Very old. The super small and super slow elevators are a pain. Just 2 of them that can fit 4 for 16 floors. Walls and bathroom look like they have not been updated since the hotel was built probably 50 years ago. AC and alarm clock were not functioning properly. The hotel is really nice on the outside but it had a terrible smell on the 11th and 10th floors. It smelt like they were having sewage issues. "Mere Convenience"
I asked for a room with one double sized bed and instead I was given a suite with kitchen/dinette/living room with two twin single beds. The bed was too small for me. I should have asked for my original request. I actually fell out of the bed onto the floor. Not used to a smaller bed. I wasn't seriously hurt but bruised my elbow. "Great location -- service not so great"
You can't get a much better location than this, right next door to Carnegie Hall. But I tried to ask for a late check out and was told to call back the next morning -- even though I was heading out early that day hence the very reason I was calling the night before. And then when I called in the morning, they would only give me one extra hour and somewhat […] begrudgingly. I was asking for two. While this might be outside their policy, one would imagine that the rules could be bent every once in a while in the interest of customer service. And there is no gym either, another negative. "Weekend get-away"
Due to construction, the hotel was not a welcoming sight.The building is in need of repair, the decor needs to be updated and the carpet is all worn out.But, what they lack in decor,they compensate for comfort and cleanliness.I booked a double room for the weekend with my daughter. The room was cozy and the bed was very comfortable.The linens were clean […] and fresh.The bathroom was spotless! The staff were helpful and acommodating.We also love its proximity to everywhere!We enjoyed our stay at the Wellington.I would stay here again on our next visit. "Great hotel for price and location"
Overall, we enjoyed staying at the hotel for the duration of time we were in NYC. The location was convenient - close to the subway, Central Park, 5th Avenue, MoMa, and other places. "A Little Disappointed"
The hotel was generally ok but we were very disappointed with the first room given us. It was very small and did not look very appealing.
