When planning a trip Venice we were advised not to stay in or very close to Venice. So we decided on this hotel only 30 min drive to Venice. And we hit the jackpot. This hotel is royalty. The garden surrounding the hotel is HUGE and very romantic. The hotel is like nothing else. It’s more like a mansion. The room was very big, more like a suite. I could not believe the elegance for this price. The whole time we stayed there I was expecting someone to slap me in the face and charge me three times more. We are still amazed by value for our money. It’s like something from the TV show bachelor. Highly recommended.

Ten minutes by waterbus from Piazza San Marco, the quiet residential island of Giudecca, is the place to escape the crowds. The only monument of note is Palladio’s church Il Redentore, focus of a major festival in late July. The atmosphere is typically Venetian and there are a handful of restaurants.

For anyone travelling to this hotel you need to get the waterbus to the stop called PALANCA GIUDECCA which is waterbus number 2 from the piazza de roma main square. "Close to Venice, but quiet"
Great hotel. Close to the Palanca Vaporetto stop for line 2 and 4. Very easy to get to Venice. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was about as nice as I have seen in Italy. Very clean. Breakfast was good as well.
"Best place to stay in Venice!"
We have stayed on the main island, on the Lido and this time we stayed on the Giudecca at the Domina Home Giudecca hotel and had a marvelous stay. The hotel is a short, easy (just one small bridge) walk from the Palenca vaporetto stop and there are excellent restaurants on the Giudecca if you prefer to stay away from the crowds of tourists. The room […] was spotless and a decent size and the bed very comfortable by hard European standards. The room was almost completely sound proof. The breakfast was generous and the young man and woman at the front desk bend over backwards to help you out. It was a a 20 minute vaporetto ride from Giudecca to the train station. If you want to stay somewhere quiet and relaxing after the hustle and bustle of Venice, this is the place to stay. Lesa meira

Other than the location on Guidecca, the hotel was great. Room, although small, (aren't they all in Europe!), it was clean and modern with a comfortable bed. The daily breakfast was very good with a nice selection.

The hotel staff was helpful to these English speaking guests. The room overlooking the canal was perfect. The breakfast menu was varied and pleasant. We highly recommend this property for other travelers.

Very nice hotel situated away from most of the crowds in Venice. Room was standard quality but nice and clean, staff were very helpful. Water bus stop very close by. Hotel itself not the easiest to find.

Absolutely LOVED this hotel. This was my wife and I first trip to Venice and didn't really know where it would be nice to stay, so I booked this hotel based on comments from previous guests. The location was perfect, away from the buzz of San Marco, but yet just a few minutes from the closest Vaporetto stop for extreme convenience. The hotel was super […] quiet and the rooms were fantastic, super clean and well appointed. The entire staff was a delight to deal with, so willing to help, including when we dropped off our luggage hours before check in time. The included breakfast is great, we fell in love with the chocolate filled croissants!!! "The best hotel and service ever!"
Very good and friendly service, the staff is always there to help you. If it was possible I would have given 10 stars out of only 5 ! The location is on the island in front of San Marco. It gives you the sight and the proximity to San Marco without the tourist mass. In short: a paradise to visit Venice.
"Nice hotel a bit out of the way."
The hotel itself was lovely and the staff very friendly and accommodating. It was well decorated and modern. The minor downside was the bed was a little hard. I didn't have an issue with it but my husband did. The major downside is it's location. Since it's not in the main part of Venice, you can't just leave your hotel and walk to the sights. There […] were a few restaurants on the island itself, but plan on adding 20 min at least to your travel time one way every time you want to reach the main part of Venice. The upside of this was the area around the hotel was very quiet and we actually really enjoyed riding the Vaporetti around Venice. It was a trade off-quiet but off the beaten path. I think it comes down to preference whether you would like this type of situation or not. If you are interested, you get there by taking the #2 or #42 Vaporetti to the Palanca stop. When facing inland turn left, go over the bridge, then turn right down the first alley you see. It's all the way down on your right. Personally, we would be happy to stay there again. Lesa meira
"Quaint Little Hotel"
Highly recommend this hotel, which is located away from the hustle and bustle of Venice in a cute little neighborhood. Close to the water bus stop. The front desk receptionist was super friendly and helpful with directions. Decent breakfast buffet is included with the room price. Loved it.

