This hotel is the perfect location for easy walks to the royal palace and oriente park, plaza espana, puerto del sol, de bod temple, and plaza mayor. Plus it is just steps from the metro for great access to the rest of the city. The front desk was very accomidating They let me check in early by several hours. They let me extend my stay at a discounted rate and they were very helpful in directing me to various places around the city. I had a wonderful stay and no real complaints. I had read in previous reviews for this hotel that they provide drinks in the refrigerator for free. This is NOT true - they charge for everything, even water (at the usual exorbitant hotel rates). Also, while there is a kitchenette in our room, there is absolutely nothing to use it with - not even one plate, or bowl, nor glass, and not one utensil […] - no spoon nor fork. While there is a microwave and oven, there is absolutely nothing you can use it with - unless you buy a bag of microwaveable popcorn! Also, there is no breakfast with the price for the room -actually this hotel has a very tiny lobby, so there would be no place to serve breakfast in any case. The best thing about this hotel is that it is in a convenient location, and the staff is courteous. Nothing else really stands out with this hotel. Lesa meira

Don't judge a book by it's cover! First impressions may put you off this great little hotel. Suites 33 has none of the "extras" that some hotels add - gym, huge lobby, pool, computer center, restaurant, etc. It's home appears to be in a somewhat questionable neighborhood. This hotel is no frills in a good central location. Located a few meters from a police station, the area is safe. There is no real lobby but our family room (king bed and pull-out couch) was large, clean, and quiet (with windows on an interior courtyard). The hotel is great and staff is very pleasant and helpful. However the location is a little seedy even though it's pretty central (next to Plaza Espania), it's on the street that doesn't have too many people at night and next to a strip club. Otherwise the hotel is perfect. The room that we stayed in even had a kitchenette.

We stayed at the hotel for four nights during Oct/12. Staff at the hotel were both friendly and helpful. Our room, which was on the 5th floor, was very quiet. The room itself, which was very clean, was large with a king sized bed and a nice, modern bathroom. There was a safe + wifi was available in the room. Hotel is very well situated close to Plaza […] d'Espagna (100 yards) and the Gran Via as well as two metro stations. Both the Royal Palace and the Plaza Mayor are within reasonable walking distance from the hotel. There is no restaurant or bar in the hotel but you are able to use these facilities at a sister hotel further up the street and there are many restaurants and coffee shops closeby. I really liked this hotel. My room was huge!1 it was very minimal with the decore, but that doesn't bother me, it was comfortable, and not the normal shoebox hotel room I have become accustomed to while traveling in Europe. Nice, but a little off the beaten path. A little walk to Atocha train station, but not terrible. The restaurant was OK for breakfast. Some friends said their room smelled of smoke, but ours was fine. There were a number of tour groups staying there. A short walk to the Regina Sophia.

We were within walking distance of all major sites in the downtown area (35 minutes to the Prado; 10 minutes to Palacio Real). When we didn't feel like walking, the metro was about 100 meters away. It´s a good location,very convinient,very clean though very basic.The staff is extermely friendly,helpful,and nice. However,the beds are horrible! They are hard as rock,we both ended up with sore backs. Another problem;the air conditioner,it´s extremely uneven,not effective at all. I won´t stay there again.

Very satisfied with stay. Only drawback was that the beds were very firm. My husband liked that. I did not. Other than that, the hotel and room were very clean. The hotel was very close to La Grand Via, a main thoroughfare. Close to restaurants and shopping. Starbucks is nearby if you cannot stomach espresso (like me).

The room was very modern, very clean and much bigger than any room I have stayed in Europe. The surrounding area just outside the hotel isn't the greatest. However, it is a short walk to Puerta del sol, plaza mayor.

This is a great hotel in a perfect location in Madrid. The staff was very helpful and attentive. The hotel lobby is small but understates the wonderful room. The room is large with a galley style kitchen. There aren't any kitchen accessories but anything can be provided upon request. We loved our stay here. The stay was on fri and sat nights, which are very busy, but this small, attractive hotel was very quiet, while being just steps away from the palacio real. Our room on the 5th floor (the top floor) at Suites 33 was brilliant. There was no view, but in its favour the bed room was very large had a huge bed, contained a well equipped kitchenette (microwave, hob, fridge, cupboards - but no cutlery, plates, saucepans etc) and was annexed to a lounge with sofa and tv. The bathroom had a bath, shower, toilet […] and bidet. The rooms were all exceptionally clean and well kept. We took cups and cutlery to make hot drinks but you could take more with you and cook basic meals. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful providing maps and recommendations and all speak English. There is somewhere to store bags after check out if you need it. The hotel is in between two metro stops each about 3-4 minutes away and it takes about 10 minutes down mainly pedestrian streets to get to the very centre of Madrid. The street itself could be quite loud so probably best to ask for a back room if you get disturbed easiliy. There is a chinese supermarket just next door and there are a number of small convenience stores nearby. This is an exceptional place for the price with all the comfort, space and quality you could ever want for a short stay/week long stay in Madrid. Lesa meira

We stayed here for 2 nights. Room number 17 is the biggest room on the 1st floor, comes with kitchenette and living area as well. The location is good, short walk to Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor or Mercado de San Miguel.

I travel VERY often, and I have never met the friendliest hotel staff before as I have at Suite 33. It's situated around the corner from the Metro -- a short walk down the street. The hotel is small, but expected for a City like Madrid or NYC. The nighttime staff was so helpful, that he even lent me his hair gel since I was in such a rush and couldn't […] make it to the store before leaving for the plane! The staff gave no BS, helped with reservations at a flamenco show, and I cannot say enough. The balcony we had in our room was nice -- the view was of the street, which was not spectacular, but for our short stay overnight it suited its purpose. If you are in Madrid for a short time and are not looking to waste your money on a fancy hotel, I recommend you stay here. After all, why spend your money on a room that you are only going to sleep in when you should be going out and enjoying the sites?!?! Lesa meira

Shame there is no tea and coffee making facilities,espacially when the hotel doesn't have a restaurant! Other than that the room was OK, they have air con, but hotel is noisy, you can hear all teh noise from the corridor. Reception is friendly, but the street is bit dirty, but greatly located just behind Grand Via, which is the main street.
