Vamar Vallarta Marina & Beach Resort – Puerto Vallarta

we stayed at vamar 1/28-2/3. this was our second trip to puerto vallarta and stay at the vamar vallarta. we stayed in 2009 when it was called club embarcadero. let me just say they have shown VAST improvement since our last trip. i cant wait to see what the resort is like next time as we were told only 1/3 of the renovations and revamping have been […] done at this time. for vacationing on a budget this is worth every penny. for the price you get breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner and unlimited beverages. they even had CAPTAIN MORGAN, JOHNNY WALKER, BACARDI, MALIBU, JOSE CUERVO, BEEFEATER, AZUL, and many more "call liquors". for most resorts to have brand name liquor you will pay top dollar. yes the beds are hard but guess what i have yet to stay at any resort that the beds werent hard in mexico. it is a fact, in mexico they have hard beds, so get over it. breakfast by far is the best meal with made to order omelletes, quesadillas, etc. fernando the food/bev manager and tomas the chef try to accomodate all of your needs and wants even if the item you are hungry for is not on the menu, they will make it for you as they want you to be happy. the rest of staff at vamar is fantastico, especially matthew, fransisco, fernando, david, and ramon. we were very pampered by the bartenders and activities coordinators. we will definately be staying there again. I enjoyed my stay @ Vamar Vallarta. The staff were all great and for the most part spoke good english. The food was delicious, especially the oriental night (they called it Caribean night). The only thing I did not like was the 'timeshare' people in the lobby...like everywhere else in Puerto Vallarta they were too pushy. i read the reviews before I […] left and was worried but it was quiet and an overall nice place to stay. We were showed a old and dirty room first, but we refused that and luckily we got nicer one in the 5th floor. Room is clean, spacious with nice little drying room and empty kitchen(no fridge). I have worked in hotels and stayed at plenty for my own personal and business travel. This property is a simple all inclusive hotel the staff are very nice. the hotel has a great pool and the rooms are very clean as well as the rest of the hotel. The staff at the hotel were all extremely friendly and willing to help. The hotel is in an excellent location, right on the marina and near the ocean. Both hotel pools were spacious. This hotel seems to be a bit older. For example, the elevator was often messed up. You can tell the railings on the balconies were old. The tiles seemed older. However, our room was clean. The kitchen appeared very old (and smelled old), but we didn't need to use it so we didn't mind much. The bathroom was okay. The room service (cleaning) often did not leave enough toilet paper and towels, which would be kind of annoying. The food was good. It tasted good and there was a decent amount of variety. It got annoying when flies or other bugs would get near the food, but it wasn't overwhelming. The view of the marina was beautiful. The staff were AMAZING and welcoming. This is a nice hotel in the Marina, if you want to be on the beach, do not stay here, if you want to be near shops, excellent restuarants that are very reasonably priced, this is a great place to stay. There we so many restuarants, El Colequita is a must place to have lunch or dinner, for around $20 U S, Two can dine & the quality is excellent. The […] Fuita Banana also had excellent Fuita's on friday nights. We ended up spliting meals as the portions were large About Mexico, everyone wants you to go to a time share presentation, if you are inclinded you gan get $4,000.00 pesos for a 4 or 5 hour talk, that converts to about $325.00 U S, so it might be worth your time if you want extra spending cash for souveniors. From the Marina you can take a bus for 6.5 pecos (50 cents U S) to Walmart or all the way downdown, greats shops & resturants galore there. You can also take a bus to Bucerious which is about 20 minutes north and has excellent sandy beaches there. You are stil in the bay. You can take a bus also to Saliouto which is on the ocean and only 40 minutes away, lots of surfers there. Both bus rides are less than a couple dollars apice (US) As far as this hotel, Ruben behind thr front desk was EXCELLENT, He made sure our room was set up the way we wanted, that the refrigerator worked. The hotel is situated perfectley on the marina which has great bars and restaurants, the rooms are pretty good and have great views, however for some reason a third of the room is taken up by a kitchen which might be nice if your were not in an all inclusive facility and in anycase there is not so much as a teaspoon or cup supplied. There are three […] bars two by pools which close at 5pm and one in the main lobby which opens at 6pm and seems to close at about 11.30 if they can get away with it, this bar has no real seating (2 bar stools and 4 double chairs on a higher platform) so not much room for a hotel that possibly holds in excess of a 1000 people. The lobby is open to both sides so it can get breezy and there are no non smoking areas in restaurants or bars, which probably explains why most of the all inclusive guests including myself spend most of thier time (and money) in and around the marina. The main restaurant is on the marina and for the most part is out in the open which is ok if the weather is good, the food at best is average and the y are never ready at the times of opening, it is also plagued with wasps around the serving areas. There is an italian restaurant for which you have to book which is quite nice, but you would not want to eat there every night. ther is also a lack of imformation to be had about aspects and itineries of the hotel and none whatsoever in english, I would not bother again, there are no other facilities that I saw or are worth mentioning Lesa meira

