The avant-garde Art'otel Budapest is set in winding streets between the Danube and Castle Hill in central Budapest, Hungary. Overlooking the famous River Danube, the hotel is 500 metres from the Fisherman's Bastion and one kilometre from the Royal Palace, National Gallery and St Stephen's Basilica. Budapest Ferihegy Airport (BUD) is 23 kilometres away.
Hotel Features.
The riverside Art'otel Budapest displays American artist Donald Sultan's imaginative work. Set around an eight-foot-high water feature, the lobby combines a grey-slate floor with a domino-dotted carpet and pea-green velvet sofas.
Buffet breakfast is served beneath a low Gothic ceiling in the Drawing Room, which is decorated with wall-length black leather benches and photos of smoke rings. Chelsea restaurant has vaulted tunnels, colourful Sultan prints and a black-and-white chequered floor, leading to a glass-roofed courtyard. Asian, international and Hungarian specialities are available here. Russet leather armchairs and strategically placed flowers define the lobby's Domino Cafe, offering snacks, sandwiches and cocktails.
The business centre's services include complimentary high-speed Internet connections. The basement conference floor comprises seven Sultan-designed meeting rooms.
The fitness centre has cardio machines, steam room and saunas.
Guestrooms.
The Art'otel has 165 minimalist-style guestrooms designed by Donald Sultan. The contemporary rooms, in bold red and soft grey tones, have framed Sultan prints and light wood furnishings. All rooms offer air conditioning, complimentary wireless Internet access, cable television and minibars. Black marble bathrooms feature stainless steel sinks, flower sculptures and designer toiletries.

Hótelið er frábærlega staðsett í hjarta miðbæjarins og stendur við göngugötu þar sem mannlífið iðar, með verslunum og veitingastöðum. Þrátt fyrir það eru herbergin þannig staðsett að þegar inn á þau er komið heyrist lítill sem enginn hávaði frá götu. Herbergið var með skandinavísku yfirbragði, smekklegt, þægilegt og þrifalegt. Mikill kostur var að hafa kælingu í herberginu enda heitt í veðri (35-37°C). Þá var minibar á herberginu og ólíkt því sem maður á oft að venjast þá var verð á því sem þar var að finna mjög hófstillt. Þjónustan var mjög fín og starfsfólkið bæði hjálplegt og elskulegt. Aðstoðaði m.a. við að panta "Airport Shuttle Bus", benti á spennandi staði (og veitingastaði) og aðstoðaði við að finna þessa staði á korti. Það starfsfólk sem ég átti samskipti við talaði allt ágæta ensku, sem er ekki sjálfgefið í Búdapest (og enn síður þegar komið er út fyrir borgina). Get varla nefnt neitt neikvætt um þetta hótel en ef ég rembist við að reyna að tiltaka eitthvað þá hefði gjarnan mátt vera boðið upp á fleiri erlendar sjónvarpsstöðvar (var einungis BBC) ekki síst þar sem allt sjónvarpsefni í Ungverjalandi er talsett og því hefur maður ekki hugmynd um hvað verið er að tala um. Jafnframt hefði morgunmaturinn, sem var innifalinn, mátt vera meira spennandi. Brauð og þess háttar var frekar þurrt og eins og hálfstaðið en þessa reynslu hef ég reyndar frá mörgum öðrum hótelum í Evrópu og get því vart sagt að þetta sé stór mínus fyrir Promenade hótelið sérstaklega. Heilt yfir - mæli eindregið með hótelinu - frábærlega staðsett og "worth every penny". :-)

chelsea - Serving lunch and dinner from an international menu with Asian influences and Hungarian specialties, chelsea's walls are hung with bright prints of Sultan buttons. Guests sit in yellow and black or rust and black armchairs at tables laid with card-motif crockery. In the glass-roofed courtyard section, black wicker furniture sits on a black and white tiled floor.
drawing room - Breakfast buffet and functions are served in the drawing room, where wall-length black leather banquettes sit beneath photos of smoke rings. Under a low gothic ceiling, other guests sit in butter yellow leather armchairs.
domino cafe - Sandwiches, light snacks and a host of cocktails are served from the bar in this lobby café. Burnt orange leather armchairs and black leather banquettes sit at tables decorated with a single flower.

