When planning a trip Venice we were advised not to stay in or very close to Venice. So we decided on this hotel only 30 min drive to Venice. And we hit the jackpot. This hotel is royalty. The garden surrounding the hotel is HUGE and very romantic. The hotel is like nothing else. It’s more like a mansion. The room was very big, more like a suite. I could not believe the elegance for this price. The whole time we stayed there I was expecting someone to slap me in the face and charge me three times more. We are still amazed by value for our money. It’s like something from the TV show bachelor. Highly recommended.

San Marco (St Mark’s) is quintessential visitors’ Venice. The Piazza San Marco, famous for its pigeons, campanile, basilica, Palazzo Ducale (Doge’s Palace) and expensive cafes, is unmissable. The waterfront views are legendary and more gondolas depart from here than anywhere else in the city. In season the Piazza teems with day trippers though just a block or two away streets are quiet and offer more museums and palaces to explore.

Perfect location - close enough to St. Mark's Square to hear the bells chime! Nice people, good breakfast, charming room. Walking the three full flights of stairs to reach the Antica is not the best, but if you can manage it, it is worth the climb!

"Great, cozy and welcoming"
Great little hotel. Great location, clean room, helpful staff. Only small complaint was the extremely noisy bed but otherwise it was wonderful.

Very nice hotel. Very clean with friendly staff. Complimentary breakfast every morning and only a one minute walk from St. Mark's Square. A little hard to find when you first get there and a bit strange that you have to go to the 3rd floor for the reception desk. "Nice place- hard to find"
Nice staff - overall the best communicative staff that I experienced in Italy for our 2 week vacation. The room was slanted, up three flights of stairs, no TV functionality, Signage made it hard to find.

"Great location, helpful staff"
We stayed here for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The front desk staff went out of their way to provide us with dinner recommendations (both fantastic) and to help us figure out what transportation options to the airport made sense. The breakfast was standard (cereals, pastry, etc) but the location on the roof and the views were phenomenal. "What an experience!!!"
Arrived at the hotel at about 10:30 pm. Found it rather easily. When we got to the address it looked like a vacant building. There was just a small sign at the side of the door to show we had the right place. We pressed a button to open the door. Inside, there was no sign of a hotel at all. It was just an empty, brick room with a motion detector light […] and a staircase. My husband went up the stairs for 64 steps before he found a locked gate. Outside the gate was a speaker box which he pressed the button to find out if there was anyone there to ask if we had the right place. He was instructed via the voice on the box to enter a code which they gave to open the gate. The key to our room had been left on a desk which had no one at it. It was quite freaky. There is no elevator so you have to carry your luggage up and down the 64 stairs. The air conditioning didn't work well, but the room was neat and clean. The bathroom was fine. It was very small. The continental breakfast was nice, up on the roof which had an interesting view. We somehow missed that we were supposed to be out of the room at 10:00 am, and since we were easily lost in the alley ways of Venice, we didn't get back to the room until 12:00. The hotel put our luggage out in the hall. I hope we were all packed, because we couldn't get back in the room. The location is good. Very close to St. Mark's Square. It was quite an adventure, and more than a little scary. It was fine once we figured out what was going on, but at 10:30 at night, in a city you are totally unfamiliar with, we thought for sure we had been scammed and would need to try to locate a place to stay. "Good option"
Location of this place is fantastic. Only inconvenience are the 3 stories that you have to go up and down every time.... with or without luggage. We had the "Carpaccio" room and it was clean and small but well laid out. The lady at the front desk was always very nice and helpful. Would totally recommend this hotel.
"A little bit of Venice"
If you're looking for a hotel that offers you a little piece of Venice, this is it. The cons are that it is a bit hard to find (we ended up tipping a guy on the street who offered to help us find it), you have to walk up 4 flights of stairs (very hard with all of our baggage for the full two week trip, but the hotel assisted us), and the bathroom is […] quite small. I realize that bathrooms in Italy are smaller than US bathrooms, but my husband is a big guy (about 350lbs) and the shower was so small that he really couldn't take a shower. If you are average size it is dealable, but if you are overweight at all I wouldn't recommend it. The room is small, but probably average for the area so not a big deal. Once you find it, it is very convenient. The pros are that it is very near the Piazza and the small shops and cafes. They also offer free wifi and breakfast. The breakfast can be eaten on a beautiful terrace that gives fantastic views of the city. buy a bottle of vino and relax for the evening. They also have a small fridge in the room. Overall, I would recommend it if you are planning on staying for a few nights and don't mind the tiny shower. If you are overweight I wouldn't recommend it at all or I would suggest you ask if they have a room with a larger shower. I think for a week long stay it would be very nice, but for just one night it was a bit trying to find (only to have to pack up and leave again the next day). I think if I was to do another one-night in Venice trip, I would sty closer to the bus station and just take the water bus in for the day. That would allow you to walk to and from the buss station and just buy one 12 hour water bus pass to get in and back. Lesa meira

