Ég og konan erum hlauparar og ferðumst varla án þess að hlaup komi þar við sögu. Nú var komið að því að hlaupa í Bristol, en hvernig átti að komast þangað og hvar átti að búa. Við vorum svo heppin að uppgötva vefsíðuna Hotels.com og þar fundum við hótel nálæt þeim stað sem upphaf og endir hlaupsins virtist vera og á verðlagi sem okkur fannst eðlilegt. Við pöntuðum síðan hótelið í gegnum Hotels.com og stóðst allt í sambandi við það, í raun þekkum við ekki til Hotels.com en spurðumst lítillega fyrir um það hjá hótelum hérna heima og virtust þeir ekki þekkja það nema af góðu. Við flugum til Heathrow, tókum lest frá Heathrow til Paddington stöðvarinnar í London, og þaðan tókum við lest til Bristol. Ferðin frá flugvellinum til Bristols tók um fjórar klukkustundir, en meðan við vorum í Bristol uppgötvuðum við að það er bæði fljótara, þægilegra og ódýrara að taka rútubíl (bus) beint á milli Bristol og Heathrow flugvallarins. En nú vorum við komin til járnbrautarstöðvarinnar í Bristol, þaðan var um 15 mínútna gangur á hótelið. Hótelið kom okkur skemmtilega á óvart, stafsfólkið þægilegt, og staðsetningin svo að segja fullkomin hvað okkur hlauparana varðaði því startið í hlaupinu og endamarkið voru svo að segja umhverfis hótelið í 100 metra fjarlægð. Hlaupara leggja mikið uppúr staðsetningu frá starti og endamarki svo það gat ekki verið betra. Hlauparar leggja líka mikið uppúr að sturtuaðstaða sé góð á herbergjunum, en það var mjög góð sturtuaðstaða á Ibis Bristol Centre. Morgunmatur var ekki innifalin, þótti okkur það kostur, en það var hægt að fá góðan morgunmat á hótelinu ef maður vildi á sanngjörnu verði að því okkur fannst, líka var hægt að fá hádegis og kvöldmat þarna, svo var líka hægt að sitja þarna niðri á kvöldin með bjór eða kaffi ef maður vildi. Í nágreninu og miðbænum sem er í um 10 til 30 mínútna göngufjarlægð er líka mikið úrval af kaffistöðum og veitingastöðum. Á herberginu var aðstaða til að hita sér vatn og fá sér té eða kaffi og líkaði okkur það. Það má því

Free wifi, friendly staff, and great location make this hotel a winner. The room was a little cramped, but it gets the job done.

The Egar Townhouse is a very nice place to stay for a few days when exploring Bath, or just getting away from it all.
It's a good choice for me to stay in Bath. It's near the attractions! It's quiet and the staff were really nice! But the wifi was not good enough. The room is a little small but still comfortable.!

If you aren't too fussy about size of room or decor, then this is ideal. Breakfasts are good, staff friendly, location excellent and car parking permit solves city centre parking problems for a small extra fee.

I stayed here with my mum for two nights NYE 2012. The room was a little cramped (we had a twin) but nice period decor. Bathroom was very modern, bright and clean, although again a slightly bigger shower would have been appreciated is this one was minuscule. Unfortunately the thermostat on one of the radiators didn't work so and we couldn't turn it […] down and it was way too hot in the room during the night. The hotel has three stars due to condition of carpets and things like that but I cannot say enough about the staff, wonderful. Made our stay so pleasant. The room was very clean, the location ideal, so close to it all! Very safe! The breakfast was hot, could have porridge, or full English breakfast we choose the vegetarian (no meat) and it was great. OK for a short stay in Bath. All downtown locations in walking distance. Small room. Intensive breakfast smell in the morning.

If you're looking for a base to tour Bath and the surrounding area, this place is great. It's on the most famous road in Bath and is very convenient to walk from (about 15 minute walk from central, 20 to train station) It's very basic, no luxuries, but unless you're going to lie around and relax, it's fine to stay in. The only complaint I have are the […] size of the showers, as in there isn't any! Don't expect to bend over or to really get to clean unless you completely shut it off. It's really small and the showerhead is massive! The breakfast is great, and the service is commendable. It's a 3 star, and is actually clean, which is my biggest pet peeve when i stay somewhere. They held our bags an entire day when we checked out, since our train wasn't until that evening, since the checkout is much earlier than my tastes (it was at 10). The Edgar Townhouse in Bath is a clean, convenient, well-maintained guest house ideally located near the heart of Bath. Rates are competitive. Staff are friendly and helpful and breakfast is excellent. Parking in the area is tight, but the guest house has permits available at a minimum cost. Thoroughly recommended.

