Hotel is under renovation and was not disclosed ,room ok but food reasonable at best,the staff very pleasant however but the resort falls short in almost every other way

It was ok, they were in renovation during the stay, It was annoying. The service and staff were great and excellent, the rooms need to be renovated, especially if this hotel become a Couple resort.

I did a lot of online research for this and many other islands and considered all reviews. I was very glad we picked this hotel. Everyone was very helpful and professional. Even when we were in Bridgetown and didn't know which bus to take we were personally escorted by a local man who expected nothing though I did tip him. He made sure we got on the […] right bus after personally walking with us for 15 minutes. I wanted to go back with kids but hotel is going couples only. Too bad. Can't really complain about the place. The staff were excellent--very, very friendly, the food was great and the location next to the St Lawrence Gap was really handy in terms of nightlife and restaurants etc. The beach was a bit on the windy side and consequently the beach was closed a few times (the waves were too choppy, the undertow too strong). […] Food was good--plenty of choice on offer. Front desk check-in staff was rude. One of the girls mumbled something under her breath when I asked about early check in. I called the day before and asked if I can check in early since my husband and I decided to stay an extra day in Barbados but the resort we were originally at was booked for the extra night, which was no big deal because we are […] the ones who decided at the last minute to stay an extra day. We figured, why not stay at what used to be a "sister" hotel. I was told I can check in early. When I arrived here, the lady then says I can't. Which one is it. Yes or no?? I brushed off the girl who mumbled and just took it as she hates her job. Turns out, everyone who works here hates their job. The bartenders were rude and that kind of annoyed my hubby off because all he did was ask for a beer and the bartender rolled his eyes and grunted as if he was doing a favor...DRINKS ARE INCLUDED IN THE PRICE WE PAID, so take the attitude elsewhere. There was hair in my food, twice, so the chefs clearly hate their job. The lounge chairs by the beach were filthy, couldn't even sit on them. The adults only pool was filled with children while the children's pool was empty...umm hello? Where's the staff who are in charge here? My husband and I regretted staying at this hotel for the price we paid. It was a disappointment. Whoever works with management needs to re-evaluate who they have working here. Such rude employees. I love all of the almond beach resorts. I have been to all of them over the last ten years more than once. It is a shame that both the village and the adults only almond resort had to close. I was fortunate enough to be able to be one of the last people to enjoy the village right before they closed. That was one of my favorite vacations ever and I have […] been all over the world. I just got back from the casuarina and was also fortunate enough to be there when the resort was redoing the website. My daughter will now be on the new website and that is pretty cool. The staff is absolutely the best people in the world. So nice and really good people. The food has always been amazing in Barbados but especially at the almond resorts. I happen to love all the food served. I really hope they keep improving this resort so they will remain open. I wouldn't know where else to stay... I've always chosen almond. Good luck to all. My family and I arrived at the hotel and our room was not ready. Mind u, we arrived at 2:30 pm. We waited 2 hrs with our 8 mths old in the lobby for them to get the room ready along with 9 other families. While waiting, a couple came to the lobby to get a different room because their room had mildew in the ceiling and on their pillow cases. Another […] family went 1 night without AC in their room until they fix the AC. That same family paid for a suite and what they got was 1 king size bed with a cot not even a dinette or a fridge in the supposedly suite. The resort only has 5 rooms with double beds. Furthermore, my friend arrived at 1am at the resort and could not eat because all the restaurants close at 10 pm. Not even a vending machine or room service. The next day, more people arrive for the wedding and they also had 2 wait 2 to 3 hours for their room. By the way, do not count on the kids club. I forgot to let u know that we went there for our friend's wedding and we had to push our tables back in order for the bride and groom to perform their 1st dance. Thats how small the wedding reception area is. Mind u, there were only 90 people at the wedding. There is no entertainment for adults at the resort. Plan to venture out to amuse yourself and bring plenty of money for taxis. At night,the resort is very dark out. As u are walking to and from your room, you cant even see the face of the person walking towards u. We stayed on the beach to make the best of it. Lesa meira

Maid's key did not work 4 consecutive days. We had to be around to let her in for room cleaning or may not have been done. Otherwise not too bad. Not a hotel if you are not adventuresome in your food selections. Not particularly happy with the reservation requirement for suppers but not that much of issue. Staff all friendly and helpful.