"Cute and Authentic"
This is more of a B&B than a hotel, and we had a great time here. The rooms were small but well maintained, with relatively large bathroom and an amazing air conditioner. However, our mini-fridge wasn't working for our entire stay which was kind of disappointing. The staff were very kind and welcoming, but the desk was only staffed for parts of the […] day, and there is no one at the desk after 11 p.m. The breakfast every morning was delicious and well stocked with the option to sit outside on the rooftop patio or inside. It IS something of a hike though, being located on the 3rd and 4th floors of the building, so if you aren't up for a daily climb this isn't the place for you. Lesa meira

Once you find it you won't be disappointed. The hotel staff were friendly and most helpful. The rooms are small but not uncommon to Europe. We absolutely loved the location and the rooftop patio was perfect for breakfast and a late night drink.

"Sweet hotel in the heart of San Marco"
What a sweet hotel this is. A very small, boutique kind of place run by a nice Venetian family. It is very old world in its decor. The room was typically European very small, but clean. The only problem that I had with it was that it was 80 degrees in the room and the fan and AC were broken for the entire 7 days of my stay. Quite uncomfortable. You […] also need to know that it is on the 3rd floor -- accessible only by stairs -- and there was no bellman to cart my luggage up or down the stairs. (I'm a 53 year old woman with back problems, so this was an issue after a long flight from the West Coast US.) One of the great delights was the roof deck... where I had breakfast every morning (basic pastries and yogurt) and often brought a picnic to share with my visiting friends. It was very quaint. "Pleasantly surprised"
After reading some unfavourable reviews, I was a bit apprehensive upon arriving at the Locanda, but those fears were quickly put to rest after being greeted at the front desk. Service was friendly and efficient. Room was spacious, comfortable and quiet. Bathroom was not ensuite, but was for our own private use, and easily accessible in the hallway. […] Breakfast was simple, but fresh and plentiful. Rooftop patio a particularly nice touch. The location could not be beat, being in the heart of Venice, just moments away from St. Mark's Square. The b&b is not new, but maintained well enough, and was a fair representative of what I expected to find in a city so full of rich history. "A Great Place to Stay in Venice"
Although it took us a little while to actually find the Locanda Antica Venezia, we were very happy that we did. It's a cozy place, the reception was warm and helpful and in English. The breakfast was very good, though the coffee form a machine was a bit of a disappointment. Overall, we were very happy and would recommend it to others. Our stay was great. We travelled with 2 young daughters and they loved it. Our balcony overlooked a piazza and there was a great restaurant next door that had reasonbly priced food (a rarity in Venice). Would highly recommend this hotel.

We arrived very later at our hotel due to our flight being delayed because of the volcanic ash!!! Once we got off the water bus we found the hotel very easily and even though we arrived at 3am and no one was on the reception desk our key and paperwork were placed on the desk ready for us to finally retire to our room!!! There was no hot water in the shower. It was barely lukewarm. Tough the hotel has a nice roof with a view over the city.
"Exactly what I was expecting to find"
We only stayed for two nights, the locanda was easy to find from the Vaporetto stop of San Marco Vallaresso, even though the entrance looked more like an apartment condominium than an hotel entrance. We were told to leave the suitcases downstairs, then we went up three flight of stairs to check-in. Finally they took us to a different building some fifty […] yards away where our quadruple room was located (the room key also opened the building door). The room was large and clean even though we had ants in the bathroom. The shower enclosure was pretty tight for tall men. The best part was having breakfast on the terrace of the locanda (fourth floor), where we had a beautiful view of St. Marc bell tower and Venice's roof tops. Lesa meira

