"Worse place ever"
was the worse place Ive ever stayed , the rooms smelled of mildew and bedding was wet,heater didnt work ,no towels in room ,asked for extra towels and pillows and was told there wasnt any.

The noise level of the hotel was low, which was unexpected considering how close it is to the airport.

I must tell you the HoJo in Bangor was a big disappointment. The hotel staff barely acknowledge your arrival - the counter at the check- in desk is about 5 feet high and I had to reach up to get my room key - I wondered what that was all about but after staying there I no longer have to wonder. Room had not been vacuumed since whenever but the bathroom […] was clean or we would have been gone in a heartbeat. Two small pillows for 2 people in a queen size bed. Finallly got 2 more pillows of very poor quality but gave him a tip anyway. We Canadians are so polite! Headboard fell down when we sat on the bed and we had to laugh. Friendly staff at front desk. The hotel is old and dirty. Our room had not been cleaned when we checked in( the beds were done but not the floors,etc) and still was not clean when we checked out.There were NO towels in the hotel on our second night. Still had none when we checked out the next morning.

This has to be one of the worst hotels I have stayed at. Poor condition of hotel, security keys might work and they might not. Window screens hanging of building or just laying on the ground. "dont stay here"
I guess you get what you pay for. Ice machine never had ice. Blankets smelled. Lack of towels ,pillows and toiletpaper. The airport was so close it was like we were sleeping on the air strip.The maid left are room open and unlocked after she cleaned it, leaving all of are belongings exposed.Good thing I left my laptop computer locked in my car! "There are better options"
We just needed a cheap place to spend the night near the airport for an early morning flight, but even given that low bar, this place is pretty poor. It began when I called for directions, and the desk clerk tried to argue with me about where I was; when we got to the hotel, she tried to continue the argument. The room itself was nasty: carpet was sticky, […] half the lamps were burned out, coffee maker didn't work and overflowed, towels tissue-thin and dingy grey. Luckily we arrived in the dark and left in the dark the next morning, because I'd hate to think what the place would have looked like in daylight. "Smelly"
The Hotel floor we were on smells musty or dirty. The only good thing about this place is it's walking distance from the Ground Round restaurant.

I have never stayed in a such a dive of a hotel. The amenities that were listed didn't exist. There is no game room for the kids, no casino on site, the restaurant wasn't even open. The person that checked us in said he was aware of the false advertising of the amenities but they weren't in control. The room was dirty. The shower didn't drain, the toilet […] clogged and housekeeping delivered a plunger and left it to us to unclog. We ended up using the public bathroom down the hall because I certainly wasn't going to be the one to use the plunger. Worst night I ever had in any hotel ever. Lesa meira

The Howard Johnson Inn in Bangor is located in a functional area. The building is rather old in that it wreaks like it just went smoke free after 25 years. The carpet in the room was sticky. All the fixtures in the room were dusty. Only thing new in the room was the shower/tube area.

I was so pleasantly surprised.It was very clean!! My friend even brought a flash light to look for bedbugs in usual hiding places!! He didn't find any.The sheets were clean and the velux blankets were brand new and a pretty blue on both double beds.The bedspreads were brand new and modern,not polyester flowers like some gross old places.Carpets clean […] no odors .Clean,clean bathroom.Flat screen tv. Good heat.Fridge and microwave in room.Coffee pot could use updating though.I love the way you can walk to in house cozy bar for a couple drinks and walk back to your room and not worry about driving! also restaurant in building with delicious breakfast. It may have just been my bad luck, but when I got there even though it was a non-smoking room it was filled with the smell of cigarettes. Not to mention the shower curtain was missing, we didn't have any towels, and the coffee maker was dirty with dirty water left in it and a used coffee bag inside it. I was not very impressed. I thought spending a few extra dollars would be worth a stay here. I usually stay down the road. When I arrived I was greated by a voice behind a 5 foot wall. I had to get on my tip toes to see the lady at the desk. Very uncomfortable situation. The bathtub in the room was dirty. The Hair dryer had hair stuck in it and a slimy feel to it. "alright for a night or two"
I was pleased with the room it self though it isn't where I would go for a romantic getaway. It was clean and comfortable. My complaint is housekeeping did not replace the used towels and facecloths nor did they replenish the coffee supplies. The soda machines were empty and the toilet was new but not anchored down properly.
Had problems locking the door. There was no coffee pot for the coffee machine, also trouble controlling the heat.
we found the room to be clean and comfortable and the people who worked there to be helpful and friendly. It was handy to eating places , a restaurant inside the hotel as well as others close by. We would stay there again.

