We were met in the hotel lobby with a plate of fresh cookies and a very nice desk agent. Our room was fine - not posh, but clean and comfortable, more than adequate for a short overnight stay. Some of the features were not usually found in a hotel of this price range, such as a hair-dryer, iron, deluxe shower-head with multiple settings. We selected […] this place based on its proximity to the memorial service we were attending in Newport News and it worked well for us. The breakfast buffet featured several hot items, such as scrambled eggs, sausages, homemade biscuits and gravy, and make-your-own Belgium waffles, in addition to more standard fare. I came to the area with my daughter's basketball team and was pleasantly surprised by the comfort, amenities, service and condition of the hotel.. "Quaint and comfortable."
Extremely nice and courteous staff. Rooms we're clean and cozy and the breakfast in the morning was highly above average. Overall a great atmosphere in a questionable neighborhood. "Stay Next Door at the Holiday Inn"
From the moment we set foot on the premises it was horrible. The staff was extremely rude- to the point we had no idea where our room was and they were not willing to point the way. We arrived late and left early but found this to be the perfect place for a short stay. Hotel is slightly worn but clean. Staff was extremely nice and accomodating. There really are no restaurants near by but staff was able to easily direct us to an area about 10 minutes away where we had choices of many places to eat. The desk clerks were very friendly and willing to give us extra towels when needed. The breakfast was very good and at convenient hours. The air conditioning in the room was super cold even though it was 110 degrees outside! The room was extremely clean and looked like it had been recently updated. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was filling. Everthing about this room was OLD. The furniture, the bedding, the TV was a Zenith (like the ones you find in the thrift store for $25.00. Terrible. The room was dark and dingy. "conveniently located"
we found the hotel staff to be super friendly and courteous the best we have ever experienced with hotels.com they were warm and friendly even late at night, also very eager to help with pointing out the amenities and nearby locations. we stayed only one night but found the rooms to be larger than expected. Everything was clean and tidy. The only change […] would have been more towels in the room there were only 3 sets for the four of us but we had packed our own beach towels. "Barely Worth the Money"
Only 3 pillows on a king size bed, shower knobs looked awful although they did work, musty smell to room. Everything was functional but construction/decor left much to be desired. Last weekend I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express across the parking lot, which is owned by the same company. It was much nicer, had the same advertised room rates but unfortunately […] it was at capacity this trip. This is a low end price range hotel and I barely got what I paid for.
