Golden Eagle Resort – Stowe

The room furnishings exceeded my expectations with fireplace and mini kitchen. The one warning would be to not take a room on the ground floor. There was a family of four above me and the noise from the kids walking and running around was really unpleasant. It was especially frustrating given that the hotel seemed empty during this off season time.

We stayed at the Golden Eagle for my sister's wedding. It has a great location right on the Mountain Rd but close to.the.genteel of town. There were two great bars within a few minutes walk. There were also snowshoeing trails out the back of the resort. We paid extra for a fireplace suite. The room was very large but had not been updated in sometime. […] The. Carpet and bed seemed new though. The fireplace was hidden in a corner and probably not worth the extra money. For the price this wasn't a bad hotel in Stowe. Lesa meira

Although our stay was short, we still enjoy the beautiful views of Stowe. The hotel staff was very friendly and always there to help. The location was great, close to all the restaurants and right on the mountain, about a 10 minute drive up to the ski hills. The hotel gym was quite small but still convenient. The game room and pool/hot tub were great. […] The room itself was clean, but very outdated. Our room was beautiful and the grounds were extensive. Nice little cafe on the property. We were only able to stay one night but my daughter and I wished we could have stayed longer. Complimentary wine and cheese in the lobby. Would definitely go again.

Rooms clean and comfortable but dated (broken furniture, old coffee maker, etc). Pool table in rec room broken (wouldn't return cue ball, eats quarters, etc), ping - pong paddles missing, rec area needs some attention - especially for family visitors...

A few friends and I decided to go skiing at Stowe for a few days. We were only supposed to stay for one night, and ended up going for 2. The first night, we were at a hotel down the street with a similar star rating. It was a world of a difference. Great place close to the slopes! With two beds and cot, we were surprised to have plenty of room for 5. Very comfortable and well maintained. Great spa and hot tub for after ski relaxing. Cute restaurant for breakfast. Would like to have had softer pillows... but we will certainly be back!

Wonderful stay, and while the hotel decor may be a little on the out-dated side, the hotel was very well kept and very clean. The property is spread out in several buildings, all rather small, which made the surroundings very quiet and made us feel almost as if we had our own property. There are laundry facilities on the property, which came in handy […] as we were in Stowe skiing for a week. Huge hot tub in the Spa area, and a nice indoor pool of good size - albeit almost too warm for lap training, but great for anyone just wanting to relax in the pool.The hotel is right next to Ye Old England Inne with a lovely pub and restaurant, huge selection of beer and very good food. There were a few more pubs and restaurants across the street from the hotel, but not nearly as good as Ye Old England Inne. Lesa meira

I have been to Stowe many times and spent half my years in Vermont. This is the first time staying here and it was clean but i will not stay here again. I was in room 122 and the temperature control was subpar with it being either too hot or cold. The worst part was tje adjoining room. Our room had a doorway adjoining another room. There was no key […] to lock this doorway and you could hear everything the people next door were doing. It was absolutely annoying not to mention unsafe and not private. The Golden Eagle is a good choice for a family stay in Stowe at a modest cost,The rooms are simple and clean and the indoor pool and small gym is a hit with the kids.Great location near restaurants,small moivie theater and shops

Good value for the money. Our room had a wood burning fireplace which was nice. ( vs gas or faux electric.)

I LOVED the place!!! The room was spacious, clean and comfortable and the grounds were fabulous! We were very pleased with our stay. The room was very clean and quiet. The staff were very helpful regarding places to go or places to dine at. Their breakfast was top notch and a nice way to start our day.

We travelled with our Mothers and found the Golfden Eagle was just perfect...so much so that when we return we wil stay there ourselves. Staff were very professional and could not do enough for you. Great breakfast in the Colonial Cafe!!

The Golden Eagle Resort is located near restaurants, and downtown Stowe. We loved the peacefulness of the resort. We would caution that the rooms are dated, but they are very clean, the beds good, the heating/cooling options very good. Bring your bikes (we didn't :() and enjoy the trails. This is a very nice property with lovely grounds and a friendly staff. Our room had a small patio opening on to a lawn over looking a pond. This was a very relaxint setting.

Wish we could have stayed for longer. This hotel ticked all the boxes for us. It is not just an ideally located base for touring Stowe, Vermont and the Green Mountains, but also has well appointed rooms, helpful staff and lots of little touches to make you feel welcome. Would happily recommend!

I would stay again just for more than one night. Excellent hotel with much to do and see. Would have been better if it were closer to burlington but it was a last minute decision and with a concert going on in essex junction cant really exspect to have many hotels to choose from. The room was clean and comfy. Excellent hotel.

The term resort is not really appropriate here. It's essentially a motel that just happens to be in a tourist area. The pool was fine, and the grounds were nice, but the room itself was so disappointing. Outdated, stains on our quilt, uncomfortable bed. I slept terribly. The shower leaked all over the floor. I would definitely not return.

We stayed there on the labor day weekend and it was the cheapest available at the last minute, so we werent expecting too many things from the resort. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived there late at night (1 am). We were greeted by their reception who had the paperwork and keys to our rooms ready. The next morning we had a chance to explore […] the resort and their cafe. Their cafe (Colonial Cafe) is breakfast only, but their breakfast was one of the best in the area. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Their bathrooms could use some TLC but were very clean. The house keeping staff was prompt and courteous. They also had a game room with a pool table, ping pong and some arcade games. They also have a fishing pond onsite and rent out fishing rods which was awesome for us newbies. We did not get a chance to check out the other amenities like the spa etc, but we vowed to come back and spend more time at the resort. Lesa meira

Reasonably clean and soundproofed motel style rooms. Fitness center is nothing to write home about - small and limited exercise equipment. It great value for the price and breakfast at the restaurant was convenient and reasonable good

Great place - very clean and pleasant. My only knock was the wi-fi service did not work from our room. it worked find around the main building but not the building our room was located in.

The hotel and resort altogether was in a quiet neighborhood and was fairly clean. The main disappointing thing about it was that it requires major uplifting... The rooms were seemingly built in the 70s or 80s and haven't been modified much if at all since. The AC was very noisy, the TV was an old big box one, the furniture was very old, the shower made […] a scary noise when started... you get the picture. Everything was working though, sometimes surprisingly. On the other hand, the staff was very polite and helpful, the breakfast was very good and although very old, the room was clean. We were there for a total of 8-9 hours altogether so that considered, it was an ok pick at best. I will not plan a vacation back there though, unless they mentioned heavy renovations... our first time at this hotel -- very nice. the on-site amenties were great for the kids. we checked out the pond for fishing, the pirate ship playground, experienced both the indoor and outdoor pools, played shuffle board and horse shoes. what the kids loved the best was the game room -- lots of ping pong, air hockey and pool games were played. the […] room was adequate for sleeping (nothing special) -- would not go here just for the rooms -- it was the on-site amenities that would get me to go back. This is a basic hotel at a great location. The hotel staff were helpful. We struggled to open the windows in the room and also had to ventilate the room because it had a strong smell when we arrived. The room was clean but stuffy. Breakfast is not included.

This resort hotel was fantastic for the price. It had everything we needed. Indoor and outdoor pool as well as gym with sauna and games room for kids. Very pleasant and hospitable staff. Close to everything and a stones throw from a great walking path for walks, biking or what ever. Your choice of great dining establishments with a great variety of […] ethnic cuisine to tickle your palate. Great little shops with many unique and high end quality merchandise. While the motel is older, the staff and amenities made up for the age. Our beds were very comfortable and the towels and linens fresh and up to date. The room was spotless. We were greeted by a warm and friendly staff. We would recommend Golden Eagle to our friends.
