Excelent location and surroundings, staff nice & polite. 2 potential problems, first there was stair access not advertised which could be problemmatic for older guests and second a requirement to possess a credit card even though room was fully pre paid which might be usual for north american guests but might be problemmatic for UK guests who do not […] wish to enter the credit card debt cycle. While I was in Victoria for Congress 2013, two of my friends were seeing the sights. Our suite was absolutely perfect with a bedroom with two beds and a pull-out couch and a kitchen -- and a little verandah overlooking the garden. Amazing for the price, really. The much appreciated extras were coffee, tea, and fresh Mackintosh apples everyday -- also […] good water pressure, lots of closet space, an iron and ironing board, and wifi. The hotel is at the corner of Beacon Hill Park -- beautifully green and minutes from the ocean and the Inner Harbour. It's also close to the bus stop to UVic which was perfect for me. This hotel was nice, the greeting staff were very nice, courteous and helpful. The room was great, big. Small kitchenette, dining table and chairs, reading leather chairs, and a comfy king sized bed. Some things are a little out dated but it is not noticeable as they go well with the cottage decor. Would much rather stay here than the Executive, or […] Bed ford Regency. very direct rout to royal jubilee hospital. Less than a block to old spaghetti factory. well equipped kitchen and corner unit very roomy. very close to walk to many attractions, but just past all the traffic. great view and nice extras in the lobby. a selection of fresh coffee and teas, and in the afternoon, a pot of tea and cookies . very good value […] at a very reasonable price. stayed an extra day. If you are an older person and get a room on the 3rd floor it may be a little difficult as there is no elevator. Junior suites are just great. Bathrooms are small but comfortable and clean.

We have stayed at the Helms Inn several times. This past trip and the one before were very disappointing because of the room not being up to standard. Floors and carpet were not vacumed,. The room had not been dusted and the closet mirrors were dirty and streaky.. This is so sad because it has been renovated and the management is so friendly. I have stayed at Helm's Inn twice and have been very pleased both times. The location is perfect for walking downtown, to the park, to the beach, or just around the beautiful neighborhoods. But they also have parking if you need a car. There is no restaurant on sight but there are plenty within walking distance. The staff were always pleasant and helpful. […] The housekeeping staff were very helpful and were happy to do as much or little as you needed on your schedule. The room was very clean a little old fashioned but clean. IT had a small kitchen, with table and chairs and a fridge. Which meant for us an opportunity to buy some food and drinks and stay in for breakfast, or have a coffee or a night cap. We enjoyed our stay and staff very helpful and freindly. Excellent location too.

We very much enjoyed our 2 nights at Helm`s Inn. The accommodation was spacious, with a full kitchenette and it was extremely comfortable. The location too was very central for sightseeing and walking around the city. We would definitely like to stay there when we are in Victoria again.

We were sent out in the dark, although there were street lights, to find the third building. We were also hauling heavy luggage. We found the building okay but were disconcerted to find many steps outside and then a long enough staircase inside with not an elevator in sight. We where pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Helms inn. it is situated very close to central victoria, Everything is within walking distance and the room is like a kitchinette with all the things required to make your own food if you so required. We were offered coffee and candies when we arrived which was a very nice touch. the only complaint was […] that the handle on our room door stuck down and we had to go to front desk to make sure the door was closed. Excellent. The bathroom needs to be more efficiently designed in terms of convenience. More practical appointments i.e. shelves and smaller mirrors. Kitchen stove needs to be upgraded. Kitchen utensils need to be more complete. Staff was quite helpful in sorting things out though.

This hotel is older but very comfortable. Our room was spacious with a small kitchen area, a desk, a table for eating with two chairs, and a small table with two chairs for reading/relaxing. The location is excellent being behind the Royal Museum and across the street from Beacon Hill Park and a short walk into town or to the sea. There is also parking […] for your car upon request. One draw back. There is no elevator so if you have trouble with stairs, ask for a first floor room. We asked for a quiet room and got one facing away from the street. Very good value for the money. Our refrigerator was very noisy, so we were moved to another room the second night. We always appreciate our stay at the Helm. We stayed at a couple of other hotels during our four day stay on the Island and I realize what a gem the Helm is compared to other hotels.

