This hotel is fantastic! Loved it! The problem with this hotel is that you have to pay about 5 pounds to get to and from the city. Thought it was a fantastic retreat, beautiful exterior and interior, it just ended up to not be as centrally located as I would have hoped. If I did it again, I would have stayed right downtown. More accessible to everything. There is no free internet and the food is quite expensive. I got a sandwich and we ate breakfast one morning there (my wife and I) and paid around 78 bucks for all of it. Good food, but not that good! The swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam/sauna rooms were great, but ultimately I was there to sight see...

I am my wife are experienced and quite discerning travelers. We found the Bath Spa one of the best hotels we have stayed at in the recent years. It still has a flair of the mid-fifties, extremely comfortable, excellent restaurant, gorgeous front gardens, large inside swimming pool, several types of sauna. The personnel was very corteous. The price was also a good surprise (booked through Hotels.com it was far less than the list price shown on the reception). We were given a room with a living room, a spacious bathroom, a king size bedroom, very soft linen. Two small negative notes: 1) there should be a covered path to the Imperial Suites, it is uncomfortable to cross in the open air when it's cold and rainy; 2) there was a charge for internet connection in the room, this is petty and unfriendly to customers since the cost for the hotel is minimal and should not be charged to guests, as many hotels now do. Anyway, we will not hesitate to go back to the Bath Spa when returning to Bath (which we intend to).

This Macdonald hotel is as consistant and the other Macdonald hotels. A great hotel. The only fault is their extremely limited Beer selections. When I travel I like to relax in my room with a nice cool German or English beer. At the hotel, You have 4 brands to choose from and none were quality beers except Budwiser. Unfortunately, I don't drink Bub.

Big rooms, clean, great location, friendly staff, spa facilities were excellent. Deserves all its stars Can't ask more for the price we paid.

Hotel is long in the tooth, not a five star, kind of shabby, we asked for a queen bed and got two twins, would not stay here again.

The hotel was lovely inside and out. The food was fantastic in the hotel. Would definately go back. The hotel was very near to Bath centre. The shoppping there is great!

Beautiful hotel, good location (good 15 min walk to centre). Spa faciltiies nice but often busy. Food in restaurant excellent. All a bit let down by service. Staff very pleasant but not particularly attentive. Stood for a while waiting for restaurant, no-one took active role in seeing if we needed help. Had to find concierge to retrieve car keys. Room took until after 4 pm to be serviced on Day1. Good bargain if you get an offer or seems cheaper on weekdays.

I decided to book this hotel as it was my partners birthday and fancied a little bit of luxury. The reception area is lovely and grand.......Our room was excellent only fault was that the bed was a little too soft for our liking. Clean towels x2 daily and sheets turned down ready for bed. We ate in the hotels restaurant the food was out of this world but you will be looking at a three figure bill. But you cant put a price on quality. Pools, sauna & steam room excellent for after a hard day walking around the sites of bath. All staff were friendly and very helpful. will definately return.

The hotel is lovely and the leisure facilities are superb - indoor and outdoor (hot) pools. The room was beautiful and the bathromm the best I've been in. Only problem was the drinks were an absolute fortune - as were the dinner prices. It is a walk into Bath and therefore we witnessed (and were part of) a constant stream of taxis into Bath for meals and drinks. If only they lowered their prices,people would eat and drink in the hotel. I would go back though but would still not eat or drink in the hotel.

We had stayed at the bath Spa several years ago in one of the hotel's feature four-poster rooms which had benefited from a recent tasteful refurbishment. This time we were upgraded to a comfortable executive room overlooking the gardens. Food & drink is high on our list of priorities and we took lunch at the Al-Fresco restaurant. The food and wine were of the high quality we had come to expect from Al-Fresco. We had hoped to take a pre-lunch aperitif at the bar but were disappointed to find it closed. It had always been open on previous visits. We decided to order room service at about 5pm and this is where we encountered a failing. The call to room service appeared to be forwarded and the line went dead. After trying again we waited for our order. The order was simple and after 40 mins waiting I chased the order only to be told the delay was because they did not know my room number! After a further 20 mins the order arrived. This appeared to be an unfortunate blip as our order for room service breakfast the following morning was delivered on time by two smart young men. The Bath Spa experience is one of service highs and lows and it would be better if there was a consistent level of service. We would certainly return to the Bath Spa as it has much to offer and the dining experience is always memorable.

Check-in was very slow as there were not enough attendants at the check-in desk. Other than than that, we were impressed with the comfort and customer service. Location is central and within walking distance to the city attractions. Would stay there again.

Booked this as a last minute getaway. Whilst the hotel is lovely, its attention to detail let it down. It took 30 minutes to get checked in, the mini-bar in the room was empty with a 'package buy system' which was ridiculously irrelevant, took another 30 minutes to get through to room service which then arrived without cutlery! Maybe we were just unlucky, because the hotel itself is splendid. Not terribly good value though.

