The staff were wonderful,helpful and friendly. The Childrens club had great staff and activities. The beach was nice and so were the pools. We have travelled to many all inclusives in Mexico, Jamaica and Dominican. We do our research in advace and generally dont get surprised much when we visit the resort. This resort is certainly an excpetion and we were very disappointed. If you are expecting a 2 or 2.5 star resort then you wont be disappointed. However, if your expectation is any higher […] you will have a shock. Resort is dated, rooms are in terrible condition, beech is tiny. Food is good if you like touch of local flavor. They don't spend on entertainment. Feels like they make their regular staff do double duty as entertainers. Staff is nice, we liked food and we made our own fun and enjoyed our stay. Family activities were great. Kids participated in talent show, beach games, and pool games. The beach is beautiful. Water activities included a wonderful sailboat ride, kayaking, glass and bottom boat ride. The staff is so helpful and friendly. We had been to this same resort as recent as 6 months ago and back to 1994 just about 10 times. This was first visit under new ownership/management. It was previously an adult only resort and is now since Nov 1st, 2012 a family resort. This is a hard thing to adjust to for us regulars and I am sure several will never return. HOWEVER.... I will review […] my recent visit. We had a wonderful time, dispite the addition of kids - though the entertainment and feel is much more PG than before, this was a week that there were not many kids as most are in school before Christmas. The property has received many visual improvements including lots of new paint to the common areas, the buildings and the rooms. New bedding and drapery in bright white and new white paint in the rooms a huge PLUS vs. old outdated style. The bar service as usual was great, the STAFF IS FANTASTIC mostly previous employees. LOVE THE STAFF !!!! The food was acceptable, but not as good as previously. This was a slow week only about 35% full as they are repositioning which could have been a slight affect on the food. The Italian restuarant and Japanese were very good. Buffet for lunch and dinner is where we noticed the difference. Not as good, not as much variety. MISS the jerk pork, rice and peas and patties at the beach grill. Transfers back and forth from airport were accetable, though we did wait about 20 mins or more to leave airport and get in route to resort. BEACH IS THE BEST IN JAMAICA ! Lesa meira

The worst part was the food. I don't know what the problem was, but when a meal started, there was a flashmob and they couldn't keep the buffet stocked. Warm water in the shower was a rare commodity. Parking was horrible. We rented a car and had issues getting a parking spot every day even when they were using the front lawn. People were parking and […] blocking others in. Definitely not enough parking. Renovations were cheap, random tiles were used to repair our bathroom and they did not have the same size and color. The whole thing was kinda scammy. They list this hotel as an 'all inclusive' but then the person who checks you in hands you a horribly photocopied list of tours (with hand written corrections) and tells you to "book a tour or you'll feel like you are in prison". A "tour" to the local waterfall is $50 per person. We drove ourselves for probably $2 of gas and paid $20 to get in. Concierge couldn't find us a catholic mass. Light fixtures throughout the grounds are missing everywhere. Music is blasted at the pool so uncomfortably you can't read a book My wife and I were lying under a cabana one night and i heard noise only to flash up cell phone up to find a bat working on a grilled pepper. I'm unsure if the owners couldn't afford computers but everything is done written down by hand. Overall it seems like it might of been an ok venue in it's hay day 20 years ago, but time and the current owners haven't served it well Lesa meira

My husband stayed at this hotel it was great.Staff and everyone was ok, a bit disapointed we did not know that there was a disco there until the last night. The hotel shuttle picked us up which was a plus and explained the different sites to Us along the way which was great. When we arrive they were waiting for Us with a special drink of the day very yummy. Even though the food was good I was looking for more Jamaican dishes they only served Lamb,Curry and Oxtails on certain days and it wasn't at all spicy […] which I didn't like. My wife and I went to Jewel Runaway Bay for our Honeymoon. We really liked how it was an adults only resort! We heard they are thinking of adding a family resort portion, so I would be interested to see what they do with that. The staff was absolutely incredible! They were so kind and so friendly each and every day! Whoopie and Dwayne are two individuals […] you must get to know because whoever pays them needs to give these two a RAISE! They made our trip so enjoyable. The one thing my wife and I wish would have been different was concerning our plunge pool. We liked that the plunge pool was private, however at the same time it was not as private as we would have hoped. I say this because when we would enter our plunge pool we would turn around and could see the balcony of the room above us and the people in the room above us could see us in our plunge pool. So my wife and I wish that they would place a canopy or a covering over top of the plunge pool to make it more private. That was the reason why I got the room was the fact that we thought it would be more private, so that was our one negative experience. