Starfsfólkið lagði sig allt fram um að aðstoða mig eins og það gat. Einnig var jákvætt hversu auðvelt var að bóka á netinu. Það sem mér finnst að mætti bæta er að hægt sé að láta hótelið vita að maður þurfi transport frá flugvelli og að hægt sé að panta skutluna fyrirfram. Þurfti smá leiðbeiningu um það hvar ég ætti að hringja á hótelið og hvert ég ætti að fara til að hitta á skutluna.

We went to Barcelona for an exhibition. I must say if you got a chance to travel in Taiwan, you would know there's a BIG difference between them. Hotel Gran Ducat is right in the middle of the city. The traffic is extremely convenient and the public security is much better. But the hotel didnt offer bottle water in the room, and when i asked for a glass […] of hot water for taking medicine, they said no. You had to go to the vending machine to get urself a bottle water. "Not even 2 stars Hotel"
Even the hotel location is good but everything else is awful. You will have the sound of metro and vibration cause by it. You can not sleep very well over there. The quality of beds and the rooms are not even look like a 2 stars hotel. You don't have a room service.

"Hotel Gran Ducat in Barcelona Spain"
This is a very nice hotel in the very heart of the shopping and tourist location. You are within walking distance to bus stops, groceries, shopping center, and the busiest tourist street in Barcelona, Las Ramblas. The breakfast is too expensive unless you eat a lot, so we saved a lot on the room by reserving the room without breakfast and bought fruit […] the night before at the grocery store. The hotel has 2 elevators, clean rooms. Some rooms are very small and ours was a little larger with an outdoor balcony in the back of the hotel. Brilliant location- just at the top of Las Ramblas. You can walk everywhere from there. Hotel itself is fine. When we were arrived we were given a small, depressing room with hardly any natural light so I asked to change and, after two nights, did manage to swap to a lovely room with a little balcony overlooking the road. The location near Plaça de Catalunya was convenient to everything, and the staff was most helpful and courteous. It was one of the best rates in the area. I had read some reviews when we first booked that commented on the size of the rooms. We found the rooms to be clean and small but quite adequate. The breakfast buffet was good but pricey.

You can not get more convenient than the location for this hotel in Barcelona. Also the staff at the front desk were very helpful. The room we stayed in was horrible though. It had the most uncomfortable bed I've ever stayed in, the TV didn't work, the windows did not shut, the shower leaked terribly and the bathroom tiles were largely broken and falling […] off the walls. "Good location and reasonable room"
The Hotel Gran Ducat is convenient for Plaza de Cataluña and the surrounding areas. We had a clean and functional room, which was above the metro line. This did mean that we could hear some of the metro trains passing underneath, but it was not too noisey.

Great location is about the best you can say for Hotel Gran Ducat. Hotel is hard to find -- big sign on the outside of the top floor but signage at eye level is hard to see - our taxi driver couldn't find the hotel despite it being on a main street of Barcelona. Upon check-in, we were given NO information about any amenities -- maybe because there weren't […] many. Didn't know there was a lounge and business center with computer on the first floor. There was no information in the room about services, meals or nearby tourist information, such as the metro or even a tourist map of the city. Luckily we were next door to a STarbucks for breakfast and near the Placa de Catalunya - the center of the city. The clerks were indifferent to their guests - but since we spent so little time in the hotel, it was tolerable. A little more hospitality would have been appreciated. The Hotel was easy to find and cluse to Placa de Catalunya. Grocery store accross the street. Room was small but clean and well kept. Staff was very helpful. Biggest problem was the noise. Alot of young partyers in the hotel with a lot of loud voices. Halls echoed the sound and it was disturbing until it quieted late at night.

"College Dorm Room-1 block from bus stop"
The hotel staff was friendly. The rooms are the smallest I've stayed in throughout Europe. The hallways and the room feels like a college dorm (loud, hear everything in next bedrooms, outside hallway). It's expensive hotel, but Barcelona is expensive, too. The best part of the hotel was only a block from Catalunya Plaza (main stop for airport bus stop-Aerobus). […] There is a Starbucks & Burger King within a few blocks for snack/drinks. "Tiny rooms, no air"
While the hotel location is very central, the room itself is VERY small and bare, the bed is uncomfortable and the one window faces into a closed area so there is hardly any air in the room. The people at reception are not very friendly or helpful.

The staff was friendly and helpful-they spoke excellent English. There was a computer available to us to check into our flight for the next day, and we were able to lock our luggage in the basement because we arrived at 7am and check-in wasn't until 3. The hotel was clean and the room was spacious for a European hotel room. However, I was disappointed […] in the comfort of the room. There was no blanket on the bed, the bed was horribly uncomfortable-lumpy and you could feel every spring, it was very sterile and looked as though it was a hospital room. This hotel is about 100 yds away from a major subway station, Urquinaona. Literally, right next store to a Starbucks. 2 blocks from Placa Catalunya and the main tourist office. Nearby restaurants 24/7. It was easy to pop back in for a siesta and to drop stuff off during the day as needed. Very quiet hotel, elevators, spacious bathrooms. Room was spotless […] and the staff was incredibly helpful and discreet. Air-conditioning was a huge plus in Barcelona in July. We wished we stayed another night! The Hotel Gran Ducat is in a great location near Plaza Catalunya. It is a quick walk to Via Laietana and La Rambla and right around the corner from shopping and restaurants on Passeige de Gracia. The location is great. You can catch a bus from the airport directly to Plaza Catalonya and walk two blocks to the hotel; saves a 25-30 Euro cab ride. We stayed at Hotel Gran Ducat after a week-long cruise. We arrived at the hotel very early and were allowed to lock up our luggage downstairs until we could check in. We then walked to the nearby Plaza Cataluyna and ate breakfast and then started on the Hop-on Hop-Off Bus Tour of Barcelona. The Plaza was one of the main stops so when we returned after […] check-in time we were able to check into our room. When checking in a couple who were checking out told us to be sure to ask for a room on the upper floors as the subway runs under the hotel and the lower floors are very noisy. We were on the 4th floor and did not have any problem sleeping. Our flight was very early the next morning and the desk clerk had a taxi waiting on us at the time requested. We were in Barcelona thru 9/13/09 and stayed at the Gran Ducat thru 9/9/09. the location is perfect for exploring the Barri Gotic, La Rambla, Plaza Catalunya and Passaig de Gracia. Metro stations, bike rentals, shops, cafes and atm's are all minutes away. There is limited wifi and a desktop workstation that are free, but breakfast is NOT, so be aware. The location is absolutely amazing. It's right by the Urquinanona and Catalunya metro line stations and right next to plaza catalunya which is one of the most well-known and central places of Barcelona. It's also very close to Las Ramblas and Porta de l' Angel, which both begin from the plaza. You can take the metro from the Renfe (train station) and […] there's a direct bus to the Airport (for all terminals!) leaving from the plaza every 8 minutes and only costs 4.38 euros each way. the trip oly takes 30 minutes and I highly recommend it! the room was clean and quite comfy. i just wish there was an additional table/dresser in there. both elevators were brand new and fast. the breakfast was a bit pricey ($11/person) so I opted for some more real spanish experience at the cafe next door where you can get a good breakfast and coffee plus fresh orange juice for under 5 euros. also, there's a big central tourist information center in plaza catalunya which is great! i stopped there every morning to get the info I needed. finally, 2 of the houses that Gaudi designed/renovated are only a 6-10 minute walk from the hotel.
