BLUE HORIZON HOTEL – Vancouver

The view from our room was stunning and the staff were friendly and professional. It is also the perfect location for shopping on Robson, visiting the Art Gallery, or strolling down to English Bay. We very much enjoyed our stay and will stay here again next time.

We were in town one night between cruises. The hotel was less than a mile from the Canada Place cruise terminal--a fairly easy walk even dragging our luggage. It took about 30 minutes to walk there. Lovely hotel, very close to Cruise Terminal and central to all shopping and food districts. Tour operators picked up from Hotel and regular services from outside Lobby. Very handy and reasonable Shennigans hotel next door for pub meals. Although Hotel was completing touches to refurbishment of cafe and eating areas this did not impact on stay. As soon as the lobby remodel is complete (it is supposed to be complete by the time I write this review) this hotel should be one of the best in the West End.

The room was great with a spectacular view of the ocean.Bed and pillows were very comfortable and there was a nice Asian influence to decor.With a small outside balcony, and a corner view with windows and reflecting mirror we were able to watch the sunset over the ocean from inside or out. It would have been nice to have a small table and 2 chairs on […] the balcony...that would have been perfect instead of taking inside bed table and chair outside.Robson street is close to Stanley park and there are great restaurants...especially Korean. As the hotel reception was under renovation and the hottub was not working , the overall rating was lower as it would have been 4.5 out of 5 if the above had been better. A pleasant room with a wonderful high-altitude view of Vancouver, in a very central location. Hotel parking was much easier than expected, extremely simple and convenient.

The hotel restaurant & lobby were under construction so that was a bit messy but not really a big deal. There was a $15 per day charge for parking, but that is to be expected at a downtown hotel. The staff was nice as was the room. Room was quiet, clean & comfortable. Bed was very firm. Overall, a good stay.

Room was great, great view & we were given a free upgrade. Hotel lobby was under construction but did not distract from our stay. Location on Robson St was perfect for walking access to everything in downtown Vanc. An Expensive Hotel as there is no breakfast included in the price.It is very clean and well appointed, though we did have a problem with noisy other guests on our floor,shouting and slamming doors all through the night,even after being asked to be quiet at 4am,and saying they were sorry,it continued to the early hours. This is one of the largest standard hotel rooms that we have stayed in. There is an accessible balcony which allowed us to have a great view of the city as we went for a superior room which meant a higher floor. The free in room Wi-Fi was excellent, the beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean with friendly housekeeping staff. There is a large […] mirrored wardrobe and a fridge for your own use both of which can be rare in a city hotel. The location is great with easy access to public transport as well as sightseeing tours stopping outside the hotel. It is only an 8-10 minute walk to the main city hub with various shops and restaurants along the way. Overall Blue Horizon was a great choice and we would definitely stay there again. Lesa meira

Great location – we were going on a cruise so it was only a few minutes taxi ride to Canada Place. The room was fantastic. 29th floor with great views of the city & surrounding mountains The room was really big, a large king bed, flat screen TV, 2 chairs/footstool/coffee table, desk/chair, fridge & tea/coffee making facilities. It was spotlessly clean The […] staff were very friendly and Inlets Bistro was lovely – we ate there twice for breakfast and once for dinner, beautiful food We had a problem with the toilet flushing (or more correctly, blocking), rang housekeeping & within 2 minutes a couple of hotel staff had appeared & sorted it all out for us. Disagree with some reviewers who said lifts took ages & reception was small – we never waited very long for a lift & we checked out with 4 other couples & certainly didn’t feel cramped. Wi-fi was free & worked perfectly – I’ve read previous reviews that said it either didn’t work at all or was very slow. Not so – jet lag had me awake early & I spent a couple of hours sending emails & using the internet – had no problems at all The hop-on hop-off bus stops right outside, which was great. There’re plenty of shops nearby selling everything from major brand toiletries/snacks to beers, clothes/electronics & loads of other goodies. Although we didn’t try any, there were also lots of restaurants in the area. Would definitely stay here again – and would definitely recommend it to my family & friends. Lesa meira

This hotel is great! I have absolutely nothing negative to say about it. The location of the hotel is perfect - still in the middle of the action, but far enough from the nightclub scene to allow peace at night. All in all, an excellent place to stay.

Our three night stay at the Blue Horizon was great. The hotel is well located for buses to the West End and Downtown areas and the room was comfortable and clean and the staff were friendly but not intrusive. We would definitely stay here again.

t has a great location on robson st but the only thing was the walls are a bit thin and you can hear people in the hall ways and some room activities. Staff really friendly.

We visit fairly often, which raises my one disappointment. We have stayed there 12 nights in the last 6 months. Our most recent visit was delayed one day by a local emergency, but there was no relief. We were charged for the room. Loyalty may have its rewards, but not at Blue Horizon. I had spent four nights in the Blue Horizon hotel and thought the hotel was great. If you like shopping and eating out, you will be at a perfect location; from diner style to a high-end restaurant with many stores to shop near by. Stanley Park is also within walking distance. Everyone at the Blue Horizon Hotel was very helpful and the fact that major bus lines stopped out front was great. Nice hotel, love the all around windows in our room, balcony and room size is awesome too! Best of all is its proximity to Robson Street which means convenience and particularly the Japanese convenience street across the street.

Overall, a nice hotel for the money. The hotel seems to be have been a former condo or apartment. The room itself was clean and roomy. There was an odd smell of paint or glue in the hallway. Even a trace in the room. The bathroom was far too small. Very cramped for just one person, let alone two. The bathroom ceiling was just above my head. And I'm […] not a tall person. The water pressure was excellent. There's an ice bucket in the room, but no ice machines to found anywhere; annoying. The balcony is tiny. So don't expect to sit out there. It's just a ledge big enough to look out. The free wi-fi worked fine on my computer. No concierge at this hotel. So you'd have to book reservations yourself. The front desk was often busy and it took time just for a simple question. A bellman didn't even know where what was where; I found that odd for a person who is supposed to be living in Vancouver. The lower floors have no view. So if you want a view, you'd have to book something over 10 floors and above (and that cost more). Didn't like the fact the room had no mini-fridge. So if you bought some food or fruit during your day, there was no place to put it. We had to keep or fruit on the air conditioner (which is a window unit.) Seems outdated to have one (and they are noisy) as opposed to central air. There is a small indoor pool and gym below the lobby. It was too hot and chlorine stifling to be in there. Again, this hotel is good for a person, couple, or a family on a budget. Lesa meira

We very much enjoyed downtown Vancouver, especially Granville Island Market, a must visit. The hotel could have been more accommadating, like allowing a late checkout when a parade closed the street and any exit from the hotel until 4:PM. Parking is a little pricey.

My family had 4 rooms. They were clean, the beds and pillows were comfortable and it was quiet. Nice small cafe in the lobby. Reasonable rates for Vancouver.
