"Convenient but smelly"
The only complaint I have is that the room smelled of smoke. I am sure they would have accommodated a room change if we asked. The person who checked us in was very friendly and efficient. A different person was working when we checked out and asked about our stay. We made a comment about the smoke smell and she said the hotel had just been converted […] to all non-smoking and the rooms had been remodeled, but different offer any apology. Lesa meira

"Hotel had issues"
Hotel needs some major updates. The metal clothes rack in our room was coming off the wall, bathroom door was rotting at the bottom, walls had cracks, wall paper peeling, etc... The breakfast buffet was good, hotel location was very convenient. Pull out couch was not clean, we had to request a new cover for the mattress. I reported the metal clothes […] rack to the Front Desk personally, the attendant didn't write anything down - just said thank you and turned away. Lesa meira
Pool was closed and not advertised on website. Employee at check in was apologetic and pleasant about that. Everything was clean and comfortable with a good breakfast.

"Country Inn and Suites in Clive"
The room was clean overall, and nicely decorated, however, furniture was worn and visibly scratched or slightly dented, but the beds and pillows were very comfy. Front desk and service personnel were not very friendly. Swimming pool and hot tub area was spacious, clean and inviting. Parking area was large, well-lit, and safe. Breakfast was outstanding, […] and a highlight of the visit. This was by far the best breakfast in terms of hot food choices, quality, freshness, and variety that I've ever experienced at a hotel in this price range. The breakfast room was lovely. Lesa meira

This hotel was in great location close to lots of shopping in West Des Moines and only 10-15 minute drive to other area attractions like the Zoo, State Capital and Historical Museum, Botanical Center and Prairie Meadows. The hotel will be undergoing a huge upgrade in all aspects...furniture, lighting, carpeting, wall covers, drapes, linens. They had […] samples of what it was going to look like and it will be absolutely gorgeous...looking forward to the next stay as this project begins on March 1st. It was unseasonably warm in Des Moines on January 30th....hit a high of 65 that day so the room was very warm when we arrived, but did cool down fairly quick with the AC on....breakfast area was also extremely warm the next morning but usually on January 30th in Des Moines....it's more like a high of 10 degrees, not 65! Was nice having a hot breakfast with eggs, bacon, waffles and not just a continental. Pool area was very clean and hot tub was relaxing. Looking forward to our next stay! "Travel for work"
I was in town for a couple days for work. The hotel was quiet and in a good location to gas station (to pick up snacks/drinks) and restaurants. Fitness center was a small but machines worked fine. "Country Inn Behind Cracker Barrel"
We were there for one night, in town for a meeting. It was clean. The staff was friendly, and the breakfast was good. It was only a little way from two interstates, very convenient. Like someone else said, once you know it's behind Cracker Barrel, you've got it made!
The room was very spacious and clean. I love the larger size of the tube and the water was very hot, great! I wished the room had more lighting though. The morning breakfast had a great variety with a steady flow of food refilling. Although I did not use them, the pool and fitness rooms were very clean.

They are planning to update but not soon enough. The price on internet way better than walk in rate. The free breakfast was great and kitchen staff friendly, front desk staff could be nicer. A lot of competition within blocks, work out room too small and confined, dark in pool area.

I try to stay here on my frequent trips to Des Moines (so I've probably written several reviews here.) Once you know how to find the hotel (it's behind the Cracker Barrel) it's a convenient location, near the highway and plenty of restaurants. The pool is big enough for a real swim. "Comfortable in Des Moines"
Location was perfect, staff was friendly and helpful, hot breakfast was amazing and with the new renovations coming soon, the starting to look worn decorum will be no longer. The pool and spa smelled clean, but the bottom of the pool was a little murky-my ONLY complaint.

This was a very comfortable friendly stay. Both the pool and hot tub were in great condition and big for a hotel. I will stay there definetly ever time I go to Des Moines. The breakfast was amazing with good hot/ cold food and great selection. Hands down the best hotel I've stayed in for the money. Thanks! Janet
"Needs a freshening up."
I have stayed in this facility twice and have had a good experience each time. The room was clean and the hotel staff very friendly. However, the furnishings and decor are getting worn looking and in need of freshening up.

Always a nice place to stay. Not fancy but can always count on clean room, comfortable bed, and a good breakfast. Get the one bedroom suite. Great room for not much more than the regular rooms.

We went for a "girls get-away". This hotel had it all; pool, hot tub, exercise room, coffee available at all hours and the most incredible complimentary breakfast ever! We will be staying here again!

"Good hotel in a good location"
We stayed 3 nights while visiting family over Christmas. The hotel was clean, quite and comfortable and provided a nice oasis when time to get away from family and relax. The suite was well appointed with TV's in both the living room and bed room. Hotel service was good and the breakfast was great. Would definitely stay again in the future.

The hotel itself is not bad for the price. Right off of the highway. However, when I was looking at hotels I thought this had a "business center". It does not, it has a computer in the loby with a old black and white printer and no way to print color.

We loved our stay here. Very nice hotel and very clean. People were very pleasant. Our room was really nice, we will be back again!!
"One thing to be careful about"
This is a good place, clean, comfortable and close to a lot of Des Moines....but it's become a 'team headquarters' and the last 4 or 5 times we have been there it's been full of kids sports teams....so good luck getting breakfast, the poor staff just gets overrun and finding even a cup of coffee can become a chore.