Beautiful Townhouse in lovely street in Bath. Warmly greeted on arrival and helped with our suitcases upstairs. Large double room with view over parklands and hills beyond. In quiet area but easy walk over Pultney Bridge to attractions in town centre. Bright dining room for full and continental breakfasts. Can help yourself to cereal and coffee etc […] and wide choice for cooked breakky. Only down side for some is the number of stairs up to your room if on upper floors. Older style bathroom but perfectly OK shower with plenty of hot water, water pressure and room to move. We had a wonderful stay and were reluctant to move on. Lesa meira

My daughter and I had a very comfortable one night stay. The staff carried my case up and made us very welcome.Had a huge English breakfast with two fried eggs! In a very central spot for sightseeing and we were able to leave our cases there until late afternoon, which was a great help.

Very helpful staff, great location. No lift, so bringing young children up stairs is difficult. Parking on streets in the area can be a problem as the hotel's permit (charged seperately) only works in a specific zone which is also a pay and display zone for the general public.

In a great location, very close to the centre of Bath. My room was on the bottom floor and was very spacious with a comfortable bed and nice big bath. Being on the bottom floor was a little noisy with people walking above but not to bad at all. The breakfast was very good with a big selection. A wonderful location for our short break. Great room, tasty breakfast, well located and in a beautiful old Georgian house. Only comment is that our room was up 5 flights of stairs - which wasn't an issue for us, but wouldn't be suitable for the elderly.

Et veldig fint sted å bo når man skal besøke Bath. En rolig gate med gangavstand til alle byens severdigheter. Rent og hyggelig til en rimelig penge!

Et ganske slitt hotell. De fleste av rommene (alle?) ligger i underetasjen, så utsikten var rett ut på en trapp som gikk opp til gatenivå. Dette gjorde det i tillegg vanskelig å lufte. Beliggenheten til hotellet er imidlertid topp; i en stille gate rett ved sentrum. Betjeningen på hotellet var utrolig hyggelige og frokosten kan absolutt anbefales.

"Fredelig og sentrumsnært."
Veldig grei beliggenhet, 10 min gange gjennom sentrum av Bath, fra jernbanen. Hyggelige rom, med gammeldags sjarm. Frokosten gir mange valg, og betjeningen er diskret og serviceminded. Støyfritt, til tross for kort avstand til alt vesentlig i byen! Litt lytt mellom noen av rommene.

Das Hotel befindet sich in einer nur wenig befahrenen Straße und liegt in der Nähe zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten der Stadt. Über die historische Pulteney Brücke gelangt man in ca. 10 Minuten zu Fuß ins Zentrum mit seinen vielen Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, Restaurants, Pubs und Tea rooms. Vom Hotel bis zum Bahnhof Bath Spa läuft man ca. 20 Minuten. Wir wohnten […] im Zimmer Nr. 6, das eines der größeren Zweibett-Zimmer ist. Das Bad, ausgestattet mit Dusche und WC, ist sehr klein. WLAN auf dem Zimmer hat gut funktioniert und ist kostenfrei. Im Clubraum des Hotels steht den Gästen von ca. 10 bis 21.30 Uhr ein Computer mit kostenfreiem Internetzugang zur Verfügung. Der Frühstücksraum ist klein, aber gemütlich. Zum Frühstück gibt es Toast, Marmelade, Honig, Cerialien, Yoghurt, Obst, Saft, Milch, Kaffee und Tee. Die warmen Speisen, wie Spiegeleier, Rührei, gegrillte Tomate, Champignons, Bohnen und Würstchen werden auf Bestellung frisch zubereitet. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Rezeption ist nachts nicht besetzt. Wir haben uns im Edgar Townhouse sehr wohl gefühlt und empfehlen das Hotel gerne weiter. Lesa meira
"Very nice stay"
Two night in Bath in this "Guest house" / Hotel was very nice. Large family room with lots of space. Standard breakfast in a small but nice room. Very close to the center of Bath and both sightseeing tours passes close to the Edgar.
