The Swissotel-Chicago soars 43 stories alongside the Chicago River in downtown Chicago, Ill. This property is located three blocks from Lake Michigan and the Lakefront Running Path. An underground passageway connects the hotel to the urban Illinois Center and Michigan Avenue, both located less than four blocks away. The Tribune Tower and the Wrigley Building stand four blocks from the hotel.

The triangular glass-enclosed Swissotel-Chicago was specifically designed to offer, from every angle, panoramic views of the Chicago skyline, Lake Michigan and Navy Pier. Sharing the view are dining options including The Palm restaurant that serves steak, seafood and Italian specialties, and Geneva's Restaurant, known for its buffet-style breakfast. The three-story lobby features a bar with a double-sided fireplace. A fully-staffed business center offers a range of shipping services, plus fax, photocopy and print services. The 2,500-square-foot fitness center contains cardiovascular and weight-training equipment.
Guestrooms.
The 43-story Swissotel - Chicago offers 661 smoke-free, contemporary guestrooms decorated in autumn colors. Beds are draped with 300-thread count cotton sheets and duvets. Cushioned armchairs are paired with ottomans. Italian marble-clad bathrooms offer bathrobes and contain separate showers and bathtubs. Minibars are stocked with treats. Rooms include flat-screen televisions and high-speed wired and wireless Internet access for a fee.

I liked that you could have great breakfast in good place nearby that was open 24 hours and some pub to grab something to eat late evening. This hotel is great when you are in a rush and need to be up early or come in late.

Við dvöldum hér fjögra manna fjölskylda í 5 nætur. Það fór mjög vel um okkur í herberginu sem var hreint og glæsilegt. Flott nuddbaðkar og góð sturta. Sjónvarpið var stór flatskjár mjög gott. Við myndum velja þetta hótel aftur við pöntuðum tímalega og fengum herbergið á fínu verði.

A 20-mile path along Lake Michigan's shoreline is just three blocks east of the Swissotel. Guests can bring their own gear for running, walking, bicycling, or inline skating. During summer months, Oak Street Beach, one mile north, is popular for sunbathing and for swimming when lifeguards are on duty. "Great Hotel in a Great Location"
The hotel itself was very clean with plenty of amenities in the rooms. My room was very comfortable, modern, and had a nice view of the Lake. The hotel is slightly set back because it is so close to the Lake, but that makes it very convenient to get to the main attractions on Michigan as well as things like the bean, etc. The rates were excellent for […] what feels like a very high-end hotel. We had a great two night stay with our two boys aged 9 and 10. The pool and workout facilities were good. A full breakfast was free for kids under 12. The hotel is a great location with lovely views of the lake. I would stay here again!

"Swiss Hotel great for families too"
Great pool and workout room and kids under 12 get breakfast for free (which is great because breakfast is very expensive). We had problems with our TV signal at times and I'm not happy about paying for internet access at this time. The service at the check in/check out was very poor.

We would definately recommend this Hotel. The rooms were spacious for Chicago, the staff was polite and the location have great views of the city, lake and Navy Pier.

I have stay at the swissotel before but was disappointed that it was under construction and was never told before getting there. Hotel had plastic wrap hanging from all over the place and parking was horrible!

Overall we did not spend much time in our room. The first night we did not have any cold water in the bathroom faucet and the room was too warm, even with the air conditioning turned on. We came to discover that we did not have any sheets on our bed, only the heavy comforter. Furthermore, there was a bathroom fixture being held to the wall with masking […] tape. When we checked out on Sunday morning there was not any hot water. We selected this hotel for a romantic weekend downtown and were pleased with its overall location. "No hot water in hotel"
We had no hot water on Sunday morning and had to take a cold shower prior to leaving for an appointment. We discussed this with the hotel staff at check out later that day, and they initially offered 50% off our room rate, but then we were told we need to take up this issue with hotel.com. to have compensation for this inconvenience. Staff at Swissotel […] indicated that hotel.com would contact them to get credit, and then hotel.com would in turn reimburse us. Is this the correct procedure (informing you in this survey) or do we need to contact hotel.com by another method? Lesa meira

Where was the advance notice about significant renovation? Had to wind around through narrow passageways of construction vinyl to get to the elevators. Small gift shop is hidden away. Limited bar and restaurant options. An OK hotel but certainly without the facilities offered by it's competitors, especially for the money. The design of the bathroom is not good. To turn on the shower the glass door has to be open which gets the floor sopping wet. Also, they are undergoing major construction and I was not advised prior to my visit. Could not enter the hotel off of the main street.

Here is to a fine traveling experience to Chicago's Swiss Hotel. This hotel I endorse. The room was well designed and decorated. The view was also excellent. From a comfort standpoint I particularly liked the ample share of towels in my room. When my wife ran short of shampoo and other toiletries the staff responded quickly. The washroom had a separate […] shower and the toilet was discreetly arranged. The addition of a nice comfortable work desk was impressive. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. To provide a balance to this review, I did not like the fact that we came during a time when they were doing maintenance work on the front of the hotel and the check-in/front desk process was a bit awkward. Did not have the room Requested for me had to pay to swim and go in the hot tub that is stupid and ridiculous!! Had workers banging on the door at midnight and the hotel did not even comp me a single thing!! Will never stay there again!!!

