"Location, location, location"
While Florence is not a big city and walking everywhere is pretty easy, the Pendini is located in the heart of everything. Only blocks from Santa Maria Novella train station, the Duomo and Baptistry, the Piazza Repubblica is always abuzz with activity. The only drawback is the noise at night. "Great location, but room description is deceiving"
Hotel Pendini is in a great location. About 2 min from the Duomo, and a ten minute walk from the train station. Very safe neighborhood. The lobby is clean, and the breakfast was pretty good. Our room was much different from hotel.com's description. For one, there was no safe in the room, and it did not look out into the plaza. "Hotel Pendini- Great Hotel but don't drive in"
This hotel was a great find for the price. The piazza was right out our window so the location is perfect. Just bring earplugs! The activity in Florence goes on all night. There was an opera singer right out our window, but the earplugs are for the street noise when you finally try to get some sleep. We had a street view which was great, but noisy. […] There was a sitting room, bath, and bedroom for the price, and it included breakfast which you could eat looking out at the city. For the price, this hotel can't be beat. Take a taxi though as parking a car cost E30 per day and the streets of Florence are impossible to navigate, even with a GPS. Lesa meira
"Hotel Bendini - Florence"
Thought the rates were reasonable considering the super location. Really loved sitting by the window at breakfast - beautiful setting! Just felt like we were in the middle of everything. And the room was comfortable, too. Opera singer right outside our window - only a problem if you need to retire early and you want the window open.

An excellent hotel in terms of central location to everything you want to see--walking distance from the train station, the Duomo, the Uffizi, the Central Market . . . everything! Because you are on the Plaza Republica, there is always something going on just outside your door. The hotel is in the top two floors of an historic building that has been […] beautifully kept up. The desk staff was fluent in english and always pleasant and helpful. There was truly FREE internet and wifi--a rarity in Italy--and it was fast. The rooms are simple but comfortable, clean, and beautiful with high ceilings and large windows. The dining area for breakfast was also beautiful and the continental breakfast was the best we had in our two-week trip. There was also a charming sitting area to read. Because we were there in off-season, our rate was very reasonable especially when you consider that it included breakfast and internet. My ONLY two comments that could be seen as negative are: (1) The room's shower enclosure was TINY! I weigh 160lbs, and I could hardly turn around in it. I don't know if this was true of all the rooms. (2) The elevator (which you will need to take to avoid the 124 steps up to the reception desk on the 4th floor) is also TINY--my wife and I and our two suitcases barely fit. That said, these are really the only two detracting things that I have to say about this great hotel. If you are looking for authentic charm and a great central location, this is it! Lesa meira

"Great Hotel in the Center of Everything"
This hotel amazes me. To me, it seems like a 4 star quality hotel when you consider the fabulous decor, the extremely beautiful view out of the windows and the location. 1 block from leather market, 2 blocks from bars and restaurants, sitting ON the piazza with view of duomo. Amazing. And all that for the price of a 2 star? ridiculous. The only advice […] I can give is that if you prefer to have a total quiet night, you'll probably want to request a room that's not on the piazza. The bars and restaurants play loud music into the wee hours and I could see it driving someone crazy. Not me, though! Lastly, do note that the walls are thin. "Its all about the Price"
Location, Location, Location and a great price. You have to say this mantra when you stay here. The shower is so small its hard to fit in. The lighting is dim, the rooms have a slight odor and there is no safe in the room and the safe at the office is on a trust basis. BUT Its a great location, the service is wonderful, there is a bed with no bugs, […] breakfast is included and there is free WiFi. So bring your own shampoo and enjoy the area. The location of Pendini is great, walking distance from the train station and all major sights. Not happy with the hotel itself. Rooms are very outdated, our bathroom smelled and water in the shower would not drain properly. The room was more than adequete, the bathroom at bit odd. Breakfast was wonderful. The location was amazing - we were there on New Years Eve and the piazza near the hotel was such a great place to be. I would definitely stay there again.

Located right on (or off, depending on which room you get) the Piazza de la Reppublica, this hotel is central to everything you'd want to do in Florence, which is a very walkable city. Very clean rooms, excellent breakfast included; very helpful front desk. It was cold outside, but very comfortable in the room and common areas. "Close to all the sights; needs some renovations"
We stayed at Hotel Pendini for just one night when we took a brief overnight trip from Rome to Florence to see the big church there. The hotel is situated on a main square within only a few blocks of the Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio, Uffizi Gallery, Medici Chapels, and the Accademia (where the famous Michaelangelo's David resides). It is also walking distance […] to the main train station. The hotel has been around for at least a century, so they are working with an existing old building. Our room was dated and had kind of grundgy wallpaper, though we had a flat screen TV. The bathroom was small, but clean, though it only had a small lightbulb that hardly illuminated anything. I like a firm bed, so the beds were good for me, though my wife would have liked a softer bed. For the amount we paid it was not bad for one night, but I would recommend a different hotel for a longer stay. Lesa meira
"Nice and different"
Located right on a major piazza the hotel was very close to all the major sites and shopping areas. The entrance is a bit tricky to find and we walked right by it the first time and had to ask where it was. The elevator is a bit cramped for 2 people with luggage but manageable.

