Caribe Hilton San Juan – San Juan

This is a Hilton resort hotel and has everything you might expect from such a hotel. Great views and small private beach. It is, however, a bit isolated and there are few shops or restaurants nearby. To get away from the hotel usually demands an (expensive) taxi ride. Prices of food and drink in the hotel are quite high.

it was a good experience. i would stay again.

Comfortable for an overnight. Close to cruise ship. Didn't feel safe leaving the grounds. Waited too long to get into room. When we arrived we were tld 1 hour. Turned out several hours before we approached manager and complained. Finally got checked in about 4:30 pm, check in was supposed to be no later than 4:00pm. Only issue is lack of diverse meal options on the premise.

Bad experience. The view is nice, but the hotel has no hot water. the ac is loud. the room is quite small. the beer is unbelievably expensive. It costs $9 for a bottle of local beer. who would buy with that price.

The room was fantastic. Food was great & reasonably priced. The sheltered beach was a huge hit with everyone in the family, especially the little kids. Attractions outside the hotel are a drive away (nothing close). Don't expect much from the pool staff.

Although the room was clean, there was mold in the bathroom, and plaster was falling off in the hotel room. We had purchased two rooms - and one room was much nicer and in better condition than the other although they were right across the hall from each other, and cost the same amount.The pool was fantastic, but the beach towel location closes at 6PM, […] although the pool stays open until 9 !!!! It's a far walk to try to walk anywhere outside the hotel's grounds..... I don't think I would stay here again. Lesa meira

Awesome hotel and amenities. The lagoon is fantastic, views are incredible. Nice pool area and helpful staff. No complaints.

Wonderful visit. Would like to come back. The room and the service were wonderful as was the pools and beach. Mentionded a couple of things that needed to be taken care of before the next visit with the toilet. Notes were taken and I am sure that the dedicated person did follow through with it. He thanked me for bringing it to his attention.

This hotel has some great potential! Some areas were dated, while others were great. Beds were very lumpy but comfortable! The small pond area was great and the pool area was as well. The kids snorkeled and the beach area was very nice. If they had just one person walking around picking up the garbage it would really improve the cleanliness of the hotel. […] The bellman charged us four dollars to store our bags when it should have been free. Food is expensive. We bought food from Walmart. If you ask for a microwave they will bring you one for free. Don't valet your car it costs you 5 dollars more a day. It is a very nice hotel. I have 3 kids and they had a blast.

Excellent hotel!!! The service is outstanding!!!

The atmosphere was fantastic. The comfort of the rooms were great. One room had the sliding door off track to the bathroom. Another room was not ready for 1.5 hours after it was mentioned to be ready and the paint was pealing on the walls and ceiling.

This Hotel is a great place to stay if you have children who love to swim in a pool or in the sea. The pool area and the beach are beautiful and kept nice and clean. You have to be out early because people do reserve sunbeds even if it is not allowed. Poolbar is nice and serve some okay food and drinks but it is expensive.There are several nice restaurants […] at the Hotel area and we tried a few. Mortons had great steak and the Italian restaurant was also really good but again both quite expensive.My only complaint is that the rooms are dated and in badly need of a renovation. They did not look anything like the pictures and felt old and a bit dirty. I hate carpets on hotelfloors an this was really ugly and old to be honest. Bed and bedlinen was good and of very good quality.And why doesn,t any hotel ever put up hooks in the bathroom so you would actually have somewhere to hang yours towels? That way you could use them again and the hotel would save both the enviroment and some money. Give the rooms a makeover and we will definately stay here again. Lesa meira

Our family of 6 stayed here for 1 night prior to our cruise leaving from San Juan. Beautiful hotel, grounds and great location. Had a lovely bird sanctuary where we saw dozens of birds, including peacocks, ducks, geese, lizards and a lovely pond. Wonderful pool and beach area for the kids to swim and play. There's even a Starbucks located at the hotel! […] Overall this was a good choice for us because it was located between Old San Juan and our cruise port. Would definitely go back! Lesa meira

We come to the Caribe Hilton every other year to enjoy the snorkeling, the peacocks, the great food, freshly prepared mojitos, and friendly service. This year we were as satisfied as always. We stayed in the Garden rooms which was a first and were completely delighted by how stylish and inviting they are. My kids' Garden Suite was huge! On the plus side, great beach and pool area and fantastic bed. On the negative side, the rooms are a little run down and need painting, new furniture, etc. The weekend crowd can be pretty loud and obnoxious too.

