Ég og konan erum hlauparar og ferðumst varla án þess að hlaup komi þar við sögu. Nú var komið að því að hlaupa í Bristol, en hvernig átti að komast þangað og hvar átti að búa. Við vorum svo heppin að uppgötva vefsíðuna Hotels.com og þar fundum við hótel nálæt þeim stað sem upphaf og endir hlaupsins virtist vera og á verðlagi sem okkur fannst eðlilegt. Við pöntuðum síðan hótelið í gegnum Hotels.com og stóðst allt í sambandi við það, í raun þekkum við ekki til Hotels.com en spurðumst lítillega fyrir um það hjá hótelum hérna heima og virtust þeir ekki þekkja það nema af góðu. Við flugum til Heathrow, tókum lest frá Heathrow til Paddington stöðvarinnar í London, og þaðan tókum við lest til Bristol. Ferðin frá flugvellinum til Bristols tók um fjórar klukkustundir, en meðan við vorum í Bristol uppgötvuðum við að það er bæði fljótara, þægilegra og ódýrara að taka rútubíl (bus) beint á milli Bristol og Heathrow flugvallarins. En nú vorum við komin til járnbrautarstöðvarinnar í Bristol, þaðan var um 15 mínútna gangur á hótelið. Hótelið kom okkur skemmtilega á óvart, stafsfólkið þægilegt, og staðsetningin svo að segja fullkomin hvað okkur hlauparana varðaði því startið í hlaupinu og endamarkið voru svo að segja umhverfis hótelið í 100 metra fjarlægð. Hlaupara leggja mikið uppúr staðsetningu frá starti og endamarki svo það gat ekki verið betra. Hlauparar leggja líka mikið uppúr að sturtuaðstaða sé góð á herbergjunum, en það var mjög góð sturtuaðstaða á Ibis Bristol Centre. Morgunmatur var ekki innifalin, þótti okkur það kostur, en það var hægt að fá góðan morgunmat á hótelinu ef maður vildi á sanngjörnu verði að því okkur fannst, líka var hægt að fá hádegis og kvöldmat þarna, svo var líka hægt að sitja þarna niðri á kvöldin með bjór eða kaffi ef maður vildi. Í nágreninu og miðbænum sem er í um 10 til 30 mínútna göngufjarlægð er líka mikið úrval af kaffistöðum og veitingastöðum. Á herberginu var aðstaða til að hita sér vatn og fá sér té eða kaffi og líkaði okkur það. Það má því

"Good hotel, parking not free"
Hotel is very good. Staff very friendly. Parking an issue as we had to use the pay and display across from the hotel. Full day parking £12.50. Parking info from hotels did not indicate this. "Location and service"
Hotel was being renovated during my stay and will probably be more expensive after completion. Bathroom was already upgraded but still only average. That said, the rooms (mine was the cheapest single) do have everything: bath, shower, soaps and creams, hair dryer and plenty of towels, decent linen, duvet, TV, coffee, tea and kettle etc. Everything a […] bit squeezed in and a tight fit, but clean, comfortable and good central heating. Location is perfect for seeing Bath, right in the centre with parking facilities (public paid parking) opposite. Above average service: staff were friendly, polite and all made a genuine effort to respond to guests promptly and properly. "Great location"
This was our 4th stay at this hotel because we love it despite it being rather tired. We have had some problems e.g. no heating, too much heating and a leaky ceiling BUT the hotel is being refurbished and the staff have always been helpful. We get off the train short walk to hotel and then we hit the shops which are very close.

"Great location but..."
Good points : very well located and staff really welcoming and helpful. Charming hotel Bad points : paperwalls and carpets need to be changed (some coffe odours were remaining in my room). Rooms poorly soundproofed as we can hear what's happening oustide the hotel at 2:00 am. The rates are a little bit expensive considering those points.

"Needs a refurb"
Pratt's hotel is in a good location and the staff seemed nice enough but the positives end there. The room was very small and dark, was too hot, the bed too small and the shower didn't work so we had to take baths. It just needs a total facelift and I wish I'd paid a little more for a better hotel in Bath.

This is a very old hotel and it shows. Floors squeek, hallways are narrow and amenities in the rooms are few. Wood on window sills was rotten and musty odors abound. "Great location - not great hotel"
The location was fantastic - but the room was not what we expected for the price...even for England. We checked in late and got the room on the attic level - small and worn looking. Hotel is pretty worn out looking in general...squeaky floors, worn carpets, loose door hinges, etc.

