City Suites Hotel – Chicago

Hot room, AC didn't work. Maintenance man goes home at 5pm. Anything goes wrong after that your out of luck. At check out the still charged me for my 1.00 stack to my credit card. I'd rather camp.

City Suites is a European styled hotel right down in the middle of a busy section of Edgewater. I had not been there before but was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it. It was quiet, clean and friendly.

Wasn't expecting much based on the other reviews read prior to making reservation. It was much smaller than what I expected. Checked in late so expected to get a room next to the train station. The room was very warm so we just turned the air on to block out the noise. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Bedding helped improved the feel […] of the room. The shower head was lose and sprayed all over WAY outside in the bathroom. Hotel met our needs. Somewhere close to stay to Childrens Memorial where we had to be at 6:30 am. the following morning. This hotel is right next to the train. I woke up at 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, 3:30, 4:30 and 5 AM. I do not recommend this hotel if you want to sleep during your stay. Good location, only thing good about my stay.

We booked this hotel for the convenience of its location. The hotel was old and need updating and maintenance but the staff were very friendly and the beds were comfortable. I'd stay here again.

We needed a place to stay before a cubs game and this worked perfectly!! It was nice and clean and we will stay here again. In and out parking was close too!?

Hotel was very clean and bed very comfortable. We asked for room away from train and staff was very accomodating to us. Parking was about 2 blocks away and very easy to find. It was overall a very good experience and we will definately return again.

Nice hotel, nice neighborhood, nice people. Free use of very large Bally's Fitness a few blocks away. Overall we were very pleased.

The hotel was right where we wanted it to be. The rooms are very small but it didn't bother us for one night out on the town. You'll see others say that it's noisy because it's close to the El. That's true and it's personal as to how well you deal with it. For example, I was fine with it. My wife was fine with the train coming but got annoyed by the […] automated amouncement when the train came. For me, the radiator drove me nuts. It was make some clanking noise starting around 2am. I didn't feel like calling the front desk for assistance at that time. I tried to fiddle with it but it just got the room hot so I opened a window which made the train worse. I'm writing a lot of negatives but it was fine for what it was. Everything was clean. The location is awesome if that's the scene you're looking for. This hotel is in the middle of a bustling neighborhood which gave us great exposure to the city - a comedy club next door, an Italian restaurant around the corner, etc. The 'L' train platform was right outside our window but the noise didn't really bother us. I have stayed at the City Suites 14 times now, I stay there each time I visit Chicago, which is 2-3 times per year. The hotel location is perfect for a LBGT visitor as it is a stone's throw away from Boystown. The fact that it is right next to the Belmont L station also makes it very convenient for getting downtown in 15 minutes. The hotel itself is […] not the Ritz, it is an old building and it shows, but the rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable. Depending on where your room is, it can be a bit noisy with the L tracks, but again, you are in the city so you should not expect it to be very quiet. Service is almost always friendly and courteous, no frills but perfectly ok. I would definately recommend the hotel for anyone visiting Chicago who needs a good, convenient, comfortable place to stay. As long as you understand that it is located in a busy neighborhood, close to the L and you don't have unreasonable luxury expectations, I promise you the City Suites is the right hotel for you. This hotel is in a great location if you're visiting the Wrigley area. I was attending a show at The Metro, so this was in perfect walking distance. 24 hour Starbucks down the street was a double bonus. This is the 2nd Broughton hotel I've stayed at through hotels.com. It is also the second time I've been put in a unfortunately located room. I'm not […] sure if they place third-party booked rooms in these by default. This visit was between the hotel's laundry room and the train station. Pretty loud room, but quite confortable. I'm sure if I'd requested a different room, they might accommodate. The only reason why I wouldn't recommend this hotel is because it is just to far from the downtown business area. Otherwise this hotel was very comfortable.

Great hotel. When booking, request a room on the quiet side of the hotel. This hotel is basically next to the Chicago El stop. If you are on the train side you will hear the conductor's voice, train bells and general noises.

My son and I recently stayed at the City Suites Hotel on the last leg of a five city baseball trip. We selected City Suites based on its close proximity to Wrigley Field. When we arrived we were told that our room with two double beds was not available but we could have two single rooms which we found agreeable. The area around the hotel had some good […] restaurants and was well travelled at night. The rooms were small yet functional and staff was helpful. If were in the area again we would return. Parking wasn't very convenient-a block away, but it was better than parking on the street.