This hotel was as charming as an suburban shopping mall...in Utah. The public areas are dark, poorly maintained, unfriendly defined by a strange corporate architecture. The pool areas and beach was jammed packed with oversized vacationeers and screaming kids. There are so many other better alternatives in San Juan. I have never been happier to end my […] vacation. This hotel is perfect for those wanting a leisure getaway. Everything you need is at the hotel, so not really necessary to leave it unless you want to do sight seeing. I would recommend buying beers at local store than at the hotel and/or buy the $22 shaker drinks the the pool bar since refills are $16 after..they are quite large. Many places to sit […] at pool or private ocean which is great. Sun or shade. Seemed like a great spot for those w kids as well. We only stayed one night before starting a cruise, but would love to go back for a longer stay. The room was clean and quiet and had a terrific view of the coastline, including an old fort just below the room. The pool areas are well maintained and there is an adjoining beachfront and a unique sun deck extending into the water. It's near Old San Juan […] and the cruise line piers, so cab fares are low, but the hotel food and beverage prices are high. Great destination wedding or meeting venue. Lesa meira

This room was very warn out and needed updating badly. Even the lamp shades were broken and needing to be replaced. This was a very overpriced room for the quality.

The Caribe Hilton is located in a beautiful part of San Juan - right on the water. I had a wonderful stay there...definitely worth the money

Even though I was assigned a room in the refurbished portion of the hotel, many items including the refridgerator and thermostat did not work properly.

The Caribe Hilton is wonderfully located near Old San Juan. You can easily walk downtown in a leisurely 30 minutes stroll or in 20 minutes if you walk fast. It is a government area - so very safe; no crime to worry about. Our room was in the newly remodelled tower and was exactly like the pictures - beautiful view of the beach and the ocean! The beach […] and pool areas are private and there are plenty of chaise lounge chairs (even beds!), towels, umbrellas, places for sun or shade, etc. The swim-up bar is fun! Staff were great - very helpful, friendly, always there to help. Check-in and check-out were fast and effiecient. Don't pay for transfer fees - the cab rate is $20 + another $1 or $2 per bag from the airport. Much cheaper. You can schedule tours from the hotel. We went to the El Yunque rainforest and loved it! Only 6 people with our group, so we got a lot of personal attention. The food at the hotel restaurants is very good. As all hotels are, it's a little pricey, but the portions are immense and worth it. We split a meal at Morton's Steakhouse and they even cooked our separate split of filets to each of our preferences. No extra plate charges to split meals, which is nice. There is a convenience store across the street (easy 2 minute walk from the tower) with sodas, snacks, liquor, etc. The Condado area is a cheap ($12) cab ride away and you can take a bus into Old San Juan for 50 cents. Trolleys in town are free, but not consistent. Many times you can walk somewhere faster than than waiting for a bus or trolley. I would definitely stay at the Caribe Hilton again. I would not even consider the Condado or Isla Verde area - too far from everything. Those people have long, expensive cab rides to get anywhere. Visit the forts - they are amazing!!! Lesa meira

Great hotel located at the entrance to Old San Juan. We would stay there again. Need to know: very expensive. Even a hot dog for my son was about $10. Also important: there's a Subway around the corner and an even better local breakfast sandwich place which is much more reasonable in price.