"Art O'tel Budapest - great views"
We spent the second half of our Budapest stay in the Art O'tel on the Buda side of the river. The views from the room were amazing as the hotel is directly over the road from the Danube and the Parliament buildings provide a great view. Most of the restaurants and action was just a short walk away across the Chain Bridge. The free internet access in […] the central area was very useful for online check in to our flights etc. The hotel itself met all our requirements. The water in the room was extremely expensive. We had breakfast in our room one morning when we needed to leave early and it was promptly delivered. Lesa meira
"art'otel - great riverside location"
Hadn't thought to book a non-smoking hotel but Budapest seems full of smokers so possibly difficult to enforce. A shame because the lobby area always smelt of smoke from the adjacent bar.
"Bad start, good ending."
First night when I checked in, they gave me a room that's a bit old and in far corner. The AC unit made noise all night, so I ask for something to be done. They did respond quickly and sent a repair man up to look at the problem. But the problem can't be fixed, so they moved me to another room. The new room is much better located (facing the water) […] and in much better condition. The staffs speak good English and are very professional. I will stay again. Lesa meira

Beautiful hotel and amazing views from the rooms and the cafe and the lobby. The staff is very kind and friendly. Get WIFi was very complicated and was slow. In the restaurant the food was good, but the beer was not cold. In general was a very pleasant experience .

This is a good spot if you want to stay on the Buda side of the city. Right by the river overlooking Parliament and the Castle, so wherever your room is in the hotel, it's sure to be a room with a view! Convenient near to Chaion Bridge so a good spot to see the sights.

We loved it. The location was perfect as it is right on the river and you see the majestic Parliament building every morning. It was a little walk to the center of town butt was never a problem and we crossed the chain bridge every day which was great. I would recommend staying there.

A great location with great views and easy access to public transportation (which, BTW, is first rate in Budapest), but what makes the stay memorable is the efficient, helpful and always curteous staff. This is why I keep coming back.

My room was very, very dirty. The carpet was VERY dirty and stained and the tables were dirty and sticky, also. The AC didn't work very well. Some of the staff were very nice and others were very unpleasant. The restaurant attached to the hotel was awful and over priced! I had the fish and it was visibly freezer burned and very overcooked (hard as a […] rock) and they still charged me for it even though I showed the waitress how hard the fish was. "Wonderful Hotel - Great Location"
This Hotel is a wonderful place to stay in Budapest. It is within walking distance (depending on your level of fitness, of course) of Parliament, the Castle District, Chain Bridge, all the Danube River Tours, and maybe a 5 minute walk to the Metro. There are numerous restaurants and little store where you can pick up snacks or personal items. ATM machines […] and super markets (food) are near the Metro. The Desk Staff are terrific – Ronald is the best!!! Tours can be arranged or just advice on what to see and where to go. Don’t forget to spend some time exploring the Hotel’s art collection. "A great venue on the bud a side"
We were amazed by the danube view from room 517...between the chain bridge and parliament on the opposite bank. Steps from st. Matthias and kasha, the restaurant famous for it's duck. Room was spacious and comfortable. Service was a bit perfunctory. All and all, though, highly recommended for the location.

The hotel is located at the bottom of the hill below the Fisherman's Bastion/Matthias Church. The neighborhood has several cafe's around - but also within a 5 minute walk of Batthyany Ter - where there are more restaurants & a metro stop that you can then travel to anywhere in the city. We arrived at 9.30am from our cruise and the reception staff immediately found us a room. We found the desk staff generous with their information on sights and facilities we required. Breakfast was a huge spread. Some of the hot food could have been warmer. This is a great hotel, close to all the Castle Area attractions. "Spacious with good views"
Location excellent: short stroll to Metro, longer stroll into central Pest, stimulating climb to castle. If you are strolling into town, though, beware cyclists who share the footpath. A very nice hotel. The staff are friendly and relaxed. Overall a pleasant place which is well maintained. A bit of a walk to most things but close to the river Danube. Better than some of the 5 star hotels in Budapest. Staff speak English, French, German, Russian and Hungarian.

All good except I did not like the smoking that is allowed in the lobby and bar. Not really their fault, it just the way things are in Budapest. We found a wonderful cafe just a half block away called the "Sophie". Great food, great music, reasonable prices.
"Excellant hotel w/ great view"
We couldn't have asked for a better hotel for our first nights stay in Budapest. There were many restaurants in walking distance and the views of the Chain Bridge and Parliament were everything we had hoped for. The staff was helpful and professional.

