I've stayed at this hotel many times, and always go back to it for location and price. As far as NYC hotels, the rooms beat all others in this price point. I was disappointed to learn upon arrival that the lobby was closed, as well as the restaurant and bar, due to renovation. This also meant no room service. We got a newly-renovated room, which was […] very nice, but if I'd known the hotel was under construction and had no services, I would have stayed somewhere else. The expensive single bed room faced an ugly light weel on the 17th floor. No sun or views. Could not shut off the loud fan coil unit at the window. No window screen. Disaster of a hotel right now, I'd strongly suggest staying away until remodeling is complete. First, the nice lobby and restaurant you see in the Hotel.com's preview doesn't exist. I was […] on vacation with my son and really didn’t give it a second thought. The actual room was small even for NYC standards, older décor, but clean. But what really upset me was they gave us a room on the 5th floor directly below the 6th floor they were demolishing. Are you kidding me! I went back to my room after a big day of walking around central park and checking out the sites to a demo crew smashing apart the walls and bathroom titles in the room directly above ours. I couldn’t stay in my room nor could I hang out in the lobby since there was no lobby. It was sooo bad it was actually comical. "Nice hotel-staff fabulous"
Only complaint was the hotel is under construction and notification of that was nowhere to be found until we checked in. Everything okay except for starting construction before 8am on Monday morning. "During Update - Hotel Just OK"
Although I asked for a King Bed, upon checking in and going to room I was given two double beds. I was told reservations through Hotel.com were not guaranteed for room type. Very disappointed. "Hotel under serious maintenance, no warning"
The lobby, bar, restaurant and room service were all closed for renovation and I was not informed of this before I made the booking nor is there a mention of it on the hotel website. I did not learn about the renovations until I arrived at the hotel and was quite upset about the situation. In addition, I was awoken by construction noise at 8:00 in the […] morning. "A disorganized mess"
The hotel is under construction. The main lobby is closed and they have a makeshift lobby off the main entrance. Internet is $15 per night, and it did not even work. Although check out time is at noon, the hotel renovations begin promptly at 8:30am. My room was directly beneath a room being completely gut renovated and, because the noise was so loud […] and intense, I felt I had no choice but to check out at 10am, two hours earlier than planned. Until construction is done, I would no longer offer this property. Construction occurs weekdays from 8:30 to 5:30pm, which essentially means you can not use your room during these hours unless you don't mind the continuous sounds of a saw and a jack hammer. The hotel was being renovated, which would have been nice to know prior to booking.The position is a great midtown one. They either closed down their front gate or never had a big one, took me half an hour just to find the space--lobby is ridiculously small. Booked & pre-paid for king concierge, got a tween on fifth floor, and there were staff still cleaning the room when I got in. Went back to front desk and was told that King concierge is no longer available, I have […] the option of a refund or living in a standard tween with thirty bucks back (which I have not got). "Renovating hotel - stay far away"
First, I booked a king bed. Got there and they only had doubles available. Second, wake up to noise above my head at 5:45am, and apparently that is when the renovators are allowed to start making all the noise they want. A broken lamp in the corner and badly wrinkled drapes gave the room a poor appearance. The lobby was under construction and elevators were out of order. No refrigerator or microwave. The shower had no lip to catch the water (in the king size bed room) so shower water flooded the entire floor. Although there were two drains, it still caused a slippery […] floor and tension.
