Let us check in early (9:40 AM) after red-eye flight, airport pickup and delivery, took us to Old Sacramento and picked us up in the evening, shower needed maintenance, TV had no controller and hotel guy had problem getting it to work, finally got it working (satellite TV), price was great (special rate thru Hotel.com)

Not too bad, overall this hotel was average. "Kitchenette" in our room not really a kitchenette at all. Was a countertop with a small refrigerator and a microwave. No utensils, no plates, no cups, etc.

The room was pretty clean. The halls smelled like pot. My daughter's bathroom smelled like someone smoked pot in it and there were pot ashes in the tub. Overall the hotel grounds were dirty with Mc Donalds bags and cups all around. The area is loaded with homeless people.

The stay was great took a shuttle to concert, very nice driver and great service all around

Loved it. Had a problem with the air conditioner and they fixed it right away, and told us we could switch rooms if they couldn't fix it. Everyone was very nice. The restaurant, Sekau, that was across the parking lot was excellent.

Great value for the money. Nice breakfast. Good sized room, beds were a little hard.

Only real complaint is that there was no bottled water in most of the vending machines and the one that usually had it was sold out.

Very pleasant with a filling and tasty breakfast. Better than I expected. Room was clean and well cared for. Refrigerator didn't work and a repair person was dispatched almost immediately and got it working. We were extremely satisfied with this really nice hotel. Thank you

Great location, great place to stay is you are traveling by air, but a terrible recent choice of television service by Direct TV. g

Overall the hotel was nice, clean and priced right. But the biggest problem was with our keys to get into our room. We had to go back 5 or 6 times to get a key that worked. Very frustrating!! They had to keep reprogram our keys. Other then that, it was great.

We were put in a newly painted room. When we were assigned to it the front desk even told us that it was not quite aired out. We went to it and found out we could hardly breath the fumes were so powerful. We were assigned another room. We could not contact the front desk from our room because the phones were not working. We needed a wake-up call to […] catch our flight in the morning so we got out of bed went downstairs and told them about the phone. They told us that we did not know how to use our phone, but wrote down in their book that they would give us a call the next morning. NO CALL CAME the next morning. When we left we went to the front desk and we told them that we did not get called. They told us that the phones were not working so they could not call us. "Really?" It does not take a rocket scientist to figure that out. They could have come up to the room to tell us. There is more, but I think you get the picture! However, the ladies that cleaned the rooms were fantastic with great personalities! It was also a decent location with restaurants nearby. Lesa meira

Hotel was nice. We were told the room had 2 queen beds and a bunk bed. The bunk bed was not present and the phones did not work. The hotel was going through construction so I can understand the phone line but hotels.com should not have said there was a bunk bed when there wasn't.

We were pleasantly surprised. It's not top notch, but the room was spacious, clean and conveniently located near the areas in which we needed to be. We also liked having the kitchenette; it came in handy for storing and preparing things for our toddler. Being able to store ice cream for a midnight snack was wonderful. We had an enjoyable stay.

Great time. The only problem I had was every time I left somewhere and came back to the room, my room key would t work. I must've had 8 keys by the time I left :((

Hotel has a tired run down feeling about it . However the hotel is in the process of upgrading their facilities. The hotel is not a "dump" and a you get a pretty good deal for the price.

Stayed one night and caught the free shuttle at 4am for an early flight out of SMF. Perfect for this purpose. Good staff, great driver, very helpful.

Hotel is under renovation. The building I was in was plagued with smells from paint and I presume adhesives. The last night of my stay I could not take it any longer and had management move me to another building. The staff was courteous and tried very hard to please, but the physical plant is in rough shape.

We stayed at Hawthorne Suites the night before we left for vacation. Had an early flight and it was so convenient. Shuttle to the airport and allowed us to leave our car. Restful way to start our trip, and a great breakfast. Thank you.

This hotel is not in a 'bad' part of town as some reviews have suggested. I stayed here with my boyfriend and we thought it was fine. No homeless or seedy people around. The hotel was well lit. Close drive to midtown where we had dinner plans. Easy drive in from airport. Would stay here again.

Our 4 room keys carried by 4 different people got deactivated at the same time. They were away from cell phones and any other magnetic devices and carried in different pockets. I call them from the building's phone and they made me walk to the lobby in the middle of the pouring rain instead of sending someone. When I got there there was a long line […] of people and just one person in the lobby (it was around 8/9 pm). The wireless signal was very poor in both of the rooms I stayed, even though they were not next to each other but in the same corridor. They sent somebody to fix it, but the signal was still on and off. We could still connect computers to internet through wire, but any other wireless devices were not able to connect. The hotel is within easy driving distance for family gatherings during the Christmas holidays. The room is spacious with 2 queen beds for 3 adults. We appreciate the complimentary full breakfast. Easy access to freeway ramps and a gas station nearby is a plus.

