All very clean, the breakfast varied and good and the staff very helpful day and night. The location was the compromise I aimed for, between the location of my meetings and the city centre, with more or less half-an-hour's walk either way.

You could easily walk to the Spanish steps (25 minutes), colleseum (10 minutes) and other sights. The lady in the breakfast room is outstanding. The double rooms are very small but that is to be expected in the center of Rome. If you are lucky and get a 3 bed room for 2 people, then it is very spacious. Francesco will bend over backwards to make your stay a good one and so will the rest of the staff. Breakfast iis very good and plenty of it and the lady that serves is a angel on earth. Restaurants and cafes are very expensive in the neighborhood but either a 8 euro taxi ride or the metro to a neighborhood called Trastivera will get you to where the Romans eat, drink and play. The food is excellent and you can easilly get a meal for two with a bottle of wine for about 21 euros Ristorante Ivo is great, get there early as there is a line to get in but well worhj it. There is a large cheap supermasrket in the square in the basement on the way to Termini. The smaller markets are 3-4 times more expensive for water and other stuff is also much cheaper then at the various mini markets.. All in all we were very pleased with the Hotel Amalfi and will stay there again.

Regardless, the hotel receptionist went out of his way to accommodate us and had a room prepared for us as a priority and even had us upgraded to a superior accommodation to the one we had paid for. Excellent service.

"Easy and Convenient"
We booked this place at the last minute, because we were arriving in Rome a day earlier than expected, and our other hotel was unavailable. The hotel was an easy walk from Termini Station, and reception was friendly and polite. The room was very clean - our only problem was that the shower door leaked and flooded the bathroom. The Termini area is a bit of a walk from a lot of the major sites in Rome, but it's not terrible, and there is a metro stop very near the hotel that stops at the Colosseum. I am not one to write reviews, but I felt this had to be said to all those looking for hotels in Rome. The pictures looked nice......don't let it fool you. Though we knew staying in Europe the rooms would be small this is to be expected, and we also knew that we would over pay....however I have some expectations from a four star hotel and this was not […] it. The beds were terrible, the bedding was terrible and a comforter you would question even touching. The Bathroom was ok, but the shower drain did not drain well, so you had to keep putting the water on and off for it to catch up. We stayed at the hotel for a week in July and our experience was amazing. As most people pointed out great location. Close to subway and train station is about a 10 minutes walk. The room was extremely clean. Good value. There was air conditioning that worked so we were very happen. "Good hotel, safe, secure and close to the Termini"
The hotel is located around the corner from the Termini station in Rome. Considering that you can get a cheap taxi from outside the station all the must see sites are available quickly from here. Also the surrounding area has Rome style restaurants that offer the safe feeling of people eating on the streets late at night. Put simple I have travelled globally, the hotel has a decent tv , free wifi, good bathroom and cheap price for all. "Pretty Good hotel for Europe"
Overall, we were pleased with the hotel. It had a great complimentary breakfast in the morning, and access to wi-fi, which were two of the most important things for us. It was farther away from the main sites, but the metro stop was just a 1 minute walk, and termini station was a 5 minute walk. Good restaurants were just around the corner, and the neighborhood […] seemed safe. The room itself wasn't horrible, but wasn't great. The bed was rock hard, and the carpet was dirty, but the bathroom was nice. Others in our party had rooms with wood floors. "CONVENIENT LOCATION!!!"
We enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The staff were nice and it's a big plus that they can speak English. It was nice to have an all you can eat breakfast. They have contracted an Italian guy to valet, whom you pay cash when you check out. They listed it as 27 Euro a day but that's the minimum. If you brought your typical American vehicle, which is most […] likely an SUV or a minivan, you'll get charge more. The room was very clean, though the hallway smelled like dirty bathroom (don't know why). The rooms are set up with twin beds, which are put together if you request a double bed. The location is great! It's close to most things you want to see in Rome. The main terminal (which is a train and metro stop), is only a few blocks away. There's also a bus stop a block away from the hotel. This bus stop is convenient because there are few bus lines that stops by it. The neighborhood offers a great array of various places to eat. We felt safe walking the alleys with our children. There is also a grocery store a block away, which is great if there are things you have forgotten or need to go to a supermarket for. "it was okay but I would not stay there again"