This hotel is located on one of smaller Islands in Venice. This is an advantage in that it is quieter, although you have a little further to go to get to the main sights. "Searching for tranquility..."
Located at La Giudecca, this hotel is located in a very tranquil place. Very clean and the staffs were very helpful. Internet connection is free with cables but the WiFi was only available in the lobby. From S.Lucia Station or San Marco , vaporetto (water bus) "2" and during night "N" had no problem accessing to this island. Grocery store was very close […] to the hotel as well. "Perfect location away from San Marco"
If you're looking for a hotel on Guidecca and away from the tourism of San Marco, this is a great place. The breakfast was great and the location to the Vaporetto (water taxi) is ideal. Friendly staff, a good breakfast, and comfortable rooms. I would recommend it to anyone.

This is a lovely little hotel just 5 mins by vaporetto across from the hhustle and bustle of San Marcco area. The rooms are clean and comfortable and of a good size. Thhe staff are very helpful and the breakfast is fresh and with lots of options to choose from. It is very quuiet as well which is a bonus. @ minutes from the hotel are some good restaurants […] & cafes and also a take away pizza place with great pizza. Lesa meira
"Nice hotel located away from the craziness."
The hotel was as other travelers had described. It is located on a smaller island away from the hustle and bustle just across from the main island, and is a 3- to 5-minute water bus ride away (although you may have to wait up to 12 minutes for a water bus to arrive). There are two water bus lines you can take, 41/42 and 2. It really is a hidden gem […] on this island -- good value. A few comments: - PRINT out directions to this hotel before you leave. After you get off at the Palanca water bus stop, you head left along the boardwalk, go over the first water bridge, and turn right into the first street (which looks like a very narrow alley). Then you walk for about 2- or 3-minutes to the very end where it comes to an opening and the hotel is at the very end on your right. There should be a sign. - The buffet breakfast is very light i.e. a small bowl of cereal, yogurt, and a croisssant. - Only the front desk staff speak English well. That said, that should be enough. - There wasn't any obvious Internet access available here. In the lobby, there was a pay-for-use WiFi network, but in the room I wasn't able to access either WiFi or the plug-in ethernet connection. - The washroom is very small so may not be appropriate if you're a larger person, but otherwise it's fine and clean. - The bed was on the firmer side of European standards. - Overall, a very plesant experience. Quiet, clean, and nicely located away from the craziness of the main island. And the bedroom was a decent size too by European standards. Lesa meira
"Great hotel but don't pay extra for the view"
This hotel is beautiful and not hard to get to once you get to guidecca. Just take the boat to guidecca and go left. You will go over a bridge and the street is shortly after. The hotel is at the other end. It is in a beautiful location with a courtyard. Also buy your boat pass before you go to guidecca because you cannot buy it there (we bought a one […] way the first ride). We stayed for 4 nights and really enjoyed it. Our room was pretty small (room 205), but I think most of the other rooms were larger. It was beautifully updated and decorated and had wood beams on the ceiling. My advice is definitely stay here, but don't bother paying for the upgraded canal view room, as the window is so small it is a waste. It is a truly beautiful hotel on a nice quiet island and if we went back to venice we would absolutely stay here again. Lesa meira
"A Clean, comfortable and convenient hotel"
I was happy with the specious, clean room, and the location, which was a bit remote, yet still within a short distance from all the main attractions. The staff was friendly, however, they did not have the required concierge informations regarding location of theaters, and concert halls. When we got lost looking for a location of an opera performance, […] and called the hotel for direction & information, the receptionist answered "I don't know" and "I cant help you".... "Domina Home Giudecca - real Venetian Neighborhood"
Although it is not right in the city center, that seemed to be a blessing. It was less busy and we were able to get a real flavor for real Venetian life. Getting from the hotel to the city center was never a problem with all of the water buses and stops close to the hotel. The view from the Giudecca side, is a great way to see the city center from afar, […] while sipping on an espresso or "Spritz" (local drink). The hotel itself if fantastic. The staff, space, breakfast, rooms... all very top shelf. The beds were a bit firm but after a long day out it never seemed to matter. Lesa meira