This resort was great. The food was excellent. I was actually expecting a lot worse because I knew all-inclusive places don't usually have the greatest. We got to know some of the people quite will considering we were only there for five days. The actual resort was gorgeous too. The beach was right there, and after visiting the other Almond resorts, we liked ours the best. Ours didn't have a huge beach, but it was sufficient and never extremely crowded. The resort was big enough, but not huge and overwhelming. The Almond Beach Club did not have a sand beach, and had a lot of grass around the pools. The Almond Beach Village was gorgeous and had tons of beach space, but it was almost too big. It was very nice walking around and pools popping up everywhere, but I felt like I would get lost. The upside to the other resorts is the areas around them seemed to be nicer. The area around ours was a bit run-down, although we did not venture much off the resort. - 90% of the female staff are THE rudest people on the planet! Overall - GREAT HOLIDAY! We traveled with a group of 11 - including twin 4 year old boys. Staff was great to all of us (treat people the way YOU want to be treated - and things usually work out fine) Food was 5 out 5. I Had 3 requests to guest services (fridge to room etc.) - and all were taken care of within a few hours. Pools, beach and grounds were […] kept very clean. - - OK - - a couple of things that are "EASY FIXES" - to make things even better. The bars need to plan their daily supplies a little better. Ran out of the "premium brands" of liquor sereral times (Canadian Club - Smirnoff vodka). Also some of the mix for blender drinks. - EASY FIX ! - could use more chairs and tables in the main entertainment area - when everyone gathers for a drink before dinner = more people than chairs - EASY FIX ! There is such a great offering of Caribbean music available - during the day - play some as background for the pool and restaurant areas - EASY FIX ! Had a fabulous holiday, the people we met made it for us. Lovely hotel but disappointed in a couple of areas. Staff were great and really friendly. Food was disappointing for a 4 star hotel. The communal toilets, i.e. by the mail pool and by Enids were always disgusting after around lunch time! Need to be cleaned a lot more frequently. The main bar […] always smelt of sewerage. Money for value, this "resort" disappoints. Staff were rude and irritated whenever we had a question or request and seemed to be bothered by the guests, in general. Confirmed with another family that were vacationing there that they were equally disappointed and not what they expected for an all-inclusive luxury resort (which is really the room, food, […] and drink - any other activity and/excursion were additional costs). The shower did not work, so I went to reception and asked to change rooms to a lower floor as I had a young child with me and the block had no lift. So, this is far from the "Sandy Lane" of Barbados, but it's a great hotel for singles, couples and families if there is a good deal going. Booked one of the best rooms had water leaking all over from toilet, the walls and the floor flooded from the leak in ceiling. travel alot would never go back to this resort.

I read the reviews on this hotel and some were very negative. They must have stayed at a different hotel than we did. This is the Caribbean, you can leave your mainland attitude at home. Relax your on vacation and you're in their country, go along with the program. We had a great time.

I returned from the Almond Casaurina yesterday. Overall, my family and I had a good experience, but there were some things that bothered us, and other guests shared our same concrens. 1) I did not have internet access for an entire week. There is no WiFi at the resort and the hard wired connection was not working. In 2011 I think it is unacceptable […] to not have free WiFi at a resort. 2) Prior to arrival I was not informed of the requirement for men to wear 'long trousers' for dinner. I where a suit to work everyday, and when I am on vacation on an island in 90 degree heat I like to wear shorts. Because of this requirement I was only allowed to eat dinner at the buffets and I could not go to some of the finer dining experiences. 3) Customer service skills were lacking in most of the employees. The front desk staff should always greet you with a smile, but I am not sure if I saw any of the young ladies in guest services smile at anyone. The bartenders and the beach staff were the only personable staff. Some of the waitresses were good, but some acted as if I they did not want to do their job. 4) The resort is very well kept and it is very close to the airport. I enjoyed the food even though I could only partake of the buffets. As I walked through St. Lawrence Gap, it did appear that the Almond Casaurina was one of the nicest resorts in this area. My parents are from Barbados, so I will return to the island, but I will probably stay somewhere else. Lesa meira

One big problem is why the pool with the bar says no kids at all and there's little kids jumping in don't like that , everything else was great room nice had a bottle of wine in the room , food was great and drinks, the hotel need more people to work but it was a great stay. beach nice i will go back anytime.

