"Hotel Excelsior Nice France"
Tidy and clean room, very near to Gare Nice Ville, just 5-10 minutes walk. Also we got to the Nice airport very easily by the bus outside the gare. One improvement required is the design of the bathroom. There is no shower curtain so the water splash everywhere no matter how careful you have been, the floor get flooded (there is a glass partition but […] without any use). Lesa meira
the shower leaked horribly, the room service left our door unlocked AFTER we had asked for a 'do not disturb' sign as we were leaving & were told that it would be put on. at the breakfast table they left empty nutella packets after changing the dishes :( ugh.
"Good reasonably priced place near station"
Stayed in March - good rate from Hotels. Room and hotel were clean. If you are looking for luxury then this is not for you, if you are looking for reasonably priced, friendly and a bit of character to the hotel (ie its not all new) then this will suit you well. This is a hotel built around 100 years ago - externally it looks original. Inside it has […] a garden, breakfast area and good sized rooms. The area it is in, much like any railway station area, is not the best, however I was there alone as a female and never felt threatened. On the plus side there are lots of local restaraunts nearby including French, Indian, Chinese and Italian - all about a third cheaper than those close to the sea. Room was close to train station, which I needed. The staff didn't tell me there was a spa, work out room and one night I went for dinner and they said, sorry we are closed, but the hrs didn't state that. So I had to go out & find a restaurant which I found a good one and continued to go there for both nights instead of the hotels. Also, my room was […] very hot and couldn't control the temp. I put a do not disturb sign on my door because I was working and the maid still ran the door and then came in while I was working insisting on cleaning and then used the phone to call the manager and I had to tell him the room is ok. We only stopped over in Nice and the hotel was perfect for our needs as it was near the station and ten minutes walk from the beach. The room is of a good size, the staff are nice but maybe a hotel good for only a night or two.
"Short walk to all the action"
Like the title says, we were a short walk from all of the night life in Nice. We had a really great time, felt completely safe in the neighborhood and wished we would have stayed for a couple more days. The bathroom was clean and a decent size. Bed ( standard double) was comfortable.

This was a great hotel for the money and very conveniently located by the train station. Rooms were not luxurious, but spacious and very clean with A/C. Staff was courteous and it was only a 10 minute walk to the beach. I would definitely recommend it as good value if you aren't looking for luxury.

"Hotel Excelsior Nice, FR- value, convenience"
We stayed almost a week at the Hotel Excelsior on our recent trip to the French Riviera. We were impressed with the helpful staff, especially Corinne. All staff were very accommodating and professional. The room was average size by European standards and well appointed. We would stay there again should our travels bring us back to the Riviera.
"Good location, careful not to slip in the bath tub"
The location was what we wanted, something very close to the Niceville station as we had a 6.30 am departure. Neighbourhood is a bit dodgy though at night. The bathtub was very slippery, even hazardous. We did not receive our reminder call that we booked, so lucky we had a backup with an alarm on our phone! "close to train"
The biggest advantage staying at this hotel is its location to the train station. It's a 3-5 minute walk. It's also about a 25 minute walk to Old Town and the Mediterranean. The surrounding neighborhood is a bit sketchy looking but we did not feel unsafe. The room was on the small side, but quiet and very clean. The location of the hotel is in a bit of a dodgy area near the train station but is relatively convinient location to the old part of the town and access to the city. The hotel was clean and spacious.

The Excelsior was a very nice hotel with a very helpful friendly staff. It was convienient to the train station (five minutes walk) and 15 minute walk to the beach, ten minutes to the main shopping area. "Hotel Excelsior Nice, France"
The hotel was as indicated in the description. Old and worn in places, but still comfortable. The rooms are small but that was expected.The toilet area was so small that you could not shut the door but functioned and that is really all that matters. The shower area is very tight but good water pressure .Nice vanity so you could store under the sink […] We had a balcony which was very rustic but also very French. Good location to the water and many restaurants in close vicinity. Very close to the Train Station, but they were not running because of the strikes. Hotel staff extremely informative and gave us great advise as to how to get to Monte Carlo The bus station was not too far away and only cost 1 Euro each way for a lovely hour drive along the Riviera!! A lovely hotel. Little bit of a walk to the central areas but very easy to find (2 min walk) from train station. It was a very comfortable place to stay in Nice and I would recommend it to others.

Hotel Excelsior is very close to train station so most convenient. I found staff on reception courteous and helpful at all times and the rooms adequate for my purpose.

Near the bus terminal and short walk to the beach. On quiet and safe street. The hotel has a nice little inside court with garden, tables, wifi. Staff is helpful. Room was clean.

