This place is totally bare bones, but if you just need to stop off for a night or two, it's a solid choice. Small room, no shampoo, no coffee, ... but, it was in a great part of town, my room was really quiet because it faced into a courtyard, and it was clean and safe.

very easy to find from the Amsterdam Centraal train station. It is about a 5 minute walk. Also near the hotel is a great shopping area (touristy). It was about a 10-15 minute walk to the Anne Frank house. Breakfast was good. the room was small (as expected). Also, taking a shower will wet the entire bathroom floor.

Location was excellent, staff friendly and helpful, breakfast tasty. our room was clean, but the sink was falling from the wall, looks like it has been sat on and needed support. Washroom was roomy, shower and a full bath..the downside, our room was beside an elevator and noisy at night, we also could not adjust the heat, it could not be lowered,so […] we turned it off...we were on street level so had the window open for air at night, actually there was less noise from the street than the elevator. The room was freezing cold when I got the hotel and the huge window had such big gaps that I had a constant breeze in the room. Room...well, if u can call that closet a room. Breakfast was on a OK level and there was hot water in the shower. But seriously a *** hotel?!?! Not even close. Never staying there again that's for sure.

On arrival I was presented with a bill Hotel Tax| although I had been assured by Hotels.com that I had paid my booking in full. I had stayed at this hotel several times a decade ago. The room was tiny as in unbearably so. The rooms have been halved in size and certainly were not representative of £50 + a night. The Avenue is always my hotel of choice whenever I go to Amsterdam. I have been staying there regularly for a good number of years, visiting at least 4 times a year. The location is very convenient, few minutes from Centraal Station. But this is not suitable for longer stay (3days or more) as they barely change the breakfast menu, plus very bad wifi connection.

Close to Centraal Station, free wifi throughout the hotel, reasonable breakfast buffet and friendly staff -- have stayed here before and definitely will stay here again. Great home base for a tourist visit, tram stop right outside the door but walkable to all the central sights.

Handily placed for Amsterdam Central train station, only 5 minutes walk away. Hotel was clean enough, if a little dated. Breakfast was served until 10.30am and was typical for a hotel of this price. WiFi was free with a code from reception and worked fine for me.

Have stayed here many times and I have always had a nice stay. Close to Centraal Station and the Dam, can take streetcars everywhere with ease. Have stayed here several times over the years. Can't beat the central location, easy walk to Centraal Station, take the streetcar outside the door to everywhere. Nice breakfast, clean rooms, and free wifi. Good value for money.

I've stayed at this hotel many times because of how close it is to the Central Train station, and because they have competitive prices and the best breakfast in town! While the rooms are small, that doesn't matter to me because I only use the rooms for sleeping.

This is not a luxury hotel, but it's clean and cheap and the location is great (a couple of blocks from train station). In addition there's free wifi and a free breakfast that's very good. If you in Amsterdam to enjoy the city not lay around your hotel, this is a perfectly good choice.

Only stayed two nights, room is small but good for a single occupancy. Bathroom is decent, tub, shower, and small sink, with built in hair dryer but no iron, 19 inch CRT TV. Although dual window, one can hear the crowd below (was on 2nd floor). Complementary breakfast is descent, with variety of meat and cereals. Hotel location is very good being approximately 5 min walk from Amsterdam Central Rail Station. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet is amongst the best I have experienced in many years of travelling internationally. I have stayed at this hotel previously and would come back again.

Hotel is in a great location. Small beds pushed together to make queen size didn't like that. Super hot water was nice after a cold day. Disliked needing room key to power room but I guess power saving is a good thing

Very pleasantly surprised by the hotel considering the low price I paid. Excellent location only 5 mins from Centraal Station. Staff were excellent and very attentive. Buy a tram pass it's excellent value, takes you everywhere you could want to go and they're very efficient. Recently visited Amsterdam for a girly weekend and had a fantastic time. Arriving late on the Friday evening the hotel attendant on the front desk made sure we ere happy with our room and provided maps and excursion details. This hotel is located very near to the Central station. Even without knowing anything in Amsterdam we could easily walk to the hotel. Hotel staff was very helpful. The hotel was practical and did the job for us, it's not 5* so don't expect it! It's in a good location close to central station, red light district, all the sights and pubs / bars around the corner. The hotel is located close to the Centraal Train Station but not so close as to be in a seedy neighborhood. It was very convenient to Central Station thus easy access to Schipol. My wife thought it was great there was a quilt shop just down the street. The location is very good, close to shopping, dining etc. The breakfast isn't served until 0700, a little late especially if you have an earlier flight.

The hotel location is fantastic. We only had 24 hours to explore the city and the location made it super easy to see Amsderdam's highlights. It is very close to Central Station. The room itself was a bit small and tired but for us, it was fine. There was a very large selection of foods at breakfast which was great.

Location is great but obviously the downfall is that the area is a little sketchy especially at night. Wifi just doesn't seem to work well at all. Otherwise, if you're looking for a cheaper hotel in Amsterdam that is in very central location, it is still a great place to stay.

I've stayed here before and it was good not great. I like the location and the staff are pleasant. The breakfast is decent, not bad and something can be found for any diet. I would strongly advise to ask for a room NOT facing on to a side street if one is early to bed. It can get a bit loud out there. Nothing to racous but ardent conversationalists […] teem early morning. The internet connection is not great. I think the hotel router is probably poorly located: the signal will cut in and out...not good for Skypers. They would not unplug and re boot it despite being asked several times to do so. The front desk is not on the same router so this was a bit annoying. The over head, halogen, light in my room was not working. It took four phone calls and five hours for someone to come and have a look and she was not unable to change the bulb. The fixture is quite awkward. The bed is comfortable and the shower is good. The hotel is close to the central station, easy to locate. If you arriving early and your room is not ready you may be leery of leaving baggage in the storage room. It is locked, of course, but I did not feel the security was sound enough as a great many guests had access to it. My suggestion is to arrive after 2:00 p.m. and try to arrange a room NOT over looking the side streets. Don't forget to check out the Belgian Fries place, ' Vlaminck' which is five minutes walk away....close by the American book store and the busy shopping street. Great Fries!!!!!! Lesa meira

Do not have BBC 1 channels as most other hotels do in Amsterdam. Only BBC 2 and BBC three. My single room had a door which was partly bolted (Though not fully secure), but had been converted. This now acted as a main window only. It appears that if the bolts where open the door could be opened and one could fall to street level.
