Hótelið var mjög fínt og á góðum stað það eina sem hægt væri að setja út á er brakið í gólffjölunum. Annars var þjónusta og aðbúnaður mjög góður.

We really liked the stained glass/dark wood look of the hotel and the lobby did not disappoint- an enormous flower display does wonders! The bar is a little small but has interesting history. Pleasant staff gave me an upgrade to a club double. Though very, very small, the room had everything I needed. Would not be comfortable for very large people, but it suited my needs really well. Very helpful and pleasant staff.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. I have stayed at many hotels in London, and for the price, this was fantastic. It is a really beautiful old hotel, and although the room was a little small, it didn't feel cramped like most London hotels. I would absolutely stay here again, for business or fun.

The single room in the hotel was on the ground floor in the corner - a very small room (had 3 steps to get to the bed!) but it was clean, the bed was comfy. i liked the hotel and area fine, however, the window in my room was broken (literally pulled away from the frame at the top) and it was a bitter cold, very windy night. The wind and noise of the road came right in but I was too tired to ask to be moved. The heating made up the difference for the most part. original room was fine but the wardrobe was badly designed/installed which meant there wasn't enough room to hang shirts or jackets from the hanging rail which was very odd. I raised this with reception who moved me to a larger room with better wardrobe space.

Do not what ever you do stay in any basement rooms unless you want a six am early morning call as they throw the laundry down the steps directly outside your room ....Not sure that was a queen sized bed more like a standard double Basement windows seriously in need of double glazing

Hotel is around the block from the Bayswater tube stop, very convenient. The neighborhood is quiet, near some restaurants and a shopping mall. The lobby is ornate and the rooms are modern. All pictures that I saw online were accurate. The room had just enough to space walk around the comfy queen sized bed, so its small. Like step over your suitcase […] to get into bed, small. There is a wardrobe with some hangers but the wardrobe is about 6 inches deep, so you can't hang up clothes and shut the door. The bed had some hairs in it, mirrors with fingerprints, dirt smudges on the light switches and bathroom door. So it was more dirty than I expected. The shower, which had good water pressure and heat, has no curtain but a 6 inch glass partition and water can splash out easily. The room above us had issues with this and water dripped into our bathroom. It's a no smoking hotel, but our floor and room smelled smoky many of the nights we were there. The room key card also deactivated itself everyday. The wireless internet is only in the lobby. Wired internet is in the room and cord is included. Hair dryer is in the desk drawer. No lock on the pocket door into the bathroom and no deadbolt on the room door. When telling the front desk about the smoke or key issues they were dismissive, saying that just happens sometimes. Friendly and accommodating staff, as I changed rooms upon arrival. The room I got was comfortable and had everything I needed for a good nights sleep. No restaurant to speak of, but great location for central London business. Will return.

Our room was in the basement. Really small as many hotel rooms in London. The shower emanated sewer smell. After asking to change it they told me there were no other rooms of that price category. After opening the windows the smell went away but not my anger.

(1) the room was too small; (2) desk staff did not seem to have the authority to discuss amending the terms of our stay in include breakfast ... we wanted to know how the inclusion of breakfast would increase our daily cost; (3) the bathroom was clean and comfortable ... the water was hot; (4) one night we were awakened by the strong smell of something […] burning (it smelt a little like electrical wiring) ...when I approached the desk, the night staff advised that staff who were on duty earlier had noticed it, gone outside to see (or smell) where the problem was and concluded that the problem lay outside the building. The staff did offer to have our room checked the following day and offered us another room... I believe an adjustment was made to our bill to provide a complementary breakfast - the issue was that we were not provided with a comforting assurance that there was no problem. Lesa meira

everything was so good , clean & the internet access in the lobby is pefect with a printer. I have read about the room being so small , but it was beyond my expectations. you can hardly walk in the room & very limited sapce to put your clothes & luggage

good location 2min walk from Bayswater, rooms were clean, I'm afriad that's the only good thing I can say.Night 1,Nov 28th, our room on the ground floor, had no heating, a huge draft blowing in the window, someone had tried to fix with selotape, unsuccessfully, was so cold couldn't sleep very well under our thin duvet.Night 2, asked for heating/window […] to be fixed, or new room, were given a sheet/blanket which helped somewhat but was still a draft blowing on us, on a very cold night of freezing temps.Morning 3, asked again for new room, was told it would be sorted by the time we came back later that evening.Night 3, was assured it had been fixed, but it wasn't, then told it was too late to get another room,so we were transferred to a sister hotel in Notting Hill, and had to come back the following morning to leave our bags.Night 4, given a nicer room, with heating/no drafty windows, and a bottle of wine/chocolates to apologise, which was a nice touch.Morning 5, woke and electricity gone, tried to shower in dark bathroom but no hot water,no phone,no internet,no hairdryer,no iron.while going down the stairs instead of the lift, came across a breakfast room, full of breakfast, noone had told us about. Checked out amidst many unhappy people with wet hair! Everytime we were at reception there were lots of other people complaining. Pretty, old-world style inside, more modern rooms. Fine for basic needs - not more than one night, creaky floors, noisy neighborhood, hostels around each corner. Had the tiniest room in the world at first, could barely move around the bathroom (shower stall only) and woken up by dishes/noises as right next to the kitchen. Switched rooms to nicer room […] on higher floor with balcony, however extremely noisy throughout the night, uneven bed and each floor board seemed to make more noise than the last. Lovely facade, but felt like a dim, recently deserted night club on entry. Staff uniformly miserable. Public spaces potentially lovely, and my room was really well appointed / decorated (close), but drains, aircon and sink plug didn't work. Everything impossibly cramped, e.g. needed to move table to either sit down, or open wardrobe. WiFi (claimed to […] exist) didn't. This hotel had easy walks to two underground stations and Hyde Park. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby too. The lobby was as lovely as pictured but our room was in the nondescript basement. Upstairs would be nicer but it was clean and fairly quiet in good location.