Clean facilities and grounds; easy access to the marina shops & restaurants; tollerable and very affordable bus ride #Mexican Massage) to downtown; very nice primary pool area and just a short walk to access beach and beachside […] pool option; reasonable "inclusive" food & meal options; entertaining views of all types of private vessels entering or leaving the marina; pleasant and accommodating staff; limited language barriers; some "Spring Breakers" in mid February keep things a little lively but, various age groups in overall clientel and everyone was pleasant and for the most part respectfull and any celebratory noise never lasted to late into the evening; good location as a starting point to any other adventures you choose to book. This resort was clearly going through a transition. The front staff was helpful but could not overcome the limitations of the infrastructure. The rooms were in need of complete upgrades, not the partial upgrades that had been done. We exchanged rooms three times. Once because we wanted to upgrade to a room with a balcony. We then requested a third room which leaked water from the recessed light in the restroom and there was a tube tv with poor reception in the room. The meals were ok. We opted for the breakfast only and purchased lunch one afternoon. Please avoid this place if you do not want to be harassed by the sales representatives seated in the lobby daily. When I first arrived to the hotel I was given a dirty little dingy room that had a horrible bathroom smell that was through out the whole room. the furnishing were dated and not at all what I saw in the pictures when I booked this hotel. It was to be Valentine's day retreat.. I eventually paid to upgrade to the next level of room to receive what I saw […] in the pictures. Little disappointed in that considering the hotel was almost empty. My package included over night stay with breakfast for 2. The next morning My husband and I went down for breakfast. as he was doing a tour and I wasn't because I am pregnant. I sat with him while he ate.I had a piece of toast and a piece of fruit. I thought I would walk him to his meeting place then come back and enjoy my breakfast. As were leaving we were asked for a coupon for our meal. We didn't have one bc we paid for all inclusive. We went to the front desk to inquire about this coupon problem, we were told not to worry about it. When I came back I walked back to the restaurant and explained that I would like to enjoy my breakfast now as I didn't have the time to before.. I was told I would NOW have to pay for my food. All I wanted was 2 pieces of toast and a slice of fruit. I was rather put out by that considering my husband left a generous tip before he left. When I checked out a couple of hours later they wanted to charge me for the breakfasts that were included. and had to wait for the gentleman to phone his supervisor not impressed Lesa meira

Grounds and pools were great!!!! It has the Marina side with beautiful $$$$$ yachts in basin and the beach side with ocean-front ameneties. Our family had a lovely time at Vamar Vallarta...after our first night, that is. First they gave us a room that was clearly in need of renovations, and located right near the noisy outdoor bar, which was in full swing until 1:00am. However, they were happy to move us to another room further away. This second room was also in need of renos but was slightly […] better than the first. I don't really understand why they played this silly game of giving people the worst rooms first. I had a chance to peek into a renovated room: sooo much nicer! The bedding looked cosy, the fixtures were new and the tv's were large and new. In our room, some of the lights didn't work at all, the tv was this small little box, and the bedding was pathetic. On the good side was the staff. They were so friendly and helpful, they made it worthwhile. Also the food at the buffet was really good. We had a really good time chatting with the staff and practicing our Spanish. The grounds were really nice as well, and we enjoyed walking around the marina as well as over to the beach area. The beach isn't great, but the rest of the beach area is really nice. Good value for sure! Lesa meira

Not bad but not great. This resort was not up to standards of other Mexican all inclusive resorts. The food/ restaurant selection was not great. Only one a la carte and one small buffet. Beach was okay. Nice view. Staff was friendly but did not go above and beyond to please guests.