Just back from a great stay at the Almond Casuarina. It's a great value All Inclusive. I think some of the other reviews here are out of date as the rooms we stayed in had everything we required and were extremely comfortable and well appointed. There were no ongoing rennovations. The food was great - one night in Enids (caribbean style restaurant) […] we had the best lamb ever (and we come from a country with some of the best lamb in the world). The breakfast was also good with a huge choice and cook to order omelettes etc. The sea has high waves and it's fun to jump them but it's tough to swim in such rough sea. We really enjoyed the free courtesy bus (with a great driver who acted like a tour guide to the Island) to the Almond Village resort on the West Coast where the sea is flat calm and you can participate in even more watersports as well as having dinner in their restaurants etc (although you need to book some of them in advance). The resort drinks are great too, especially blended cocktails like the Almond Cooler! But even for standard drinks it was Gordons Gin, Smirnoff etc and the local Banks beer. We found the staff friendly and helpful whenever we were looking for advice, taxis booked etc All in all a great stay and we will return! Lesa meira

Read on: First and foremost management along with management staff is very important for the smooth and efficient running of any hotel, and I have to congratulate General manager also assistant manager and the management team for doing just that. Very approachable and understanding […] and above all......Fantastic people. My stay within the the Casuarina is one that will be with me for the rest of my life. The warm welcome when you arrive stays with you throughout your stay. Lush tropical Gardens and beautiful beach underneath a blanket of blue sky and the friendliness of all the restaurant and bar staff, kind and happy people working very hard to make you feel special. The room was efficient and comfortable with en/suite, A/C a must in Barbados. I must admit it is a breath of fresh air going to your room after a day of meltdown knowing your A/C is on for your comfort. The room service is excellent, staff are always making you laugh should you bump in to them. Evening live entertainment is available throughout the hotel bars. The music is excellent from the sounds of the Carribean to mainstream allowing for personal request and involvement. Drinks come in all shapes and sizes Regards the food having had all inclusive in the past the Hotel Almond Casaurina cuisine was outstanding,wholesome,nutricious and above all well presented. We had a lot of fun staying at Almond Casaurina. The only two things to keep in mind is that they do close all the pools at 6pm and have a dress code for the evenings. Our room was beautiful and our time there was a lot of fun!

I had been at the casaurina in march 2010 and loved it so much i returned with my mother, and 2 sons. It was NOTHING like it was in march. Food quality has gone down tremendously. Plates are cold. Everything is repetitive. Sadly, the hotel has gone from a 4 star to a 2 star. Not worth the value unfortunately. Visigted before the renovation and had great time, Having read negative reports prior to trip had some misgiving about returning. Sure there will be unfortunate experiences now and then. The Almond Casaurina is decorated nice, has plenty of space. The beach is beautiful, and is easily post card perfect. Food quality and choice was extremely poor. Onsight restaraunts were closed the majority of the time during our stay. Hotel Staff were not friendly and seemed to be "put out" with every request.

O hotel fica na beira da praia. O mar é maravilhoso (água quente e com ondas não muito fortes). Os melhores quartos são os Ocean View, que estão na melhor ala do hotel. A comida é boa, valendo a pena o custo benefício do all inclusive. Recomendo para quem quer relaxar e ler, ficar literalmente sem fazer nada. Deu tudo certo com a reserva pelo site Hoteis.com. […] O pessoal do hotel não é muito simpático, mas diante da beleza do lugar, não importa muito.