Well situated with a private beach, several pools, swimup bar/sitdown bar, and beautiful surroundings. We stayed there pre-cruise and for our 40th anniversary. The hotel was very nice but we have stayed in nicer Hiltons. Some of the rooms/areas need a bit more attention to preventive maintenance. We chose this hotel for a recent family vacation (to get out of winter), because of the pools and beach availability. That, and Morton's (on the premises), was about the only redeeming factors. Service in the other restaurants was really lacking - especially the Italian restaurant. Starbucks was probably the slowest I have ever been in. The first room […] had some leak in and was clearly damp for months. We reported water on the floor several times without any success. We asked (and was) eventually moved to another room. Lesa meira

we went as two families. both familes had two kids and 1 and 5 year old. great place since it right on the beach and has a beach bay area that is very shallow. and they also have pools that are only 18 inches deep. hotel is in good shape but you can tell its old. its well maintained but does not look modern. no problems anywhere. only complaint is that […] food is outrageous at the hotel. we just got like two kids tenders plates and 2 adult plates and it would be around 100 bucks each meal. Booked this hotel for my parents for a romantic anniversary present and they loved it! They couldn't stop raving about the private beach. Close proximity to restaurants in San Juan.

The hotel was very nice. Having a swimup pool bar and beach access was nice.Everyone there was very friendly and helpful. Would definatly stay there again!

Relaxing atmosphere, pool areas are separated out so you have areas to play, swim up bar, hot tub, etc. Nice beach, beautiful coast.

We arrived late evening and initially were put in a room near the ballrooms, bars, elevators, and what seemed to be a service staff hangout; not the ocean view room that had been reserved. Went back to desk, told no ocean view rooms available, given a villa with bay view and complimentary breakfast. Very nice room, quiet, great view. The villa section […] also had its own pool which was less crowded than the resort pool. The resort was very busy, high season there, but there were several dining options and some nice little shops on the grounds. We went walking around the area during the day, but wouldn't recommend leaving the resort by foot after dark. Good location close to airport, overall would recommend and stay there again. Lesa meira

We only stayed one night prior to leaving on our cruise but we were very happy with the Caribe Hilton. Prior reviews indicated the hotel seemed dated but we were put up in a room that had just recently been renovated and it was perfect with a lovely oceanview! Friendly, helpful staff and great on site beach/pool area makes me think we'll be back!

My wife and I spent a delightful two nights at the Caribe Hilton San Juan after Southern Caribbean Cruise. The quality of the hotel and restaurants were superb. We found the staff extremely helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay there again on or next visit to San Juan.

The resort was beautiful! Everything you could ask for in a tropical getaway - palm trees, hammocks, private beach, pools with plenty of lounge chairs and seating, bars, guest activities, restaurants... You're in between Old San Juan and Condado, but on your own peninsula which makes it feel like you're in your own little private piece of paradise. […] But you can very quickly and easily get to any of the sites you want to go to. Our room was just okay. We paid for a room with a balcony but had a terrible view and there were some plumbing issues with the shower, but I suspect that is not the norm. Lesa meira

I would definitely encourage others to stay at the Caribe Hilton, we had a great time. The service was absolutely top rate, everyone was extremely helpful and went out of their way to make sure our vacation was perfect. The beach is really nice and private and it is great to take a walk along the water toward Old San Juan, which we did each morning. […] The breakfast buffet was always clean, well stocked and the chefs were sure to prepare omelettes and eggs exactly the way they were ordered. The very best place to eat at the resort was The Pina Colada club. The servers were always very friendly and made sure we were well taken care of. We went there for lunch, for dinner and for very late dinners as well. The rice and beans were perfectly prepared and the drinks were great. I think the menu has something for everyone, from vegetarians to meat eaters and certainly for those who eat fish. They have this incredible habanero sauce made with honey and pineapple that I could not get enough of -- very hot, yet sweet as well. I would not recommend going to Morton's steakhouse. Certainly the quality of the food was great but the prices are pretty ridiculous. More importantly, however, the menu did not reflect Puerto Rican food whatsoever. Each day there are activities and they are fun. There was also some snacks -- coquito, fresh fruit, cheeses, etc -- each afternoon something different in the lobby. The lobby bar was great, all the bartenders were friendly and attentive. Go for the mojito for sure, excellently done. The outside bar/restaurant had some great inexpensive meals and I'd recommend them as well. We had some trouble getting bottled water in any of the machines on the room floors but be aware that both in the lobby and in the lobby bar there is free water -- usually with fruit -- that is there for the taking. The housekeeping service was outstanding. We were always back to our room after breakfast and a long walk, and the rooms were always done promptly and well Lesa meira
