Allt viðmót starfsmanna einkenndist af gleði. Það er þetta sem er svo smitandi. Allt var gert af þvílíkri umhyggju að ég mun mæla með þessu hóteli. Þarna er auðvelt og stutt að komast inn til Crawley, sem er sætur lítill bær og þar er hægt að fá ódýra leigubíla með innkaupin heim á hótelið. Þetta er United Cars,,co.uk.. Þeir koma líka til Gatwick Airport, en þá sækja þeir mig þar sem bílaleigurnar eru og kostar miklu minna en leigubílar af flugvellinum. Njótið kveðja, Ingigerður.

We were two women, mother and daugther, aged 82 and 59 staying for 6 days. Arrived 2 hours early for check-in and the friendly staff checked if we could get our rooms at once, no problem. The hotel is beautifully decorated, although not fully renovated. The cleanness is fine. We had excellent English breakfast in the morning and later heard from a taxi-driver that the eggs came from a farm owned by the hotel owners with ,,happy hens" wantering around the estate. Entertainment 3 nights a week was cheerful and aimed at the age group that is most common at the hotel 60-90 years old. The unimportant (for us at least) downsides are that the free WiFi internet connection is at neighbourhood hotel, but it was free and it worked, so this is a minor issue. TV is not satellite, but who comes to Eastbourne for TV? Last the telephone in one room was not working, but the staff did it's utmost to solve this ending by moving my mother to another room. A few steps up to the main entrance may be difficult for some people this age. Overall we had the perfect stay at this pleasant stay, chatting with the ladies visiting and the pianist in the lobby. Had a very good Sunday dinner and if we return to Eastbourne this is the hotel we want to return to. Helpful staff, nice surroundings and cleanness, also nice location by the sea, yet a few minutes away from the more noisy bars, is the reason.

Very good hotel if you need to be close to Gatwick airport

Ég var þvi miður ekki sátt við hótelið, við fengum pínu lítið herbergi sem snéri út í hliðar götu (sem var bara allt í lagi) nema það var bar sem var hinu megin við götuna og ekki nóg með að við gátum varla sofið fyrir viðskiptavinum þessa bara þá var maður vakinn eldsnemma bæði á föstud og laugard morgni við bæði ruslabíl, flöskubíl og kústabílinn. Hótelið […] er orðið mjög gamalt og þegar maður gekk um gólf þá brakaði svakalega i öllur. Fyrir utan þetta var þrifalegt og morgunmaturinn góður. Lesa meira

Good value, good location, helpful staff. During our stay hotel was changing owners (from Barcelo to Puma) and the staff smoothed over any potential problems. One small word of warning - if you're driving - check the car parking costs and space availability!
"Conference at Brighton Centre"
I was most upset that I had to pay £23 per night stay for parking and also for wifi access in my room. The breakfast and staff was excellent, however on my last day I had to wait 20 minutes for porridge which only took 5 mins the day before. It change hands the last night of my stay. "Disappointed with cleanliness andcondition of room"
The food was good, helpful staff in the restaurant and at the reception desk but disappointed with the standard of the room. Even if the room requires redecoration there is no excuse for limescale in the toilet and around the shower head, accumulation of dust generally.

"Barcelo Brighton Old Ship Hotel"
Very old but actually showing it's age! Tatty in places needs updating and decorating. Garage charge of £23 per day made the stay expensive. Staff very friendly and helpful in all areas. Breakfast fantastic.

excellent hotel, good standard of accomm and great location, ideal for brighton town centre and nightlife breakfast is excellent, couldnt fault it and there was plenty of everything we stayed at easter and even had an option of sparkling wine and hot x buns for breakfast on easter sunday!
"Great location, but shame about the room"
The hotel was in a great location right along the seafront and looked very nice from the outside. The interior lobby area and reception looked nice but old style. The room itself upon first impressions looked a nice size. However as the evening went on I could not believe how dark the room was as there were only bedside lights and 2 very dull light […] lamps so it was impossible to see in the room! The bathroom although a nice size was terrible. The toilet had to be flushed several times before it worked and the shower was terrible constantly alternating between scalding hot and freezing cold! The windows in the bathroom rattled all the time with the wind. The only good thing about the room was the huge TV but we didn't come to stay in Brighton to just watch TV! The floorboards creaked in the room wherever you walked so must have been really annoying for the people in the below room. The stair case down to reception was very shabby with paint peeling off the walls. The breakfast however next morning could not be faulted, friendly staff and a great choice of food. Maybe we were just unlucky with our room as it was a shame we couldnt enjoy our stay at this hotel so would be reluctant to return or recommend to friends. We were in room 329! It is obviously an old hotel which has tried to be modernised but I feel its very important the waterworks work and maybe money should be invested in this side of things. Lesa meira

