"Right on the river!"
Nice big room, pretty river view. Would rather have had first floor patio vs. second floor balcony since no elevator. Liked windows that opened to fall asleep to the rushing river. Whirlpool tub for two was fun! Wish we had had time to swim in the heated pools or use the hot tubs. So convenient to the park. Food at restaurant was fine plus lodge had […] a convenience store. Nothing else out there but nature. Highest priced room of our one week California travels, but closeness to the park entrance meant a lot (less driving to get there). Lesa meira
Good Experience
"Just right"
This was our first time to Yosemite and without making reservations far in advance in Yosemite itself, this was a good option. Also a good option coming from N. California. The hotel wasn't swanky but the kids loved the indoor pool and everything was comfortable. We liked how close it was to the entry gate.

Perfect location,accomadition was good..no Internet in the rooms above that extra charge to use in the lobby.Still we loved it!

Hotel was clean, convenient with kitchenette and loved the indoor pool/restaurant facilities... not to mention the view! The only thing is NO Wi-Fi other than the lobby (one device at a time) and they charge $9 a night! With no cell other than roaming this was very inconvenient. Otherwise, a great place to stay when exploring Yosemite.

"Really enjoyed our stay with kids!"
The hotel is 2 miles away from the West Entrance but very far from anything else. No gas station or convenience store close by - you have to drive at least an hour for this so make sure your tank is full. There is a small store by the hotel lobby though and their restaurants are opened only on certain time of the day. Each unit is equipped with mini […] ref, microwave and small oven so storing food and re-heating is doable, a plus since we have small kids. After spending roaming around the park where it's snowing and raining all day, the hotel's very warm INDOOR POOL is really a bonus! Kids enjoyed every night's swimming times and they can stay there longer because the pool is really HEATED and the room is very warm as well - a good contrast to the snow outside. The rooms & all it's content may be outdated but they are functional and the room (double-bed) was big enough for a family of four. We just stayed there anyways to sleep, else we're either in the park or the pool. One disappointment though was that their WI-FI DO NOT WORK ON ROOMS, only in the hotel's lobby. Also if you have AT&T as carrier, IT DOES NOT WORK at all in this location, only VERIZON does. Good thing our iPhones are AT&T but iPad is Verizon ;) Lesa meira

"Yosemite View Lodge"
We stayed at the Yosemite View Lodge during our kid's spring break and feel we couldn't have picked a better spot. It is conveniently located to the entrance to the park, beautiful views on the river side, had a pool for the end of the day and quite good restaurant with pizza lounge. If we ever make it back to Yosemite we will definitely stay here […] again! Lesa meira

"Yosemite View Lodge"
Room, service, location - everything was great. Reservationist Erica was fabulous. Only wish there was a spa on site or at least close by fouor a girls spa day. Also, no restaurant from 10AM -5PM. The restaurant closed at 10AM and re-opened at 5PM. Those two things were our only complaint. There were 7 of us ranging in age from 3 to 67. "Yosemite View Lodge - Minutes from entrance"
We originally checked into a room with no view & quickly upgrated to a much nicer room with an amazing view. Everything was nicer, cleaner & bigger. The only thing i was a bit unhappy about was the restaurant, although great service, the menu was very limited yet very expensive.

This Lodge is great. Lot's of room to relax in your room. Also the hot tub was a very nice surprise. We asked for a King, unknowingly getting a Jacuzzi in the process. Our room was very spacious and well appointed. Lounge area, breakfast bar and kitchenette was a great! We would stay here again. Service, location, and comfort was wonderful.

Overall a great experience. The grout on the tile floors should be steam cleaned. They were not very clean. They need to invest in some new towels. There were no washclothes in our room. The towels that were there were threadbare and very rough. The front desk staff were very helpful and let us upgrade our room to a river view room. "Nice hotel close to the park"
Average to good accommodation 10-15 min from the valley. Be aware: No AT&T coverage at the hotel area and no internet in the rooms. The hotel has three restaurants, one ok/ordinary, one bar/informal which serves appetizers and pizzas and one pizza place which is not very family friendly. All in all, a decent place to stay while in Yosemite.