It's a nice old building, updated tastefully but showing signs of wear and tear in some areas, particulary the skirting boards and tiling. My room was in the middle of the building, which meant that I had no 3G connection, but you do get free wifi. Location is very convenient for central and west London but it's not the most salubrious neighbourhood; […] seemed safe but it's not posh. The Grand Royale was in a nice location. The room was small but it was fine for one night. I personally did not have any problems with the hotel, but as I was waiting to be checked in, I heard two different guests that has to be relocated due to overbooking.

Despite requesting not to be in the basement - and to have a double bed - my reservation was for a twin in the basement! The staff seemed permanently harrassed by other guests who all had something wring with their booking, so there needs to be some kind of change at the top is my guess. The building is amazing however, with superb Edwardian interiors […] and a nice bit of history about the place, being Lily Langtry's home. The rooms, or certainly the few I've stayed in over the last few years all appear to have been laid out and designed to fit the maximum number into the building so everything feels very cramped. So much so that its not actually possible to fullly open the bathroom door. Even only 2-3 years since the last refit, bathroom fittings are a looking a bit ramshackle, suggesting they were trying to achieve the 'boutique look' with budget materials. Breakfast was good - though with the usual 2nd string hotel appalling and vile tasting plastic scrambled eggs. Does it really take that much effort to cook real eggs that are worth eating? Original room 309 had problem with basin waste draining slowly. When we reported this we were asked if this was our first stay which was a strange question. When we said yes we were told it would get dealt with.Would it have been if this was not our first stay.When we returned later that evening the problem had not been resolved. When we went to reception […] we were immediately offered another room and even shown two rooms to choose from, excellent service. The choice of tube stations makes this an excellent location to stay in and is close to Hyde park and even Oxford street can be walked to in about 30 mins. The Location is great, but the rooms are VERYYYY small, and with very narrow door entrance and 3 stairs. But i did not use the room except for sleeping , i didn't care.The Hotel has a very beautiful old days style lobby and reception.

The Grand Royale Hyde Park London represents a perfect hotel for a seasoned traveler. Anyone expecting bespoke customer service and a room the size of an American Holiday Inn should look elsewhere. However, if you are seeking prime location, unique and historical building, modern and clean rooms, with very fair pricing (just under a hundred a night […] for a 'single) and adequately friendly staff - this is the place. The rooms are 'tight' for someone not used to staying in an older/vintage city hotel room (much like NYC or Chicago). The rooms are clean, quiet and safe. I loved the remodeled bathroom (which was quite roomy). Two tube stops (Bayswater and Queensway) are within one block, not to mention the bus lines, and less than 2 blocks to a Barclays Bicycle stand (truly the best way to get around Hyde Park and the rest of London if you are comfortable). I found this hotel to be of a reasonable standard and good value for money. The reception staff were professional and when we reported a problem of water leaking outside our room it was dealt with promptly. The room was a reasonable size although the bathroom a little on the small side!! Still a good location, value and overall I think its a good base […] for a couple of days in London, very handy for the tube and I would stay there again if visiting London under my own steam. This hotel is tituated just off of Hyde Park and close to transportation and shops and restaurants. The staff is great and the rooms are nicely furnished although the "single" room truly meets the old Brisich saying that's it is not large enough to swing a cat. I understand the economy of scale but sometimes it can be overdone.

The lobby is beautiful and very ornate. An although the room was quite small, it was pleasant enough and seemed like decent value. Unfortunately my room was at the back of the hotel and the entire back wall of the room was basically windows. The blinds on the windows were translucent (and one was broken) and with all the ambient light from the street, […] my room never got dark. Together with the time change, that was havoc on my circadian rhythms. I barely slept at all. A bedroom needs to be dark! I was in London for business so, after a day of meetings, I just wanted to come back to the hotel rest a little and go out to dinner close by. That meant I eat on Queensway, which is an absolutely vulgar street. So maybe it would have been better for me to be in a different neighborhood. Lesa meira

This hotel has a great location. The building is steeped in history and architecture. The staff is great! The rooms are EXTREMLY small but newly renovated. Now for the disaster - I work as a retail consultant so I find the situation perplexing - The management is a disaster...no follow up, they pass the buck from one to the other, they use each other […] as an excuse, they talk down to the staff. Usually when you have this behavior within management it infects the staff, thankfully the virus hasn’t spread! Of the several issues (lost laundry, poorly laundered shirts, and forgotten room service orders) the worst was that none of my business colleagues or I were able to use Outlook to check our mail and work from the hotel because of blocked ports in there router. When we asked them to review this giving them the technical solution on the first day nothing was done. We had to repeat the problem and solution to every manager at the desk for the next 3 days. On the 4th day their IT support guy appeared and gave us the simple response that it was due to company policy and that he had no idea why. When we asked why a hotel that caters to business people would block internet access to our corporate email accounts they couldn't give us an answer. They advertise internet access but for what? Of all my hotel stays around the world I have never seen email access blocked. Lesa meira

Yes, the rooms are small. Once you get used to the fact that most European hotel rooms are small, you will love this hotel. The wood paneling in the lobby and staircase is outstanding. The wifi, a necessity for us, worked well. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom contained a shower/tub combo (with HOT water!), toilet, and a large bowl sink. […] There are two underground stations nearby: Queensway and Bayswater. There are souvenir shops and restaurants on the way to the underground stations (skip the expensive hotel breakfast!).
