The hotel had nice staff who are eager to help, easy to find your way around, amazing surroundings. Stayed over a weekend and breakfast was a bit chaotic both mornings - a lot of staff around but not much coordination. I advise you avoid going around 8.30. This hotel has all of the makings of an excellent facility in a beautiful location. Unfortunately a series of really small faults led to a very frustrating weekend where we found it increasingly difficult to not go completely mad. The list includes: poor signage throughout the grounds, reception area location,codes for swimming pool area which didn't […] work, room keys that don't work, safes that can't be reset.... We complained to the duty manager in a very constructive manner about our experiences who apologised but we were not confident he would go away and take on board anything that we had said. Shame! Reception, bar and restaurant areas very modern and well presented. Room was very small with dated furniture and old tv with randomn programmed channels, no doubt as i got a cheap deal so they gave me a lower class room on the ground floor. No phone signal on O2 or Vodaphone tho free wifi provided. Pool was good but but gym v.small. Food in restaurant […] was buffet style, soup or salad to start which was fine but quality of steak poor, esp at a cost of £18.95 for two courses excl drink. Hotel De Vere Venue. Location and grounds very nice. Rooms are a bit small but the facilities are of a high standard. Very quiet location for a relaxing stay.

We stayed at this hotel for one night. The hotel is set in lovely grounds and the rooms were clean and hotel staff friendly. However, the room sizes were slightly dissapointing, as they were quite small. We have just returned from doing the Nuts Challenge and there was only a shower which was disappointing, as we were so looking forward to a bath. The […] TV in the room was also an old fashioned portable that had only 4 channels. The crockery was small and of cheap quality for the Tea and Coffee facilities. Generally it had more of a feel of a Retirement home. However, if you just need a clean bed in a quiet location then the hotel is fine. It is reasonably pleased. The hotel itself was nice, the surrounding grounds were lovely to walk around and the staff were friendly enough, unfortunately the room we stayed in was very cold, there was no bath and there was a slight smell of damp, I was also disappointed to find there was no longer a jacuzzi in the "spa" and the sauna was located in the small changing room, therefore […] a weekend with my partner would have been spent relaxing separately. very pleasant hotel freindly staff very helpfull

Booked this while we were visiting family near Guildford, so it was a great location for us. The hotel grounds are great, lots of space and very quiet, the facilities were also very good. I booked this because i needed somewhere cheap and was arriving late at night from Heathrow. The location is not particularly central to anywhere useful, but otherwise ok. Room was fine, although TV was dated and mobile phone reception was virtually non existant across the whole hotel site. The big problem i had was the check-out time of 9am, which […] is extremely early (i average well over 100nights a year in hotels, in dozens of countries, and have never had a check out so early in my life), and if i had realised that in advance, would not have stayed. I've no complaints with the hotel, the quality is very good. The food is also excellent and the staff are very helpful and attentive. Make sure you don't fall into the trap of following satnav as the postcode will take you into a residential street. Also there's little or no mobile phone reception within the hotel itself (o2, voda & 3) - except for […] outside the front door, no a great issue, just a pain when it's raining. Lesa meira

Hard to find by my sat nav, ended up in housing estate. Not that impressed with the overall Hotel, it is an out & out conference centre, the whole place seems a bit tired, walls showing signs of damp/wear & tear. My room on the small side small, very small bathroom, no bath only shower, no mobile phone coverage unless you go for a trip outside and the […] wi fi is very slow. Food in the restaurant not that good, cold and uninspiring and expensive…. No one asked how the food was -And they want extra for breakfast – and they tried to charge me twice for the room – you need the code for the barrier to get out, which is not given unless you ask - I will not use again as there is much better value and quality for less money………………….. What a strange place! My wife and I arrived in the dark and it took us a good 15 minutes to find Reception. We came across others newly arrived with the same problem. Signage is almost non-existent and there's no lighting to help you out. Forget the impressive photos of the medieaval hall, the hotel rooms are in a building similar to a students' hall […] of residence. The receptionist was fine but needed some help - simultaneously checking guests in and answering the phone. Needless to say a queue developed. There appears to be no lift so the cases were dragged up stairs to the room. The room was cramped (similar to a student hall of residence) and several items did not work - the broken arm of the door closer fouled the wall; the fan in the bathroom and the desk lamp didn't work and there was only one set of towels. The bed was hard and the television old fashioned. The room was clean however. We should have complained but all we wanted to do was get something to eat and go to bed. Can't comment on the restaurant, although the 3 course meal on offer seemed a reasonable price. We opted instead for the Duke of Wellington 5 minutes away, where we had an excellent light meal. My impression is that the De Vere Horsley Park caters for corporate training type clientele. Lesa meira

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The venue was amazaing and we were very lucky with the weather and enjoyed the gardens and grounds. the only negative was that the roon was very small - but to be honest we weren't in it much! The hotel is tucked away at the end of a drive and is over a vast space. We were a bit confused where to park to access reception but when we got there the staff were very efficent and friendly. The hotel is very large and has lots of corridors, it's a bit of a maze and reminded me slightly of a private hospital. But the facilities were nice e.g. swimming […] pool and sauna although we were disappointed that the jacuzzi was out of use. My room was average but clean. My friend also had a room that she'd got at a lower rate but her room was a lot nicer and had received a re-vamp with a flat screen tv and nicer furnishings. Breakfast at the hotel was very nice. There was a lot to choose from and the restaurant area was good. Overall I was happy with my stay. Lesa meira

Hotel was well kept but difficult to find the post code not correct for sat nav finished up in back lanes with 2 cars following me.My toilet was dirty with brown splash stains over it and black marks could not use. reception when told in the morning not that bothered. Breakfast very good value.

The service and the food at this hotel was good but this is another one of those hotels that show a big flashy facade and when you get there you find you are staying in a pokey little room in a completely different building. These hotels need to make their advertising a lot clearer, people feel duped and aggrieved when they book what they think is going […] to be a stately home and get the shed out the back! Lesa meira

Just stayed the one night - facilities were good (pool & gym). Buffet dinner was good value for money and offered a reasonable choice. Bedroom was quiet (no obtrusive noise from other guests, and no passing traffic). If the weather had been better we would have been able to enjoy the grounds surrounding the hotel. Would definitely stay there again.

Good value for money and in a good position

I read a few reviews for this place before I went, and a majority of them seemed bad. Needless to say, this slightly put me off and made me worry about my visit there. However, from the moment my boyfriend and I arrived, we were nothing but impressed. The buildings are beautiful, it's so peaceful and our room was excellent! I would 100% recommend it […] and definately go back there. The prices for meals were very reasonable, and the food itself was delicious! The only complaint I would have is that there were a few children running around which spoils the mood, but other than that, it really was top quality! Lesa meira

Very nice hotel with super pool area. We had a very pleasant meal on the evening and were impressed with all the staff who were extremely courteous and plesant. Room was a little small but to be expected for the price we paid.