Great location - just a couple of miles to the entrance. Indoor/outdoor pools, really good restaurants, laundry facilities, etc. Low quality bedding, towels, furnishings, etc. But if you can look past that, then it's good - especially for families.

Room was clean though carpet was a little stained. No bugs. Bathroom was large, updated and spotless. Never had an issue with enough hot water or pressure. Mattresses were fairly new, no sags but cheap. Sheets were comfy, pillows wafer thing, comforters circa 1990. Mini kitchen stove, microwave, mini fridge, dishes, pots and pans, silverware) is very […] convenient for saving money on meals. Restaurants on location were handy if not a tad pricey. Room facing the adjacent highway was quiet with door closed. Could hear the kids screaming in the next room but it was tolerable. Heat and a/c worked well. View was pleasant, pools looked well maintained, hot tub was hot. Front desk help was lukewarm. Located 1 mile from park entrance. If you can find a deal on it, I highly recommend this hotel. "Yosemite View Lodge"
Hotel was surprisingly close to Yosemite Park, only had to drive a few minutes to get to the park gate. Did not want to pay high rates for a hotel in the park itself, and did not want to do the LONG road out of the park to stay in the neighboring city. Location was perfect. Was impressed with the size of the hotel, the fact it had a pool and hot tub […] in each wing (did not have time to use it though). Main issue was the bed itself. It was not as comfortable as it should have been and the springs creaked with every movement. The pillows were very thin and felt worn out. Minor nitpicks on the room itself would include that their CFLs were of different white balance in the bathroom (some were the yellow, while another was the VERY white almost blue). Felt out of place as the hotel itself seemed like it was very well maintained otherwise. The room had a fridge set so cold that it froze the milk by the second night but made for the best cold beers ever after a long day hiking. Not going to call this a negative. Cold beer > frozen milk. They had pay internet in the lobby. Pay $$ per 24 hour period, 1 user access at a time (I found this out the hard way as both my roommate and I had laptops. However speed was decent (T1 or so) and served its purpose of saving my behind from an angry client at work who did not understand the meaning of vacation. However, I would gladly stay their again as the minor nitpicks of the bed and lights were minor. Overall it was an impressive place to stay and will plan to stay there again in the future. Lesa meira
"Great for Yosemite visit"
This hotel is right outside the gates of the park, so perfect for visiting Yosemite. If you have a room that faces outward, you have gorgeous views of the valley and river. Rooms are spacious, with mini kitchen and balconies, but beds are hard. Service and food is OK, but not great.

"First time in Yosemite!"
The hotel is in an awesome location, just 2 miles outside of the park entrance! Super convienent! The room was nice (average) and the kitchenette in the room was so great to cook! It had all the necessities! The internet price was great, not sure if I would pay the full rate based on the older condition of the hotel but would stay there again!

Here's the best advice I can give; buy gas in Mariposa. Hotel was edequate, but slightly used, at least our room was. Less than 5 minutes you're in the park. I'd go there again if there was a good internet rate.

"Convenient location near Yosemite National Park"
This is just outside the El Portal entrance to Yosemite. It is much more convenient for visiting Yosemite Valley than the Tenaya Lodge which is near the southern entrance to the park and about 1 hour from the valley compared with this hotel which is 1/2 hour drive from the valley. The Tenaya Lodge is a much nicer facility but this is nice for the price […] and has a mini kitchen which is really convenient. I would not hesitate to stay here again in the future. Lesa meira
"Yosemite View Lodge - Wonderful"
We had a fabulous room, with an awesome view overlooking Merced River. Only 15 minutes to Yosemite Valley. Kitchen in room was great, I love to cook so we didn’t try the restaurants, but there are several restaurants at the hotel, or nearby. We couldn’t have been more pleased with our room.
"Great alternate to staying 'in' park"
I was happily surprised when I arrived at this hotel. First and probably the most Important is the convenience to the center of Yosemite park. It was a simple 20 minute drive, 10 miles to half dome. This was key given the long distance of other hotels other than the village. The staff was friendly and check in was quick. "Fair at best - not a lot of other choices around"
First the hotel put us in a room with 2 queen beds, when we reserved a king. Then they "upgraded" us to a river-view room, but, the fireplace kept shutting itself off, the TV only worked when it wanted to (that kept shutting itself off too), the coffee maker was missing and the ceiling light over the jaccuzzi tub flickered like a lightening bolt, until […] it finally died! The help acted like they were doing us a favor taking us in! Since there aren't many other hotels in the area, there aren't too many choices, but, I wouldn't be in a hurry to return here! Lesa meira