Much more personal than the other bigger hotels on the sea front that we have stayed at. Would definately stay here again. Lovely room.

Fab couple of nights here, staff very welcoming and helpful at check in, room decent size, clean but a little tired. Amazing breakfast and a warm welcome by the wonderful woman as you entered. Overall great hotel would recommend to others.

I stayed in nice room. All the staff was friendly and helpful with all my needs. The. Breakfast I had was a very good way to start my day. Overal I enjoyed my stay
"Perfect Brighton weekend hotel"
My partner and I had a delightful stay at Bacelo Old Shop. It is such a beautiful seaside hotel. The hallways may be a bit tired but who spends time in the hallway? The reception are is spacious and renovated and the room we were in was very comfortable indeed. The bed was so good we didn't want to get out of it! However we got up for breakfast on the […] Sunday morning to an absolute feast. Cold meats, fruit, cereal, yoghurt, pastries, toast, waffles, pancakes plus a full cooked buffet to choose from. There was even champagne if one wished to have a champagne breakfast. We also used the room service for dinner and had a really delicious and tender steak and a lovely bottle of red wine. The staff couldn't do enough for us and were friendly and smiley. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel and we will definitely be staying there again. Lesa meira

"Nice Hotel on the Beach Front"
We stayed one night, was a nice hotel, convenient location for the beach front, shopping in the lanes etc. Ten minute walk from the train station.
"Creaky Floors, Very Very Very Noisy outside"
if you must stya here, make sure you dont et the corner rooms above the chippie as the view may be spectacular but you cannot imagine the level of lud noise from below with windows closed. Every night the drunks scream their lungs out andhang out at the chip shop. The floors throughout the hotel are sooooo noisy that you hear all throghout the hotel. […] They just put a nice lick of paint on the hotel, but that only hides the decrepit nature of the floor inside. They need to spend some money on securing the floor. Breakfast was ok, but a bit blah. Staff were very nice I will say. but no way would I ever stay here again Lesa meira

Staff are lovely and will do there up most to help and assist you 10 out of 10 for Staff and friendliness. As far as the hotel goes it is dated, extremley noisey on Friday / Saturday evenings, also rooms are either extremley cold or boiling hot. The old Ship it is im afraid. This one needs to be docked for good i think.
"Not recommended"
I stayed here on the Friday night and Saturday night. When I arrived I was given a room it was dark and dingy and the heating didn't work, after complaining I was moved to a nice room with a sea view,unfortunately there was a busker outside singing till 4.15 am encouraging every drunk who passed to join in.The hotel made no effort to remove this man […] from the front of their hotel, Needless to say I had no sleep at all. "Barcelo Brighton Old Ship 4 stars? Maybe 2!"
Althought the name Old Ship fits with the hotel's condition, but I seriously question the number of stars. Moldy bathroom due to a complete lack of ventilation, almost useless shower thermostat giving either cold or boiling hot water. Depressingly low lighting in the room, decades of dust between the windows. "The Specials"
we booked the hotel to go and see The Specials - rooms where very dated. But it was very clean, the bed linen looked so clean it looked new. The noise from the generator/ airconditioning outside was loud but was tired enough to sleep through it. The breakfast was good english breakfast but we got there at 9.45am we had what was left, had to ask for […] drinks and glasses but staff were very friendly and helpful. My only issue is the car parking is a stupid amount of money to park the car for the night and that is with a subside. Lesa meira

"Old Ship- emphasis on "Old" should be noted"
Nice people, great location but in the middle of a rehab. Room was clean but dated to put it mildly. New wall covering didn't cover old blemishes, wouldn't want to be there when it's to cold. All in all was fine for one night but wouldn't go back

Old hotel with nice rooms once you're in. The breakfast is good but beware the bar food is appalling and incredibly overpriced - what you get is worse than the cheapest pub food. I've stayed there twice this year & liked the hotel, but had dining nightmares with the simplest dishes that would have Gordon Ramsay knocking on the door.

