Ég og konan erum hlauparar og ferðumst varla án þess að hlaup komi þar við sögu. Nú var komið að því að hlaupa í Bristol, en hvernig átti að komast þangað og hvar átti að búa. Við vorum svo heppin að uppgötva vefsíðuna Hotels.com og þar fundum við hótel nálæt þeim stað sem upphaf og endir hlaupsins virtist vera og á verðlagi sem okkur fannst eðlilegt. Við pöntuðum síðan hótelið í gegnum Hotels.com og stóðst allt í sambandi við það, í raun þekkum við ekki til Hotels.com en spurðumst lítillega fyrir um það hjá hótelum hérna heima og virtust þeir ekki þekkja það nema af góðu. Við flugum til Heathrow, tókum lest frá Heathrow til Paddington stöðvarinnar í London, og þaðan tókum við lest til Bristol. Ferðin frá flugvellinum til Bristols tók um fjórar klukkustundir, en meðan við vorum í Bristol uppgötvuðum við að það er bæði fljótara, þægilegra og ódýrara að taka rútubíl (bus) beint á milli Bristol og Heathrow flugvallarins. En nú vorum við komin til járnbrautarstöðvarinnar í Bristol, þaðan var um 15 mínútna gangur á hótelið. Hótelið kom okkur skemmtilega á óvart, stafsfólkið þægilegt, og staðsetningin svo að segja fullkomin hvað okkur hlauparana varðaði því startið í hlaupinu og endamarkið voru svo að segja umhverfis hótelið í 100 metra fjarlægð. Hlaupara leggja mikið uppúr staðsetningu frá starti og endamarki svo það gat ekki verið betra. Hlauparar leggja líka mikið uppúr að sturtuaðstaða sé góð á herbergjunum, en það var mjög góð sturtuaðstaða á Ibis Bristol Centre. Morgunmatur var ekki innifalin, þótti okkur það kostur, en það var hægt að fá góðan morgunmat á hótelinu ef maður vildi á sanngjörnu verði að því okkur fannst, líka var hægt að fá hádegis og kvöldmat þarna, svo var líka hægt að sitja þarna niðri á kvöldin með bjór eða kaffi ef maður vildi. Í nágreninu og miðbænum sem er í um 10 til 30 mínútna göngufjarlægð er líka mikið úrval af kaffistöðum og veitingastöðum. Á herberginu var aðstaða til að hita sér vatn og fá sér té eða kaffi og líkaði okkur það. Það má því

Lady on reception (sorry didn't see her name but she is from Nottingham) was very friendly and extremely helpful. Breakfast was good and a overall good choice. Will certainly return at some point.

A relaxing stay with nice facilities in the room such as hairdryer, coffee maker and iron. Nice bedding.
"A little hard to find, but good location."
We had trouble finding the Bath Hilton due to one-way streets and traffic congestion, but it is close to the Abbey, Roman baths and Pump Room, so it's worth the trouble. Two negatives: internet access was available only in the lobby and parking costs approx. $22 per night. "Poor hotel, good location"
Had to move rooms three times as I was unhappy with our rooms. Staff were unfriendly. Although a good location.

Had a very relaxing overnight stay. Certianley would stay again at the special rate as I travel frequently to Cornwall to see my son.
"Don't get the breakfast"
We stayed here recently in March and was fairly satisfied with the hotel. The real plus for the place is it's central location which is a couple of blocks from the Abbey, the Roman Baths and Pulteny Bridge on the river Avon. The Royal Crescent, and the Circus are a little further away but well within walking distance. However, for the two of us one […] morning, the breakfast buffet came to the equivalent of $60! Would like to recommend the restaurant called Browns and the Raven Pub for lunch that has a long menu of various pies. The beer is very good too and it won a CAMRA award. Lesa meira
"More of a motel"
We stayed for one night . There was a warm welcome and the parking issue was resolved. More information on booking or when I phoned to ask about parking would have been better!! The deluxe room was reasonable, but not deluxe!!. The air conditioning was difficult to control, [no instructions] so had to open a window. The bed was very firm and thus uncomfortable. "City Centre hotel"
This hotel is perfect for exploring Bath, only a few minutes walk to the city centre and a lot of the historical sights. The hotel was very clean and comforable and the staff frendly and helpfull. I would recamend this hotel and will certianly use it next time I visit Bath.

