Residence Inn by Marriott - Lloyd Center – Portland

We had 4 adults and they gave us a room with a king bed and pull out sofa. The hide-a-bed mattress was very uncomfortable. We even put it directly on the floor and could still feel every spring in the mattress. The pull out was also small for 2 adults.

We were in 411 which is a first floor room next to the street. Traffic was loud, but the loudest noise that kept us from sleeping was the refrigerator. It kept making banging noises all night, even with the ice maker shut off. The fireplace was great, shower was awesome, and location was fantastic.

Staff was friendly, Check in and out was quick and easy. Although staff did not seem to understand that we had two separate reservations, but we still preferred rooms close to each other. Our dishwasher was leaking when we arrived and of course I stepped in the gigantic puddle... Which they threw a bunch of towels in while we were away. And did not […] remove towels. Coffee and tea and even popcorn n room. Breakfast buffet provided a lot of choices - all mediocre, but edible. Close to mall, but not much else. Must drive to food/drink in evening. Overall everything was great. Older hotel and close to the highway, but I slept through the noise. Everything was clean. We even had a full kitchen and fireplace. Very nice breakfast. Close to a lot of things downtown and to where we needed to go. Staff was very friendly. I recommend this hotel.

They want you to feel welcome in their facility. Helpful smiling staff. Excellent free breakfast. One night had free tacos. Good freeway access. Rooms are nice efficiency apartments. Great for extended or shorter stays.

Good hotel. The rooms were very nice and its close to shopping and public transportation. I would highly recommend this hotel for business travelers or families because of the size of the rooms.

Our room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The train tracks and interstate are directly behind the hotel, but since our room overlooked the courtyard we weren't disturbed by any traffic noise. The heating and cooling systems in the room were vented systems, and not just a system on one side of the room, so the temperature consistent in all […] areas of the suite. I thought the fans were a little loud when the system would turn on, but that might just be because I have radiant floor heat in my home and am just not used to the sound of a forced air system. The breakfast buffet was great. Instead of the typical continental breakfast served at most hotel, they offered hot items including eggs, sausage, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, and waffles. While visiting Portland with my two children we stayed at the Residence Inn - Lloyd Center. This hotel was great with enough room for the children, a wonderful continental breakfast, and easy access to the city. The staff was great, too.

The hotel was amazing. Considering the price we paid via expedia, we got an amazing deal. The staff was friendly, the room had a fridge, dishwasher, sizeable kitchen, and was quite comfortable. Ideal for anyone looking for an extended stay or even just a night away!

As usual with Marriott Residence Inn, the room, free breakfast and staff were great. Free parking was very helpful. The neighborhood didn't have much to offer, but it was a convention center location, so that was to be expected. As an alternative to staying at a much more expensive center city hotel, this worked out great, plus, Portland is easy to […] navigate, so we didn't mind the short commute in and around town at all. My room was very well taken care of. The only issue that came up was that the shower didn't work. A small inconvenience, but they had to move me to another room. This put me behind schedule a half an hour, and the room they moved me into was not what I paid for. I paid for a King, and ended up with a twin. Every one of the Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The King bed had a dip in the middle and the mattress very hard. Otherwise the room was great.

Pretty good. Comfortable bed with good pillows. Nice functioning kitchen with dishwasher/coffee maker. Street/freeway/train noise a bit loud at night. Hotel is in a good area for walking/dining out. Good parking. No elevators to get to the 3rd floor lodging, but the exercise was good. Speaking of exercise, the hotel had a very small fitness center and […] the service with the local gyms was inadequate. Upon check-in we were told that we could work out at the Lloyd Athletic Club for $5day. We paid and went there only to find out that the club was closed for renovations throughout our stay. Returned to the front desk for a refund. We were also given a flyer to work out at LA Fitness nearby for $9.95/week which was not honored by the gym. Management needs to sort those things out before guest spend time traveling about with no success. The tennis court/basketball court on property was an odd size and there was a mountain of furniture debris/garbage surrounding the area. Not appealing. The complimentary breakfast and lite supper/snack in the evening were nice. The internet service went out briefly during our stay and the computers & printers near the front desk area, for guest use, need to be replaced and updated. Lesa meira

This hotel is great! The room we stayed in was like a small apartment: queen bed, full kitchen (stove, fridge, microwave and dishwasher. includes dishes for 4 people), full bathroom, desk and a sitting area with fireplace and television. the room was spacious, clean and well maintained. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to save money […] by having their own food in the fridge (great for families with small children or teens who like to snack!!) or if you are staying for more than two nights. The staff are very friendly!! It is in walking distance to the Max (the light rail) and close to shopping, movie theatre, etc. They do have a breakfast buffet, but it is typical hotel breakfast buffet faire (nothing to write home about) but a benefit is you can take it back to your room and eat it there. There parking lot is around and behind the building and for some reason did not seem to be enough for all the rooms they had (but we had no issue finding parking). Great for families. Convenient kitchen in room. Limited cable channels (e.g. no HBO). Parking can be tight for guests. Handy to metro trains. One block from mega-mall (Lloyd Center).

The hotel staff were pleasant and accommodating. At the last minute they gladly switched us to an ADA compliant room for my husband who is in a wheelchair. The room was large, the bathroom was large, and the kitchen was nicely updated. What makes me give this hotel a lower than 5 score were the bed and the sofa bed. The bed was the most uncomfortable […] I have ever slept in, bar none. We have been home two days and my husband is still trying to recover. The sofa bed that my son had to sleep on was also dreadfully uncomfortable with a mattress that you could feel the springs through. He would have slept on just the couch itself but he is too tall and the couch was extremely hard, so he could not get comfortable that way either. One other note, if you are a light sleeper, the trains that go by at 1am and 3am will wake you up as well as the footsteps over head. This hotel could have benefitted with a little more sound-proofing. However, the hotel was clean, the breakfast buffet was the best we have ever seen at any hotel, and the area is nice and convenient. Lesa meira

It's near Lloyd center Shopping Mall and downtown area. Its pretty convinient. The room is clean and so comfortable. I had my own kitchen in my room! The lobby decorated so nice and it's touching experience!