This is a great little hotel, very convenient for Venice and yet away from all the crowds. Very easy access to Venice and all the sights. Our only complaint is about the coffee on offer at breakfast. It is from an automated coffee dispenser and was dreadful. We were told we could order coffee from reception which was much better but were not told that […] we had to pay extra for it. When checking out we were charged but when we told them we were not informed about the charge they dropped it. This is the one fault I have have about the hotel. It's not too much to expect from a hotel in Italy. Come on Domina House and sort out the coffee! Great little pizzeria beside the Redentore Church. Can highly reccommend it and although they don't speak any English they are terrific fun and great value food. What a location overlooking Piazza San Marco and the Canal and great food at great prices. We found all the food on Giudecca very good and it is a lovely relaxing place to sit and have a spritz in the evening watching the cruisers all leaving Venice and the other activity on the canal. "Great hotel, quiet neighborhood"
This hotel was a nice place with friendly personnel who spoke excellent English. The hotel is on Guidecca, an island right across from Venice. View of Venice from the island is nice, but not much shopping or activities to do on Guidecca. Must use waterbus to get around or water taxis and no direct connection to airport from here without watertaxi. We […] took a watertaxi which I recommend, as it takes you right to the hotel which is on a small canal. It is however expensive. Internet did not work for us. There appeared to be a problem with the DNS server. Recommend the hotel, but Lido would be the better island to get better access to everything. Lesa meira
"Great Hotel"
We absoulutely loved this hotel. The service there was wonderful. The staff was extreemly helpful and made our stay better. Being off the main island of Venice isn't really that bad considering a 1 minute boat trip gets you across the Canal to Zattere and a 9 minute boat ride gets you to San Marco Square. The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood, which […] in itself is fun to explore. The hotel could be hard to find but follow these directions. Get off the water bus at Palanca take a left and go over the first bridge and then take your first right down a small (maybe 5 ft wide)street and follow it until you get to another bridge, don't cross that bridge because you are there. The next street is slightly bigger and will also take you to the hotel. The book we had said a Gondola Ride would cost you 80-100 Euro depending on how long you want to ride. Gondola Tip 1: You can talk them down especially if they are slow. We paid 50 euro for a half hour ride. Gondola Tip 2: Don't pick a gondola at one of the busy stations, find one on a smaller canal. That way you will have a more romantic ride, I just doesn't seem romantic to me if you are on a gondola that is next to 5 other gondolas. I truely recomend this hotel if you want to get a quality hotel for not too much money (too much is relative every hotel out there is expensive). Lesa meira
"Nice Hotel, But"
The hotel was very nice and great location. The breakfast buffet was great by European standards. However, the internet and the movie channels didn't work and there were no English TV channels as promised. But definately would recommend.
"Domina is Excellent!"
I have stayed in the Domina in Venice in the past and it was a great experience. It is a very reasonably priced hotel. The rooms are modern and clean and best of all... they have air conditioning! I will definately continue staying at the Domina when I travel to Venice.

"A great hotel"
This was our favorite hotel on our recent Europe trip where we stayed at 6 hotels (4 - 4 stars, 2 - 3 stars, 1 - 5 star). While this was only a 3 star hotel I would largely ignore hotel ratings in Europe. Star ratings seems to be related more on relationships, not quality. Once a hotel is give a star rating it is rarely downgraded.
"Good value in Venice"
This hotel is off the main island but it's just across the Guidecca canal from San Marco, so it's just a short boat ride on Vaporetto (water bus) line 2 from the main square in Venice. The hotel seemed relatively new and in very good condition. The room was spacious (by European hotel standards), clean and well appointed with an LCD TV (a bit small, […] but who wants to watch TV when you are in Venice), mini bar etc. All of the staff members we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, if a little limited in terms of variety. Overall, we found this hotel to be a good location and a great value compared to other options in Venice. The hotel is a little difficult to locate, so I highly recommend following the detailed directions in one of the previous reviews. Lesa meira
"Great location ... if you can find it"
The hotel was great. I enjoyed the fact that it was off the main Venice Island and was away from all the craziness. Room was great, staff were helpful and the breakfast was good. Internet is only available in the lobby though. They need to work on getting wireless for the entire hotel. Directions as of 5/28/09 Take the 2 (82 is not longer in service) […] from the train station or bus station to the Palanca stop. Get off the boat and make a left. Go over the 1st bridge and make a right at the 1st alley after the barber shop (the small alley, not the big 1). Stop and pet the local kitties running around and you should find the door to the hotel at the very end of the street before the next bridge. Overall, great hotel. FYI: If you continue straight after crossing the 1st bridge in my directions you will find a restaurant with a red awning. They have the best caprese we could find. Lesa meira