Although our stay was short we fully enjoyed it and wished we could have been there longer. Excellent in every way. Friendly, approachable staff,eager to help in any way possible.

The hotel staff was snooty and arrogant

I treated my son for his 30th birthday. He went with his girlfriend and absolutely loved it. I have been there before so I knew he would think it was great.

Good character The only concern is its location. Need to walk ard 20 to 30 mins from the train station if u got luggages with you

Location is great for going downtown

This is an attractive, clean hotel with all the amenities. The only reason it is receiving 4 instead of 5 stars from me is the location. It's an easy 20 minute walk into the heart of things, but, after a day of sightseeing, I wished it was a little more convenient. Still, with that warning, I would definitely recommend this hotel to a friend.

If you want a first-class, luxurious break away from it all, then this is the hotel for you. Staff are courteous, spa is a treat. Lovely ambience and super-friendly staff. My room was ready at 7.20 am. Can't wait to go back.

A very nice and confortable hotel which is just a short walk into the centre of Bath. Staff were very helpful and polite. Was put off eating at the hotel when told the price of the english breakfast. Room was cleaned each day to a high standard. The spa facilities were also excellent.

This is definately a 5 star hotel, which amazed me considering the price we paid through hotels.com. The room was very roomy, especially for Europe, very clean, and very sophisticated. They have a whole range of spa services, a very chic restaurant menu, and beautiful landscaping. It is a ten minute walk into bath to the Roman Baths and Bath Abbey, but you are walking through a very safe residential area (women were walking by themselves at night). It is quiet there, which is great after a very long day of sight seeing. I would absolutely stay at this hotel again.

Booked a last minute 3 night stay with my husband and 16 year old daughter. Very good choice as hotel has quiet country hotel feel with gardens and plenty of parking, but is within pleasant 10/15 minute walk into the centre of Bath. Charming hotel with atmosphere of luxury and comfort but not pretentious. Staff welcoming, attentive and helpful. We made good use of the Spa facilities, robes and slippers which were all included. Would definitely visit again.

We went primarily for the spa facilities and i have to say i was more than impressed! the pool was on the small side but the outdoor pool, jacuzzi, 4 steam rooms and treatments available more than made up for it. Dinner in the alfresco restaurant was great and as we only eat vegetarian or fish, the selection was more than ample. I still find it hard to believe that such a large space covered by the hotel is only a 5 minute walk to the city centre! Fab!

it was one of the best hotels

Bath Spa is a fine hotel. The pool and leisure complex are excellent. It is very decadent to sit outside in December in a super heated pool - and if you park the carbon footprint concerns - a wonderful end to the day. The rooms and bathroom were clean, modern and well appointed. The receptionist and doormen were all very helpful. The best thing about the hotel is its location - a 10 minute walk from the centre of Bath - but set in attractive grounds. The walk to Bath takes you through parks and wonderful Georgian streets. After walking home from dinner in Bath we even crossed paths with a Badger wandering through the hotel grounds, which was rare treat which left a lovely memory from a quick weekend beak.

On first entering the hotel, I immediately started to regret the fact that we were not staying longer than the one night we had booked. Contrary to other reviews I have read for the MacDonald Hotel Bath Spa, the service was friendly and prompt. Staff was very, very helpful, chatty and warm. The grounds were beautiful and I would rate the service and this hotel as 4+ stars for sure. The room quality and the overall ambiance of the hotel was classy and tasteful. We did not encounter a single non-native English speaker among the staff.

Meget fin modtagelse på hotellet som hele vejen igennem vores ophold var meget hjælpsomme. Værelset var pænt stort og meget rent med kaffe, te, vand og kiks til rådighed hver dag. Ydermere badekåbe og tøfler til brug for besøg i spa'en som var meget flot med mange forskellige tilbud. Eneste minus er, at hotellet ligger lidt i udkanten af byen på en bakketop, så turen hjem fra Bath på gåben er meget op ad bakke, men er det OK er det et super valg.

Wir hatten für zwei Nächte eine Imperial Suite gebucht, was sehr teuer war. Diese Suites sind allerdings in einem Nebengebäude untergebracht und man muss sprichwörtlich durch die Hintertür aus dem Haupthaus um dort hin zu gelangen und hat keinen schönen Ausblick auf den Park vor dem Haupthaus. Swimmingpool war angehm, wurde kontrolliert, der Service allgemein sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Das recht hochpreisige Restaurant hat Stühle mit teilweise total verfleckter Sitzfläche, was nicht zum intendierten Ambiente passt.

Macdonald Bath Spa is a very nice hotel with a great location. It takes 10 minutes to walk (through a romantic park) down to the town centre of Bath. The rooms are elegant and comfortable and the staff is friendly and professional. The spafacilities are also great and very relaxing after a day of sightseeing. And least, but not last; the food is also very good! We would highly recomend this hotel!