It's an easy walk pretty much anywhere from the hotel. The room was a decent enough size, but my carpet was absolutely disgusting, covered in big brown stains. Had a kettle with coffee/tea fixings,and there is a grocery store a few min away which was pretty handy. Wifi was overpriced at £10 for 24 hours, if hostels can afford to give you free wifi why […] can't hotels do the same? Staff was nice, when there was a problem with someone blowing a fuse and the electricity went out they had it fixed straight away. Lesa meira

Pratts Hotel is very convenient to the train, and within easy walking distance of the attractions of Bath. However, one small detail was enough to convince me never to return.The bathroom light was turned on by a cord...a cord that was grimy and clammy to the touch. "A blend of arrogance and incompetence"
I booked two single rooms for my mother and brother. I received written confirmation that the latter would be a smoking room - that's the main reason why I chose the hotel. During his stay my brother received a letter from the management to say he would be fined £100 for smoking in the room. I challenged the receptionist, who said all the rooms were […] no-smoking, and blamed Hotels.com for not advising the hotel of my request. She flourished the confirmation of booking sent by Hotels.com in front of me as proof. There, in black and white, was the confirmation of one smoking room. Her response? "Oh, we never bother to check that. This happens all the time." She promised only £50 would be deducted (as if this made it OK), and that the manager would phone me later. I received no call. £50 was deducted from my credit card account. On top of this, the beds were uincomfortable, the rooms poorly furnished, and the hotel in general needs an overhaul - but not as much as the management! Lesa meira

Hotel was very close to train station and city center, much closer than I thought it would be and that was a wonderful surprise. The room was comfortable and we enjoyed our stay
The stay was spoiled by having to pay £40 to park the car, I would next time look for a hotel with a car park.

"Great location and price for visiting Bath"
The hotel is in an excellent location - just a few minutes from the station and city centre. However this also means that some night time noise can be heard from the local streets (I was in a room at the front of the hotel and this was a problem for me). The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room, although slightly worn/tatty, was immaculately […] clean. I had a single room, but it was a very good size. The shower was rather erratic in temperature - either very hot or cold, which was rather frustrating, however apart from that there were no real problems. Breakfast was a nice choice of cereals, toast, tea, coffee, and hot food. Would stay here again, but might ask for a room not facing the main streets, in case it is quieter. Lesa meira
"Pratts Hotel - you get what you pay for"
The Pratts Hotel is in a good location, only 5 minutes walk from the shops, abbey and roman baths in the city centre and probably 15 minutes walk from the crescent. You get what you pay for with the rooms being small and old fashioned but it was in a convenient location 5 mins walk from the train station. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. […] The room was small and had no main light, so it was lit by 3 lamps which weren't adequate enough to light the room properly. The bathroom was small and could have done with a refurbish but everything worked ok. All in all for the money we paid we were happy with the room and the hotels location. Yes, a little shabby-chic around the edges, but a lovely comfy family feel, even though it is quite a large hotel. Comfortable lounges with open fire, amazing breakfast, room clean comfortable and with spotless en-suite. Very friendly and professional staff, and a brilliant location close to sights, shopping, rail and bus stations. "Pratt's Hotel, Bath"
This is a wonderfully located hotel in the centre of England's most beautiful city. Unfortunately, it is a property in dire need of a shake up. Staff training and overall customer service was poor. It is a hotel that is well past it's due date for a refit. Shame really, it could be a gold mine..
"The Hotel Pratts in Bath -very convenient location"
Just a few minutes walk to the main turist attractions in Bath. It doesn't have a car park but right in front there is a public car park. Great customer service and lovely included breakfast!

Quite happy with our stay, on our first visit to the island, in what seemed to us the quintessential English hotel. Older but comfortable rooms. Breakfast buffet was wonderful! Easy walking distance to all points of interest.
"Traditional"
This is an old hotel with narrow corridors and creaky floors, and the room I had was small. But that is the charm of an old hotel. The location was great to walk around Bath, the included breakfast was very good, and the staff was friendly. Just what I expected, and I would stay there again and recommend it as a very good value.

The hotel is very close to the train station. I'm glad I wasn't driving a car- the hotel parking lot was closed and parking was 12 pounds/day. Very close to the Roman Baths, but also close to some bars which were loud on a Saturday night. In farily good coniditon, and they had a nice breakfast buffet. I would stay here again.

