The Safety Harbor Resort & Spa in Fla., is a therapeutic retreat on 22 acres of waterfront land. Overlooking Tampa Bay, the resort is Florida's only spa built over natural mineral springs. Adjacent to the city's marina, the Safety Harbor Resort & Spa is within 10 miles of area attractions including Philippe Park and the Chi Chi Rodriguez Golf Club.

Dining options include Fountain Grille Restaurant, which serves Mediterranean-style cuisine with a Caribbean influence for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the seasonal poolside Tiki Bar. Complimentary Internet access along with meeting and banquet space is offered. Over 70 different wet and dry skin treatments such as facials, Swedish massage and reflexology are offered for guests 18 and older in the 50,000 square foot spa. An advanced fitness center is equipped with personal trainers, machines and classes. The Safety Harbor Resort and Spa is located on the tranquil shores of Tampa Bay. The waterfront resort was built in 1945 on natural mineral springs, and discovered by Spanish explorers searching for the fountain of youth. Designated a Florida Heritage Landmark, this secluded property has been known to business and leisure travelers as a place “where healing waters flow” for the therapeutic value of its waters.
Treatments at the 50,000 square foot spa and fitness center, available only to guests ages 18 and older, include Swedish, reflexology, hot rock, and couples massage, as well as body wraps, hydrotherapy and a selection of facial spa treatments. The fitness and wellness department offers consultations and programs on health, nutrition, and wellness for guests ages 16 years and older.
The Safety Harbor Resort's three pools—indoor and outdoor lap pools, and a leisure pool—contain purified mineral springs water. Spa tubs, saunas, personal hydrotherapy, and steam rooms are also on site.
Fountain Grille - Casual restaurant featuring Mediterranean-style cuisine with a Caribbean influence in many of the specialties dishes. Alfresco dining is available overlooking a spring-fed fountain. Seasonal entertainment on weekends. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Tiki Bar - Seasonal poolside bar serving specialty drinks, burgers, sandwiches, and salads. Open late-morning until dusk.
La Sardine lobby lounge - serving "Champagne Brunch" each Sunday from 11 AM - 2:30 PM.
Tampa Bay Lounge - The lounge features 5 large-screen HDTVs, a pool table, darts, jukebox and video games. The lounge opens at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and opens at noon on Sunday.

Clearwater is the worldwide headquarters for the Church of Scientology, which is credited for revitalizing downtown. The church is based in the Fort Harrison Hotel, a 1920s skyscraper that was once the grande dame of Clearwater lodging. Across the street, Scientology’s imposing Flag Building takes up one square block. The St. Petersburg/Clearwater International Airport lies southeast of downtown.

"This hotel is OLD and in need of facelift"
This old hotel needsa a facelift. THe ice machine is ONE for about 120 rooms and located on ground floor with elevators out of service. Hallways are dirty and carpet is in poor condition. The front desk personnel is very inexperienced and lacks customer service skills. Hidden fees becareful as they won't tell you about it until you check out. And if […] you check out without stopping by, BAZINGA on your bill. Restaurant is overpriced for the food. Lack of variety and served cold. Room service was 2.5 hours and three phone calls to an overcharge on the bill. THeir response was, well y ou ate the food didn't you?? NOt good seek elswhere until they change! My suggestion! Convenient to St Petersburg/Clearwater International Airport and a high-step above the rest of the near airport alternatives. Staff service and restaurant offerings were terrific. "Historic area"
This hotel is very nice and peaceful. Our room was very spacious with a nice balcony. Our children are toddlers and enjoyed their stay. We will be back to Safety Harbor!

There have been some nice updates to the Resort and Spa with the new owners. It had been over 10 years since my last visit and good to know that the spa treatments are still of great caliber. its a great place,the steamroom,hottub were all great,the pool was great,didn't have the chlorine smell like some public pools.The staff was very helpfull and nice.We had a poolside room,which i wouldn't do again because of kids but it was still nice,the room was very nice.

this hotel and spa is a real hidden gem. the rooms are excellent and the pool area is very relaxing. the tiki bar at the pool with steve the bartender was plenty fo fun.... this was a nice place to stay away from the very busy clearwater area...

"Very nice surprise"
The location was great for us because we wanted relaxing yet an easy drive to Busch Gardens, Clearwater and Tampa's restaurant scene. The hotel staff, front desk especially, was outstanding. Great vacation all-around.
"Spring Break"
The only downside to this hotel is it shows it's age and the floors/carpets are not kept vacumed or clean - in some places. For the price it's a great stay.

When we arrived we were told there will be a $16 dollar a day fee. I was told this was for the use of the pool, spa and so forth. After paying lot of money less 10% discount I did not expect this. Food prices were not to bad. The employees were real nice.

"wonderful getaway"
We had a fabulous time! thoroughly enjoyed the main pool/tiki bar plus the spring fed lap pool and Jacuzzi. Rooms had a spectacular view. Rented kayaks and paddle boards! Were visited by manatee's! Could not have been better!