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend the Jewel Runaway Bay because they are making exciting renovations to the resort and the administrative staff of the resort is always looking for ways to improve! First day was awful, room was dirty,damp and smelled. the fridge did not even have water in it and I finally got some water at 23:30. The first hotel I have been to without room service. The next day an amazing lady called Stacy sorted me out with an wonderful room, kept intouch throughout my stay, to make sure everything was ok. Then even sent me champagne. […] My housekeeper was a darling. Entertainment was superb and most of the staff were amazing. Beach was nice, clean, but lacked clean loungers and sun shades Restaurants had nice food & great staff. This was our 3rd trip to Breezes Runaway Bay and for the most part it hadn't changed in 4 years. It is a comfortable, not fancy, friendly resort on a nice beach, with great staff and service. Every single staff member seems to enjoy their job and they pay attention to and remember the guests.We thought the food in Martinos, as well as the house wines, […] were vastly improved although the Starlight Grill did change for the worse by heavily dousing stir fry with a sweet, goopy teriyaki sauce. Buffets and the jerk chicken and burgers at the Reggae Cafe are great, although the new ordering system at Reggae leads to some chaos. The major drawback and reason I don't rate this as a 5 is that we didn't have hot water 1/2 of the days of our stay. The first day, we reported it to the front desk and it was responded to very quickly but we were left with no control - just steaming hot water in the shower. After that, back to tepid water, the next day barely tepid, and then it seemed the entire resort had no hot water. It also seems the staff are told to occassionally hide the premium liquor. We were told there was no Absolute - and then a bartender opened a cupboard and we could see it was full of bottles of Absolute! The resort also totally ran out of beer one day. That kind of stuff is really not acceptable. We got a good price for the trip and had an enjoyable vacation but will probably try some place in Negril for our next visit. Lesa meira

Boat ride wasn't available due to windy conditions and then when it could go out, it wasn't running!. Breezes Runaway Bay was an amazing place! It was geared more towards the older crowd and couples, everything was very quiet and relaxing during the day and then a fun bar/music scene at night. The hotel was BEAUTIFUL, everything is close, and the beach is a few steps away from the bar, food, and most of the rooms. There was never a shortage of food […] and drink, both of which were delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly and the entertainment staff made sure we were always included in all the activities they had. The rooms weren't the most luxurious, but if you are out enjoying your vacation, you only need the room to shower and sleep anyway! Overall, I would rate this hotel as 4.5 stars. Our stay at Breezes was amazing. The staff are very accomdating and friendly. The entertainment staff were great and really made the trip very enjoyable. Many different activities to do. Cleaning crew were wonderful! Kept our room up as well as the outside patio area. Everyone was so friendly and so nice! Definatly will stay here again - especially to see "egg boy" and Fitzroy!!! Nice property compared to others in the area. Service was not the best, Jamaican time is very slow so don't expect things to happen on time. Beverage service at the buffet was ridiculous, you would get water midway through your meal or at the end and you better make that one glass last because chances of a refill are slim....and they get upset if you […] try to pour your own glass. We really enjoyed our stay at Breezes Runaway Bay. The food at the buffett and restaurants was really good. Our favorite restaurant was the Starlight Grill...we had the opportunity to enjoy their asian fusion menu. The bakers at the resort are incredible...the breads were always fresh and the desserts were wonderful. But I have to say all the food was […] good...and lots of variety. The only reason I gave the resort a 4 for 'comfort of room' and 'condition of hotel' was the shower temperature was hard to regulate. The water would get extremely hot and other days the water would never be warm. Overall, I felt the resort was a great value for the money. You're not staying at a 5-star hotel...but you are staying at a hotel that has great service, very clean, and beautiful grounds (beach and gardens). Also to add, the pools and jacuzzis are all very clean. They monitor the pools all the time...if a stray leaf falls in the water, they are cleaning it immediately. Almost forgot...the hotel surprised us with a bottle of champagne to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary! Runaway bay was great, we had been to ocho rios on a previous trip and loved it there as well. Runaway bay was closer to the airport and the beach was beautiful with great snorkeling & you can walk up the beach off the resort for a distance. The glass door in my room had a large crack in it. Food selection was not good. NUMEROUS ants & insects in room. Mold in shower. So humid that the "Sweet N Low" in our room (for coffee) was melted together in the packaging & the floor ALWAYS felt wet. Not carpeting. Door connecting the room to