Pros: beautiful resort, amazing service, good food. Cons: at least during our 2 stays, there were not a ton of younger couples, so we felt a little out of place. There are a few here and there, but for the most part it's an older crowd. So to summarize, if you're in that age group (or looking for people in that age group), it's a fantastic time

It was my first visit to a clothes optional resort and actually by 2nd day was not big deal. We booked the Passion Suite and had 24/7 Butler service that would fill up our jacuzzi in our room and bring drinks whenever we asked. I like the concept of the hotel. Most of the staff is excellent. The cost or daily charge is not compensated with service. Internet in the rooms is not good. How much you'll like it here depends on who you are. It's imperative that you not be bothered by naked people, because that's the only "different" aspect of the resort that can't be avoided. You don't have to get naked- it's very laid back and there's no pressure- but most people do end up naked. If nudity isn't a problem for you, then you'll like it […] here. If you're a couple in the Lifestyle this is heaven on earth. If you're just thinking/talking about the Lifestyle this is probably the best introduction on the planet; again, very laid back and no pressure. The staff is extremely responsive and will go out well of their way to accommodate anything you might want or need. The entertainment staff is top-notch, about half the bartenders are outstanding (you'll think you're their best friend) and all of them are pretty good. Aside from a usually lackluster breakfast, the food is excellent. Eat at one of the two specialty restaurants every night if possible. The chefs can accommodate nearly any special diet, just ask. The standard rooms are a little old and not very impressive, but the rooms aren't why you're here. Participate in the theme nights, both men and women- you'll be glad you did. Lesa meira

The theme of the resort and the staff are what make this place memorable. It's been our 3rd visit and we plan on going back as soon as we can. The staff are like family. Simply the best! The only improvement I'd like to see is better quality food. It's not terrible, but a little bland at lunch. Dinner at the 2 restaurants are good.

The service and staff were excellent, probably the best we've ever had. The grounds were well-kept, our room was very clean but somewhat dated and on the small side. Beach beds are a nice touch, beach itself is nicer than neighbouring resorts.

The beach was barely cleaned and the quality of the services was random. The buffet had very limited choices and always the same food. Regarding the customers (couples) it's mainly US and Canada. Do not expect to meet couples who are into sports or exercise regularly. Most of them were overweighted.

This was our second time to visit Desire and the second stay probably topped the first. The staff makes this resort what it is. You are treated like a king and queen from the wait staff in the restaurants, to the bartenders, and Africa taking your drink orders on the beach. We will definitely be booking again soon!

My wife and I enjoyed our first stay at Desire. We wished that there were more food options for late at night, and that the restaurants stayed open about an hour longer. Our first room had ants and a shower drain that wouldn't keep up w/ the shower (causing it to flood the bathroom.) They switched our rooms and the new room was nice, but the a/c ended […] up leaking all over the floor. When we called the front desk they were prompt to get someone out to fix it. After those two minor setbacks (by noon on our second day) we had no further issues. Desire's beach and pool were very nice. We only went to the jacuzzi once, but that was very nice as well. Excellent hotel with a very high level of service, nothing is too much trouble for the very attentive staff. The Resort is about half way between Cancun and Playa del Carmen which usually means about a 30 min taxi ride from the Airport. Decided to go to Desire based on the fact that you can go "nude" on the resort. Not too thrilled on the "couples only" we still wanted to try it. We had so so many problems w our first room...It was tiny, dirty, had fire ants, and a cute little salamander that I'd rather see outside than hang out with in my room. The air conditioning was not working […] but they were insisting it was. After hours of torture, they finally decided to find us a room to move into that they would move us out of the folowing evening. If you believe it, we changed rooms 3 times in 5 days! If that doesn't speak volumes I really dont know what does. The food is mediocre and the pool during the day is quite lame; except that people are walking around and eating completely nude. It was very odd to see the first day, but somehow we got used to it and even joined them by day 3. Most of the people are over 40 with a few in their 20s and 30s and most are average looking. What is cool about this place is you can pretty much have sex upstairs by the jacuzzi on the beds and the playroom by the disco. People definately get into playing dress up with the themes of the evening and most lose a lot of their clothing by the end of the night. But you cants have sex or "play" on the beds by the beach, or the beach because it is prohibited by Mexican law. In conclusion, I will most likely not be returning. Lesa meira

