"Great Airport Hotel"
This is a perfect place to stay if you arrive late in San Jose. Shuttle pick-up from the airport was easy, front desk person was very polite and helpful. Room was clean and nice!

We booked our hotel stay in the lobby on our computer because we could save money and the staff was very understanding and friendly about it.The whole visit the staff and management went above and beyond to help us out. The hotel is very clean and even though close to aiport it was very quiet...It seems to cater to business clients so I feel they were […] all very professional. Breakfast had a lot of choices and the breakfast area was very clean and staff very helpful just in case like me you are not smart enough to make your own waffle:) 24 hr coffee and hot choc and tea with fresh fruit. Also great chocolate chip cookies at the front desk in the evening..yum! A bit limited in dining choices right in the hotel area there is a Dennys and a Chicken restaurant. But we never went any further so there could be more in the area. The beds was comfortable...The heat/air is a unit in room and there is only high and low no thermostat on it..so it runs all the time if you have it on, it was a bit hard to regulate...We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again. We are very satified with this hotel. The location is great and is within walking distance to quite a few restaurants. This is our 3rd year to Costa Rica and keep coming back to this hotel. Great staff, decent breakfast and comfortable rooms.
"SJO Airport - great for layovers"
The hotel is modern, clean, and located right next to the airport). The staff was friendly and the noise from the planes was hardly noticeable. The only drawback would be for people who plan to sight-see from there because downtown San Jose takes a bit of a cab ride.
We have stayed at this Hotel many times and it is always great.

"Hampton Inn hotel location"
This hotel was very confortable, clean and the breakfast was very good. But to get to some of the see sights you have to drive 3 to 4 hours. We could not take a ride in the hot baloon because we needed to be in another hotel closer to the site.
"Perfect for your first or last day in Costa Rica"
This was the perfect hotel to stay for my family on our first and last nights in Costa Rica! The hotel is clean and well staffed with English speaking workers. A casino/nightclub and Denny's restaurant are within a 2 minute walk from the front door. The hotel is very close to the airport, but as it isn't a busy airport at night, we slept peacefully […] and without any excess noise from planes or nearby highway. "Very convenient for the airport"
Free, 24 hr shuttle to the airport makes this generic, corporate hotel a great deal. I mean generic in the best way...this could be a Hampton Inn anywhere in the US, which is not a bad thing. The hotel was modern and clean with lots of amenities. Traffic at the intersection getting TO the hotel is terrible. The hotel is RIGHT next to the location of […] several car rental returns, which was VERY convenient. Also right next to a Denny's, so even more US influence for your buck. We wasted 40 minutes waiting for the Grey Line clerk to come back from lunch to pre-pay our airport departure tax (do this at the hotel, it's VERY convenient). We finally left before he came back as we wanted to do some sightseeing. It would have been nice for the front desk clerks to tell us that THEY could also do the paperwork and take the money for the tax but instead they let us sit and wait for 40 minutes unnecessarily. :( Lesa meira
"Quickee"
We stayed at The Hampton Inn on our way back from the Tambor area. We caught our plane back to the states the next morning. The people there were fine. In the morning the desk clerk offered us a breakfast to go (apple, muffin and breakfast bar) which came in handy and they had transportation to the airport available at 3:30 in the morning. "Security oriented"
My husband and I have travelled all over Mexico including southern Quintana Roo, but the security concerns at this hotel (and in the Country of Costa Rica) surpassed all others. There is a 24 hour guard posted outside the hotel itself. There is barbed wire everywhere and the citizens seemed literally to be on the look out for whatever sinister motives […] in others. I don't know if it is more preventative or resposive of the culture of Costa Rica but to live under such gaurd all the time must truly be exhaustive. All that in mind, Hampton I & S is 5 minutes from San Juan Maria International Airport in Alajuela, Costa Rica. The shuttle from hotel to areopuerto is constantly running and the flights were on time. We ate at the Denny's next door and I felt like I had to run over there for threat of assault/robbery/whatever. They have the tourist infrastructre really well oiled in CR but prepare yourself for the hypervigilant security! Lesa meira

This hotel is perfect for arriving late or departing early at San Jose Juan Santamaria Airport. It is clean, the staff is friendly and the breakfast buffet was ample.

"THIS IS MY HONEST REVIEW ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE...."
Spent 2 nights at the Hampton, when I arrived before heading to Herradura, Los Suenos resort and a night before heading back to Toronto. The hotel is clean and well kept and only 2 minutes away from the SJO Airport and you get a free shuttle ride from the airport to the hotel and also from the hotel back to the airport no matter how early your flight […] is and may I add they have pre-packed breakfast if you are leaving to the airport really early. What was so COOL about this hotel that literally blew me away is that international calls from your room is FREE, yes free. The breakfast is great, the orange juice is not the best but besides that everything else is on point from the sausages, eggs, muffins, cereal, milk, waffles etc. In fact the breakfast has more to offer than the Hampton hotels in the U.S and Canada. In front of the hotel is a Casino called the "Fiesta" the place is usually live with people dancing and having a good time and one thing about the place is the prices are not over the top, it is affordable compared to other places in San Jose. Right in front of the hotel are car rental companies, I rented a 2010 Rav 4 for 2 days with full coverage for $300, Yes HIGH as hell! There is a Dennis restaurant by the hotel as well, the food there is AMAZING however, the prices compared to the ones in the States and Canada is over the top. I had the ultimate omelet, Hush puppies pancakes, hash browns and a glass of coke for $26, I have never spend more than $12 at a Dennis restaurant this was the first, however, it was delicious. At the very front of the hotel towards the right (After passing the Holiday Inn select hotel on the left) is a Latin restaurant and if you keep going right you will find a strip club. You really would not require a taxi to get around as it has several hot spots you can walk to. Personally I wouldn't recommend going to a strip club in San Jose only if you got a lot of money to burn because the girls and the owners are money hungry as hell :-) Lesa meira

