When planning a trip Venice we were advised not to stay in or very close to Venice. So we decided on this hotel only 30 min drive to Venice. And we hit the jackpot. This hotel is royalty. The garden surrounding the hotel is HUGE and very romantic. The hotel is like nothing else. It’s more like a mansion. The room was very big, more like a suite. I could not believe the elegance for this price. The whole time we stayed there I was expecting someone to slap me in the face and charge me three times more. We are still amazed by value for our money. It’s like something from the TV show bachelor. Highly recommended.

Venice’s beach suburb, Lido is 20 minutes from San Marco by waterbus. By the late 19th century it was the smartest bathing resort in Italy. Today, the 18 km-long sandbar is still popular with families enjoying the warm Adriatic beaches. The glitzy Venice Film Festival is held in Lido every August - September.

if you are making a trip to venice i would definately recommend hotel des bains. location and facilities are top class from the moment we entered to the moment we left it was totally an enjoyable experience that will have us returning for many years to come i expect. with a beautiful pool area and private beach not to mention the free included private […] speed boat to venice every half hour makes this the number one choice for me. "The best Venice experience ever"
I honestly can't recommend this hotel highly enough. It is late victorian in style, with lovely public spaces full of light and palms and elegant comfortable furniture. The bedrooms are very spacious and sumptuous with stunning sea views and elegant marble bathrooms. The breakfast buffet was extensive and delicious. This was our first visit to the […] Hotel des Bains and we will most certainly be back. We love Venice and found spending time on the Lido to be the best of both worlds, some time on the beach and then the free water taxi to and from San Marco in the evening (although you can go anytime of day). "Majestic spleandour"
Build on a truly grand scale, Hotel des Bains stands as an elegant reminder of a bygone era. I think my first thoughts upon walking the long corridors to my room were that it reminded me a lot of the Overland Hotel from The Shining and I half expected to have Danny ride by me on his tricycle at any moment. Don't expect any axe-wielding caretakers however […] during your stay, the staff here are very friendly and are absolute perfectionists about the quality of service that they offer. Having never been to Venice before, I was slightly concerned that Hotel des Bains would be too far away from the main attractions but it truly is a simple 10min vaporetto boat ride away from St Marks Square and either going there or returning was a joy as Venice is best seen from the water. What's even more pleasing though is knowing that you have an escape from the crowds who probably aren't even aware that the Lido is an oasis of peace with a beautiful beach to rival any in Italy. "Venedigs alte Dame"
Wer einen Hauch von Luxus am Lido verspüren möchte, dem sei das Des Baines ans Herz gelegt. Tolle Lage, eindrucksvolles Haus, riesiger Pool, eigenes Motorboot-Service zum Markusplatz. Einziges Manko: die Gelsen können einem so manche geruhsame Nacht vermiesen und wer den Concierge um Hilfe ersucht, hat leider Pech gehabt. Dennoch: empfehlenswert!
"Voor een bezoek aan Venetie is dit een prima keuze"
Het Lido is een kwartiertje varen van het st Marco maar geeft je het strand en de zee en wat meer rust dan Venetie zelf. Het "grand hotel" heeft de allure van oude tijden maar is daarbij goed onderhouden. Buiten de Tv op de kamer geen moderne opsmuk, je moet er een beetje van houden maar het biedt grote kamers, lange brede gangen en enorme zalen. Een […] verrassing was het enorme zwembad (ca 30 x 15 en 3.50 diep), de tennisbaan en een grote tuin. En dat zonder gillende kinderen ......... kortom ... prima Lesa meira
"J'y retournerai probablement pour me sentir de nouveau au 20eme siecle"
Le petit dejeuner buffet excellent avec vue de la picine très agreable pour commencer la journée. La navette gratuite vers le "port" de l'hotel Excelsior est très utile pour visiter la vieille Venise. Bien organisée.