Just got back from a vacation where we spent 2 nights at Desire (10/23 & 10/24). We are pretty open people as-is, but Desire was an awesome experience. For anybody worried about being pressured into anything, I could not see that happening. If anything, I would have welcomed a couple advances for playing with other couples. Best things about the resort: - […] Room was small, but very cute, and we didn't spend time there except for sleeping anyway - The main restaurant and Japanese place were both great. Didn't try Il Piacere - The lobby bar is a great social area, both before and after the disco (and the pizza is perfection at 2am!) - The disco was SO much fun. My girlfriend and I loved dancing the night away - The swinging beach beds are a great alternative to the pool. - The attitudes of all the guests - so much fun to hang out with so many open minded and fun people - The PLAYROOM! Whatever it is about having sex in front of other people, count me in. We were both pretty drunk, and usually that means no big O for my girlfriend, but she was exploding, which lead to a nice O for me soon after. Disappointing things: - Would be nice if the pool area was bigger and could accommodate when the resort is at high occupancy - I was told after my trip on a forum about Desire that you need to get up to reserve your pool chairs starting at 7am, so please do this if you really need to be by the pool. At the risk of sounding like most of the other reviews you will read about Desire: We were very nervous about what to expect, this was our first vacation at a clothing optional resort, but we felt at ease within 1/2 hour of our arrival and the rest of our week long vacation was amazing, We actually had to cancel a reservation we had made for days 6 […] & 7 at another nearby resort (we thought we would need a couple of days to relax/recover after 5 days at Desire) and extend our stay at Desire because we were so impressed with the overall experience. We are not in the lifestyle and NEVER felt any pressure to do anything we weren't comfortable with. The service is excellent, the resort is beautiful and the guests that we met were some of the most friendly, open minded people we have ever met. In our opinion, these are the features that set Desire apart from the other resorts we have stayed at. We won't bore you with the details about the Disco, Play Room, Hot Tub and the Lobby Bar that you've already read about, but they lived up to and went beyond the expectations we had. If you are an open minded couple and are looking for an exotic and sensual vacation experience, put your fears behind you and book your trip at Desire - you won't be disappointed! Lesa meira

Loved our stay there. We had quit going to all inclusive resorts due to poor service but Desire Resort was excellent, really made us feel they were there to serve us no matter if it was the beach, the bar or one of the restaraunts. Beach was wonderful and the palapas definitely the way to go if you want to relax. Our room was not fancy as we booked […] the cheapest we could get but it was always cleaned and we were more than satisfied with the maid service. Our fridge was always stocked and ashtrays were emptied. We ate at the buffet most nights and always found the food to our liking. We did try the japanese themed restaraunt and it was amazing! Some very tasty dishes and a nice change. Our first time at an alternate lifestyle type resort and we chose not to participate in any of the extra activities going on around us. It was obvious that some were interested in meeting us for only one reason but we had no problem talking or socializing with others even though we didn't participate in the lifestyle. Lots of friendly people, especially the staff. Good food, good service, nice beach, fun evenings with lots of entertainment options. Basically all the things that one looks for when searching for a place to go. We have been to every island in the Caribbean and been to Mexico a few times. Nous avons passez un trés bon séjour, nous avons énormément apprécié la liberté vestimentaire, but principal de notre choix. Tous le personnel (accueil, service, animation) est extremement serviable, patient et de bonne humeur, pas de demande de pourboire, pas de vol, confiance totale! Notre chambre n'était pas totalement nettoyée lorsque nous nous […] sommes installés, il restait les serviettes de toilette utilisées, la salle de bain n'avait pas été faite, mais après aucun problème. Seul vrai bémol les chambres du 1er étage du batiment 10 se situent sous le jacuzzi exterieur qui fonctionne de 13H à 3h00 du matin, ça fait énormément de bruit et à cause du décalage horaire nous étions généralement couchés vers 1H00, mais au final nous dormions quand meme, nous n'avons pas demandé à changer. L'hôtel est assez éloigné des autres hotels, la plage est agréable, la mer est bonne pour se baigner, il y a un peu de passage de gens extérieurs. Il y a des animations toutes la journée ainsi qu'en soirée pour ceux qui ont peur de s'ennuyer. Les clients sont majoritairement américains et canadiens. La nourriture dans les 4 restaurants est tout a fait correcte. Pour les excursions, il faut toujours avoir recours à un taxi, au mimnimum pour nous emmener à l'arret de bus, c'est un peu génant car ils sont assez chers. Au global, nous sommes trés satisfaits, dommage qu'il y ai 7h de décalage horaire. Lesa meira
