We were disappointed in the condition of the hotel. The room appeared to be clean but didn't look like it was because of peeling paint, cracked floor tile, ugly caulking done around the top of the tub. Paint had peeled loose from above the exterior door extending out over the window and it appeared there was a water leak. The faucets were reversed on […] the shower and the sink. Sometimes during the shower the water would switch from hot to cold and took constant adjusting. Neither of the lights over the bed would work and the switch to on one side was completely was broken off. Lighting overall was poor. The building was badly in need of painting and repair. There were dirty stains from leaks on the concrete and trashy situations where grass and shrubs ought to be. An iron support post was nearly rusted in half. When we first saw the condition of motel and it was still early enough to find other lodging we called and ask to cancel and a person in the Phillipines told us it was too late that we had to cancel by 4:00 the previous day to avoid the penalty of a full night's cost. Also when we talked to the clerk on duty about cancelling he said he couldn't do it. We had to call the same number. We took pictures of the situation described about and will make them available. We were disappointed in the breakfast especially having to eat right next to the check out counter. There were only three tables with two chairs each. The people on duty were pleasant. Lesa meira

The room was fairly clean. The shower floor was soft(should have been firm). Counter top was loose. Drawers missing from night stand. It is easy to find, but overall the hotel needs to be remodeled. The rate however should set your expectations

It wasnt a very cheap hotel. there were stains on the towels and sheets and blankets. the tub was gross under the mat. and none of the plugs or switchs.fully covered the holes behind the bed there was all kinds if white dust.

The external appearance made us wary about staying, The room was clean and comfortable despite its need for updating. Breakfast was OK and the owner was friendly.

My wife and I stayed here after making last-minute reservations at the start of a long trip to the Midwest. We picked this motel because it offered a reasonable price at what seemed on the map to be a convenient location. Our expectations proved correct on both counts. We stopped at this location while heading to Ohio...perfect sleep after long day of drive. Room was spotlessly clean. Bed was very comfortable. I slept great. Room had microwave and fridge at no extra charge.

We were very satisfied with our stay. I think it is an older hotel but the price was very reasonable. The beds were comfortable. The room was clean. You could walk to restaurants. The hotel is right in the middle of Galax which is about 10 miles off interstate 77. There were interesting shops and restaurants just a little down the street. Galax is a […] delightful town. We stayed a different place each night during our trip .This is only hotel we stayed twice .Nice clean and comfort .Old motel but room is upgraded.Outside need to be upragred .But we are happy and enjoyed .if traveling on Blueridge Parkway very easy to get this place just right on Main Road (VA-89).Not expensive, I recommend this place .

When we first walked into the room it smelled like disinfectant (worse than any hospital I have ever been in) Had to open the door and turn on the fan to be able to handle the first hour of being in the room. Then we noticed the stains all over the carpets, cigarette burns on the sink, tub and the comforters (this was a non-smoking room) huge water […] bubble on the ceiling right over one of the beds and HUGE stains on the mattress and sheets that looked like blood stains, looked like a crime seen only thing missing was the crime scene tape!!!! Food at the Galax Smokehouse is in walking distance. No cell phone coverage on ATT but free WiFi with good bandwidth. Charming piece of Americana. Near the Blue Ridge Parkway. Music on Friday nights is nearby.

We needed a place to crash on the way to Myrtle Beach. This place is pretty far from 77 and while the room wasn't bad, it was not super clean either. No evidence of bugs, A/C was only so, so, but for the money I spent no real complaints!

Hotel is in a good location, right near downtown and a delicious BBQ restaurant. Desk Manager was very helpful in suggesting local points of interest (including that wonderful restaurant) and even came up to my room to fix the problems I was having connecting to the Internet.

It's not the greatest hotel ever, but it wasn't expected to be. We only stayed for one night, but were very impressed with the cleanliness and upkeep of the rooms. The hotel sits right in town and is within walking distance of some great spots and the park. Also, the staff was very kind and treated us very nicely. If you want a clean inexpensive place to stay this is the place. It is right in "downtown" Galax, so you can walk to all the shops and places of interest. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I have stayed here numerous times over the years and always been more than satisfied. The owners are constantly upgrading the hotel. Highly recommended.

There was no parking on the side of the hotel where our room was. We had to park on the other side and walk around. The clerk acted like I asked for his first born when I asked for a couple of extra pillows. Both of these issues are important to me as my husband is disabled. When we turned the heat on in the room it made such a racket we could not hear […] each other talk. The shower was just horrid. The spray was so fine and hard that it stung, and would not stay warm because the force of the water caused a "wind" with it. We were in a non-smoking room, yet, it smelled like smoke and there were cigarette burn holes in the bedding. Not impressed at all. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Lesa meira

This hotel is showing signs of wear - lots of signs of wear. thin towels, the smell of a 40 year old hotel. terrible wifi. but it was safe and close to downtown and not expensive.

Red stained towels, no wifi, no cable, dirty room, stains on carpet and chairs, bed spread smelled like pee. I grew up in a Ghetto and even I found this place horrible. Oh and this place is in the ghetto, fyi.

It's an older motel but the rooms very clean! That's more important to me than the decor. The owners were very nice. They are installing new carpet in the rooms and we were able to get one of those rooms. I enjoyed my stay there and will stay there again when I go back to bike the New River Trail!

It's an older motel so if you need something new and fancy you won't find it here. But it was cheap, bed was comfortable, shower was fine, heater worked, and it was close to the New River Bike/Rail trail where we wanted to ride.

Room had broken bed and room smelled badly. Was able to switch room but second room was without advertised items--fridge and microwave. Although the room was clean, the bed was stiff and uncomfortable.

For the cost I received exactly what was expected. Owners were courteous and spoke English. The room was booked for 4 persons and only three towels were available. Location was not where I was lead to believe. Had to travel 10 miles further and phone hotel three times to locate.

Beds were comfortable, staff was nice. There is a police station next to it but you have to park on the back side of hotel only. The van beside us had their back window busted out overnight. The office was facing it too. At 3am, a drunk man from the apartments beside the hotel was beating on our door, yelling and cussing trying to get in it. We called […] the front desk and they said others had the same problem. Hotel wasnt bad for the price on race weekend but the neighborhood wasnt the best. This hotel was not a luxury resort. However, it is perfectly located if you are interested in a quiet setting, access to the New River Trail, and convenience. The room was clean; the staff was friendly. The cable TV had plenty of channels. The microwave worked. The refrigerator in the room was cold.
