One King West Hotel & Residence – Toronto

Great location, and nicely appointed rooms, but TV is substandard for a modern hotel.

Flew to Toronto for 5 night stay. Great to have kitchen & laundry in-room. Stayed in the older part of hotel. Extremely comfortable room, bed & work desk. Quiet so slept well. Great location and comfort for business or pleasure travel. All the amenities of a big chain hotel with more personal service.

Good room and hotel service. Parking is ridiculously expensive and the internet service leaves alot to be desired.

Location, location, location! Parked the car on Friday and did not need it till we cam home on Sunday. You are but a few minutes walk to the market, the theatre district, the shopping, and the waterfront. As a runner, there are many routes you can take for a change on scenery and pace. Staff and room were great. Our "go-to" hotel in the GTA.

Shawn at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. 5 star service!

First time but definitely will not be last time

Always amazed the convenience and everyday needs that this hotel offers. Great location. Every very room I've stayed in was beautiful and clean.

This hotel is just great in every way! The only change I would make next time we stay there is to ask for a room higher up - there was rumbling from, I think, the subway on the 7th floor that we did not hear last time (on the 18th floor) It's too bad that the room was stale smelling on arrival but that cleared up once we had the fan running

This is an interesting property...if you were staying longer it would be great. Don't think I've ever stayed in a room with a washer, separate dryer and dishwasher. The view from the room was great...no need to go to the CN tower! Also, had the fortune to sit next to someone at the Leafs game who told us about the history of the hotel as a bank and […] recommended we check out the original vault (under the lobby) and the upstairs where the bank used to be. The downsides....it was very difficult to get to the lobby entrance (in back) during the awful traffic in the area. The bed was sloped towards the middle and quite uncomfortable. They didn't provide any detergents should one wish to use the laundry or dishwasher. Parking was expensive $30/night, and I really think as nothing else was included for guests that the hotel didn't need to charge the extra $9.95/night for WiFi. Lesa meira

I was put in a room that clearly had been a smoking room or someone had smoked in it. When asked to move, the hotel told they had no options due to a sold out hotel. They apologized for the smell but did nothing.

We were very happy with this hotel in general. The location was great especially with the PATH system directly beneath the hotel. We upgraded to a premiere suite but I felt that the bedroom and bathroom were a bit too small. The staff and especially the concierge desk were extremely helpful. I felt that the room could have been cleaned a bit better […] ie; dust behind the door and on the TV stand but this would not put me off recommending the hotel and I would certainly stay there again. Rooms are quite small but comfortable and clean, Staff very polite and helpful. Overnight parking fee was surprisingly steep, kind of hidden charge tacked on once your there, not mentioned in any of the advertising. Awesome View from the room, all in all, for downtown quite nice, but expensive once everything tallied up.

Nice hotel, great location, room was equipped with fridge, washer, dryer, dishwasher and sink. Really spacious room with a great view but you could tell that it was a bit run down. Mattress wasn't great and the towels were rough - unacceptable if you're going to call yourself a 4 star hotel. Also the mouthwash provided in the washroom had a broken seal […] (housekeeping should check that). Carla at the front desk checked me in and she was just 'nice enough'. Not rude or anything but definitely wasn't friendly. Also dealt with another girl at the front desk named Christine and she was much friendlier. Good hotel if you're not looking to spend much money or time at the hotel. Definitely not 4 star though. Lesa meira

A great hotel in every way. I wish they had balconies or an outdoor terrace to sit for the summer time

This was our second at One King West. The mini-suite was perfect for our needs. 1KW is in the middle of everything - theaters, restaurants, etc. You can walk, take a taxi or the street cars to get where you're going easily. Price is modest for city center convenience. Only snafu: took too long to get car from valet parking at Sunday checkout.

The GF and I stayed for three nights in mid december. The hotel is within walking distance of the brewery district as well as countless pubs and restaurants. We asked for a room in the heritage portion of the hotel as recommended in other reviews on hotels.com. It did not dissapoint. The room was spacious, well appointed and very clean. The only negative […] I can think of is the lack of parking at the property. Valet was the only option. Although this is probably common at downtown Toronto properties, a heads up on the website would have been great. A night on the town for New Years 2012 was a last minute decision, and One King West made it a memorable occasion. The hotel itself has a timeless elegance to it, and the service was seamless and professional. The room itself was stunning: bathroom, office space, kitchen, and bedroom. I had a friend from Paris stay with me and I wanted to treat us to a luxurious night on the town. It was perfect to check in, nap, get ready for our evening out on the town and then return for a night cap. The other clients at the hotel were upscale business types, which was nice. Only stayed one night but was very impressed by not only the beauty and cleanliness of the hotel, but also the great location! Within 2 blocks of Union Station, centrally located near Front Street, with easy access to the CN Tower, Rogers Centre etc. There was also access to the subway transit system within steps of the hotel. The valets were courteous, […] and the hotel staff were helpful and polite. Each room comes with a nice kitchenette with plates, toaster, etc. The view was amazing of the city. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotel, especially to those staying for a few days (as the kitchenette helps to save some money). My only negative was the cost of valet parking - $30 plus tip - and your car has be out by noon the next day, which forced us to have to re-park in another lot that was less expensive. Lesa meira