The room was not large but was adequate. the soap dish in the bathroom fell off and the lights around the mirror failed. the hotel staff were very good and we enjoyed the meals that we took. the food was very good and the service freindly and polite.. overall we enjoyed our stay and would go again

"Def use the hotel for my next trip to Bath!"
Nice clean, modern, well appointed rooms with a great shower, comfy bed. The hotel is in a great location with everything you want to see in Bath right on your doorstep and a 4/5 minute walk from Bath Spa station, and an underground car park. Efficient and very pleasant staff to check in. I'd definitely use the hotel for my next trip to Bath.

"Super break"
We booked a 2 night B&B break in the Hilton Bath and were not disappointed. Our superior room had been recently refurbished to a high standard. The staff were exceptionally helpful at all times. The Hotel is so conveniently situated for shopping and Thermae Spa. We will definitely return. Great value.

Though it's fairly corporate and looks like most Hilton hotels around the world, the location makes up for the lack of charm. Rooms are comfortable and very clean. Overall a decent bet for a visit to Bath.

The location is great for shopping and spa baths. The hotel could do with updating. the room was small and this was supposed to be an upgrade because we were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary, the bathroom had no heating, so it was uncomfortable being in there. The bar area is situated near the main entrance with an automatic door, which obviously […] was continually opening, when we visited in december, the weather was freezing, so it was too cold to sit and have a drink in the bar. "HILTON HOTEL BATH"
This hotel is brilliantly situated less than 5 minutes walk-and in girlie heels too!!-from loads of restaurants and pubs. It doesn't look much from the outside but the inside more than makes up for it and the view over the river at breakfast was delightful. My husband and I stayed here after a thoroughly enjoyable stay at the Hilton near the O2 London […] and will definately be looking at Hiltons as the first choice again. Lesa meira

"Hilton Bath City 1 night stay"
Generally all good location close to places of interest and shops no need to travel any further than walking distance to get to these locations. Only winge was that the heating did not seem to work consistantly in our room.

I cannot say enough great things about our stay. The staff was amazing and courtious, the location was centralized, we walked there from the train station, it was perfect.

The hotel is located in a very convenient location close to all the must see sights. The room is also clean and comfort.

The Bath Hilton is ideally placed near all the attractions, and offered an adequate stay. However, the noise levels within the hotel were off-putting - we heard other guests all night long walking above us or in the corridor, blowing their noses and using the loo next door. Earplugs helped. A lot.
The parking is a very big broblem.Every time you go into the car park it cost you fifteen POUNDS. I was also surprised i was not able to use the teletex on the TV IN THE BEDROOM .
Experienced a loud buzzing noise for the last 2 hours of our stay which spoiled our experience somewhat, it seemed to be coming from the aircon. We reported it to the staff on our exit.