The Staff is friendly and very accomodating. The hotel is in a convenient location near the Train Station, this may turn some folks off as neighborhoods around Stations are generally not too nice. The elevator in the hotel is small (holds 2 people no luggage or 1 person and 2 suitcases). They offer breakfast for a fee per person it is the standard continental […] breakfast fare. The room was decent sized and ours overlooked the street which can get a bit loud. Other rooms overlook the garden which I assume would be more quiet. There are 4 Laundry Mats near by and it is a short walk to the shopping boulevard and beach or you can catch the tram nearby to th beach the price is 1 euro for a 1 way ticket. Lesa meira

This hotel is very convenient to the train station...just a short walk down the hill. Hotel staff was very helpful and we enjoyed our time there in Nice. The hotel is looking a little bit "long in the tooth", could use some paint here and there. Breakfast was somewhat disappointing in that we arrived (in plenty of time) and found no eggs were left and […] no more to be made, orange juice was empty and very few croissants left. We only went once because it was 13 euros each and we didn't get the full value. Only 6 Safe deposit boxes available through the front desk, and we couldn't have one until the 3rd night. The hotel is on a pleasant tree-lined street and just a 15 minute walk to the beaches. Many pleasant little restaurants in the neighborhood -- from brasseries to ethnic foods (esp. Chinese and Japanese) We strongly recommend that you do NOT attempt to drive in this easy-walking city, mostly because parking places are very hard to find and require constant meter feeding when you do. We had hoped to use our car to travel to local small hill towns, but gave it up early (auto rentals are all at the train station) because it was too inconvenient to use. Lesa meira

"Good location to railway station but........"
The hotel is located only about 300m from the main railway station at Nice and is easily located. The hotel reception & sitting areas look a lot better than the rooms are. Our room, 406, located on the top floor was of a reasonable size however it was equiped with very little. Small flat sceen TV & one chair which couldn't be used at the desk. There […] was a balcony but no chairs/table to sit out there on. No fridge, safe or free wifi. Bed was double not queen & was okay. Carpet was filthy & I do understand that some guests don't look after things but a clean of the carpets once in a while would help. Other guests staying at the hotel also have to realize that doors make a lot of noise particularly doors like at this hotel which have no handl. They can be closed without making a lot of noise! The staff at the hotel were polite & helpful but if I was to return to Nice I would look for another hotel as no doubt there are better in the area with more facilities and at a more reasonable rate. "Hotel Excelsior convenient near station..."
The Hotel was convenient to the station as we had to take the train the next day to Avignon. The room was comfortable with double opening windows onto a palm tree reflected against a terracotta wall. The breakfast excellent and plentiful. Our only problem was the national train strike the next day...
"Would stay there again"
We only needed the hotel for one night but the staff were extremely accommodating and found us a garden room. This was delightful, with chairs and tables provided in shady spots. Just watch out for the invisible biting insects when you sit in the garden as, if they like your skin type, the reactions are pretty nasty. "dont expect too much"
I booked this hotel because of the excellent reviews i had seen both on here and other hotel review sites and expected to be impressed. There was nothing particualry wrong with the hotel as we just used it for sleeping and it was close transport links and easy to find. However the level of service disapppointed me. i had already prebooked a double room […] but when we arrived we were put in a twin (with dirty sheets) I spoke to the receptionist who said there was nothing he could do that evening but assured me he would leave a note for tomorrows staff and it would be sorted then. When i spoke to the receptionist in the morning she knew nothing of it and threw a strop when i asked her to move us rooms. In the end she came to tell me it was sorted and i returned to the room to find the two beds pushed together, but still with single sheets on! In the grand scheme of things this wasnt too much of a problem but i was disappointed as i was expecting so much more. The room was average and the breakfast simple but adaquate. all in all ok if you want a base to explore nice and its surroundings . Lesa meira

Очень дружелюбный персонал, уютные номера с балконом, очень красивое и стильное ниццианское здание, довольно удобное расположение, потрясающей красоты внутренний дворик (который почему-то владельцы не отобразили на фотографиях - а зря), вкусные завтраки (если попросить […] - вам с удовольствие пожарят яичницу помимо шведского стола) - все супер. Sijainniltaan hyvällä paikalla lähellä rautatieasemaa oleva hotelli, varsinkin jos liikut junalla. Kävellen rantaan n.10min. Kätevästi rantaan pääsee myös raitiovaunulla. Hotelli ei ole mikään loistelias, mutta siisti ja palvelu ihan hyvää. Aamiainen keskinkertainen. Kaiken kaikkiaan hinnaltaan toimiva ja siisit hotelli.