We booked for one night, for New Years Eve. The room was a good size and very clean and comfortable. It also overlooked the water which was a great surprise! We got a later check out time without any trouble or extra fees. The location was perfect, close to the restaurant we were going to for dinner, close to the eaton centre, subway station directly […] outside. All the staff was very friendly as well. I would highly recommend staying at 1 King West. Next time I think I would pay a little extra for the larger room though. Lesa meira

Not exactly a Jr. suite. It was a standard room with a kitchen counter. Only one chair unless you count a desk chair. TV was ancient by today's standards. 24" CRT. Bathroom reeeealy tired. Definitely time for a reno. Have done better on T.O. for less money.

Some renovations are going on but an excellent hotel. Great location and the staff sre very helpfull.

Pros: The hotel staff was friendly, the hotel room was clean and well stocked. The bar downstairs was very elegant and upscale. Excellent location, a 10 minute walk to eatons center. Nice touches like a champagne bucket and available ice, though only on the 17th floor I believe. There was cutlery etc. Good view, but we were also quite high up. Also, layout of the room, which had been described as a suite with visibly separate living areas, what we got was one very large square. Overall, a good experience. I would recommend it to others. We stay here almost every time we're in Toronto. Great rooms, views and service. Even the pillow selection is good! Only thing is sometimes the "freshener" they spray in the room is a bit strong. A little goes a long way! Also it's a bit of a pain right now with the work on the main entrance. But that being said, we love being able to walk underground […] to the shops, the onsite parking (expensive yes but worth it) and the ability to have a little kitchenette for eating in or having leftovers. No complaints about this ideally located hotel - with the exception of the room/hotel size - pictures suggest much bigger lobby and rooms.

For a newer hotel the overall appreance was not clean. A number of normal amenities where not provided. Not worth the price!

Right down town. Easy easy access to a huge underground shopping centre. Beautiful room. Very clean. Lots of security, we felt very safe. One downfall is. ..... We were on vacation, therefore, in jeans and a t shirt and everyone else were in suits and dresses. We felt kind of out of place.

Everything about this hotel was awesome, except that I got NO sleep. Great place. Wonderful service. We were able to check in very early (check in time was 3:00, but they let us check in at 11:00). The doorman was sooo friendly and helpful! The room was clean and had a fridge, microwave, even a dishwasher and washer and dryer. Unfortunately, everytime […] the heater came on, it woke us up. I couldn't find the thermostat and therefore couldn't turn it off. I guess if I knew in advance, I would look harder. Wish I could have rated this hotel better. Lesa meira

Pros: Hotel is in a good location; reasonable sized rooms Cons: hotel is 16 years old has room hadn't yet been refubrished (no flat screen TV, carpets showing a bit of age, etc); Cleansliness was good in general but bathtub had a few long hairs in it from a previous guest.

Nice hotel, but the staff was stuck up and not very helpful. I loved having a washer and dryer in the room but I never got the internet to work and they charge $10 per day for internet. Very convenient to downtown....centrally located.

Very enjoyable stay. The bar in the center of the hotel entrance is very cool. It is a very welcoming and relaxing place.

Just an overnight stay here - little less costly than some of the other 'boutique' type hotels in the city. Hotel staff pleasant, easy check in. Expensive Valet for $30 and pretty much your only parking option on this busy corner. Our room had a little kitchen in it, which I can imagine handy for anyone staying longer than one night. Only turn off was […] the bedding had stains and rips in the sheets. When we were packing up we discovered left over food bits under the bed - kinda gross, but the rest of the room was clean. The air in the room we found to be very dry and stuffy overnight. The bar downstairs is nice and makes fantastic martinis! Nice hotel though next time I would pay the couple bucks extra to go back to the Pantages a nicer stay in comparison we thought. Lesa meira