Siisti ja mukava pikku hotelli Giudeccan saarella. Hyvä aamiainen kauniissa aamiaishuoneessa ja siistit huoneet. Sänky oli kova ja sijainti odotettua huonompi, koska vesibussimatka saarelle kestää pitkään. Pääosin kuitenkin erittäin hyvä hotelli hiljaisella alueella.

ho speso in questo albergo solo poche ore . l'accoglienza è stata ottima sono stato accolto calorosamente e mi è stato comunicato un upgrade di camera accolto con piacere mi sono state fornite tutte le informazioni riguardanti gli extra presenti in camera, mi è stata offerta una cartina della città e l'invito a chiedere consiglio per ristoranti e attrattive […] della zona. La camera si presenta piccola ma luminosa e ben pulita c'è un bollitore con una selezione di tè e caffè in bustina il bagno è pulito e ben fornito (asciugamani puliti shampoo e shower gel ecc...) l'unica cosa che mi ha lasciato perplesso è stato l'asciugacapelli a muro che era rotto e la rottura girata in modo da non essere visibile. forse dovrebbero migliorare i controlli per la manutenzione l'albergo è ancora nuovo ma se non lo mantengono in poco tempo la sua bellezza svanirà . la colazione è stata piacevole il buffet si trova in una serra (non so se vera o finta) molto suggestiva e romantica una signorina mi ha chiesto cosa gradivo come bevanda calda e mi ha servito un ottimo cappuccino. Anche il checkout è stato rapido e ben fatto. l'albergo è silenzioso e carino l'unica pecca non per colpa l'oro è la collocazione sull'isola della giudecca che obbliga a prendere i traghetti, costosissimi, per raggiungere la città Lesa meira

Un emplacement idéal pour visiter Venise, calme, confortable, plein de charme. Personnel serviable et aimable. Malheureusement certaines chambres ont des fenêtres qui donnent sur des murs (à 1mètre!) Insister pour changer...

Hotel très bien situé à 10 minutes en bateu de la place Saint Marco (arret à 2 minutes à pied de l'hotel). Personnel très acceuillant et sympatique. Petit déjeuné très bon. Chambre et salle de bain neuves et bien décorées.

Das Haus liegt ziemlich versteckt, man sollte gleich dem Weg fragen bei der Vaporetto-Station oder ein Taxi nehmen - vom Tonchetto EUR 50,--. Hatte ein Einbettzimmer, klein aber ganz nett und funktionell. Mein erstes Hotel in Venedig mit Blick auf einen Kanal, sonst bekommt man doch meist Innenhofzimmer.

"Angehmes Hotel in Venedig"
Wir waren sehr zufrieden Hotel ist sauber zimmer Schön eingerichtet, die Lage ist ruhig und angenehm. Also alles in allem absolut weiterzuempfehlen!!
"Un hotel tranquille et confortable"
Nous avons passé cinq nuits pendant le carnaval. L'hotel est en retrait du front de canal sur Giudecca. Il est tres tranquille, loin du bruit et de la foule, avec cependant de petis restaus sympas autour, et une station de vaporetto (Palanca) à deux minutes à pied, d'où on est en moins de dix minutes place Saint Marc. Nous n'avons que des compliments […] a faire: personnel disponible et sympathique, ambiance décontractée. La chambre était confortable et propre (peu de lumière naturelle, mais quand on y est pas dans la journée...), le petit déjeuner agréable dans une sorte de fausse serre qui doit être très agréable l'été.