The worst experience I ever had. First room ,no light in bathroom and flush plugged.Could hear every word from guests next door. Beverage machine broken,Halls and stairs not vacumed. Gum on stairs. Hall very smokey. Exits not shovelled -snow,low water pressure. No cleaning staff available,. Desk lady not co -operative. We had to move 3 times in 2 nights. the rooms are fine, halls could use a little (or a lot of air fresheners) thats what you get when you have smokers at a hotel. It suited what we needed it for.

Hotel was old and in desperate need of renovation, the first room we were given had a broken toilet, took 3 days of badgering to get the fridge moved to the alternative room. The room did not have a microwave,the television kept turning off on its own and when called the front desk for towles because housekeeping didnt leave any,the response was,"you will have to come down to the front desk and get them yourself"
The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable.This hotel is old and in need of upgrades. The restaurant was very reasonable and the food was good. I would recommend this hotel as it is handy to all shopping in Bangor.

This reservation was made a month prior to using the service and it was made for four persons hoping there was queen size beds but there was double making it unconfortable to sleep. We had two faceclothes between four of us and 4 flat pillows and when we asked at that front desk for more faceclothes and more pillows nothing was delivered so we had to […] make due with two clothes etc. there were no glasses in the room this was all the first night we stayed. When we arrived at 2pm one of the gals went in to check on admittance the man on the desk didn't even look up but abruptly said three oclock was check-in time. this hotel is very easy to find and is in a very cental location. the rooms were fairly clean but it was easy to tell the basic cleaning was done to say the room was clean.. there was still hairs, dust, and cobwebs in places. the water pressure wasn't the greatesr and the toilet seat was loose.. we mainly were only in the room to sleep so it was managable.. I went to this Hotel for my anniversary. Upon my visit the desk clerk was very rude and unpleasant. There was also a guy there with her did not look like he worked there but was watching television with her and he as well was a very rude individual. The room itself was okay. The cleanliness was excellent. The only thing broken was the switch for the […] bathroom fan. The bed was uncomfortable. Don't think it would hurt to switch or flip mattresses. I found this was a wasted amount of money that I had to spend on this room. You go to Hotels but also expect to see friendly service not feel like you have to be treated like a convict. What is wrong with a Hotel when they don't even show up on an updated GPS? Type HOJO in Bangor and the closest one is in Portland. The Hotel does show its age. Everything is in dire needs of an upgrade. Fresh paint in the rooms would be a start. As far as cleanliness, we found macaroni tubes from previous guests. Between the bed stand and the bed, they […] sure don't use the vacuum in that area. As for supplies, we had 3 tissue boxes with maybe one only had a few tissues in it. My wife had to remove pubic hairs from the toilet cover and she wasn't impressed. Toilet looked as if it never had been cleaned In the morning, water hammering could be heard at least in our room. When mentioned to the hotel staff, it was dismissed as an airplane landing. I know the sound of airplanes and they don't sound like a jack hammer. Person getting our reservation on the night we arrived, was more preoccupied in playing his online video game. To all those who wish to save a buck or two, DON'T THINK ABOUT GOING THERE!!! There are other nice hotels on Odlin RD to choose from. Make sure you reserve long time ahead to prevent any unwanted surprises. This was the first and LAST time we will ever go to that Howard Johnsons. The price is good but aside from that, nothing else was. Picking up the garbage around the building might make it a tiny bit more appealing. The restaurant although musty smelling, was good. Had big breakfasts for a descent price and the person tending to our needs sure kept the coffee cup full at all times! She was also very friendly. That was probably the only plus of staying there.