They have a very convenient airport shuttle, amenable front desk staff and they serve a good breakfast. However there is no other food available in the hotel. The only lunch/dinner options are a Rostipollo and Denny's. While that may work for some it didn't for us. "Excellent Hotel for Airport Access"
We stayed at the Hampton Inn San Jose Airport in late January 2011. Very pleased. Clean, comfortable. Excellent access to airport via their shuttle which leaves every 10-15 minutes. Staff spoke excellent English. Important to note, however, that the San Jose airport is not actually in San Jose...it's located in Alajeula, a bit to the west of San Jose. "Hampton Costa Rica Dec 2011"
Awesome place...free breakfast, clean rooms, awesome beddings, and friendly staff. I highly recommned Hampton. Costa Rica's does not have a lot of brand new hotels and this is a very new, clean and comfortable hotel.

"Great for something convenient to the airport"
This is just like all the Hampton Inns in America, but if you want to be near the airport (e.g. early or late flight) it's perfect. You won't get an authentic Costa Rican cultural experience here, but the hotel is clean, comfortable and the staff are very helpful and friendly.

Negatives during our stay. The Guest Laundry was shut down for whatever reason. We will be back on 1/11/12 and we will see if it reopens. Not enough restaurant choices in the area only a Denny's.

The BEST place ever. Very clean and modern. The bed and the linens are top quality. The best place we've stayed and we stayed at a few places like Barcelo Playa in San Jose, Barcelo Tambor & Villa Liries in Quepos and NONE comparable to the comfort, cleanliness and price was reasonable. Don't forget if you stay here, around the corner in front of the […] Fiesta Casino is the best chicken rotisserie (forgot the name) but you will not miss it as you enter Hampton. I will stay at any Hampton from now on if this is the HIGH QUALITY (cleanliness & beddings and comfort) they offer. KUDOS!!!! Open more places. HIGHLY Recommend this place.... It is a convenient spot for one night, as the room is clean, comfortable, it is close to a few restaurant (including a Danny that is overpriced with so so food but surprisingly over-popular with Costa Ricans) and you could have Grayline or other shuttle buss just to pick you up to anywhere in Costa Rica. "Mixed experience"
We stayed at this hotel the first and last night of our one-week stay. The first night was great...very helpful and friendly staff. The last night was frustrating; we had booked online obviously and the woman checking us in said we had indicated that we wanted a king room but there would only be one adult. We didn't have this issue the first night. […] When we booked, the price was no different for one person or two, so what's the issue? She said she had to charge us an extra $20 even though we wouldn't get breakfast (we were leaving too early). Give us a break! It was particularly frustrating becauses we had just had a rough day. We were stopped by a police officer on a motor cycle and after 30 minutes, it became clear that he was seeking a bribe, which we saw no option but to pay. And then to get the hotel, and feel that we were being gouged again...it was very frustrating. the worst thing is we got our VISA bill last night and they actually hit us up for $40. Kind of dampened the positives of the place, and made us feel ripped off. Might have been an innocent mistake; we'll have to dispute it now on our VISA. Hassle. Two other comments: there was no one staffing the departure tax desk either of the evenings or mornings that we were there, so what could have been a great convenience turned out to be nothing as promoted. They weren't apologetic or even have an explanation - just said, "oh, they're not here; I don't think anyone will be at the desk in the morning either." If no one is on duty on weekends when many people arrive and depart, then be straight about it. Also, we thought we got a breakfast bag if we left too early for a pretty decent breakfast...apparently that's not the case on the weekend. The room was fine...pretty standard and most of the staff was really lovely. One other thing...don't trade money at the airport! Wait to get to the hotel, but don't expect to be able to trade a lot. "Easy and nice by the airport"
Couldn't be more convenient. You could walk to this location if you chose but a very short taxi ride would be safer. Security everywhere, food nearby, and even a casino if you are interested.

The perfect start or end of your stay in Costa Rica--just a block from many of the rental car agencies and a short 5 minute shuttle ride from the airport. The rooms are classically comfortable, with deep pillow-soft mattresses to insure a good's night sleep.

I would have given this hotel a 5, except for the quality of Internet, which is very bad. We could not connect to the airline to check in, nor to retrieve our mail. Other than that and the size of the gym (minuscule), this is a very clean, conveniently-located hotel with a friendly staff.

Really all around a good hotel but I found it very over priced. I had a problem with a snippy clerk over booking a shuttle to another part of the country but the rest of the staff was effcient and friendly. hotel staff very friendly, close to airport, Had coffee ready with a bag breakfast at 5am which I appreciated. Room was clean and quiet, great one night hotel. would stay again with no problem.

This is the place to stay before an early flight out of San Jose or after a late arrival. It is minutes from the airport with a 24/hour shuttle service. The hotel is across the street from major car rental agencies and is a block away from several restaurants and the casino. We enjoyed staying at this hotel. It is conveniently located near the airport and near highways 1 and 3. The staff was very helpful especially Manfred. The breakfast and free international calls were nice surprises.

great place to stay after a late flight into CR or the night before an early-morning departure. It could not be closer to the airport, and free shuttle is convenient and runs frequently. There's a decent family restaurant (rosti pollo) within a minute or two walk. it's no fancy but for our purposes it didn't need to be.