"cute little place"
I like this small little hotel, in a historic parade, it is near the train station and walking distance to all major signs, the city itself isn't that big, you can walk everything from the hotel.My single room is quiet big compares to most of them in Europe, the staffs are very nice and kind, breakfast is good and hearty, great value!

Was worried by some of the negative reviews, but this is just our kind of hotel. No pretensions, but perfectly located, friendly staff, decent, clean rooms. Breakfast was good, too. No AC, but it got cool enough at night that it was not a problem. Mostly you're right in the heart of Bath, a block or two from all the major sites - abbey, spa, river, […] shopping. I loved this hotel. Great location. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. There were a few cleanliness issues. Fingerprints on the glasses in the bathroom. I would not recommend the hotel restaurant unless you love Swanson TV dinners. They did have a deep fried Brie that was amazing but what deep fried dish isn't.

If you read all of the other reviews you'll find that they're spot on. The hotel is a grand old dame in dreadful need of a facelift. My room and shower were clean although the room was terribly hot - even with the windows open! The breakfast was good. The staff were friendly. The location is EXCELLENT. Would stay again :-)

DIRTY CARPETS, SMELL OF BACON PERMEATING THE HOTEL AND THE WORST INGREDIENTS FOR THE BREAKFAST. OTHERWISE THE ROOM WAS FAIRLY COMFORTABLE (OTHER THAN A NOISY BANGING DOOR RIGHT OUTSIDE THE ROOM) AND THE STAFF POLITE BUT OBVIOUSLY NOT VERY INTERESTED. The hotel is very interesting. Turn of the century. Service was very nice. Inexpensive. Well situated. Bed was.... horrible. The worst bed I have ever slept in. Like a rock with metal shards in it. I would recommend this hotel, if you didn't want to sleep in it.

Stayed here on Business for one night as usual hotel was full. Paid more for this place and was very disappointed. Rooms very small and noisy, bathroom desperately in need of a proper clean, reception staff very surly and (would you believe it!) even the toiletries had been watered down to save them money! Pratts hotel is in a good location 5 minutes walk to the centre of town unfortunately the hotel is next to a police station and staying here at weekends is not recomended as police sirens sound all night if you are a light sleeper you won't get any sleep.We ordered room service for breakfast as we were leaving early to go on a day tour it never arrived.The […] beds in our room were lumpy and the shower was terrible one minute hot then cold. "Great location"
We were a little concerned when we saw the outside but our room was the largest in all of Europe. Bath was larger with both a tub and inclosed shower. Breakfast was wonderful with service on a par with the Queen Mary. The location was 300 yards from train station and another 300 to town center. "A gem at a fair price."
This was my first time staying in Bath and so I was not sure what to expect for accommodations. This hotel is part of the Forestdale chain of hotels and was a great find. It had great Georgian ambiance at a fair price. The lobby was spacious and comfortable to just sit and lounge. There was a restaurant on the premises with a great menu and wonderful […] décor. There was a separate breakfast room for the included full English breakfast, which had a variety of hot and cold offerings. There was even an additional sitting room and tables and chairs in front if you wanted to sit outside and have a cup of tea. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and parking was close by with a maximum £12 charge for 24 hours. My only complaint was that Wi-Fi internet access was at an extra cost, otherwise this would make a perfect stay for a “working vacation”. The room was very comfortable and modernized, with flat screen television, radio, direct dial telephone, a hairdryer, and tea and coffee making facilities, including cookies. The bathroom was extravagantly large, with both a shower and soaking tub. The location is ideally located in the historic center of Bath and is walking distance to the Roman Baths, the Abbey, shopping, restaurants, pubs and entertainment, as well as the River Avon and the rugby and cricket grounds. This hotel is perfect for a romantic getaway or for a sightseeing vacation. The facilities would also be great for hosting a conference or for a wedding. Even dogs are welcome! Lesa meira
"Needs improvement"
The staff was beyond wonderful and I only wish the hotel had measured up to their kindess and warmth. The room was quite shabby and worn, although a reasonable size. The bathroom was tiny and in serious need of updating. The location was great.

Great location near the roman baths and historic town, parking in pay lot directly across the street was easy, great full breakfast each morning, staff was friendly, hotel a little worn but charming and felt overall was outstanding for the price paid.
