Motel was pretty good, Clothes dryer was useless as it didn't dry my laundry after 2 goes had to leave heater on overnight in room to dry them! Train line was loud but I am a heavy sleeper so it didn't wake me, but if you're a light sleeper it could be a problem.

Didnt have toilet paper the first day but they ran it right up when I called the front desk. The building (stairs) in disrepair. Having a live music place next door was a issue when you need to sleep for work as they played till 2am a few nights. The good out weighed the bad as the room was very clean and smelt clean. The beds were pillow topped and […] very comfortable and the pillows were soft and comfortable. Nice layout with night stand, table with lamp worked great for my laptop and overall work space, bench for my suitcase, coffee pot, ironing board and iron, cable tv, A/C and heat worked great. Here is what this hotel doesn't advertise. Directly next to the hotel are railroad tracks. The train goes by every 30 minutes and it is not quiet. Forget trying to get a decent night of sleep. The other thing you won't know until it's too late is that across the street is a bar that plays live music late into the night. That might be fine if you are […] into that stuff, you can hit the bar, enjoy the music and walk to your hotel....but if you are a family with young kids, their sleep will be disturbed by the music (and then the train). The train noise didn't bother me, but others might be bothered by it. Hotel was alright for what we needed, just a place to lay our heads for a weekend away from the hustle and bustle. Hotel needs some work done on it, but overall was clean.

I stayed here as a staging point for my trip to the Grand Canyon. The town of Flagstaff is lovely. There are a lot of great little shops and it's quite picturesque with the mountains in the background. It really is driving distance to the town centre, although there is a supermarket nearby and a diner open from 6am-9pm just out the front of the hotel […] (the Belgian waffle with fruit and maple syrup was delicious). The staff were lovely. Unfortunately there were no rooms available on the bottom floor, and with no lift, I decided to leave my 35kg suitcase in the boot of my hire car. I was also disappointed that I was never asked if I'd prefer a non-smoking room. My room had clearly had smokers in it previously, it stank so bad. So bad, in fact that my nose actually hurt after 10mins in the room! But I should have asked to move rooms. I arrived early and the staff went out of their way to check me in early. While I was waiting for my room the front desk staff gave me dinner suggestions. Nothing good about this hotel but that it had a bed to sleep in and had a restaurant that served a good breakfast. Condition of room, bathroom, and hotel needs a lot of help putting it nicely. No bugs or anything, but our room was cleaned only once in the 4 days we were there. No coffee maker in the room, even though it was listed in the description and on the hotel sign, and we asked for one.

There was still soap residue from the previous people who stayed there on the sink. A wash cloth left in the shower, dirt in the tub. The tv did not work at all...! Really bad experience at this Howard Johnsons :(

Seemed like a room in progress. TV facing to the side where you could not watch it from the bed. TV did not get any channels anyway. Coffee maker on table where there was no outlet to plug it into. Howard Johnson's should be ashamed to even sell a room at this nasty, dirty, scummy hotel. I could not believe the parking lot was full, but I am sure this was only because it was the 4th of July. The room had filth built up on every horizontal surface; there was absolutely NO bathroom door, there was peeling paint over the bathroom sink; the carpet […] was filthy, the ONE electrical plug was shorted out and I had to buy a breaker bar to be sure I didn't blow up my computer. I paid for 5 rooms and we received keys to only 2 rooms. They said the other keys were lost. The toilets plugged and we were handed a plunger and told to fix it ourselves. Electrical plugs did not work. No pool or spa as advertised. Wi-Fi did not work. I think Howard-Johnson's would be embarrassed.

The absolute worst hotel I have ever been too, and I have stayed in places with dirt floors. No personal keys to the rooms, had to get management to open our room every time we left, one guest could not get out of her room and had to wait an hour. This hotel was so disgustingly filthy and in disrepair that if I hadn't been so tired, I would have gone one and not even stopped. We stayed in a second-story room with uneven stairs up to it (some were 2" steps,some were 10" steps). There was no rhyme or reason to how they were built (long, long ago). The carpet in the room was filthy, there was a circle of some kind of disgusting spill beside my bed next to the night table that had never been washed off and a burn mark from someone's iron in another place. The room was OK for place to stay but first the key did not work and had to get another. Second the door was very hard to open and close. Third on our third night stay when we returned to the room the room was not made up and when we complained to the management they said oops. Fourth the fire alarm started to beep and went off, when we inquired about […] it they said it was nothing and if it went out again to disconnect it. I would probably find a Motel 6 or Travel lodge on my next stay there as all I need is a clean room and a clean bead to stay. The knobs on the A/C spun all the way around, and I didn't know if I was turning on the heat or the A/C. I was very tired from some 14 hours of traveling, and didn't want to try to figure it out. So, it was somewhat cool outside, so I opened the windows. However, the close proximaty of the train tracks was annoying, and about every 15-20 minutes, a […] train went by. I was feeling a little ill already, but I had a horrible nights' sleep nonetheless. This seems to be the trend at a lot of hotels/motels: only 1 pack of condiments for the coffee. There is enough coffee for 2-3 cups, but why only 1 sugar and 1 creamer for the entire pot of coffee? I asked and was able to get more from the front desk. This motel is on the historic Route 66, and I'm sure that this motel has been here for quite some time. However, the caulking job around the bathtub looked like it was done by a novice. The water kept changing temperatures during my shower. There is a restaurant attached to the motel, which was convenient. Prices were reasonable and the food was pretty good. The spa was in the back, generally secluded from the highway traffic, and was comfortable. It was connected to the pool by a dividing wall, so you could go from the spa to the pool without completely getting out of the water. The pool water was rather cold-I did not go in the pool. (This was early September.) The staff was very polite and courteous. All in all, it wasn't worth what we paid. I think it's worth about half of that. Lesa meira

Our room was clean and the beds were terrific - it's an old hotel that has been renovated, but our room still had a problem or two - but nothing that detracted from our stay. The magnetic keycards did not work so every time we wanted back into our room we had to have someone open the doors for us. Although I didn't expect a lot based on the cheap price, I was disappointed. The beds were very uncomfortable and the place needs to be painted badly. It's dark and dreary. The highest light bulb was maybe 40 watt, and several bulbs were missing in the bathroom. During my 4 night stay, 2 people walked into my room. The entire stay was a disaster! Ewe reserved a non smoking 2 queen room, when we got there we had the choice of 3 rooms. A smoking 2 queen that smell so bad. A 2 queen that the lock was broken on, or a single king that the ac was broken in. The manager did not seem to really care at all. The neighborhood was bad.

I've stayed at some "cut-rate" hotels but I expected much more from a Howard Johnson's. The beds were terrible; old, bumpy, kind of smelly! The refer wasn't even plugged in, then was noisy when we did plug it in and never really got cool. The railroad tracks are literally across the street! Leider entsprach das Hotel nicht den sonst üblichen Standards eines Motels. Die Zimmer waren dreckig und ziemlich heruntergekommen. Der Service war gut, da man eh niemanden angetroffen hat. Positiv ist die Lage zum Südeingang des Grand Canyon. Doch diese sehr gute Lage kann man auch durch die Nutzug eines anderen Hotels haben. Das Diner im Eingangsbereich […] ist jedoch unschlagbar.