The hotel was beautiful & very clean. My only complaint is that there are a LOT of stairs going to the back rooms (the elevator bypassed 1 flight), and they did not offer assistance with our bags when we checked in. "The awesome window view makes it a dream"
the staff put me in a room with the most amazing view of the fisherman's bastion, and st. matteus church. This was a dream, first thing to see in the morning and last thing at night. carpet needs to be changed! Breakfast was expensive, but good with fantastic varieties of breads! very friendly staff, though not sure if their restaurant recommendations […] were not fueled by their own vested interests - still, we appreciated their help. they say they are redoing all the rooms. so you'll probably get a better carpet than ours. "Artotel Budapest"
Excellent hotel, the staff very very friendly and could not do enough for you. Location wise it is a great hotel opposite the parliament build and just below the castle. Breakfast was excellent and reasonable. All in all we were very satisfied with our stay.

Enjoyed the hotel - staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is nice with some nice views of city. But the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff is the best part of the hotel for me

The hotel is quite new, very clean and modern, with an excellent position right on the Danube with views of the Parliament Building at the front and the castle hill and Fisherman's Bastion at the rear. We stayed twice, once at the beginning of our holiday and again at the end. The first room was on an interior courtyard, the second at the front with […] a balcony, although this was noisier being on the roadside with trams passing at regular intervals. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. The breakfast was good value for hotel breakfasts, though we didn't use the restaurant for the evening meals. We thoroughly enjoyed both stays, and were almost sorry to leave. Transport was close by to all main sights. The Budapest Pass for travel was available at the hotel, although it had to be paid separately in cash. Lesa meira

"Great, chic, but reasonably priced hotel"
Starting with check-in, the staff were great. We arrived in the evening, tired from a long day's drive, and they even took care of getting the rental car agency to pick up the car. The rooms were chic and modern, nice toiletries and we had a fabulous view of the Danube and Parliament building. Would definitely stay here again.

Very nice place for a great price. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the room was very nice, and the bar/restaurant was great. My only significant complaint was that the toilet was not working properly. I would have also preferred more vegetarian options in the restaurant, but that seemed to be a general thing in Budapest. The […] location was a bit outside of the main tourist area (which was on the Pest side of the river), which was a good thing. It was still very close to all of the tourist destinations, but a bit further from the overpriced restaurants and souvenir shops. Overall, great place. Hotel overlooked the Parliament and was very close to chain bridge. Tram stopped outside the entrance and the hotel was very close to train and metro. Hotel staff - particulary the barman - were very helpful and hotel itself very comfortable. Would definitely recommend it to friends. There was a very nice bar/ restaurant on the corner (turn right when […] you exit the hotel) that we ate in a few times - sorry can't remember the name but it was very good value for money. this is the first time we have visited budapest and this hotel was a great choice. lots of restaurants close by and only a 15 minute walk across the bridge to the hustle and bustle of vaci utca. we paid extra for a danube view room which was well worth it and overall what we paid for the whole week was great value for money. only downside was that the […] beds were a little small (but i am used to a big kingsize at home) and there weren't any coffee or tea making facilities in the room, but it wasn't a big problem. the staff at this hotel are friendly and very helpful. when i enquired about if there was a printer in the hotel they let me use the printer in their back office to print out our boarding passes for our return flight. a nice touch in the hotel was the pianist that played in the bar a couple of nights - and the cocktails are wonderful!! we met some very nice hungarian people on this holiday and really enjoyed our stay in budapest. i would definitely recommend one of the bus tours around the city as it takes you to all the sites and is well worth the money. the view from the palace in the catle hill district behind the hotel is absolutely fantastic. we will go back again one day :-) Lesa meira

"Great Views and Good Location"
Great view of Pest from the Buda side. Nice location to see Buda - just behind up the hill - 10 minute walk across the Chain Bridge to explore Pest. Cheap food is available on the street behind the hotel. Food in the hotel was pretty spendy.
The staff were extremely helpful with queries we had. Breakfast was a bit expensive but very nice and kept us going all day. Hotel was spotless, and quite central. I would definately stop there again