"Good price, but be careful of the neighborhood"
This isn't a terribly fancy hotel, but it actually exceeded my expectations (relative to what I paid). The bathroom was quite spacious and in good condition, and even the bed was fairly comfortable, though it looked pretty old. My main complaints were that the air conditioning didn't work -- this wasn't a huge issue since I happened to be there on a […] relatively cool night, but I could easily see it being a problem for others who were less fortunate -- and the front desk service was a little abrupt. There was also no wi-fi available, which is something they should remedy. Also: the neighborhood near the train station isn't great at night, so bear that fact in mind if you're coming in late (as I did). At least the streets on the north side of the station (where this hotel is) seem to be better than the ones on the south side (where I first exited the station). We picked the Best Western for its location for our last night in Rome upon returning from a cruise. It's close to Termini Station so we had a choice of metro or shuttle bus to the airport. "A good bargain in Rome"
We stayed here in July 2011. The hotel is convenient to central Rome, The Metro and Stazione Termini. There are lots of restaurants nearby however it can be very noisy at night. The hotel is very close to the central station, just few blocks away. We also had a small grocery store around the corner. Lots of restaurants in the area. "NIGHTMARE"
THE AIR CONDITIONING DID NOT WORK, WE REQUESTED TEA MAKING FACILITIES WHEN THEY FINALLY SHOWED UP,THE FRIDGE DID NOT KEEP THE MILK FROM TURNING. IT WAS STILL IN THE ROOM AFTER THE ROOM WAS CLEANED, THE ATTITUDE OF THE YOUNG LADY AT RECEPTION WAS POOR, IT WAS TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT, AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS PUTTING UP WITH THIS POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE I REQUESTED […] ANOTHER ROOM, THE CUSTOMER SERVICE LADY WAS VERY GOOD SHE SAID SHE WOULD ORGANISE A DISCOUNT. "Loved Roma and will stay here again!!"
This hotel was perfect. We chose this hoping for a clean, decent place that was a value for the money. We got what we wanted and more. We had everything we needed, breakfast, nice room, wonderful staff that spoke english and where extremely helpful and the location was ideal - two blocks from a metro stop and 15 minute walk to Termini station. The room […] was lovely, but small as they tend to be in Europe and the street was noisy - welcome to Rome. I don't think there IS a quite street! This area is very accessable for getting around and is an okay area to be walking in at night. Overall my friend and I (two women) felt very welcome and safe at this hotel and location. There was a very nice restaurant across the street and several in the area. There is a laundromat with internet access just 1 1/2 blocks away as well as several ATMs in the area. "Happy with Villafranca"
The three of us stayed at the Best Western Villafranca for three nights. Pleasant staff at the front desk. The room was comfortable and clean. Unfortunately no WiFi and the breakfast room was a bit small for the number of guests in the hotel. "What a great hotel."
Our room was spacious all things considered, the neighborhood was quiet, close to a subway, and with food and a small grocery store near by. I can't remember how we found this hotel while searching, but I would strongly recommend it to anyone closely budgeting their trip to Rome. The hotel was very clean and the breakfast was great. The breakfast staff was very helpful and the reason, I believe, this hotel has a 4 star rating. The rest of the hotel -- NOT 4 star. I did not think the front desk was helpful and the room was extremely small (the worst I have seen in all my european travels--my family all lives in Europe so travel […] there quite regularly). It was convenient to the trains and the metro, but there was nothing else in that neighborhood. For young travelers (we are a couple in our early 30s) I would not recommend this location. I loved Rome, but would definately pick a different location next time around. You can find just as nice of places in areas that you would much rather be in for similar prices. "Very good hotel"
The Villafranca is really handy for the Metro and the main Termini station, which makes getting to the historical sites really easy. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. "Great hotel for weekend break in Rome"
This is a great place to stay if you are looking for convenience. We arrived very late in Rome and were able to take the train straight to Termini and then walk 8mins or so to the Hotel. The tub doesn't drain and you have to pay 18 euro a day for TV and Internet. The A/C was broken and in spite of several requests, no one fixed it. The pizza place right next door is great and cheap. Almost everything about the hotel was fine.We had stayed there previously and had been happy to return to it,mainly for the location.The room ,this time was about half the size of the one we had last time,but it was mainly ok.There was no bath and the shower cubicle was too small.There was only one socket in the whole room,which had a table lamp plugged […] in.This made it difficult to plug in the kettle,when having tea or coffee.There was a problem with an overhead light which kept on lighting up during the night when we moved in the bed.I told reception about it next morning and the lady said she would get it fixed.However it was the same that night.On the last night I did some switching on and off various lights and that night we got darkness when we wanted it. The staff in reception during the day were pleasant and helpful,but the guy in the evening was grumpy and unfriendly ,as he had been the last time.He would certainly not attract business. Breakfast each morning was good,plenty of variety,juices,cereals,fresh fruit,cheese,cold meat and cooked bacon,sausages and scrambled eggs.These could have been warmer.There was a good selection of beverages. "Outstanding hotel for this price range."
Best hotel experience in this price range in all my travels to Europe. Decent size room, modern accessories, full breakfast buffet including eggs, cereals,cheeses, variety of breads etc.,, air conditioned, 2 elevators, TV and more. Staff very helpful. Ask at the desk for any help you need - how to get to anywhere, where the nearest supermarket (2 minutes). Location […] is 8 minute walk to Termini rail station. A Metro station is about 3 minutes . Bus #492 which goes to most of the main tourist sites is 2 minutes. All in all this was a great value. Particularly nice was the fact that we could easily return to the hotel for a rest in the afternoon before going out for the evening. Very important in the heat of a Rome summer. I picked the Best Western Hotel Villafranca in Rome based on the proximity to the main train station, the chain affiliation, and the price. The hotel is about 4-5 blocks away from the train station and is convenient to most sites. It has a rather small front entrance and if you aren't careful you might miss the small Best Western sign. It helped to […] look on Google Maps to get a preview of the front entrance. Everyone on the hotel staff I dealt with spoke English. The front desk helped me out on a few occasions. The room rate was very reasonable, and it had a working AC unit (very important during my July visit!). The one downside of the room was the shower, it was a small corner stall with 2 overlapping doors with the opening in the corner of the stall. I think some larger people would have a problem trying to use this shower. The breakfast buffet was good, lots of variety with eggs, sausage, bacon, fruit, cereal, breads, coffee, juice, and so on.
