/7 or 8- we drove around the parking lot twice and finally used 8 since 6/7 were nowhere to be found. There is a courtyard in the pool area, and i guess that's where they are. We ate in the […] dining room- the wait staff was very good, and the food delicious. A continental breakfast was included, and there was a decent assortment of food. The beds were very comfortable. The only odd thing was a strange tapping noise- I'm a light sleeper, and it kept me awake for a while, and woke me once in the night. This hotel was a little dated esp. in the hallways and stairwells. It was just an OK hotel that shouldn't be listed as a 3 star hotel in my opinion. Pros: nice outdoor pool area, clean room, comfortable bed, great location, & quiet. Cons: cont. breakfast didn't have alot of choice, (very limited compared to other hotels I've visited) supposed to start […] at 6 and didn't open until 6:15 which normally isn't a problem but when your car is packed and your ready to leave except for a quick breakfast it is disappointing. This was our first time to Portland and really did not know where to go. Hotel had a wedding in progress when we got there but that was fine. Generally shabby. Staff did bare minimum. Kids running wild and unsupervised in pool and gym areas. Staff not very welcoming and preoccupied with a wedding.

This was definitely an older hotel. It was rated as 3 stars and I would not qualify it that high. There were lots of finishes that were missing/lacking both in the main parts of the hotel and in the room itself. The location is great - very convenient to stores, restaurants and I-95,

The hotel is old and seems to be understaffed. One of the main reasons I booked this hotel was because it advertized that it had a laundry for guests. There was only one washer and dryer and the washer didn't work because the housekeeping staff forgot to empty the coinbox.

We were only looking for a place to sleep after a concert, so didn't expect too much as far as amenities go. However when we checked into our room late at night, there was a pile of dirty sheets on the floor, and an open soap from the previous guests in the bathroom. Our sheets were clean, but looked like the cleaning service didn't quite finish the […] job. When we called down to let the front desk know, they asked us to put the sheets in the hall. Not exactly the response we were looking for, but we were tired, so just wanted to go to bed. Compared to other hotels in the area, this one was pretty affordable, so I guess we got what we paid for.
