Varsity Inn OSU North – Columbus

My family and I usually spend a weekend every spring in Columbus for a Science Olympiad event at OSU. Last year we stayed elsewhere and it was awful! (Knights Inn to be specific). We stayed 2 nights for an athletic event at OSU. The price was reasonable, the room very clean, and the bed extremely comfortable. It was just minutes from everywhere we wanted to go in and around OSU. The one negative was being awakened several times each night by loud guests out in the parking lot. The hotel was nothing special but was certainly adequate for a couple of days when your intent is not to spend a lot of time at the hotel. It is not a resort, but a normal highway motel for a reasonable rate.

was ok, not great checked in at 5pm and room was not ready yet. very small room, shower water pressure not good. The room was pretty clean and location was good.

Very clean room. The bed was somewhat comfortable but the springs made an annoying sound every time I rolled over. Also, the housekeeping staff entered my room at 9:00am on my check out day while I was still in bed. Unacceptable!

Parking anywhere near your room was an issue. Also, the ice machine was broken, there was only one, and no options offered other than purchasing ice elsewhere. Plus, we had to hold the handle down on our toilet for it to flush properly.

The room was clean but outdated, I had to wait two and half hours after check in time to get a room because there were none cleaned from the night before. Lock on door was broke, television did't work, shower was broken. definitely not worth the twenty dollars I saved by booking there and not somewhere else. I was really disappointed.

The reviews for this hotel have gone down since I booked my stay. It was the weekend of the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, and I don't think the hotel staff had ever experienced that much traffic. I've read some of the other negative reviews, but we had a very positive experience. Stayed two nights, with great customer service. The room was clean and it was quiet. The service people at front desk went out of their way to answer our multitude of questions. Pleasant and lovely. I will return.

The air conditioning is not fixed to the wall and does not turn on and off all night long. A luxury hotel feel at a moderate price.

The hotel was quiet and in a good location...a few good restaurants within a few minutes walk. We walked to the football game and it took approximately 25 minutes.

Overall this was an acceptable budget hotel. Nothing fancy about it, but did job. Our room was clean and well kept, staff was friendly, and it was in a quiet location. The biggest nuisance we dealt with was the strong smell of mold in the room--especially the bathroom and the sink areas. Fortunately we didn't spend much time in the room, making it a […] minor issue, but it would have made things a bit uncomfortable if we had planned to hang out in the room for long periods of time. Other than the smell of mold, the room was in good condition and the beds were comfortable. There are a handful of restaurants within a 10 minute walk which was convenient. The hotel is conveniently located a couple minutes from the Ohio State University campus. There are plenty of fast food restaurants nearby, and a very good Mexican Restaurant next door that serves outstanding food with a good happy hour special for drinks ( and you only have to walk across the parking lot)

The hotel was okay--the chair in the room was worn, perhaps should have been replaced awhile ago. Also, the hair dryer had only one speed working. It was okay for what we needed it for, though.

Acrtually, we didn't stay - we left after our event at The Schott because my husband didn't want to stay there because it just wasn't up to his standards of cleanliness. The carpet was very dirty and the rest just didn't look that clean either. We checked in in the afternoon, and checked out at 10:00 p.m.

Over priced for what it offers. No towels for pool. Vending machines were not air conditioned. Had kids who wanted candy, it was half melted. Staff wasn't friendly at all. We stayed in three hotels on this trip. This was by far the worse!

The Varsity Inn North was our base of operations for four nights on a visit to our home town. It's very conveniently located and is minutes from most central Columbus destinations. If your reason for visiting is in Upper Arlington, Grandview, Clintonville, or any area related to the north central part of the city you won't find anything as quick at […] this price. Staff was friendly and courteous. Room was very basic but comfy and the place couldn't hurt from remodel but I'd imagine the price would spike. I'd stay there again. Not a sidewalk area but you can walk to a very good Mexican restaurant called El Vaquero or Rooster's Wings. They're both 100 yards away. Other than that you have to hope in the car. The location was great. the pool was not open for a reason no one could answer. the shower was not cleaned from the previous guest and there was a huge tar stain or something on the floor. it was not the best stay i have ever had.

I've stayed here before and both times the toilet actually had been visibly used and not flushed! Wow- the housekeeper? The rest of the stay was fine and it's a great location- ok price

I booked this hotel room with my boyfriend because we were in town to see a show at the OSU Schottenstein center. We picked this place because it was inexpensive and close, and while it is by no means a luxury hotel, it suited our needs perfectly. Manager could not remember his computer passwords so it took fifteen minutes to check in. Other than that, everything was fine.