Talk about a construction zone, there is no reason to stay here right now. The lobby is temporarily set up on the 2nd floor, nothing is where it seems to be, can't get a coffee in the morning, the "smart" elevators are anything but. Please, this was one of those bargains where you got what you paid for, no thanks...

Overall good stay - even with renovating front entrance so all entry/exit had to be done in back of building. Nice room, but shower door didn't shut and unless you prepared for this (turning shower head away from door and putting towels on the floor, you had a flood to clean up! Mini fridge was empty and didn't seem to get cold anyway.

This was an adequate facility. But when we thought of the Swissotel we expected more. The hotel was under construction which we did not know. The room was lovely with an excellent view. I would have loved to see the view from the gym, but it was a fee per person/per day to use (and the fee is not just nominal). The room was clean upon arrival, but housekeeping […] did show up until after 7PM on the second night of our stay. There was a constant fan blowing in the bathroom, which necessitated our shutting the door at night so as to create a better sleeping environment. The main reasons we stayed here were rate (discounted) and location. So, overall we thought this was good. But, in a city like Chicago, with so many other places with good location, that would not be enough to bring us back. Lesa meira

"Stayed at better for price"
Pretty good stay. Nice bathroom, with mood light switch. Big, comfy bed. Paid the extra $20 bucks to have the lake view. All in all, was a good hotel. However I have stayed in others very close to this location and felt they were better at a lower price.

"Disappointing Stay"
I recently stayed here with a friend and had a great time. I returned thinking I would experience the same quality as before, I was wrong. At 7am in the morning a staff member repeatedly knocked on our door saying there were reports of "smoke" coming from our room. When asked who said this we could not receive a straight answer. Upon checkout, we could […] not get to the lobby because construction had taken place overnight and weren't notified. There was dust all over the elevators and in the hallway. Perhaps THIS was the smoke that was smelled and not coming from our room. Upon checkout, when we asked the staff about being disturbed and if anyone else was bothered they became very defensive and confrontational. All the while other guests were behind us waiting to checkout. Very unprofessional. Also, the check locations were switched overnight (due to the construction) and we weren't notified and then had to wander aimlessly and be directed to the wrong locations. "Despite Construction, Swissotel a Great Value"
As always, Swisshotel is extremely clean, rooms are spacious and amenities are first-rate. A nice touch this visit was the guest services attendant who, upon checking my driver's license, noticed that my birthday was the next day. She upgraded our room free of charge and sent up a lovely plate of fruit and cheese with a celebratory message on my birthday! […] It made a delightful weekend even more special. Lesa meira

Lobby was being renovated, really disappointing, but perhaps why we got such a good deal. We had a hard time finding a cup a of coffee in the building in the morning other than inthe room. Heating vent rattled all night, windy night. There was mold in the shower - shower door was not sealed and it leaked on the bathroom floor. Bed was not comfortable. […] I mentioned all of this on my way out and they said "Oh, I'll let the engineer know". Great location, fanastic views from all sides. Beautiful hotel in a great area not far from areas of fun. We were disappointed that there were no POP machines. We ended up having to have room service where 2 10 oz sodas were 17 dollars! It would have been nice to grab a drink at the hotel that was reasonable...like the convenience of a POP machine.

The hotel was undergoing renovation. No Valet parking and VERY expensive. Find an alternative.

At a quick glance the room was clean as were the other rooms our friends had booked for the wedding. However, beyonyd the surface the rooms were dirty especially the bathrooms. Just disappointing overall. Sofitel or Hotel 71 would have better fit our needs. However, the wedding group was meeting after the reception at the hotel bar which was promised […] to be open...it was closed. Just disappointing for the cost of the hotel on the surface it's convincing but beyond that not worth it. iHomes that did not work, no refrigerators, no blackout drapes only sheers. again just disappointing. Everything was great till I noticed they had a $75 hold on my account that I was not told about @ check in. When I asked I was told it was for incidentals or movie charges neither which I had also that it would be 5-10 business days till taken off.

Waited 45 mins for them to find my car. other then that the stay was good.
The hotel was great and location was awesome my only complaint is i wanted to swim for mabe a hour and they wanted to charge you 15 dollars a person to swim and use the gym i payed a lot of moneyfor the room i think the pool should be included!

I was very dissatisfied and disappointed with the Swissotel. It was a bad experience from check in to check out. When I checked in there was a stain on the bed linen. The handset on the one phone in the room didn't work and I was not granted a late check out upon request. Awful customer service.

I would say that this is a fairly average hotel - no real negatives, no real positives (the view can be nice if you get the right room, which we did not). I was disappointed that the bed preference that I selected was not accomodated ("Booking through a 3rd party are not guaranteed") - guess I needed to read the fine print.