The hotel room, rated as superior, had bare walls. There were no pictures or mirrors, just plain white walls. The TV was about a 17 inch 1990's tube model, although they did have cable. There were no wash cloths or hand towels, only bath towels. The furniture was very sparse and very cheaply made. There was no telephone in the room. First of, and most important for you to actually get there: most people still know this hotel as the Club Embarcadero Pacifico. Make sure to tell your cab driver both names, and also the fact that it's at the marina, and you'll have no issues. Another quick tip: cross the footbridge to the other side of the road from the airport and grab your taxi there, […] it'll save you 50-100 pesos on cab fare, and you'll find this awesome spot called Tacon de Marlin with the most awesome smoked marlin, best meal of our trip. Now to the actual hotel. This is an all-inclusive, but I suggest you book the european plan on hotels.com instead. We got a deal that included room and breakfast, and the food got pretty boring after a while. You can find so much more delicious, varied foods as you explore PVR. Room was great and always immaculately clean no matter how much we messed it up. Ours overlooked the pool, not a bad sight. Sometimes the poolside music got annoyingly loud in the morning before I was ready to wake up, but oh well. People were extremely friendly and helpful. Bartenders mixed great drinks -- dangerously strong, be warned! =) The resort had a couple of great pools, was smack on a great stretch of beach, and easily accessible to buses if you want to go exploring. We booked this room through Expedia because the price was great and we needed a 1-night stay before going to another resort. When we arrived 2 hours before check-in, the room wasn't ready but they stored our bags and gave us cool drinks. The check-in staff and bellboys were friendly and efficient. The food was just okay. Our room had curtains that you […] couldn't close all the way and I wasn't too crazy about that. The bed was quite firm but the pillows were wonderful! The bathroom was older but clean; however, there was always a smell in there (from the sewer system, I think). This is common in Mexico unless you're in a very new resort. The location is wonderful because you're right at the marina where there are lots of shops, spas, restaurants and places to purchase excursions or fishing trips. While the main grounds are acceptable, the rooms were very disappointing. The website showed lovely pictures and said it was newly renovated. This used to be called the Embarkadero, and still actually is, even though a sign also says the Vamar Vallarta. These rooms were very old, dirty, and in poor condition. We had to stuff a rag down the drain in […] our bathroom floor for fear of what might crawl up it at night. Towels were a constant problem, doors were missing, bedding was very old, screens were hanging off and the handles to open windows were busted off. Our phone did not work and had to be replaced. Our travelling partners had to ask for their room to be changed, it was worse than ours. The one they got was still not up to the standard of our room which is quite alarming. The pool area by the beach was ok, but there were hardly enough loungers to handle the 40 or so of us who were there...to use the two pools. Our cards said towels would be available there, they weren't so we had to go all the way back to the main front desk and retrieve them there. Also, there was a sanitary incident in the main pool and we noted it was not closed to clean and disinfect it, but was dealt with locally. We did not use the pool after this. I would not recommend you use this hotel unless your budget forces you to. We will not be going back there anytime soon. Such a shame to have spent the last three days of our 17 day vacation there. So let me preface this with the fact that we were looking for a cheap hotel for a destination wedding we were attending. Also my wife and I are cheap SOB's in nature so when we booked the room rate was $133/night and it was all inclusive. The hotel grounds were very well maintained, they were always cutting grass or cleaning the pool and pool deck. […] The food was actually not bad, we were wishing for a little more authentic mexican food but it was very Americanized in that regard. We ate here most of the time and everything (for the most part) was palatable. Now for the room....right away we walked in and it smelled like an old musty cabin, and this was one of the "renovated" rooms. A/C didn't work right off the bat so we called the front desk on Thursday night and it was fixed by Saturday morning, nice and speedy. The bed was a little too firm for our liking but other than those things it is exactly what we paid for. We just needed a place to sleep and relax at the night time. We spent the majority of our time at the pool utilizing the swim up bar and eating the buffets. We had a fabulous time! I am a guest service manager for a casino/resort and I was very impressed with the guest service from the staff of the resort. I would definately visit this resort again. There were only 2 things that could have made my stay more enjoyable and that would be a hair dryer in the room, and a mini refridge.

Had a great time, felt really safe in the marina area and no one trying to sell you junk but only a short bus ride downtown you can have all ( buy my junk) people also one morning while picking up shells on the beach saw dolphins about 100 yards off the beach too cool will definitely go back .