Ok, so The Bath Hilton isn't the best looking hotel from the outside and i did do a little silent gulp as we arrived - after turning down some 'prettier' hotels... HOWEVER as they say, looks are not everything/ don't be put off by the cover/ we are all beautiful inside blah blah - well it's true, the inside of The Bath Hilton was really nice, big, spacious […] and the bar/ restaurant areas were really nice. We had a deluxe double room which was lovely, big and even had an 'ok' river view. The bathroom was really nice and modern too. However the best thing about this hotel is definitely location! You can practically smell the Old baths and Bath Abbey they are so close - just 5 min walk (if that) and you are there - you don't even need to turn off from the hotel road to walk to Abbey/ Baths. Town centre is also just a few mins away - all in all a great get away. One problem, although this wasn't the hotels fault, we went to see the Christmas markets (arrived on dec 17th) however they closed on the 11th! hmmm - make sure you do your research first! enjoy. Trouble controlling room temperature, mostly too cold. Supposed to be queen size deluxe with complimentary bottled water and newspapers - got neither. Bed on wheels - not very convenient when sitting up trying to watch TV and sliding across room with pillows falling down the back of the bed! Had to block bed with room chairs to try to prevent this!! […] Black ice at foot of hotel steps which we fell nastily on on day of departure - reported immediately to reception staff - nothing done about it - checked 15 minutes and 2-3 hours later - still there and getting worse. Elderly person could have easily fallen and had serious injury. An excellent hotel, excellent breakfast and restaurant service, which I had stayed in only 4 weeks earlier, but this weekend was spoiled by several minor factors, but, when put together, makes a dreadful review I'm sorry to say. Staff seemed to be more concerned with keeping the xmas parties in fine spirits! Complaint regarding fall and lack of treatment of black ice already being submitted to Hilton. Lesa meira
"Fab location (can't be beaten), but needs a refurb"
For sightseeing and shopping in Bath, this is a fabulous place to stay as the location is just brilliant... just steps away from the centre of the City. The hotel itself is fine, service was good and staff were all friendly. However, the hotel is in deperate need of a refurb, but if you're not too fussy about scuff marks on walls or the odd bit of peeling […] wallpaper then I wouldn't worry too much about this. Our room was on the second floor overlooking the front of the hotel and was quite noisy until the early hours, as there were a lot of Christmas parties in the hotel that night. If you prefer a quiet room then request the back of the hotel or a higher floor? The room was clean but very very small so not much room to move around. Oh - warning! The bathroom door was opaque but you could clearly see what other person is doing in the room. Also, there was a gap below the door so you could hear everything!! If this is your first romantic night away with someone, then splash out on a bigger room to avoid this, or I'd stay somewhere else. If you've been married 20 years, then it'll be just like being at home! :-) Lesa meira
"Great location but rooms street-side very noisy"
This hotel is perfectly located. Car parking in Podium short stay car park cost just £15 fom Friday late afternoon to Sunday morning. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfast. We stayed two nights. First night was dreadful with people shouting coming out of the pubs. Kept us up all night. We moved to a room on the river side and that was great […] - no noise. The double beds are actually twins clicked together so you can feel the line in the middle. I do recommend this hotel due to great location and friendly staff but please ask for a room at the back and NOT street-side to avoid sleepless night. Lesa meira

"Right in the centre of Historic Bath"
I booked this hotel on the premise that it was a Hilton so you know what you would be getting and that it is more or less in the middle of Bath and a great base for exploring the city and shops. The room was clean and comfortable but my only complaint would be for it's size, it's a bit overpriced but you are paying for the convinience of the location. Although […] the dinning/breakfast area needs modernising, it is a very well stocked and tasty breakfast, having pretty much everything you would want for breakfast! Lesa meira
"Perfect location for (Christmas) shopping"
We spent the weekend at the Christmas fayre and the location was perfect for dropping bags back. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The only downside was that the street noise was intrusive at night

Hotel well-conveniently located in the city centre of Bath. Great breakfast food selection and service. DO NOT USE THE HOTEL RECOMMENDED PARKING - The parking of the shopping centre opp. the hotel. Rip Off! We parked in the local council open car park opp. the hotel. Free from late afternoon until 8am.

The first thing I noticed about this hotel was the lack of soundproofing from the corridor into the room so you could hear everyone going past, opening their doors and every word they uttered. The second thing was the bed, really uncomfortable on my side with a lump in the mattress. The third thing was that the toilet rolls were mounted about an inch […] off the floor by the toilet pan - very unhygenic for spray from men using the toilet. Inadequate towel hanging space. Poor soundproofing from windows onto front of hotel - could hear people on street below passing by until 3.30am. Fly in room. No place to put wet soap as design of sink gave nowhere to put it. All in all extremely disappointed at spending that amount of money for rubbish night's lack of sleep and so much noise going on all around. Lesa meira
"Nice enough hotel, great location"
Right in the centre of Bat, with a multi storey car park directly below. The car park gets very busy at the weekend, we had to queue for a while to get in. It cost £15 to park overnight. We arrived slightly early as we were attending a wedding, and the hotel very kindly found us a room that was ready so we could dump our bags and get to the wedding. […] The room was just big enough, but how much room do you really need? Bed seemed comfortable enough, slept very well, but could be something to do with the champagne at the wedding ;) Breakfast had a bit of a queue (5 minutes), but was very good.