Was a little concerned after reading very mixed reviews. One concern was that it was 'difficult to find' and as we were arriving in the early hours thought we might struggle - however after getting a google direction map had no problem whatsoever! Finding the hotel is not obvious but instructions on the hotel web site are useful and searching through the narrow streets is all part of the fun. This is a slightly unusual hotel as the reception is in one converted Venetian merchant's house whilst many of the rooms are in nearby similar houses so is more of a collection of houses rather than a traditional […] self-contained hotel. That said, the suite we had for the family felt very homely with some nice Venetian detailing. Breakfast can be taken on the roof terrace which gives fantastic views across to St Marks and several other famous landmarks - the sparrows also kept everyone amused as they tried to make off with any spilt crumbs! El hotel está en una callejuela de Venezia que nadie conoce. Tampoco se conoce el hotel. Para llegar al sitio debí acudir a la ayuda de empleados de otros hoteles que me fueron guiando por Google Maps. Igualmente fué muy dificil, ya que no tiene NINGUN CARTEL O ANUNCIO DEL HOTEL. Pasé por la puerta, cansado y cargado de valijas varias veces sin poder […] encontrar cuál es la puerta. El teléfono consignado NO ES ATENDIDO. Finalmente llegué a una puerta que estaba cerrada y mediante un botón que debí descubrir, pude abrir la puerta de ingreso desde la calle. Con equipaje hay que subir CUATRO PISOS POR ESCALERA en un medio oscuro y lúgrube. Cuando llegamos al piso no había nadie. La recepción cierra a las 9,30 PM. Dejaron un sobre con llaves y así pudimos ingresar Lo mismo cuando partí, a las 6,50 AM, todavía no había nadie, siquiera para pagar una botella de agua del frigobar. ES ABSOLUTAMENTE DESACONSEJABLE. Nadie puede subir cuatro pisos con valijar por escaleras después de recorrer dos o tres horas intentando descubrir ese lugar oculto. "Hôtel l'ocanda antica à Venise"
Il est situer dans un immeuble au 4ieme étage sans ascenseur, la salle de bain est privé mais à l extérieur de la chambre, la personne à l accueil ne parle pas un mot de français, sachant que les commerçants et les autre hôtel font un effort !!!! Très très déçu !

Assolutamente un ottimo soggiorno nella locanda antica venezia. Staff a dir poco gentilissimo e sempre disponibile. Posizione dell'hotel esattamente dietro piazza san marco. Colazione fantastica. Camera spaziosa e romantica. Non chiederei di meglio per vivere qualche giorno in Venezia.

Spenderade fem dagar i venedig och hade locanda antica venezia som hotell. Ett mysigt hotell nära San marco. 1-2minuters promenad. Stort rum, men eget badrum utanför rummet. Tre trappor upp till receptionen, ytterligare en trappa till hotellrummet, altan och frukostrummet. Wifi uppkoppling fungerade bara i recptionen, det fungerade 2 enstaka tillfällen […] under fem dagar, dåligt! Frukosten var ok, en bröd sort resten var sötsaker. Sötad fruktyoghurt med olika flingor. 2-3 i personalen som kunde bra engelska, rest förstådd knappt något och hade svårt att konversera. Men de var ganska tillmötesgående. "En lille perle med tagteresse til de forelskede"
Hotellet er et fantastisk, men meget lille sted. Rummene er små og ligger ikke ud til en kanal. Der er en lille vidunderlig tagteresse med udsigt over byens tage. Den er det hele værd og må bruges døgnets 24 timer. Reseptionisterne er utrolig søde og hjælpsomme. Ett charmigt Hotell med trevlig personal,men kanske lite dåliga öppet tider i receptionen! Det va välldigt svårt att hitta till Hotellet,man måste va uppmärksamm när man letar! har man bara hittat rätt gata så går det lätt att fråga sig fram. skulle gärna sova där igen, rent o städat och med nya sängkläder o handdukar varle dag. frukosten va i sötaste […] laget,men skulle tro att det är Italiensk frukost. Je ne recommande absolument pas cet hotel qui ne correspond pas a un trois etoiles. Hotel.com se garde bien de preciser que c est au 3eme etage sans ascenseur, toujours tres desagreable quand on ne peut porter ses valises. L entree est remplie de poubelles de tous les etages, la lumiere est difficile a trouver ainsi que l hotel mais c est une constante […] a Venise que de voir des gens chercher leur hotel. chambre avec une porte pourrie par l eau ainsi que la tapisserie. drap troue . sol aussi. telecommande de la tele hs et tele antediluvienne avec ecran minuscule Wc qui fuit toute la nuit. "Das etwas andere Hotel - Dolce Vita in Venezia !"
Der Eingang zum Hotel ist nicht leicht zu finden - in einer kleinen Seitengasse. Auch die Eingangstür findet man erst bei näherem Hinsehen und Suchen. Nur nicht entmutigen lassen. über ein Treppenhaus, vorbei an Wohnungen und einem Notar, erreicht man dann […] im 3. Stock die Rezeption - endlich. Wir wurden sehr nett und freundlich empfangen. Weiter gehts in den 4. Stock - hier sind ie Zimmer und die Frühstücksterrasse. Wunderschön ausgestattet und sauber! Frühstück bei Sonnenschein auf der Terrasse im 4. Stock mit Blick auf die umliegenden Dachterrassen und den Campanile von Venedig. Kaffee, Tee, italienisch Gebäck - Was will man mehr! Wir kommen gerne wieder. ;-))) Lesa meira

O atendimento do hotel é feita pelos proprietários que são sempre muito disponíveis e incansáveis.

Tive muita dificuldade para encontrar o hotel. Não sabia que tinha 3 andares de escada para subir. Não me disseram que o banheiro não estava no quarto, apesar de exclusivo. Contudo o atendimento foi bom e a localização é excelente.