When me and my husband first walked into the room, we thought "Wow! This is a great deal." The room appeared to be nice and clean at first, but we all know how looks can be deceiving. There were make up or nail polish stains in the linens on the bad, and it had me somewhat worried as to whether or not it was even clean. Another large disappointment […] was when I needed some utensils for our breakfast, and I was looking at the dishes available provided by the hotel, and they did not look clean at all. It definitely would not be something I would eat off of. The refrigerator made an awful ticking sound in the middle of the night on and off at various hours, when I first heard it I thought it might have been a rodent until my husband convinced me otherwise. Then, I heard a somewhat large dripping sound coming from under the sink, where there had been a rather large spot of water coming from the pipes visible under the sink, that looked poorly wrapped with something that resembled styrafoam. However, all these things I have listed may not be pleasant at all, I did appreciate the quality of staff and their service. Everyone had very big welcoming smiles and attitudes, and was always happy to help you with anything you needed no matter the time of day. I would also like to commend Hawthorn Suits on the comfort ability of their beds. It was beyond wonderful to gain a good nights sleep in between traveling. Very close to downtown Sacramento with easy access to freeways as well. Room was clean and to be expected for a two to three star hotel. Free buffet breakfast was good as well. Overall, good value for your money. I would stay there again!

I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SIZE OF THE BED. WE WERE TOLD IT WAS A QUEEN BED..BUT THERE IS NO WAY IT WAS A QUEEN. MORE LIKE A DOUBLE. ALSO THERE WAS ALOT A NOISE FROM OUTSIDE- PEOPLE JUST HANGING OUT UNTIL 2-3 AM IN THE PARKING LOT.

Room was nice and large for my 4 night stay. Bed was compfy. Very quiet till the last night and some inconsiderate nieghbors and door slaming. Freeway close and many restaurants walking distance. Was sad housekeeping did not refill in room coffee. But breakfest in lobby was good.

The only glitch we experienced was a leaking lavatory faucet and parking was a challenge. They were great other than those two items. reception at 5pm with free snacks, beer and wine. Decent breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits, gravy, waffles, etc No complaints.

Very nice hotel. The room was clean and nice. The complimentary breakfast was awesome with a huge variety. The airport shuttle was prompt with a very friendly driver. I would stay here again!

There was no luggage cart, I ask for one waited 15 min, then packed it in myself. Staff did not seem concerned. Went and did my buss. When I returned at 1:30 room was not cleaned yet. The cleaning lady was leaving the floor, so I stopped her and ask. She informed me it was not on her list , gave me an odd look and left. Went to front desk and got help. […] Bad. It was noise because of construction. Must be why we got a deal. It was not in the best neighbor hood. Lesa meira

Several aspects of the room were problematic - the room door didn't close all the way without forcing it shut. They were unable to get the in-room phone working, despite sending someone up to fix it. One of the lights in the bathroom wasn't working and the fan was relatively loud. Finally, the "kitchen area" was nothing more than a microwave, small […] fridge and counter space (no utensils, etc.) - they had to be requested from the front desk. Overall, it was an inexpensive room that was kept clean, but the issues listed caused us to wish we had stayed elsewhere. It would be a decent place if all you needed was a place to sleep with none of the other elements typically found in a "suite". Lesa meira

Arrived at Airport near midnight and this hotel was only one reasonably priced with 24/7 pick-up. Didn't do park & Fly because that was $30 more but instead had daughter drop car at hotel in afternoon. Hotel pick-up was fine and was helped to room with bags. Room kinda stuffy but turned on A/C while showering and was fine. Bed was great as were black-out […] curtains. They have a great buffet breakfast included that included a real variety; easily worth +$10-15 separately. Easy check-out after moving car closer to room to load baggage. Will repeat again on late arrivals to avoid 1+ hour drive home. Lesa meira

The absolute WORST hotel I have ever stayed in. The people in the next unit had their TV on full volume day and night. The walls were so thin I couldn't get a break other than to blast my TV full volume. That and get ear plugs. PLUS the cards to get in and out of your unit didn't work - twice I had to go get replacement cards. NOT fun when it's cold […] and dark and you just want to crash in bed. I should have gone to the Governor's Inn across the street. It was close to the wedding I had to attend and I didn't want to pay the high hotel cost of the Citizen but I should have read more reviews before settling on this place. Lesa meira
