I recommend this hotel only if you have a car; the nearest supermarket or some shop is located from a few miles away. Though I could walk from the airport easily, it seems almost impossible to walk to downtown area, especially in winter season. "Alpine Lodge Fairbanks"
Very satisfied with stay. Staff was very friendly and easy to work with. The restaurant that is attached to the Hotel is very nice and laid back. Definitely someplace I would suggest for the person that just wants to relax after spending a day with family.

"nice place"
The room was comfortable. The bathroom was HUGE. Breakfast was cereal and toast, but tasted good. I enjoyed my stay.

The hotel was clean and the staff was very helpful. The only negative experience was that I arranged for the shuttle bus to take me to the airport and on the day of departure I received a call that a taxi was waiting for me downstairs. When I asked the front counter as to why a taxi was waiting for me I was informed that no one was there to drive me […] in their van so not only was I not notified ahead of time, I was expected to pay for the taxi. "Stay"
The hotel staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Being so close to the airport was a major plus. The rooms weren't as nice as I would have liked but they sufficient.

The rooms were small and cramped but the overall hotel was nice. It was close to the airport but if you wanted a place to eat besides the restaurant attached to the hotel you had to drive a bit.

Many of the more expensive hotels on our trip didn't offer the same amenities that Alpine Lodge did. It's always nice to have a coffee pot in your room and complimentary breakfast. Thanks to Alpine Lodge for a nice one-night stay in a clean, pleasant room. We would definitely come back.

"good hotel, bad location!"
the hotel room was nothing home to write about. comfy beds, working microwave and fridge, decent showers. we didn't eat at the hotel restaurant, so can't say anything there. staff was friendly. free breakfast included cereal, english muffin, danishes, bagel, toast, orange juice/coffee (bad)/water, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, canned tropical fruit (yuck) […] and i think thats it. location was really close to airport, but that meant we were far away from restaurants/bars/groceries/and downtown. we didn't rent a car the first day so we had to walk about one mile to the closest food place (we didn't want to eat at our hotel restaurant). keep in mind there is a public bus that runs right in front of the hotel to downtown..but i think it comes every hour or so..check with concierge. seriously...there was nothing to do around the hotel. except wait around at night in hopes of the northern lights coming through (we saw it our first night september 11th!!). it was a nice hotel, but i wouldn't stay there just because of the location. free shuttle from airport to hotel worked by just taking any of the taxis waiting outside, telling them what hotel, and the driver would know to collect the money at the front desk. shuttle to train station had a van picked us up at 7:15 am. Hotel was very nice, clean & comfortable with a good attached restaurant. It was near the airport & they provided complimentary transportation from the airport. We needed a taxi upon checkout & the counter person handled that for us. There didn't appear to be anything of interest within walking distance of the lodge.
"Alpine Surprises"
They gave us the wrong room but quickly changed it and even gave us an upgrade at no additional cost. The free wi-fi and even use of a computer and printer in the lobby was a real plus! Also, the Continental breakfast was much more than pastries and coffee. We had hb eggs, cereal, toast, fresh fruit, AND pastries. We checked out at 11 but came back […] in the afternoon to hang out in the comfortable lobby until our plane departure time. We would recommend it to anyone traveling to Fairbanks. The Alpine lodge is near the airport, with suttle service and on the public transportation route. Very friendly at the reception desk, and very accommodative. We left our bags all day there as our flight was at 10:30 PM. Very good free breakfast, This is a new hotel. I recommend it.
For the money spent, I would have thought the room would have been bigger and more sound proof. Every noise around your room is heard. On a good note, the staff was very good and helpful.
"Nice place to stay close to airport"
Be aware that after a certain time they will not send the shuttle, but will have you take a cab and reimburse you. Make sure you get a receipt. This was a nice place for a reasonable price, especially in the peak summer season.

It was nice to have it so close, yet quiet, to the Fairbanks airport. The breakfast is adequate and the staff are great. Would stay here again if in the area.
Had a plesant stay. The turn to the hotel is easy to miss if you are not familiar with the area.

Had my son and his friend fly in from Sacramento at midnight. The staff picked them up with 500 lbs of luggage at the airport across the road. "Alpine Lodge by the Airport---Fairbanks, Alaska"
The hotel was clean, quiet and provided a nice place to rest while in Fairbanks. Although there isn't a pool, or a big workout area, it has a nice lobby and plenty of area surrounding the hotel to let the kids run around and blow off some energy. Beautiful flowers in the courtyard, with benches to sit on. Nice lobby with free coffee and tea 24/7. Breakfast […] was basically hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal and bread products. Very happy to finally find someplace in Fairbanks that is clean and reasonable in price in the Summer. They could use another computer in the lobby but aside from that everything was perfect...look forward to staying there in the future.

We stayed three nights. Less than a mile from the airport, within walking distance of the Discovery III River Cruise. Beautiful facility NEW and well kept. Good breakfast selections and very helpful staff. If we come to Fairbanks again, THIS is where we will stay!
"Pleasant Stay off the main road"
While the hotel was great in it's amenities and comfort, the only thing I didn't care for was it was off a major road near an airport (though no noise or traffic were issues). I'm just saying if you want a hotel with pedestrian access, this one ain't for you.

Better rooms and amenities than other slightly higher priced hotels in Fairbanks. Closest to airport. NOT within walking distance of commercial and restaurant areas.
"Limited access to anything w/out a vehicle"
Unless you rent a vehicle from the airport, it is a dangerous walk from the hotel to the closest Safeway or fast food joints. The only restaurant there was closed while I was staying there. The neighborhood looked quite run down. The front desk staff were friendly. The room was not very clean, but it wasn't dirty enough to file a complaint. The Alpine Lodge in Fairbanks, AK is a well-kept hotel with fast, professional service. There is a restaurant lounge on site and the prices are comparable to what you'd expect from these on site facilities, although a little high for the area. The included continental breakfast is what you'd expect from higher class travel hotels, and is better than […] many offered at other hotels in the area. 24-hr free coffee service is available in the lobby, with vending machines on each level. High-speed wireless internet access is included, and rooms have a coffee maker, microwave and small refrigerator. I highly recommend Alpine Lodge for travelers utilizing the airport or the Parks Highway as these are only minutes away. The location is reasonably safe, outside of dense neighborhoods, and I would feel comfortable parking a securely packed vehicle in their lot overnight. However, for tourists or professionals who have interests downtown, the location is not convenient. Although access is easy since Airport Rd is one of the major thoroughfares in Fairbanks; and bus, taxi and car rentals are accessible from the Alpine Lodge; these services are more expensive and less timely in Fairbanks compared to many other cities. Pets are not welcome at the Alpine Lodge, so persons traveling with pets should consider other accommodations. For persons living in remote areas, the Alpine Lodge is centrally located to all the major freight depots in the city, and provides safe, convenient access to these facilities if you are in town picking up a freight delivery.