Got deluxe jr. suite room, it was clean and fresh. Got good sleep. Sandwich shop is across the street, but they closed at 9pm, too early for me. Parking lot is not paved, a bit of a hassle for me with cart full of heavy equipment, but I should have unloaded at the front entrance before parking. Area around seemed kinda dead after 9pm. My husband first found Safety Harbor Resort and Spa several years ago when he was looking for a new place to visit for one of our wedding anniversaries. Location was very good - town is nice. Room had relatively new furnishings and carpet. The hallways definitely need need carpet and paint. Their current condition makes the hotel unattractive. Also, an additional charge of $17.00 was added to our bill daily for spa services and other services that we did not use. We could not decline the services.
"Failed Our Expectations!!!!!"
This hotel only cares about bringing people in for your money at the spa or their convention or luncheons they have every day. Paying guests for overnight accommodations are an afterthought. You pay $16 extra for amenities that should be included in the price you pay for your room. I understand that the hotel is old but it's grungy on top of being dated. […] Everything is inconvenient. To get your robe that you pay extra for you have to go to the spa to get it which was 3 floors down. To get water, its on one floor in one wing, and the ice is on another floor in another wing. Parking was a block away across the street in a dirt parking lot. With all there luncheons and people coming for meetings, it was hard to find a spot at times. We had a big window in our room and when we tried to close the curtains, they didn't fit the window-it was short at least 2 feet!! Light fixtures in the room didn't work. The cleaning closet was outside our room and at 8:00 am you could hear them in and out of that closet talking in the hall right outside our room. This was one of several hotels we stayed at on our 2 week vacation and by far the worst. The only thing good about this hotel was that the bed was comfortable and the room was pretty clean. The Hotel location is great but the hotel was not clean in alot of areas.The elevators and stairs were very dirty and needed updating. Our room was between the stairs and elevator which made it noisy.There was no seating area in our room which was weird. The staff was most courteous and the spa was great.The town of Safety Harbor is charming.

The Spa was very nice, but the front desk was frighteningly inefficient! Guests were waiting in line to check in while the front desk staff was fielding calls for requests such as a room that needed a box of kleenex. Also, make sure that your discounts are spelled out in detail. For instance, if you are a guest with a wedding party and they don't make […] the connection at booking, they will refuse any discounts that might be associated with the group. The hotel interior is a little dated and worn but the rooms was really nice, very comfortable and the bed was great! Surrounding area is great for coffee and dining. Stayed here for business and it wasn't optimal due to location but would come back again for a romantic/relaxing weekend in a heartbeat.

I've stayed at Safety Harbor Spa many times over the years and have seen the hotel greatly imporve. The renovations have given this older hotel new life and it looks fresh and inviting. This hotel/spa has definitely seen better days. The service was friendly but not super efficient. The layout of the hotel was like a labyrinth. We had to walk forever to get from the lobby to our room and the entire hotel is laid out like this. The indoor pool and jacuzzi area was VERY run down and dirty. Not welcoming at all. The room was spacious […] but the furniture, shower and TV were old and run down. The furniture was ready for the dumpster and the shower was full of mold! The Sunday brunch was very good though. From the pictures I expected quite a quite a hotel. But, the hotel is very old and in dire need of maintainence (the hallway carpet is nasty, the elevator sounds like it's not going to make it, and the interior needs painting. "Safety Harbor Resort and Spa -- lovely location"
I've stayed at Safety Harbor for years and have noted the many upgrades they've installed the past few years. The town of Safety Harbor is so "old Florida," that one almost forgets the strip malls just a few miles away on I-19. The resort offers very good fitness classes (which I take advantage of) and lots of spa amentities (which I generally don't […] use because I'm there to see grandchildren). The pool area with its bar and grill are great places to hang out with the granddaughters. At check in, hotel advised we had to pay a $16.00 resort fee that was NOT listed in hotel.com which was an unwelcome surprise. They had some paperwork about it. The more direct honest approach would be to advise Hotel.com of the real cost including the $16,00 per day extra fee.

What a great find! Loved the spa facilities. Great walking location with wonderful shops & restuarants but would be perfectly content not leaving the grounds of the Resort. Can't wait to go back again. The facial was amazing. Spa staff very attentive and helpful. Located on Tampa Bay with a nearby marina. Wonderful vistas!

Our room was small but very clean, but we were so pleased with the spa. I actually felt like I got my money's worth for the resort fee. Took advantage of the waiting rooms and hot tub. "Great Place Just to Relax!"
Had a great time with my girlfriend, we usually like to party all night and drink but on this vacation we just wanted to kick back and relax, this place was perfect for that, enjoyed the spa and heated pools, the hotel is older as the small town but everything is extremely clean plus looks like most of the hotel has been renovated. We stayed at this resort over New Years. Such a nice change from your standard hotel. It is a beautiful, almost retro place and setting, reminiscent of the grand hotels of the past.