There was a noisy party in the next room. No coffee at breakfast. Thin blanket on bed. Unusually firm mattress. Unexplained $20 charge to my card after check-out.

Checkin The front desk was nice enough and recommended a third floor room stating that it would be quieter.  When I checked the room it overlooked the freeway and was very noisy.  I went back and asked for a different room and they gave me a second floor room on the inside courtyard. What I didn't mention is that the hotel is like a bunch of condos […] and there are no elevators. Rooms I like the room layout and the kitchen is quite nice for hotel simi-suites with kitchens.  Full refrigerator with ice maker.  Full stove, with pots and pans.  Bathroom sink had a wide counter that has plenty of room for your morning routine.  Layout is such that there is enough room but it is not a suite.   There is no privacy between the living area and the sleeping area. I didn't like the wireless.  don't even offer it if this is the quality of internet you provide.  Can't FaceTime with my loved one. Makes for a lonely week.  E-mail takes 10 minutes or more to update.  Netflix will not run at all.  This is their "High speed wireless".   Lesa meira

A friend and I each booked a room on separate credit cards to lodge 5 members of a yoga group. When we arrived the staff went out of their way to arrange for 2 rooms close together to make our stay more convenient. We found the pull out sofa bed is not comfortable but the regular bed was. The free breakfast was very good with many selections.

For the money this is one of the best bargains out there. Large comfortable rooms, excellent WiFi and good location combine to make it a great place to stay. If you have a dog it's even better. Not situated in downtown, but super easy to get anywhere you need to go with a short walk to the free MAX transit system. Loved the "townhouse" style buildings, and we found the studio suite set-up perfect for the two of us! Reception staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. Free parking was a bonus. Will definitely stay here again.

We used this location as our "base of operations" to assist our son in moving into college. It was excellent and the front desk incredibly helpful with some suggestions for stores and travel routes due to road construction. One drawback was the WiFi. Staff says they continue to investigate a possible off property user of the Residence Inn bandwidth […] which slows down and sometimes even prevents use of the signal when not inside the lobby area. I stayed in the Portland, OR Marriott Residence Inn and while I can't speak for all, have a feeling this entire chain rocks. Every single person I met was not only courteous and personable, but genuinely kind, often going out of their way to help me physically, or making extra suggestions that made a big difference in the enjoyment and comfort of my […] stay. Several times hotel staff let me use the hot tub after very long conference after-parties that went past the posted time the pool/hot tub area was open. A staff person helped me with the electrical connections in the room and thoughtfully brought several extension cords that I needed but hadn't actually asked for. Another staffer held a breakfast and a morning paper for me when an extended meeting made it impossible for me to attend during regular breakfast. I could go on. The breakfasts are also GREAT: eggs, a meat item like bacon or ham, biscuits and gravy, waffles, yogurt, oj, coffee - all you could want. I was impressed by the size of the rooms (huge, and I had a studio!) and the kitchen. It's a full kitchen, not just a hot plate. Stove with oven, microwave, full sized fridge, dishwasher, dishes and pots and pans for cooking. I could have stayed several months very comfortably. The only negative was smell. Room was listed as nonmoking, but smelled like rooms in Vegas I've had where they simply spray room freshener over the last person's smoke. Overall though, STELLAR. We needed a relatively cheap overnight stay, and were pleasantly surprised. We arrived early and they let us park before our room was available. There is a 3-block walk to the free metrolink shuttle downtown, which was very convenient. The room was huge (studio with kitchen), with a very comfortable bed. At breakfast we were expecting waffles and cereal, […] but there was a mini hot buffet with eggs, biscuits/gravy, sausage, potatoes, muffins, yogurt, fresh fruit, etc. Very nice (though overly crowded on Sunday morning!). We recently stayed for 3 nights and were pleasantly surprised with how quiet the room was. The location was near the family members we were visiting and the Lloyd Center for shopping was a block away. I will stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

Location of the hotel is very good, Lloyd shopping center is walking distance. Free train stop to downtown is also walking distance. Free breakfast is not bad, but during weekend foods are not provided sufficiently.

Very quiet setting, not too far from the Max light rail to get to downtown, conveniently located next to shopping center and theaters, great breakfast buffet - not the usual "continental" fare but a full breakfast. Very big rooms - larger than I needed, pretty good cost compared to the hotels closer to the convention center.

I would stay more often except their pet policy is not documented. They don't tell you until you get there that they charge a very high pet fee. Way more than fees charged by similar hotels in Portland.

We visit Portland two to three times a years as we have family there. We have tried various hotels in the area but we always come back to the Residence Inn - Lloyd Center. The location is perfect: near NE Portland's hip neighborhoods, close to downtown and all of the local attractions. The rooms are always clean and the breakfast can not be beat - even […] fresh made waffles. The staff is always on the case and very friendly. But the hotel is beginning to show its age. Facets drip, refrigerators rumble and the TVs are old. The walls are paper thin and unless you book a room on the third level the pounding in the ceiling from people just walking above is unbelieveable. Heaven help you if there are kids above you. Exterior paint is needing some touch up although the grounds are well maintained. The Residence Inn - Lloyd Center is not perfect and the prices are a little high but it meets our needs. Lesa meira
