Housed in a converted 19th-century cotton mill, Britannia Hotel - Manchester City Centre opened in 1982. The hotel's lobby includes gilded decor, chandeliers, and a cantilever staircase. Restaurants include Jenny's Restaurant, serving traditional British cuisine, and The Overstuffed Pizza, with Italian selections. Bar Rogue features a dance floor popular on Saturday nights. Conference and banquet facilities include the Crystal Suite, displaying gilded chandeliers and accommodating 200 guests.

Not bad, clean but hated to see dirty dinner plates etc.. along the halls for very very long periods e.g. from the evening before. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Booked a family room with two double beds. The room not the biggest but made up for it with style and charm. Ours was a two night stay. The Location was perfect for us to visit the Arndale shopping center, only 2 minutes walk away and the MEN arena that was our reason for this trip is only 5 minutes walk away. Breakfast was good. Our points to the management: During breakfast one of the staff threw the cutlery into some trays in the restaurant creating so much noise. There must be something wrong with the drainage from the bathrooms as when we arrived the smell was well "drainage" smell we called for a fix of this and they came promptly and used some cemicals to remove the smell. Unfortunately it started to come back so we found out that the only solution was to close the drains in the sink and bathtub and put a wet cloth in the shower. Still a very nice stay and we would stay here again deffinately on our next return to the area.

Við hjónin höfum tvisvar sinnum komið til Manchester, og dvalið í bæði skiptin á Britannia Hotel. Fórum á tónleika í fyrstu ferðinni og er Tónlistahöllin í göngu færi.Strætisvagnarnir rétt við, og lestarstöðin. Örstutt í alla þjónustu. Góð þjónusta í Lobbíinu, tekið mjög vel á móti okku.Herbergin voru mjög vel þrifin.Hótelið er gamalt en hefur sinn […] sjarma.Okkur leið mjög vel á Britannia Hóteli meðan við dvöldum í Manchester.Og ætlum við að gista aftur á Britannia þegar við komum aftur . "A horrible stay"
Filthy rooms, things under the bed and an uncaring management leads to a terrible service. Need a room keycard? Hassle. Something wrong with the room? Hassle. The evening and night shift are excellent and do their best but the day shift is to be avoided. Just suffer in silence, most do. And I was informed by staff that the management just doesn't care […] so do not complain but I should be receiving 15% off my stay, I never pursued it further. I was glad to leave. Lesa meira

The location is great and it's clean but! The bathrooms are very tired the tv and remote didn't work, the staff were not interested.

the hotel is perfectly located five mins from city centre, everything you could need was nearby. the hotel its self was run down, needs a new look. the room was fine with all the basics. the hairdryer did not work, the fan in the bathroom did not work. we paid for a room with a window and got a room with a skylite, this might be ok for a one night stay […] but we were there for four nights and the room got quite hot. the room was cleaned everyday and fresh towels and linen were provided. a little over priced per person per night, but overall not a bad choice of hotel for a city centre. "horrible service"
The location is great, and the whole building looks fine, but the service and quality of the room are absolute terrible. The bathroom was leaking while taking a show.

Good value for money. Only downside was a windowless room which was very claustrophobic.

It seems that this hotel was built a long time ago and we were stayed in a room without window! But the price is low according to its location. Anyway, it is very convenient to go to city center and shopping mall.

The hotel is very convenient for business. Everyone is very helpful and friendly but the hotel clearly needs updating in some areas. Although perhaps unimportant the television set is very poor quality, a throwback to the nineties that desperately needs updating especially if you are only in Manchester briefly and have no time/ do not wish to sample […] its other attractions. Hotel had a great location but in need of a face lift, everything a little dated! Also the wifi connection didn't work on the top floor.

"Nice place, a bit pricey"
An easy walk from the train station (Picadilly). Not cheap but maybe because it was Easter. Breakfast not included. I had a decent quiet room and the wireless internet worked fine. I would have given a higher rating if breakfast had been included.

Excellent location in the city center, close to every attraction, especially Canal Street for the nightlife and the picadilly station for the airport train (5mn walk)
"Brittania in Manchester - great value"
The Brittania in Manchester is great in terms of location as it's slap bang in the city centre, close to many transport routes, shops and nightlife. Our room was very comfortable for two nights, including lounging around in for an afternoon, and the free Wifi is a definite bonus. My only grievance was that for a five-storey hotel the lifts were very […] slow and there were some empty Pepsi bottles under the bed. Very good value indeed. Lesa meira

While this is obviously a little shabby chic and a true bastion of faded glory, I was pleasantly surprised by not only the fact the room was clean and well appointed but that the location was so good. Really nice hotel if you are on a budget.

Ideal for short business visit or for shoping-Arndale centre only walking distance.Rooms very adeqate even economy, staff very helpful indeed, printed a location map of our business contact. In house food was excellent ,restaurant,lounge,& bar. Will use again without hesitation.

Have now stayed at this hotel twice and purely for its location. You couldnt get a better one in Manchester. The staff have on both occassions been friendly enough and helpful. The rates are always good, but the parking does cost a little if you travel by car, but one offsets the other. The rooms are basoc but clean, if you want a window dont book economy, […] i have yet to get a room with a window, it gets a little stuffy. Overall you pay for what you book and thats what you get. A reasonable 3 star hotel smack bang in the heart of Manchester, Try it and see, but dont have great expectaions and you'll be delighted with your value for money Lesa meira
"Room for improvement"
Location was excellent, just around the corner from all the busses and tram line (Picadilly). Did not eat in the hotel - room only rate had breakfast out - very cheap from £4 up. Tourist information very near very helpful there. Had a problem with heating in the room which was not fixed when requested.

Is very close to shops and town centre. The decor is dated but if you need it just for a bed I would definatly recomend it. Good price and nice hotel.

The Britannia is an older hotel but one with some class. IT is conveniently located to downtown and within walking distance of great shopping and restaurants. The rooms do need some updating and some new carpet. The bed was a bit firm but overall it was reasonable for the price. Would stay again if I was in Manchester. Near the train station, bus stops and 1 or 2 block away from China Town. The hotel needs some upgrading, particularly the carpets in the hallways. The room itself is mostly clean. Would recommend the hotel; but with the recent price hike, I don't know if it remains good value for the money. Beware of thievery! Hotel was ok only thing I would suggest is if u get a room at front of the hotel ask to move road sweeper woke us up at 4 am and other thing is the cleaners banging about at 8 in the next room
