Rodeway Inn & Suites – New Paltz

When the ladies at the front desk of the New Paltz, NY Rodeway Inn discovered that the ice machine was out if order, they told me I could put my sandwich in the lobby/breakfast area fridge. Breakfast was quick and easy. Nice people.

Quiet. Conveniently right off NY State Thruway. Several diners and restaurants near by. College Diner had a great breakfast. Lots of hot water in tub/shower. Very comfortable bed. No pool. Ice machine was out of order. No TV channel listing/directory, just HBO schedule. Adequate for inexpensive overnight stay in transit.

Hard times are clearly making it difficult for this motel to meet its needs concerning upkeep. Problems in maintenance were the only drawback. Our bathtub drain was very slow. The side door did not lock, and plywood was used in front of the door to cover inadequate paving. Some wallpaper damage was evident in the hallway. Winter prices are very reasonable. Spring, Summer and Fall prices double. Room is clean for nonsmokers. The heater works but runs off and on all night. Breakfast is instant coffee machine, milk, corn flakes or Fruitloops, stale mini donuts and muffins. If you are just looking for a bed and a good night sleep this is all that is offered here.

This hotel is an older one and can use some updating but our room was smoke free, it was clean and quiet which is just what we were looking for. We will stay there again.

Our room was very dirty, with stray hairs all over the bathroom, and under the mattress (?), stained mattresses and mattress covers... The sheets had been laundered, but the blankets had holes and cigarette burns. Also, shower did not work properly. Next time, I'll sleep in the car.

TV remote did not work. Bathtub would not drain Continental breakfast was a joke when they served bagels with nothing but jelly. I would probably stay there again, but WAY overpriced! Very poorly managed.

Our non-smoking room stunk like cigarettes. There was only shampoo and no conditioner. Man at front desk wasnt very friendly. Beds were comfortable.

What a terrible, terrible place to stay. We travel frequently and this hotel is at the bottom of the list! Front desk not very friendly at all! We got to the hotel around 11:00 pm and had no other choice but to stay there. I booked the reservation on line requesting a non-smoking room but when we opened the door this was DEFINITELY a smoking room. Yes, […] there was a no smoking sign in the room NEXT to the ashtray! Cigarette burns on the carpet and chairs. I have no idea where they got the box springs for the mattresses - looked like they came from the side of the road! The refrigerator made such a noise that we unplugged it, the fan in the bathroom did not work, and it was just overall dirty. The drain in the bathrub was clogged so the tub filled up with water. Good for a quick stay; Was unaware of any extra fees for pets until I actually got there. Relatively friendly, although not entirely professional(no one was at the front desk and I had to call for 5 mins plus physically go into their back office to call them out).

IT IS CLOSE TO THE HIGHWAY. it seemed to be under repair. water stains in the ceiling. Broken drain plug in the bathroom sink. water in the tub did not drain right the water level would be over your ankles while you took a shower. the noise level was ok. But you could hear people coming and going.

Not many problems, only light switch above the one bed was broken, and the bath tub did not drain. Good location and very helpful desk crew. Nearby attractions include FDR Home and Library and Vanderbilt Mansion. Located in the Southern part of the Hudson River Valley!

I am so glad I didn't listen to the terrible reviews. This hotel was clean, beds comfortable and near where we were going. I would stay again.. It did not have all the bells and whistles like bigger named hotels have.. This was more like a motel. Just what you need to stay a night. TV, Bed, bathroom, WIFI.. The price was great--the lowest in the area at the time and closest to my training site. The room was neat and clean upon arrival, but cold. I had to turn on the heat, which was a little noisy. The clerk this hotel was rude and nasty. Any person going to New Paltz college has many other choices with hotels who understand that it is a service industry. Having travelled since I was 12 years old, I have never had such a bizarre, rude, nasty encounter. Ever.

This hotel is located close to New Paltz center but is away from the noise. Rooms are clean, breakfast is very limited.

There was practically no hot water. The check in clerk was very polite and friendly, but the clerk on check out was rude and dismissive in response to questions.

The room was clean. But the whole motel had a slight damp smell to it. Perhaps because of flooding from the Hurricane which was 7 weeks ago. Not sure. I have yet to find perfection in a hotel/motel. That being said, I found my accomodations at The Rodeway Inn to be quite suitable.

This is the second time I stayed here, and if all you want is a basic place to sleep and shower, it’s fine. It’s not spotless and the rooms are far from well furnished (or new), but if you’re coming out of the mountains and are too tired to drive back to the City, its works.

Coffee was always available. Quiet neighborhood. the building was not as secure as I thought it should be...a gentleman was roaming the halls at night and testing all the suites' doors to see if any were open! Easy to get too and convenient to restaurant, gas, and school campus I needed to go to.

I stay in a lot of hotels for business and I am not very fussy about hotels and rarely even write reviews for hotels.com - but I feel the need to write this one....DON'T STAY AT THIS HOTEL - hmm where to begin...rude at check in...refusal to give a wake up call...alarm clock in room wasn't working...very dirty room.......no "sleep" option on the remote....and […] breakfast consisted of stale donuts and cereal - NO COFFEE - seriously - NO COFFEE - it wasn't working they said - how hard would it have been to have gove to a dunkin donuts and picked up a "box of joe" for the guests?..........It was not worth any of the money I spent there and you shouldn't waste your money either. The Rodeway Inn & Suites would do much better if they upgraded what they served for their complimentary breakfast. I was not impressed with any of the food choice, but it was all processed surgery items. They should maybe add some fruits to their choice of food. Upgrade their food service area. Old, worn and tired, but clean. Friendly front desk. Room phone needs a dial tone, because I couldn't tell if it worked. Room lighting very dim. The hotel was clean and structurally sound. The hot water was dirty brown and had to run for over 5 minutes (waht a waste!) until it was reasonably clear before taking a showr. Even then it still had an unpleasant odor. At breakfast in the morning there was very little choice and the coffee machine was not working. The hotel supposedly had handicapped accessible rooms, but would not give me one, and there was not a single curb cut for wheelchair access on the entire property. I booked a room for Parents Weekend at SUNY, and a week later they canceled it. I re-booked through Expedia, but the rate had gone up by almost 25%.
