Hotel location is perfect, close to Plaza Mayor, restaurants and shops all in few minute walking distances. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.

Great location and very friendly staff. Shower was good but the only negative side was the bed, it could be more comfortable.

North of the Retiro, Salamanca has always been an affluent neighbourhood. Its grid-like streets and beautiful houses sprang up at the end of the 19th century, escaping from the old city walls. Today, ladies who lunch drop into its spas and designer shops, many of which line the long, sleek Calle Serrano. The National Library and the Museum of Archaeology are close to the Plaza de Colón.

Excellent location with easy walking distance to main museums, prado thyssen reina Sofia aswell as shops and old part of city. Very close to lovely Retiro park. Breakfast not included and was expensive(20 euros) as our family numbered 6 so ate in excellent cafe on corner opposite […] side of road open everyday. Staff at hotel very helpful getting taxis maps info etc. Only setback was communal Internet computers not working in reception area. It was also useful it was 24 hour hotel if plane arrives in late. "Decent place, great location"
I read mixed review on this hotel, however my personal experience has been positive. The rooms are nothing special ( a bit small and old) but they were clean and decent. The staff is extremely helpful and the location is just great: one minutes from the parque del retiro, 15 min. walking to Sol and 10 min walking to Salamanca. They have free wifi in […] the lobby and that was a bit annoying as I expect free wifi in every room at this stage. However just across the streets you can have a coffee in a nice place (la Bombonera) and enjoy a good fast free internet. I would reccomend if you can book a room for under 80€ Lesa meira
"Great location! Great Value."
I would definitely recommend the NH Alcala if you are looking for a hotel that's nice, affordable, with easy access to all the main attractions. Though it's classified as a 4-star hotel, it's more like a 3-star hotel by USA standards, about on the same level as a Marriott Courtyard, which I'm fine with. It's a 3 min walk to Parque Del Retiro which […] is absolutely stunning. You can also easily take advantage of the metro which is only a 2 min walk down the street. One recommendation I would make is to take the train to and from the airport. It only costs 2.50 Euros one way! It will save you loads as opposed to paying for a taxi, and it is very easy to do from this location. Also, most of the staff speaks English and are more than happy to answer questions if you need assistance. The only thing I was not too fond of was the lack of higher end, sit down restaurants in the area. There are however several cafes if you're looking to grab a bite to eat. Lesa meira
"Nh Alcala"
A business hotel with everything you would expect but an easy location for the Metro and as tourist's we found it easy to come and go, walking distance to the Park. The breakfast was a bit expensive but unless all you want is coffee and pastry it's worth having it as there are few other places around offering breakfast.
"What a dump."
This hotel was a joke. It was a pain in the neck to get in. There was only wi-fi in the lobby. Our room had NO air conditioning - it was cooler in the hall!!! And the 2 twin beds in the room were scooting all over the floor all night - just if you turned over, the bed took off. This hotel sucked.

"3 Days in Madrid"
We were very pleased with our recent stay at the NH Alcala [3 nights]. The hotel was easy to get to by Cab from the train station and conveniently located near Retiro Park and two Metro stations. It was quiet; had a very nice large bathroom with good water pressure and plenty of hot water in the shower. The room was large, bright and very clean. There […] were no surprises as far as extra charges. The room safe was free and very adequate. We did not eat at the hotel but there were a number of inexpensive taverns and restaurants within easy walking distance nearby where we sampled Spanish cuisine. Mixos, Tortilla Espanola, etc. A small store across the street for snaks and sodas. On checkout the front desk called a Taxi with an English speaking driver. Excellent English. Fare to airport was30 euros. If we are again in Madrid we will stay at the NH Alcala! Lesa meira

"Totalmente decepcionados."
Elegimos éste hotel por su ubicación y categoría para celebrar nuestro aniversario de boda. Excepto la profesionalidad del personal del hotel (tanto recepción como cafetería) el resto del hotel no estaba acorde a su categoría de 4 estrellas y cadena NH. Las zonas comunes tenían un aspecto viejo y desaliñado, la dificultad para entrar en el hall por […] la presencia de escaleras y ausencia de rampa. La habitación doble era pequeña, mal y poco iluminada, los muebles viejos y el aspecto del baño era sucio. Todo ésto sorprendente en un hotel NH de 4 estrellas. Lesa meira

Muito bom hotel, bem localizado e com funcionários bem atenciosos. O que me decepcionou foram o ar condicionado fraco e a necessidade de pagar pela internet.