Good points. Convenient location for park and Badger Pass Ski. Economical. Dogs allowed. Rooms were fine, beds were average comfort. River is nice but in our four night stay we were always gone anyway. Kitchenette is good and a must. Here's where we take points off. The restarant is bad. Not unhealthy but, aside from the salad bar you prepare yourself. […] The cook can't cook. The prices average about $20.00 a plate and even in this location can't be justified. Go to one meal at the Awahanee, buy what little food there is at Yosemite Village or better yet, fully stock up in Merced or other larger town. Sorry to say but for the price per night.........the rooms are old.....the bed sheets are worn out......the rooms are NOT! exceptable.....they need to start spending some of that profit updating the rooms and give people what they pay for...very disappointed.

"Would recommend but with reservations"
We have stayed at the Yosemite View Lodge numerous times, but will think twice next time. And we would now recommend this hotel but with reservations. The hotel is in a great location and when the price is right it is a great deal. But this trip they put us in a room above the office on the highway side. It was literally 40 feet from the highway with […] no sound wall, etc. Once the cars start heading in to work at Yosemite at about 6am forget about sleeping. Throw in our neighbors arriving at all times of the night without consideration for others and you get the idea. Tough to sleep after exhausting days of skiing, etc. Lesa meira

As advertised. Opened door to balcony with the beautiful Merced River flowing right outside. You do hear the river at night, which for me was great. Enjoyed the sound. However, if you are a light sleeper and prefer not to hear the river, do not choose River View. There are other nice rooms available. Close to Yosemite. Short drive up the road to the […] park. In January, there are not a lot of places in Yosemite National Park to stay in comfort. This hotel is just outside the Merced River Entrance and within half an hour you are at Curry Village parking. There you can leave your car and use the shuttle bus. Ignore the bad reviews, I do recomend this establishment.

Nicely located just outside of the front entrance of yosemite. The hotel was mediocre. Bedding had a strange odor. Jacuzzi spa wasn't fully cleaned as it had hair from previous guests. The air conditioning unit kept on making a clicking sound throughout the night and we had to call the front desk twice to adjust the blurry television channels. "Wonderful Yosemite"
This hotel is minutes away from the entrance to Yosemite. After long day of driving and hiking to come to this hotel with it's nice indoor pool and spa hit the spot. Then we could be back in the park the next day within minutes! We brought our own food so the kitchenette was perfect. too!
"They do well at the basics"
Stayed here during winter at the 'sub-century dollar' lowest rate. Got a very large room with two queen beds, large bathroom, kitchenette and TV. Everything was pretty standard quality, but there was nothing that was broken down either. The lights are all fluorescent bulbs, which although eco-friendly, did not provide very sufficient light in the room. […] There was an indoor pool in my building, but you had to walk outdoors to get to it, so not so great to do that in a towel when it was 28 degrees out! There is no available wi-fi service anywhere except the side room of the main lobby, where they use a provider who charges $9 for 24 hours. Cell phone service is on the Verizon extended network (still no data service on smartphones), and who knows about AT&T (likely worse if at all). The restaurant, The River, is decent yet somewhat expensive fare, since there's no other game in town. They serve breakfast and dinner, and there's also a pizza place next door. Still, this was a very good place to stay, just two miles outside the Arch Rock entrance of Yosemite Valley. It is relatively new and clean. Lesa meira

"Better than in the park"
Wish we had skipped staying in the park and stayed only at this motel. It is modern, clean, spacious. The diningroom has a very nice ambiance and the food was excellent and a normal price. It is right outside the park, but it only takes ten minutes to be in the middle of Yosemite Valley.

The biggest plus is the location. There is a decent convenience store on site for basic needs.