Nice hotel even nicer location. Fun neighborhood with lots of character and activity 24/7. Subway less than a block away parking also located within a block or two. Staff was eager to make my stay enjoyable.

A great place to stay for visiting Wrigley Field. Close to the L and within walking distance, City Suites was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We were pleased with the entire experience, including the reasonable price of the high-quality products in the mini bar. We will definitely stay there again!

Room with 2 beds very spacious with the separate sitting area. I am a light sleeper and asked to be on the "quiet" side of the hotel. The hotel is OK. Its right next to an L stop so that is nice. The neighborhood is rainbow which is great if your into that. Good location for Cubs games/Wicker Park/Lincoln Park.

City Suites Hotel is very convenient to Wrigley Field and is the reason we booked the hotel. We walked it in less than 15 minutes.We had a deluxe suite with two double beds and a small sitting room. It was modest but satisfactory for our needs. The room was on the side next to the train station and the noise could be heard but did not bother us. We […] did not stay long enough to use the train but would if we visited again since it is so convenient. We found a public parking garage nearby for about $20 for an overnight stay. The hotel was clean and beautiful. It was close to Wrigley Field and a lot of different restaurants. It was also right next door to the train. The hotel is convenient for staying overnight for Cubs games, and the surrournding neighorhood is nice. The hotel is old, the room was small and it was very noisy as it is located right next to a train stop. I could hear the conductor announcing the train stops from hotel room with the windows closed.

Excellent boutique hotel near the "Boystown" area of Chicago. Very nice facility and friendly staff. I will definitely stay here again!

I found the location to be fantastic! It's a few steps from the Belmont connecting EL train. Parking is underground structure however an additional $22. Like many others said the room is tiny and the elevator is even smaller (fits 4 back to back). The room was very toasty if you are naturally cold. I on the other hand am naturally warm, so I left the […] bathroom window open when I left for the day (seemed to do the trick). The remote for the tv had close to dead batteries which was very annoying having to rotate the batteries almost every 4 channels. Comfortable bed and pillows and helpful staff. I needed a room in the city at the last minute, and although I was working downtown I stayed here anyway. This is a very nice hotel. The room was small but well appointed. The bathroom clean with good shower head and water pressure. This hotel is in a nice neighborhood, and close to Wrigley Field and The Briar St. Theatre (Blue Man Group). There are […] plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The only problem is that the hotel sits right next to the EL Purple Line Station. While this does make for easy train access it also makes the rooms on that side of the building a little noisey. Being used to city life, it really didn't bother me that much, but light sleepers should request a room on the far side of the building. Also be ready for the smallest elevator in the city. Great Location and nice rooms, Staff very Friendly and accomodating.

Loved this hotel's location. Right at the Belmont L Stop. Quick ride to downtown, easy access via train from O'hare and Midway. The room was huge, bed was super comfy. The shower pressure was terrible. But I fixed that with a screwdriver. I will definitely stay here again. Perfect for people visiting Boystown neighborhood.

Two friends and I went for a two night stay - easy access to 'El' train for Michigan Ave. Watched Sunday football near Wrigley Field. Did notice that it's very colorful (rainbow like) in the area. Felt safe even through we weren't in "Kansas" any more. Took in a concert at the Vic Theatre and dinner after. Great location!

The hotel was located just feet from the blue line which made getting around town very easy. For the traveler on a somewhat tight budget I would definately recommend this hotel. The rooms are cozy, yet comfortable. The neighborhood felt safe and has plenty of restaurants around to find a good bite to eat. nice clean hotel -interesting neighborhood -plenty of shops, restaurants,etc, right outside your door. -easy 6 block walk to Wrigley Field and a very fun walk back...stopping for cocktails in wrigleyville and enjoying the nightlife. I was surprised at the spaciousness of this room despite its unassuming appearance from the street. Everything was great about this hotel from the comfort of the beds to the continental breakfast, except for the parking situation. The hotel is a "green" hotel, and was veery clean and efficient. The staff was friendly and always available to answer any questions we had. The location was half a block away from an El station, and had a considerable amount of local shops and restaurants well within walking distance. Great location, close to Wrigley field, easy to get downtown on the train. A/C is very loud.

We stayed at the City Suites Hotel for 4 nights. We loved the fact that we could park our car and either walk or take the El anywhere we wanted to go. Wrigley Field was within walking distances and there were plenty of restaurants nearby to satisfy our needs.