Right on a big plaza with several nearby restaurants and within walking distance to many of the best sights. Bathrooms are less than desirable, with the shower literally on top of the toilet. But staff is very nice and helpful. Breakfast was great.

"Pendini Hotel- Florence, Italy- wonderful!"
This was the best hotel I stayed at in my 14 day trip to Italy, It was a great location, near evrything, the staff is absolutely superb! They are very knowledgeable and very friendly. The room was great, very roomy especially for Europe, clean, had a few english stations on the tele. The breakfast buffet was laid out beautifully. Plus had good coffee, […] can completely say this from many of the places we visited and tried at stores. The shower door was a little tricky, but not bad. We loved this hotel, it was located in an amazing square...for the younger crowd you will recognize it from all the clips off of Jersey Shore! You can ride the carousel you see every episode. The best hotel have ever chose excellent room with fantastic view. This is the first time I wrote a review but I am feeling I must write something as I liked the Brel very much. First the room was very big with one double bed , one single bed and a large sofa. The bathroom is good and the shower is excellent. The breakfast buffet is very good and generous. The location is fantastic where you can visit the old city on foot and the dumo is just 5 minutes walk . "Beautiful Hotel"
We loved Hotel Pendini! The hotel is in a great location in a fun Piazza and the view from our window was amazing! The rooms had high ceilings, were very spacious (our most spacious of all the rooms we stayed in in Italy), and decorated very richly. The hotel staff was very accomodating and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and there was so much to choose […] from. My ONLY complaint was that our room was directly overlooking the Piazza, and there was live entertainment every night (even weeknights) until 1 a.m. We could hear it very clearly in our room. It wasnt really a big deal because we were out walking the beautiful streets of Florence and the music did stop at 1. Our stay at Hotel Pendini was great overall and would recommend it to anyone!!! Great location, short walks to most Florence attractions (Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, Pitti Palace, Uffizi, etc.). The main train station (SMN) is also reachable on foot. Located in a large square with plenty of restaurants and shops. Good unlimited breakfast. Friendly staff, spoke good English. Large room, comfortable bed. AC was cold but also noisy and […] woke me up a few times at night. Smoke alarm status LED flashed a bit too brightly at night. It's clear that this was once a very fancy hotel but the current condition is becoming subpar. Lots of chipped paint, wallpaper coming off, etc. Location very good, but difficult to find. Make sure you know how to find it, as it's not very clearly marked. Internet did not work in our room - we had to go to the reception area on another floor in order […] to use it. Friendly staff that speaks English. Thin walls. We were in a room that connected to another one and we could hear literally everything they said and every time someone shut a door. By far one of the top locations in Florence, central to everything, in the Piazza della Republica that is the grandest of them all. The hotel is one of the oldest and most elegant, with beautiful guest rooms and beautiful amenities. Almost all of the guest rooms have renovated bathrooms, the last of which are to be completed soon.

Although the location of the hotel was lovely, the hotel and our room especially looked like something out of the The Shining. The wallpaper in our room as peeling off and it appeared like it had not been refurbished for at least 50 years. We were thrilled with the location of Hotel Pendini when we visited Florence with our children. Overlooking the Piazza Republicca with nice restaurants and places to sip wine while the kids played and enjoyed the ambience was terrific. The rooms were clean, comfortable and air-conditioned. I've traveled to Italy at least seven times. This hotel is absolutely perfect in location, in service, in room cleanliness, and ease of getting to and from the local airport, the SMN train station and the local tourist points of interest. "Pensione Pendini, Florence, Italy"
I have stayed at the Pendini about 20 times, but not since 2000, when I retired and no longer visited Florence every year or two. This time I was traveling with my grandson, age 17, who has an interest in art history. I noticed several changes, all of them positive. To start with, a new elevator brought us up to the reception. Central air conditioning […] extended throughout the hotel, including the public areas. And the breakfasts offered the same excellent food with a greater variety: meats, more cheeses, and fresh fruits. The staff was consistently friendly and helpful, and I was happy to see that a couple of old friends from pre-retirement days were still working there. We had two maintenance issues, both of which were dealt with promptly and satisfactorily. Overall, the Pendini continues to offer an excellent option for a visit to Florence. The rooms and public spaces are comfortable and the breakfasts are fine. The price is reasonable for Florence in the high season. And its location is unbeatable for convenience to sightseeing, dining, and shopping. Lesa meira

For a good basic hotel with an excellent location, we recommend the Pendini Hotel. Right off the Piazza della Republica made it easy to go back to the room to rest during the day and escape the heat. This was a very nice and clean hotel close to everything. The down fall was the staff at the recaption desk. They were very unfriendly and acted like they could care less if we were there or not. This was the top hotel I stayed in while in Italy, the only thing to make it better is to hire people who are friendly and helpful.
Very nice hotel in convenient location at reasonable price. Can be hard to locate as entrance is not well marked. Hotel is located on 4th floor thankfully there was a tiny elevator to get us up. Good European breakfast although busboys bring dishes to dining room used guest hallways. The rattling of the dishes woke us up very early. Rooms were small […] but very adequate.