Staff attentive, friendly and accommodating. Small intimate feeling. All special requests made when booking the room were honored. Well located. Reasonable walk from Victoria Clipper dock but a bit of a challenge if you have substantial luggage (Taxi fare-$7.50). Close to Inner Harbor, near down town district, auto rental agencies a couple blocks away […] and across the street from Beacon Hill Park with beautiful trails to the eastern island shore. I booked my stay at the Helm's Inn based on the reviews that I read, and, not being familiar with Victoria, thought that it would be a convenient location to all activities. I was not disappointed. The room was spacious, very comfortable, and being a woman travelling on my own, I felt safe. The museum, wharf, market, shops and restaurants are close-by--easy […] walking distance. The bus was also right at your door if you wish to hop on it to head to Swartz Bay ferry terminal for a day trip to Salt Spring Island. The Helm's Inn is in a convenient, quiet location. Hotel is near a busy road which was noticeable until late evening. Both rooms we looked at were slightly on the dark side and some renovation work was in progress( with appropriate apologies). One of the rooms had a faint,lingering smell which didn't disappear Hotel very convenient for city Centre, Harbour and Beacon Hill Park (which is less manic than […] the other two locations in August). This hotel was really a pleasant surprise. I took the ferry from Seattle to Victoria and this hotel was so conveniently located that I could walk to everything. The room was very large with a full kitchen so I could eat in if I chose to do so. I loved it and would definitely stay there again.

As others have mentioned, this was really a great find! So close to everything, yet quiet. Best of all were the beds - they were so comfortable - even the rollaway! It is very unusual for this family to find sleeping arrangements that are as good as home! The space was ample for our family of 4 (including two 'adult' children)! can't say enough; the Helm's in was in great walking distance of downtown Victoria, Fisherman's wharf, museum, bus depot, etc. Anywhere I wanted to be. There was a bit of a problem with parking, but I think it just happened, during our stay that most guests had their own vehicles with them. Excellent hotel in walking distance of all major attractions. Great facilities with fairly well equipped kitchen (limited utensils). Rooms have been renovated and are in very good condition - ours was spotlessly clean. We asked for and were given room not facing road. Staff were very firendly and helpful.

This was our second visit to Helms Inn and we definitely would stay there again. We love to walk, and it was easy to get to downtown locations in Victoria. Our recently refurbished room was very comfortable as well as being very attractive. The staff was helpful and accommodating.

Perfect location, next to the BC Museum and 2 blocks from Parliment. We walked everywhere. Roomy rooms and nice lobby and patio area to relax if needed.

The Helm's is a lovely hotel in a very nice section of Victoria......Very close to the inner harbor and the B.C. museum. We found the room spacious and comfortable and clean. The kitchen was well stocked and had a full oven, stove top and large fridge. Although it was on a busy road, it did not seem noisy even on a Saturday night.

Helms Inn is a great place to stay when visiting Victoria. It is conveniently located to the ferry and all downtown attractions. The only complaint about our stay was on one day when insufficient towels were supplied and we had to ask for more. But we received an immediate response for our request for more towels.

This was my 2nd stay at the Helms Inn and I love the location, very quiet yet close to everything. You can walk to shopping, restaurants, the harbour, the legislature, museum, etc and as I was in town to attend a concert, was pleased to be able to walk to the Royal Theatre as well. You are also walking distance to Beacon Hill Park and so you have the […] best of both worlds. I love the flowers out front of the hotel buildings, the overall hominess and quaintness and especially, the lack of traffic noise at night when you want to be sleeping. I loved this hotel. It was quiet and clean. In walking distance to everything in town but just far enough away from the busy streets that it was peacful and quiet. The beautiful park across the street was perfect for a morning jog and an evening stroll.
