Downtown Value Inn – Portland

The hotel was very comfortable. I slept very well. Area was quiet. Hotel staff was helpful in recommending places to eat in the area. Location was excellent for walking to the downtown area.

When I book this one, the guest rating was 2.9, so I thought it might be bad., but actually it is different from my expectation. It is located in really good place. The room was big and very comfortable. I'm really satisfied. If I go to the Portland again, I will stay here again.

Never received room service and had to pay extra for our room key. It was a fine place to stay for its price. Parking is pretty terrible too. The only thing that made this work the stay was we split the room three ways. It isn't expensive by any means but it also isn't worth what they charge. I guess I didn't get stabbed.

Looking past the the old and trashy rooms, this hotel offers nothing! The staff was extremely rude. The front desk attempted to keep most of my deposit because another person exited as the same time as myself so the clerk argued and argued that I needed to pay for an extra person. In the room, one floor above mine, there was two hours of domestic abuse that kept me awake all night. In addition to that, there were drunk people kicking my motel room door because they couldn't remember which room was there. It's a very basic hotel, that had a useful downtown location. If you are expecting a 3 star (or above) hotel - this is not for you. There is a lock on the door, a reasonably comfortable bed and an adequate bathroom. The lobby and hallways are very dated but the staff were helpful. The room was very noisy with next doors TV and conversation and upper floors foot steps. The WiFi was very slow. It was often disconnected. Nobody is able to watch any films. The parking was very narrow. That was only for compact car. I'm sorry, I won't be come back.

Rooms could have been arranged differently to maximize space and comfort for the guest. Water pressure in the shower was horrible

The room was very spacious and included a pantry area complete with fridge, microwave, counter and cabinets, table and chairs. There was a person at the front desk 24 hours a day. This hotel is located right next to the transit lines, easy to reach from almost anywhere. Good pizza place next door. Housekeeping did not make up our beds, which I thought was weird. But it was a fine place to stay for a few nights if you're not expecting luxury.

This place was one of the worst I ever stayed in. It was filthy, bedsheets were stained, bathroom was unfit for human use and there was a kitchen adjoining the bedroom that looked out on the adjoining street with no curtains. There seemed to be a lot of young people staying here and maybe making a racket (we saw signs to this effect), but we didn't notice a lot of noise. We did see a beer can in the hallway, and it had a little bit of a roughness around the edges, but at that location and that price, it was a very good deal and quite comfortable. I stayed at this hotel for the Portland Marathon many years ago before the renovated it. It was a dive back then, but we needed a place to stay for the marathon. Since then they have renovated it. My husband and I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. We received an infestation of bed bugs all over our bodies. We are normally the type that will push the envelope on a hotel. You dont stay there that much, its just a bed, etc. The location was great, the price was great. I could even stand that the rooms showed significant wear and tear. The staff […] tha twe spoke with were pleasant although they didnt do much. The garbage was emptied one day but that was the extent of our service. We had to ask for TP and some other room consumables. EVEN STILL I would have said its not THAT bad and considering the location and price I would stay there again. NO MORE! This is the worst case of bed bugs I have ever seen. This hotel just bumped to the 2nd worst I have EVER stayed at. They had the better water pressure of the downtown motels around Portland State, making for a refreshing hangover shower! The beds were comfortable, but the rooms were kind of chilly. Since we were just in our rooms to sleep and to get ready to go out, the street noise did not bother us. Not bad for a no-frills hotel. Friendly staff, and decent price. Great location downtown, but lousy parking garage. Also, every appliance in the room was SUPER loud (heat, bathroom fan). Could use some more modern appliances, but for the price it was a decent hotel.

When we checked in, the guy was all business, but very friendly. The rooms were very standard and nothing special. We did have to plug in the microwave and refrigerator in both rooms. Made walking to and from the bars very easy. The second night, we all were too exhausted to go out, so we grabbed a bottle of wine and played some card games in the room. We called it a night about 1am. At about 3am, there was a knock on my door. I answered it and it was the police. They said that they got a noise complaint from my room! I assured the officers that it could not have been us. As an after thought, it may have been us, but the police arrived two hours late and we definitely were not as rowdy as some rooms around us as we went to bed. Overall, this is isn't a terrible place to spend a weekend. If you are going out and drinking. Overall the room wasn't bad. The facility is old, bathrooms have been updated but rest of room not so much. Lighting was poor at best, and poorly located. Location was terrific. For rooms being updgraded/refurbished in 2009, hope they did not pay too much. Very poor workmanship on tile (numerous crumbling crevise's visible) in BR, bath tub faucet was not stationary on the wall, furniture looked liked various old (not antique) items not matching from a garage sale. It provided shelter, soap and towels […] but NO other amenities like an alarm clock or hairdryer. For the $$ not worth it in my opinion. Did have a TV frig and micro which we did not need. Hall carpeting made you dizzy and a strong cooking oil odor was in the hallway both days. Parking garage very difficult to maneuver in- actually was told to 'back out' onto 5th street traffic due to one way exit being blocked. The angle of lhe lot back ward was nearly a 45 degree to 90 dgree uphill. Also had to wake up front counter man who was deep asleep at the counter to check out at 8AM.. Lesa meira