"Not the Best"
Although this hotel has been refurbished, They have missed some basic details, Had to move the TV to actually put the kettle on. Had to move the chair to get the Cups out of the Cupboard. Toilet seat kept falling off as it was such a cheap plastic one, Room was Very dingy and the lighting appalling, couldn't see to read. Overall Not a hotel that I […] would choose again! Lesa meira

"Barcelo Brighton"
Hotel was clean and comfortable! Breakfast was yummy but perhaps you could have self service pots of tea? We had to wait for a long time and for tea at breakfast after we asked about 4 people for a pot of tea. We did however understand that it was very busy at the time. Otherwise a really enjoyable stay!
"Needs bringing into the 21st Century!"
Was kept awake pretty much all night on the first night by the noise from the chip shop 20 yards away, it was open until 4.30 and this hotel doesn't benefit from double glazing. They reimbursed us for that night but not getting any sleep ruined our 3 night stay as we were shattered the next day. A poor hotel with poir rooms, don't get me started on […] the food! Lesa meira

"Old Ship Brighton- double glazing all round"
we were warning about the rooms not up to the standard of the reception area, but it was clean, but could do with some TLC and a lick of paint. The main issue was the noise about 2.00am to 4.00am outside the hotel and down the side streets. People coming out of clubs, shouting, screaming and fighting. I did mention that either the hotel gets security […] guards to move to people on or put double glazing in all the rooms. If you are given room 243 ask for another room with doulble glazing. Had different things wrong with the room when we arrived a broken bed which had to be changed and a telly that wasnt working which had to be fixed, the room in general was shabby. The plus side was the staff were great and the breakfast was lovely. But because the rooms needed updated would't stay there again unless they had a refurb.

We spent one night at the hotel just to celebrate our 24th anniversary and we were very impressed firstly with Hotels.com for all their help in getting us a sea view room and secondly to Malissa at the hotel for making us so welcome we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and yes we would return again

I would definitely stay at this hotel again! Although the hotel looks tired from the outside it is in keeping on the inside and true to it's nature being one of the oldest hotels in Brighton, but still with a slightly updated feel in the recepion areas. "TIRED & HUNGRY!!!!!!!!!!!"
Room was clean, but tired looking with chipped paint on all doors & skirting boards. The windows were not double glazed, so we never got any sleep due to being next to a small side road which was in constant use with people until the early hours, & then a little later the seaguls took over. The full english breakfast was poor, with hard fried eggs, […] stale looking beans & low quality sausage & bacon. Considering we had an early start the following morning we were not impressed, we also booked 2 rooms 447 & 449. Because our daughter was graduating from University we planned to have a pleaseant couple of days enjoying her achievement, but that was well & truly not the case!!! Staff were pleasant. Lesa meira

Excellent service from front desk on arrival and excellent service from the parking garage. Hotel is in a great location on the sea front close to the Lanes. We were "upgraded" to a sea view room which although was clean and had a comfortable bed was in desperate need of refurbishment. "You can hear everything in the street"
The hotel is so old. You can hear every thing outside.I couldn't sleep at the fist day. I felt I was lying on the street . If any door open or close, I would think some body was knocking my door. I didn't want to use thier left. It looks like not safe to me. The breakfast is very nice.

the hotel reception area was quite nice , but once we got to our room , the furnishing were not to bad ,but the general impression was extremely tatty , thye curtains had once been washed but not been ironed they were extremely screwed , the windows were painted closed some years ago . The bath room was very tired , the carpets were stained and looked […] like they has not had a vacume, the corridor which was very very untidy and has not been redecorated for many a long time , ther were several Fire doors were not properly working , and they slammed shut until well after mid night and again next morning Lesa meira