another room did NOT lock, they had a dresser pressed up […] against it. The hotel "service" called our room 1 to 2 times daily just to "check up" on us. Everything was great when we arrived at the airport. The bus picked us up from the airport and stopped along the way to let us try some Guinep. At the reception desk a lady gave us fresh cool towel to freshen up. But as soon as we opened our room the musty smell was strong; the baseboard were dusty and the floor was sandy. The walls were thin and we […] could hear EVERYTHING our next door neightbor was doing. Even though we were far back from the main stage, we can hear the band play into the night. Also, you can't borrow a snorkle set unless you go on the boat. Otherwise you have to bring your own if you're just at the beach (wish they had mentioned this sooner). The glass bottom boat ride was ok... didn't see the "sunken" ship. The golf course is average though a bit expensive for the course. The most disappointing part of the stay is when they lost our reservations to both Japanese and Italian restaurant on our last two days of stay -- in this order. We talked to the manager and as we waited for her to check the "reservation book" she penciled in our room number on the book and told us we had reserved the Italian first then the Japanese the next night. (I looked at the book and it didn't have our names at all). Otherwise, the beach was beautiful (and met some nice staff). Food was mediocre. Lesa meira

First off the the employees of the hotel were very friendly and always asked if "your ok". But we booked the lowest price room, just the "garden view" room, which looked like a bathroom turned into a room (no joke) and smelled like "Raid" bug spray. I requested a room change and found that all the rooms in the non upgrade part where the same and smelled […] the same.( the plunge pool non ocean view was the same as the garden view ones would not recommend)( I would STRONGLY recommend the Oceanview Plunge Pool room!!!!!) WE spent more money and upgraded to the ocean front rooms which looked newer and smelled a lot better, I wasn't expecting to spend the extra money but it made the stay a lot better. The Food was ok.the fridge was always stocked with beer and pop/water... We liked breakfast...No seafood.. expect if u wanted to pay for it kinda sad.. drinks were good. The pool to the left by the oceanview rooms was clean and less busy then the rest. The free water sports were great and that including diving also, beach was great in the morning, water was warm and you could even feed the colorful fish, but after ten or so the beach was full of people trying to sell you stuff, even after no they would walk buy again and ask or even swim up to you in the ocean, they cant go on the property though. Hotel was run down in many areas, i.e. room decor was outdated and need of repair, phone was broken. broken closet doors. walls dirty. sheets old and cratchy, didn't fit bed well. old beds. It took 2 days for hotel staff to get me a msg that there was an emergency back home. Food was just ok. Not enough fresh/ripened fruit or fish for a tropical island. […] Lots of bugs! I picked Breezes for my honeymoon spot. It was all inclusive and we have not been to Jamaica before. It took about an hour and a half to get to the hotel. Our drver ( which is included) stopped so we could get drinks. We got to the hotel and we felt right at home. After traveling from Jersey, we were starving. The buffet was open so, we decided to go. […] The food was really good, we loved the fried chicken. There is no bar in the main buffet and no one asked us if we wanted drinks. It took 2 days to figure out that the person who poured our water was the same person that you ask for drinks. they also ran out of Pina colada mix after the second day. Breakfast was awesome too. The plunge pool ( which I strongly suggest you spring for) and the pools were well maintained. My biggest complaint wth the beach is that you can't even walk up to it without having someone try to sell you something it was really frustrating. There were only 1 or 2 guards and 8 or 9 "sales people". There is really not much to do outside of the resort. We found ourselves eating just out of boredom. We did do the zipline and Bobsled excursion the same day we did the dunns river falls so that was fun. We also heard there was a big casino nearby so we decided to go. Don't do it. They lock you in the casino and there are only around 10 quarter machines, the rest are dollar ones that stunk. overall we enjoyed our honeymoon. Thanks Breezes for making it a great honeymoon!!! They told us after we checked in at the breezes room at the airport that it would be 20 minutes til we left 40 mins later we were still waiting then they couldnt figure out everyones luggage and kept loading and unloading. Our 5th trip to Jamaica, this time we took our 18 yr old son and his girlfriend this time. They were treated like adults the whole week. The resort was pretty clean, and had pretty good food. Some bartenders seemed a bit cold, but others were super sweet/fun. The beach was really nice, no rock patch to walk through into the ocean. Only bad part was […] being ACCOSTED (both the adults and the kids) by the locals trying to force their shells/necklaces/mugs and 'Religous Herb'... made us not want to bother going on the beach. By far, the most rude/push locals we'd ever had on a beach resort. But once we got through the morning "No, No, No, Leave us Alone, No Speak English"... the resort is a great value. Lesa meira
